Re: ODT SUNDAY 5 JANUARY ~ SAT 11 JANUARY

I don't have time to catch up reading but I wanted you all to know that Howard is in the hospital.  He c/o a stabbing headache yesterday morning and he wasn't acting just right (like when he had his stroke) so we took him to the ER and they eventually admitted him.  He had a negative c-t scan and also  neg. MRI and passed all the cognitive and physical tests the nurses did.
ML will pick me up soon to head to the hospital.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 5 JANUARY ~ SAT 11 JANUARY

Q: Daddy, why are all those cars beeping their horns? A: Because there's a wedding going happening. Q: Don't we beep the horn a warning signal, Daddy? A: Exactly, son.

COLD HERE IN THE SINGLES LAST NITE.  SUNNY DAY TODAY.
HAVEN'T HEARD FROM DEVONNE YET SO MAYBE STILL WITHOUT POWER LIKE JANET.  THERE ARE SO MANY WITHOUT IT RIGHT NOW.

JUDY.....PRAYERS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS FOR HOWARD.  I HOPE ITS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.  SOME KIND OF PASSING THING THAT JUST HAPPENED.  I KNOW ITS ALWAYS A WORRY WHEN ONE HAS TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL.  KEEP US IN TOUGH.

CAROL.....THAT'S A NICE CUTTING TABLE YOU MADE FOR YOURSELF.  I ALWAYS LIKED ONE THAT WAS SEPARATE FROM EVERYTHING ELSE.  GOOD JOB.

DEVONNE......GLAD YOU GOT THE PRAYER SHAWL OK.  I KNOW YOU WILL POST A PICTURE WHEN YOU ARE ABLE.
IN THE MEANTIME, STAY WARM AND KEEP FED.

LINDA.....GOOD TO KNOW YOU DID NOT LOSE POWER FOR LONG.  IT CAN GET MIGHTY COLD WITHOUT IT.

MY LIBRARIAN CAME WITH A LARGE PRINT BOOK I'VE NOT READ AND IT LOOKS LIKE A NICE MYSTERY.  THAT WILL KEEP ME OUT OF TROUBLE.
IN THE MEANTIME ITS GOING TO BE BEANS AND FRANKS FOR SUPPER TONITE.  I HAD MY SON GET ME NATHAN'S BEEF FRANKS, THE ONLY KIND THAT DO NOT GIVE ME INDIGESTION.  I WILL GRILL THOSE AS USUAL.  MY SON GOT ME SOME B&M BAKED BEANS WHICH ARE MADE LOCALLY AND ARE MY FAVORITES.  FOR LUNCH I CAN FINISH UP MY TATER TOT CASSY.

NOTHING NEW HERE.  COLD BUT SUNNY DAYS.  WE MISSED THAT POLAR STORM, THANK GOODNESS.  BUT OUR NITES ARE IN THE TEENS NOW AND DAYS IN THE 20S AND SOMETIMES 30S.  A NORMAL WINTER FOR US.
STAY SAFE MY DEAR FRIENDS.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 5 JANUARY ~ SAT 11 JANUARY

Good Morning to everyone!!  I'm not feeling very sharp this morning so will be very brief.  Sorry, seem to be this way every morning.   I'm just going to sign off and wish you all a wonderful day. BTW, it is 38* here this morning.  Love you all, BJ.

Carol, thank you so much for your hard work. Thanks to all of you for participating and making this happen. You did so good keeping it a secret, lol! Here are pictures. Love all the cards, esp the flower pot!

Notice the pink tissue...just perfect wrapping. This picture shows how long it is. Of course, Gracie had to hop up on the sofa & get in the picture.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 5 JANUARY ~ SAT 11 JANUARY

Judy, anxious to hear what is wrong with Howard. Hope he is going to be okay. Sending love and hugs!

I had 3 doctor appointments yesterday, so I was really tired last night. Here's the results of all 3 visits.

First oncologist visit - no chemotherapy needed. Will need to do radiation for six weeks. Next appointment Feb. 6th. Said I had an open wound under my arm. He was concerned, so called my doctor. This made me have a 3rd appt. all in one day!

2nd oncologist visit - Discussed hormone therapy treatment. The first thing he asked was if I had any concerns. Yes, I do! Many of these pills cause joint pain, and I told him my history of joint problems. He was super nice and we learned a lot. Gary went with me on this trip. Will be on hormone therapy for 5 years. This can't start until after the radiation.

Back to my cancer doctor at 1:30 - he wasn't concerned about the little leakage of blood. Just use gauze and neosporin. The stitches were still there, but he wants to see me again in 3 weeks.

Linda, I hope Darrell will stay inside. I told Billy once not to go down the steps, they were a sheet of ice.  Did he listen? No, and he fell and slid down all the steps.

Trish, I think you made a smart decision, lol. Emily's Mom bought G&E tickets to a Dave Ramsey seminar years ago. (He's a financial advisor.) Did they go? No, lol.

Sandra, no power outage; just had to rest.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 5 JANUARY ~ SAT 11 JANUARY

Our power just came on. The room temp is 56! It will probably take all night to reach a normal temp. My studio has been the only warm room because it has a propane log stove. The living room has a gas fireplace but the room is very large with 20’ ceilings so it couldn’t do much. 🥶

Re: ODT SUNDAY 5 JANUARY ~ SAT 11 JANUARY

I just got home from the hospital.  Howard has to stay one more night and can come home tomorrow.  He did not have a stroke.  All his tests were normal and/or negative.  I will explain more tomorrow  I'm pooped and still have to eat something, but I wanted you all to know.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 5 JANUARY ~ SAT 11 JANUARY

Judy, wonderful news about Howard.  It is such a scare when one's loved one is hurting and we are helpless.  I hope it is all good news.

Devonne, that prayer shawl is lovely!  I hope all the love we sent gives you comfort, especially in your down time.  I know you are strong and facing this like a warrior, but I also know down times come too.  Aaron faced his battle like you, but he also had some pretty rough down times.  Prayer got him through.    He has gone through it twice now.  We are hoping this last time was the LAST time.

Janet, hooray for heat!!  It is really cold, but not much ice in my area.  I see lots of places had sheets of ice and freezing rain.

Dean and I cleaned the living room  and put back my pictures and knick-knacks from where I had taken them down for the decorations for Christmas.  Then we walked at the YMCA.  Did nothing much for the rest of the day.  I am working on a 1000 piece puzzle so I find myself back at it a lot.  I have a load of stuff to take to the donation site.

Trish, I totally agree on how did the grandkids get to the age of driving?  Abby drives all over the place.  She loves it.  Gabriel is old enough to get his learners permit but is not interested.  So funny.  Both of my sons were taking that test as soon as possible.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 5 JANUARY ~ SAT 11 JANUARY

I was in the shop looking for a jacket to buy my girlfriend as a present. I couldn't decide which one to get, so I asked the salesman, "If you were buying a jacket for your girlfriend, which one would you get? He said, "A bulletproof one. I'm married."

ANOTHER COLDDDD NITE AND DAY, BUT SUNNY.  CAN'T REALLY COMPLAIN.  I DON'T HAVE TO GO OUT SO I'M STAYING TOASTY WARM.

CAROL.......YOU DID SUCH A FANTASTIC JOB WITH THAT SHAWL.  ITS LOVELY.  THE PATTERN IS SO PRETTY.  THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING IT FOR US.

DEVONNE......THAT'S SO PRETTY.  LOOKS LOVELY ON YOUR SOFA.  YOU CAN HAVE IT HANDY TO COVER UP WHILE WATCHING TV.

JUDY......SORRY TO HEAR HOWARD IS STILL IN HOSPITAL.  I HOPE THEY FOUND AN ANSWER WITH A QUICK RECOVERY AND ASSISTANCE.  I KNOW YOU WANT HIM HOME.  HUGS GIRL.

I SEE THAT TIM ALLEN, THE COMEDIAN, HAS A NEW SERIES STARTING TONITE, SHIFTING GEARS ON ABC AT EIGHT.  IF HE IS ANYTHING LIKE HIS PAST, HE WILL DO A GOOD JOB WITH THIS SERIES.  HE'S SO DEADPAN FUNNY.

NOTHING SPECIAL PLANNED FOR ME.  JUST THE USUAL.  I JUST HOPE I WIN A BIT AT BINGO TONITE.  ITS MORE FUN WINNING THAN LOSING.
I HOPE EVERYONE IS WARMING UP AGAIN AFTER THAT POLAR BLAST.  NO GOOD NEWS WITH THAT STORM.
HUGS FOR ALL, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 5 JANUARY ~ SAT 11 JANUARY

I haven’t been out of the house since Sunday afternoon. DH has been taking care of outside stuff like bird feeders, garbage, etc. Yesterday he went to his drs office and picked up dinner, enough for 2 nights on his way back. With his big truck and “fingers crossed” as he said he made it out and back up the icy driveway.
Tomorrow he’s taking me grocery shopping. We’re supposed to get snow and ice again Friday night into Saturday. Here we go again.
Sorry to hear about Howard and Darrell.
The shawl is lovely.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 5 JANUARY ~ SAT 11 JANUARY

Thank you, Devonne, for posting the pictures.  I couldn't get a good one.  It sounds as though your medical team has a good handle on everything.  I know that means a lot.

Judy, hoping that Howard is home now and feeling much better.  That puts you on nurse duty, but I know you would much prefer to have him home.  Prayers for both of you.

Sandra, hoping you win tonight.  Even a little makes you feel good.  Did you ever find your applique patterns?  I have tons that need new homes.  If you give me an idea of what you're looking for, I'll be happy to share.

Cheryl, sorry your DIL made such a mess in your house, but at least she felt badly enough to help you clean.

Linda, I hope Darrell is staying inside and that y'all are okay.

Janet, so sorry about the power outage.  It's no fun.

So, I think I'm on a roll.  In 2020, the doll challenge was "All That Jazz."  Not a particular favorite, but I bought patterns and a small microphone to make a jazz singer and a trumpeter.  Challenge cancelled; whew, didn't have to do it.  But, what to do with the microphone?  2022:  doll club challenge was "Sing Me a Song."  Aha!  Now, I wasn't going to a lot of detailed work to make the singer and trumpeter since this was a giveaway, so I found my little round body pattern and made a singer.  Well, of course she needed a backup band!  I even had some little musical instruments.  Of course, they were too small.  So, I ordered some bigger ones.  24 in a set.  I'm not doing 24 giveaway dolls. So, I decided I needed my own orchestra.  The giveaways were very colorful, but I wanted some for my table for Christmas.  Plus, I had an inspiration piece:

The largest box is about 4" high, 5" wide, 2" deep.  The others are a bit smaller.  So, my orchestra needs to be white, cream, gold, silver.  Lots and lots of bling.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 5 JANUARY ~ SAT 11 JANUARY

CAROL they are gorgeous, you do such beautiful work, that shawl is absolutely the prettiest I have seen ((((hugs)))) Hope you are keeping warm.

SANDRA fingers crossed that you have a win - just makes it a bit re fun!! I didn't know Tim Allen was still acting, we don't many shows like that ere.

CHERYL pole Dean hasn't had a lesson yet, he is hoping maybe tomorrow, John has been using his car all week, so he' have to wait till it's free, they are looking at another car for John so Dean can have the old one LOL Both boys had/have to learn on a manual transmission, they are not as easy to find 2nd hand.

DEVONNE you will olive wrapping up in that shawl, it looks wonderful good news for you!! The radiation and no them is good.

INDY hope that H is now home, you poor thing, you must have been worried, any hospital visit is scary, prayers for you both that he recovers quickly ((((hugs))))

JANET good for your DH, hope you enjoyed dinner, getting out is good when you can, we have had lots of rain, and it's cooler, so a bonus for us right now!

Nothing happening here, Gary went to physic today, he is blinking a bit better, still can't close his eye properly, but he has exercises to do. And his face doesn't look so lop-sided. This may go on for a long time,  so one day at a time!!

I caught up on some reading, my pile of books is so tall, I need to get more read, I also pulled out some to give to Sarah, and others to take to the street library, it's just over the road from me really, so I'll drop them over tomorrow. Do you have them, people put out a pretty box/stand near the roadway and you can take books from them OR leave them also, kind of a neighbourhood free library. There are about 5 quite close to me.

I am loving these cooler days, such a nice change from having the A/C blasting all day. And nice to have a light cover on at night.

See you tomorrow.

(((hugs))) and prayers

Re: ODT SUNDAY 5 JANUARY ~ SAT 11 JANUARY

Q. A man was driving a truck. His headlights weren't on, and the moon wasn't out. Ahead of him, a woman dressed in all black started crossing the road. Fortunately, the man braked so she could cross. How did he see her? A. It was the middle of the day!

UNNY AND COLD HERE.  SNOW SHOWERS EXPECTED TODAY.

I HOPE TO GET CAUGHT UP ON SOME READING TODAY.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 5 JANUARY ~ SAT 11 JANUARY

Well we slid out.  I had my fingers crossed and my eyes closed.  Went to the dump, the Home store for bird seed and then groceries at Kroger.  The ride back up the driveway was nerve wracking but DH managed it.  The last thing I wanted to do was have to get out and walk.  Falling on the ice wouldn’t not be good.   More snow is on the way for Friday night into Monday.
