My wife apologized for the first time ever today. She said she’s sorry she ever married me.
BRIGHT AND SUNNY BUT DARN COLD.
THERESA.....SO SORRY TO HEAR YOUR MOM HAD A FALL AND BROKE A BONE. NOW SHE WILL NEED TO RECOVER AND I HOPE IT DOESN'T TAKE TOO LONG. YOU WILL BE BOUNCING BACK AND FORTH LIKE BEFORE. I HOPE YOU FIND A GOOD PLACE FOR HER RECOVERY. GOOD LUCK.
CHERYL.....SORRY YOU STILL HAVE A STUFFY NOSE. AT LEAST ITS A COLD AND NOT COVID. THAT'S A GOOD THING. YOU WILL RECOVER IN NO TIME.
WOW, A BABY POPPER. DIDN'T THEY KNOW? EVERYONE KNOWS THOSE ARE A BIG MESS EVEN OUT IN THE OPEN. SORRY YOU HAD ALL THAT CLEANING UP TO DO BUT AT LEAST NOW YOUR OFFICE IS CLEAN.
TRISH.....THAT MUST HAVE BEEN A REAL SCARE WITH GARY FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY. DID THEY DETERMINE IT WAS A SMALL STROKE? ANYTIME A PART OF THE BODY GOES LIMP, ITS NOT GOOD. PRAYERS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS FOR GARY AND YOUR FAMILY.
HOW GREAT THAT LITTLE BRIDIE THOUGHT QUICKLY AND SAVED HERSELF. ITS WONDERSUL LITTLE ONES LEARN TO SWIM SO YOUNG. ITS EVEN BETTER SHE IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT WHAT TO DO. KIDS ARE SMARTER THAN WE THINK.
AS TO GARY, IT MAY HAVE BEEN ONE OF THOSE TINY STROKES THAT COME OUT OF THE BLUE. A TRUE STORY. I WAS AT WORK IN MY OFFICE. ALL OF A SUDDEN WHEN I WENT TO USE THE PHONE I COULD NOT THINK OF THE EXTENSION I NEEDED TO CALL. WORSE, I COULD NOT REMEMBER MY HOME PHONE NUMBER OR MY ADDRESS. MY MIND WAS A BLANK. I THINK THERE IS A SPECIAL NAME FOR IT BUT IT MEANS TINY STROKE. IT PASSED AFTER MANY MINUTES OF WORRY SO THERE ARE STRANGE THINGS THAT HAPPEN AND THEN NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. I COULD REMEMBER NUMBERS AGAIN. ITS BEEN AT LEAST 40 YEARS SINCE THEN. MAYBE GARY HAD ONE OF THESE EVENTS.
I HAD A BAD DAY YESTERDAY. I THINK IT WAS THE YOGURT. NOT ONE OF THE THINGS I ENJOY AT ALL, BUT SHORTLY AFTER EATING MINE FOR BREAKFAST YESTERDAY MY TUMMY FELT FUNNY. IT ACTUALLY REACTED THRU THE WHOLE DAY. I WAS MISERABLE. I DON'T LIKE YOGURT AT ANY TIME BUT YOU CAN BE SURE ITS NOT ON MY LIST FOR THIS WEEK. I AM MUCH BETTER THIS MORNING AND GLAD OF IT SINCE I HAVE COOKING TO DO.
MY SON AND HIS WIFE SENT ME PICS OF THE NOTRE DAME BASILLICA IN MONTREAL. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL AND COLORFUL CHURCH. THEY ARE ON THEIR WAY HOME NOW.
I HAVE A COUPLE OF RECIPES TO FINISH ON MY LIST FOR TODAY.
HUGS FOR YOU ALL. QB S

I eat yogurt (plain Greek no fat yogurt) everyday without issue. But if DH eats even a few spoonfuls he says it bothers his stomach. We eat it for the protein. I put granola in mine.
Very cold here and very windy. Everyone is running around getting gas and food for the upcoming snow storm. Hopefully it won’t be anything like they’re predicting.

OOPS I posted on last weeks before I locked it.
SANDRA that episode is a TIA, tiny clots that move through and then you are OK, Dad had 100s of them, he had a few major ones too, and mostly recovered with lots of physio, the specialist says that women often recover faster than men, he was an exception, because we are used to multitasking they think that we use more lines between left and right parts of the brain, but most men don't do that. GARY is OK, just his face, they think it's Bells Palsy, he still can't blink with his left eye, and left side of his face is kind of frozen, he can't blow out his cheeks to puff them out. He's OK, just need to keep an eye on him.
As for Bridie, she was up and off more quickly than we got to her, and we were right there LOL Only thing we were concerned about was that she may have frightened herself, she did but we kept telling her how clever she was, and she recovered quickly, it's so important here that kid can do that, so many have pools, and if they fall in they sink straight to the bottom.
NOTRE DAME is a gorgeous place, it's unexpected, when you see it takes your breath away, I just sat and let it sink in.
JANET I can usually eat yoghurt like that too, just sometimes it reacts, maybe it's been sitting out at the store, no idea, but occasionally it gets me and I'm rushing to the bathroom often.
I locked the old thread, but my last post is there.
I hear thunder, we migth get that storm after all!

Trish- when DH had Bells Palsy many years ago they treated it with Valtrex, an anti viral right away, But the thing that did the trick was acupuncture! It was amazing. Even the dr couldn’t believe it.
Back later. Off to the gym before the snow starts.

My wife thinks I don’t respect her privacy enough. At least, that’s what it says in her diary.
ITS COLD AND SUNNY HERE IN MY NECK OF THE WOODS.
MY SON IS OFF SHOPPING FOR ME AND MY TATER TOT CASSY IS IN THE OVEN. THE SOUP WAS MADE LAST NIGHT. TWO NEIGHBORS NOT DOING WELL GOT A CONTAINER SO THEY DID NOT HAVE TO COOK. I HAVE ENOUGH FOR HIM TO EAT HERE FOR LUNCH, TAKE HOME AND SOME FOR ME, TOO.
I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE COLD IN THE SOUTH. MANY OF MY FRIENDS ARE LIVING IN THE AREA. PRAYERS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS THAT ITS NOT AS BAD AS THEY PREDICT. MAYBE IT WILL WEAR ITSELF OUT BEFORE IT GETS TOO BAD FOR THE SOUTH.
WISHING YOU ALL THE BEST. HUGS, QB S

Greg came to visit yesterday, went and got us Chickfila. When he came back, he said, Mom, you have a package. I was totally surprised and emotional. What a beautiful gift and all the beautiful cards! Greg was so surprised to see so many cards. I absolutely love it. It's gorgeous! Whoever made it is so talented. Thank you so much, everyone! I will always treasure it.
There were two cards that didn't have a name on them. I'll post a picture below.

Trish, I hope Gary is going to be ok. How scary that must be for him!
Have you seen the traffic jam in Kansas? It looks like the ice storm we had in Atlanta in 2014, but not quite as bad. It doesn't look good for a lot of states, but hoping it won't be as bad as predicted. We might get some snow on Friday....48% chance.
Sandra, I'm glad Matt & Daphne will be home before the bad weather arrives.
Theresa, so sorry to hear of your mother's fall. That is my most dreaded fear. I am faithfully using my walker right now.
Cheryl, bless your heart! Was hoping you were feeling better by now.
Last night I took a hydrocodone and it really affected me. It will be the last one I take. Tylenol from now on if I need anything.
I will find out in the morning if I need radiation or not. I'll also meet a second oncologist to discuss hormone therapy. I am dreading this because they have so many side effects. My last two appointments until my six months checkup.

Oh wow, Devonne, my tracking slip says it would be delivered on Monday. Happy surprise for me that it arrived so quickly! I crocheted the shawl, and every time I worked on it, I read the prayers that everyone included in their cards. So many healing thoughts are woven into it.
Thoughts and prayers for all. It sounds as though this year is starting with a lot of needs.
My nephew is home in Atlanta safely after the terrible attack. He and his friends stayed for the football game which had been postponed for a day. He said the security was no tighter than it was at any regular game. I'm not sure I'm going to New Orleans any time soon. A local Houston high school band was invited to play at the game, and the school officials originally said no since New Orleans is so dangerous. The mayor and superintendent got involved, the kids went, and of course, that's when something happens. They were fine, but it's very scary.
I have nearly all of the holiday stuff put away, and I didn't sleep well last night, so I'm off for a nap (I hope).

Oops! I'm sorry that I didn't lock and bump the threads! I have a slight cold and just felt drained last night.
Thoughts and prayers for all!
Stay safe in the stormy weather!
I'll be back to read when my eyes aren't burning. I told DH that my eyes feel like I have a fever, even if I don't. 🤪 But it doesn't take much for my eyes to feel this way. 😜
Back later!

I have a new cutting table! It's small, but I don't have much room. I used a microwave cart from Lowe's and put an 18" x 24" cutting mat on top. It's about 39" tall, so a great height.

Devonne, my card is the butterfly. I don't know why I didn't sign it. So glad you have received the prayer shawl and that Greg was there with you. Nice to have another to share joys as well as sorrows and what better person than your loving son.

Trish, so sorry about Gary, but happy to hear it is not too bad. Dean had Bell's Palsy a few years ago. It was not too bad, but I thought he was having a stoke so took him to the ER. It took about 2 months, but it eventually went completely away. Sending well wishes.
It is really cold. We are supposed to get a few inches of snow, but south of us a couple of hours, they are supposed to get that awful freezing rain/ice. In this case, snow is better.
Dean (mostly Dean) shampooed and scrubbed the carpet today. He rented a machine from Home Depot for a few hours. We only have carpet in the living room now and will replace it soon with the VLT flooring that is in the rest of the house. I would love real hardwood, but that is just too expensive to put in this older home. It was built in 1989 and had carpet through-out. So vinyl luxury wood it is.
I made vegetable beef soup yesterday and we had leftovers today. I did put a quart in the freezer for later. We love soups in this house. Judy, I wrote down that eggplant soup and plan to make it soon.
Devonne, how nice that you got the prayer shawl early!! Carol put all the work into it and we thank her for it. We hope it gave you some comfort.
Carol, your cutting table looks great! What a good idea to use that cart. I have an old school cafeteria table that I use. It is nice and sturdy and long but I really should have Dean put something under the legs to raise it since I have to bend over all the time to cut.

CAROL you are such an angel, so caring and generous, THANK YOU it doesn't seem enough, but it's heartfelt (((hugs)))
DEVONNE lots of love went into that, I am so glad you received it!
CAROL great idea on the cutting table, I have one, in the garage, piled with stuff, unlikely it will ever surface, and one go the wheels is broken, cube fixed, but doubt I'll use it, I SHOULD clean it off and give it away LOL
SANDRA I bet you are glad that cold storm is not in your neck of the woods, awful for them all in the way of it! I know you get blackouts in ice and heavy snow, so I'm glad you are OK, enjoy that soup, and can't wait to hear more stories from Matt and Daphne.
JANET I appreciate the advice, thank you, I have passed it on.
CHERYL soup is always good in winter months, I often have with a big pot OR the slow cooker, it's good for soup too. My favourite is chopped veg with beef pieces that have been browned and pumpkin soup, always make it at least every 2 weeks in winter.
THANK YOU ALL especially those who have given advice for Gary, I will pass it all on, seems like his Drs are doing all the right things so far, he needs to loose a lot of weight, I don't know whether to play devils advocate and just order Lite-n-Easy for him, and wait for the fallout, or just try to encourage him to do it, I will make him (and her) some protein balls tomorrow, I need more nut butter and it's too hot to go out, and a storm is brewing a well!
It's been awful with heat here today, I got out early and renewed my drivers licence, met Dean up there getting his learners, YIKES how did he get that old!! Of course he passed, now he's be nagging them to get in the car with him, too hot today, at least tomorrow will be much cooler!
We had a nice early dinner with them last night, plus Scott/Cathy and family and Declan/Sarah and family. Gary's dad finally rang him Sunday and asked how he was, also was there anything planned for Dean, Gary said no, Megan was glad as they don't ever acknowledge John's birthday and it's unfair to go to dinner for Dean and never John.
My salad wasn't very good, it had bacon bits in that were like concrete LOL and way too much dressing. I wanted to get a bottle of Prosecco for us all to have a glass (the girls ) but they had none, how does a pub have no bubbles - except for a cheap one that we wouldn't drink, someone messed up the ordering!
edited - thought about ordering for him, but I better just encourage and not interfere. He's a big boy and needs to decide himself that he can do it LOL

Online!
We had some freezing rain yesterday and some snow overnight, probably a total of 4-5”. Thankfully, no power outage. The temperature will not get above freezing until Saturday so I will not be going anyplace anytime soon. Tomorrow’s guild meeting has been cancelled and I will probably cancel the massage I was looking forward to on Wednesday. The highway in front of my house looks in fairly good shape but I doubt that streets and sidewalks in town will be clear until a few days from now.
My plan is to do a lot of sewing this week because I have many projects started and/or planned. I am working on the yearly Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt. My twin great nieces will be having their second birthday soon and I want to make doll quilts for them. I have a baby quilt started that I must finish by the 18th for a baby shower for a cousin. Matilda’s quilt is ready to be bound, as well as three for quilts of valor. Winnifred’s quilt is in the planning stage.

Hope you are all OK - warm and have enough food etc with the freezing you are having, I just can't even imagine!!
SANDRA thank you for the heads up for STRINGS, hope all in the south are OK and can keep warm
JANET no driving for you it seems, stay warm, do some hand sewing if you can.
MARYLOU lots of projects to keep you occupied, hope you don't loose power, I'm glad the highway is ok for now. I gave up on Bonnie Hunter quilts, I did a few, but they seem to use similar pieces and I got bored, I do like the look when they are finished, I don't however like the use of lots of tiny 1/2 square triangles, too much bulk in many of the blocks in the last one I did. I read she is coming to Australia, going to Tasmania, it will be lovley there, but they finish in Alice Springs, YIKES!!!! too, too hot right now AND flies!!!
SANDRA hope you are OK and tucked up warm in your apartment, did Matt get home safely? I'm sure they had a good time. Hope you can read and watch some recorded shows!
Made some protein balls for Megan & Gary today, and I went to my training, it's been raining a bit today, and quite cold, we went from almost 40C yesterday to a top of 21C today, almost put a jacket on LOL
It was so nice training when it was cool, we all enjoyed it. Megan took Gary for more tests today, an MRI was one, not sure of the other, he'll head back to the Dr on Friday morning, they want 2 days to go through the results as it was this afternoon (Tues) he did the tests.
The Mr played bowls today, he thought he might get rained on but they didn't where he was, he was lucky, we had showers on and off from lunchtime.
I'm doing a workshop in a couple weeks for a nice top, Julie asked me if I wanted to join her and Sarah the week before for a skirt as well, you really need an overlocker, I got it out, OOPS it's frozen, so poor little thing she's gone to hospital, she should be fine with a service, but I told them to call me if it was going to be more, I think I've had her for well over 10 years, and unfortunately I've not been kind, she's been in the garage for a good few years now untouched. The store said apart from the frozen part it all looks really good inside, no sign of damage, probably needs a good clean and oil, something I should have done before I put her away. I gave her a little gift of new thread for them to use, I'm thinking the ones on are pretty old and should be tossed out.
I hope I can get her back before the workshop on 22nd, it's 7th here today, but the mechanic only comes back to work on 13th, and I saw quite a few machines already waiting.

GOOD MORNING!
POWER CAME BACK ON BETWEEN 3 AND 4 PM. HOUSW GOT DOWN TO 60, SO IT WAS GETTING CHILLY INSIDE. I HAD JUST FIXED A CUP OF HOT TEA, BUT DARRELL WAS WITHOUT IS MORNING CUP OF COFFEE.
BIGGEST PROBLEM WAS KEEPING DARRELL FROM GOING OUT TO SEE IF HE HAD A NEWSPAPER AND MAIL. PAPER DELIVERY PERSON ISN'T DILIGENT IN NORMAL WEATHER SO REALLY DOUBTED ANY DELIVERY DS #2 TODD CHECKED WHEN HE GOT HOME FROM HIS 12 HOUR SHIFT. SAID THE MAILBOX WAS FROZEN SHUT. SO GUESS IT WILL BE BATTLES TODAY TO KEEP HIM INSIDE. HIS NIECE AND DS #1 HAVE TOLD HIM TO STAY IN TODAY. IT WAS 23 DEGREES WHEN I CHECKED SO NOT MUCH MELTING. WE DIDN'T GET MUCH SNOW BUT THE QUARTER TO HALF AN INCH OF ICE. THINK IT WAS ALL OF WINTER MIX OF SNOW, SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN.
MOST OF OUR BILLING IS ONLINE, SO MIST MAIL IS JUST JUNK MAIL. DARRELL LIVES HIS NEWSPAPER BUT CAN'T CONVINCE HIM PAPER AND MAIL NOT WORTH BREAKING A BONE. HE TOLD ME HIS CANE WOULD KEEP HIM FROM FALLING. HIS DOCTOR WANTS HIM TO USE A CANE IN THE HOUSE AND A WALKER WHEN HE GOES TO THE MAILBOX. HE DOES NEITHER OUR DRIVEWAY DOES HAVE A LITTLE SLOPE NEAR THE STREET.
SORRY ABOUT TERESA'S MOM AND TRISH'S GARY. BEST WISHES FOR SPEEDY RECOVERY FOR THEM.
DEVONNE, PRAYERS CONTINE FOR YOU. GLAD THE PACKAGE CAME.
THANK YOU CAROL!!!!
BJ, PRAYERS CONTINUE FOR YOU AND YOURS.
Looks like today's temp will be barely above freezing. AT KEAST SUN IS SHINING RIGHT NOW. HOPE WILL BE SUNNY ALL DAY. WIND GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH ,SO COULD LISE POWER AGAIN. FINGERS CROSSED.. CALLING FOR MORE SNOW FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY.
SORRY FOR ERRORS. TAKE CARE EVERYONE. YOU TOO TRISH, HEAT CAN BE HARMFUL AS WELL.
THINKING OF EVERYONE. PRAYERS..............

We are still without power. Restore time is tomorrow 11PM. Yikes. The driveway is icy but DH has a dr s appt and insists he’s going. Just checked and they are open. If I’ve never mentioned our driveway is 700’ long and downhill to get out. Hopefully he’ll be ok and not wreck the truck.
With these temps I think it will be icy for days.
