Re: ODT SUNDAY DEC 29 ~ SAT JANUARY 4 2025

Looks like it's THAT season, the one with hospital visits - yikes!!

I will start by saying Gary (Megan's) is OK we had a rush trip to take him to hospital, the local private, he wasn't feeling well, went to the Drs and she asked him to get straight to the private hospital, they saw him called an ambulance and took him to the major hospital - sirens going - they thought he might be having a stroke, OR Bells Palsy. after lots of tests his face is becoming more even, he can't blink with one eye, and he's home now with Prednisone and eye drops to moisten his eye, and patches to make it close. It's Dean's birthday tomorrow, so he thinks he will be OK, we've decided to wait to see how he is tomorrow before canceling the booking for dinner AND they were supposed to be away next weekend (11/12 Jan for a theatre visit with Scott & Cathy, decisions will be made later on that --- poor Megan was so upset she had to let him go in the ambulance and go home to pack a bag, and I picked her up there and took her to the hospital, they were really good, and staff kept coming to inform us what was happening.

On top of that was a visit to my sis the day before all this LOL That was eventful too, her in-laws were coming to stay on short notice, she had been decluttering all their clothes (grand kids included) and the whole dining table was piled 2 feet high, she had pulled the sheets off the beds and washed them and then I hung clothes on coat hangers and she sorted/bagged for giveaways,  we had that done in 1/2 hour, before that though we were watching the kids in the pool, Miss Bridie, who can swim, and has been taught to save herself, slipped off the steps around the (inside of ) pool - she turned and dog paddled to the side, we were there by then it was only about 2 seconds, she got a shock, but it's good to know she didn't panic, just did what they taught them at swimming class. She started crying then - we kept telling her what a good job she did and she was back in the water in 5 mins LOL - poor Ruari was blue and teeth chattering from being in too long, so I had to wrap him up in a towel and rub him firmly all over till he got warm, he's so tiny, all skin and bones, so he gets cold after being in for an hour or so LOL

Eventful few days, just like yours THERESA hope that your mum makes a quick recovery, they must have pinned her leg, poor thing it will take a while to recover, and poor you, she will be a bit testy (((hugs))) Hope the NSDB doesn't give you grief - tell him you have friends who'd be happy to 'advise' him on manners LOL

SANDRA would you like some drama too, or are you content with life as it is, I was thinking I would like some peace and quiet for a few days now. Hope you have a lovely visit with Matt, Montreal will be COLD and mostly lots of snow, I was fascinated with the underground shipping centre.

CHERYL good to hear you are feeling better.

TRACY sorry about your uncle, enjoy that quit making with BJ, hope you get it right this time, frustrating when you have to pull out a whole row !!

MARYLOU  and INDY having just done the temp quilt, it's not finished, I found it hard to keep up with something each day, once a week would be better in my honest opinion, I have 3 months left to do of the sewing for my quilt, and the thought is depressing me !!! Need to get going on it, maybe if I do the months in embroidery (machine ) I will feel more inclined to finish it's been a long project for the whole year, it gets boring thinking about it.

INDY I admire your determination to finish (((hugs)))

I need to call and make sure Gary is OK, and remind her we will keep our phones next to the bed so she can call anytime - the boys were very calm about the whole thing, they both told me they thought their father could have had a stoke, his face had dropped on one side. Maybe they were trying to keep Megan calm, they kept telling her not to worry he's be fine, it was just a stroke,NOT helping guys !!!

I need to get moving I'll start some threads later, just need to organise the weeks dates.
See you later

Re: ODT SUNDAY DEC 29 ~ SAT JANUARY 4 2025

Wow!  Lots of things have gone on here.   Theresa, what a turn of events after the first episode with your Mom.  That's a lot to go through at her age.  Prayers for her recovery.

And, Trish, what a scare for your family.  Hope you get some answers as to what it really was with Gary as stroke or Bell's palsy would be treated and followed up differently.  That little Bridey is a wonder.  To save herself at her age is quite something.  I know you all were right there, but still...

I'm not sure why I chose to repeat the daily weaving in 2024--maybe because I had just enough of that grid fabric for another year.  Daily was too much of a commitment.   Calmly and methodically  doing a bit every day sounds lovely, but life happens and I got behind, too often.  After, having to choose a different color every day is why I changed to one color each week for the weekdays.  Much easier.  Anyway, they're done... no more... and no more talking about it!

I phoned my neighbor this morning, and she told me her brother and SIL are in New Orleans vacationing and were on Bourbon Street about two hours before the tragedy happened.  OMG!
One never knows, doesn't one?

Oh, Cheryl, what a mess.  Katy must not have realized the amount of powder was in it.  There should have been a warning to use it outside.  It's probably hard to find those crackers in the USA  since it's more of a English custom.   Glad your cold is better.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend, the first of the new year.  I haven't written 2025, yet.  Sure I'll screw that up the first time!    Have a good day...
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY DEC 29 ~ SAT JANUARY 4 2025

It figures that we would have a snow/ice warning in effect through Monday night since we have to leave about 9 am for an appt on Tuesday. Our driveway is long and uphill. We could probably slide out but getting back in would be difficult if not impossible. Hopefully the weather guessers are wrong.

Re: ODT SUNDAY DEC 29 ~ SAT JANUARY 4 2025

STRINGS I'm glad you felt well enough to push the decorations away. You do so well with your eye troubles (((hugs)))

JANET hope the weather guessers are wrong, ours often are, we are expecting storms - again - this afternoon, but looks like they'll sail over us, it's really hot, we could do with the rain. Might help the lawns a bit, they are all looking quite 'crunchy' LOL

SANDRA I forgot to say congrats about your Bingo night, the table you leave things on, is it for everyone to share around if they want to 'recycle',  it's a great idea, and especially useful for an older community who don't get out every day to find things. Hope you got all your cooking done!

CHERYL I missed reading about the 'incident' YIKES , those things send out lots, I dislike the announcements for babies, I always looked forward to 'is it a boy or girl' calls. If you know it seems to take away some of the fun - for me anyway. I knew Pete was a boy, but we kept it to ourselves, so did Megan, my nieces (brothers girls) all made huge announcements, names etc. Guess I'm getting old (and crabby )

INDY I felt just a little overwhelmed with my weekly project, if I felt like it I got the bits sewn together fast, I've been procrastinating for a few weeks now LOL I am making more neck coolers, it's so hot here we need them for training.

Theresa hope today wasn't as bad as you expected... it's hard to gather to do anything, best left to the staff LOL she can yell at them, Poor mum, she might be hard to settle into rehab too, it could be a long healing ((((hugs))))

We just called around to give Dean his gifts, he knew what he was getting, good shorts and shirts, good sneakers and some sport shorts. Pete gave him money. Gary is happy to go for dinner, his face is still not moving, and he's not blinking with his left eye, I think his left side looks more 'frozen', just a little, maybe because he can't move it properly, he has his DR tomorrow, and will book in an MRI ASAP.

I actually have a dress on for this dinner, don't often wear them, but have been doing so lately. I am so used to good slacks and tops, I might as well get some wear out of the dresses.

See you later
