I invited everyone here to eat dinner and I actually cooked it...nothing too difficult. Chicken tenders in the air fryer, green beans with little red potatoes, Kraft mac & cheese and creamed corn. Only Gary and Caleb came. Emily is on her way from work.
Cheryl, sorry you have a bad cold. Marilynn has been sick too with a bad cold. I'm waiting to call her the end of this week.
Judy, the dogs have not been themselves. Their environment has been disrupted. Every time someone comes in the door, Gracie barks. I try to calm her down, but she likes her privacy, lol. G&E went home yesterday, so things will be back to just the 3 of us.
The fireworks have already started and it's only 7:30.

HAPPY NEW YEAR we didn't wait for it, BUT were woken by the idiots with fireworks, they kept letting them off every 15-20 mins till 2am GRRRR!!!! So consequently we didn't get much sleep, I'd like a nap this afternoon LOL
DEVONNE I am so glad for your good news, a wonderful way to start the new year - don't overdo it with cooking for everyone, you will be glad of the peace and some space for yourself for a few days, it's been so good to hear your family have cared for you so well ((((hugs)))) I'm glad you enjoyed the card, some of you got kangaroos, some koalas also platypus and echidnas, I love to send-something from here, most of our cards are snow covered, they are beautiful too, but it's fun to share a bit of Oz.
INDY you have a lovely quiet life, enjoy it! I hope H gets his sauce eventually, we had steaks baked potato with garlic and parmesan and salads, nothing special, tonight will be cold ham and salads. I want an ear night, we have to take his car to service in the morning.
SANDRA it's so nice of you to share your mash, I always make too much, so I guess I could share, but I usually save it to add to something when I do make mash, not often. I am enjoying that new series, I will watch more while I sew this afternoon
CAROL we got your lovely card yesterday, so kind of you, THANK YOU. I hope Glen is much better, and you can enjoy maybe a concert for the new year.
JANET we don't usually go out either, just annoying that we have to put up with crazy inconsiderate people, I hope you recovered form the drive, I am OK driving, just not in the city of Sydney, too many changes, and it's a pain trying to change lanes to get to where I want, I'd much rather use public transport
CHERYL so sorry you have a cold, your weather is quite warm, perhaps that isn't helping. I hope you get well ASAP ((((hugs))))
My brothers daughters - a couple of them - have been commenting that we have a date for our family gathering LOL, Megan has told sis and I not to reply, she'll reply, well she asked has anyone decided on a place, no reply, guess they realise it's not going to be a sis's or mine LOL
The Mr's brother has told the staff that sis has plenty of socks, as the ones she had on had holes, YEP she does, but they are all too small, and he has finally acknowledged she needs new ones plus he told me she had plenty of long pants too but the ones she wants to wear are shabby, so I ordered more, he told me she had plenty, seriously, does he not get that she simply won't wear them if they are not the right colour/style LOL he's hopeless, I think he's finally realising what I have been doing for so long !! The Mr will have to clear out her wardrobe again, I usually do it, but they can both do it this time LOL
It's really hot here today, and tomorrow will be cooler before 4-5 days of 100+ - thank heavens for A/C and solar to run it.
I am so glad for you all here - thank you for being my sounding board and your wonderful friendship. Here's to another great year for all of us (((((hugs))))))

I seem to be the first to post after hearing of the horrible attack in New Orleans. Once again, since I can do nothing when these horrible travesties occur, after the initial shock, I attempt to gather my thoughts, my grief, my survivor's guilt and my religious beliefs and focus on my blessings and vow to be more calm, thankful, and grateful. Because of the stunning unbelief that something like this could happen again, I speak in first person because I'm sure others have different ways of dealing with it. I fully understand why some of you, here, choose to keep away but I can't do that with Howard here because he's very interested and, of course, I admit I'm curious, too.
So what I said above is how I try to cope because understanding is impossible no matter how many facts are given and discussed, ad nauseum.
We, went to bed as usual, same time, 11 pm. Were asleep when the year changed and neither of us was awakened by fireworks out here. In the past, there have been some, usually not too extended...just enough to get the dog awake, shaking and terrified!. Both dogs eventually went deaf which could be a blessing and a curse.
Trish, I think it's good that Meagan took the reins and answered her cousins about the family visit since it was they who asked. Her answer was genius. Sounds like your SIL runs the show and your brother goes along because that's what men often do, usually... I hope they wake up and figure it out, but don't hold your breath. And you and your sis are tight and won't lose each other for anything.
I almost finished my yearly sewing/weaving project. Still have three or four days to finish. I misplaced one of the floss colors I was using. I think it's in the mess of stuff residing on my couch. For two years I have tried to do a daily practice of weaving one square to mark the day. Tried, because some weeks I got behind a day or two but I never went ahead because we don't know if we'll have that day. After two years, I'm very tired of doing it and wanted to be done yesterday. But it'll happen today. Not going to start another daily thing as it was a source of guilt if I got behind. And, I want a fresh project. Blah, blah, blah...Going to quit and go.
Love you all. And, finally, Happy New Year.
Indy

January 1, 2025 has brought in the cold weather...14 degrees colder today. Yesterday was the last day of 65 degrees.
Not many fireworks last night, so that was a blessing.
So sad all those innocent people lost their lives in New Orleans; just out enjoying themselves and bringing in the New Year.

Too many fireworks! It started on Christmas Eve (Latino tradition), but we had a midnight thunderstorm, so the people who didn't get to fire theirs on Christmas Eve did it on Christmas night. Grrrr. Then every night since because, you know, why not? Then more last night.
I'm sick about the New Orleans incident. My nephew was a block away with friends who had all gone to NOLA for the Sugar Bowl game between University of Georgia and Notre Dame. They're all okay. The game has been postponed to tomorrow night. He has a video up on TikTok, but I don't have the app and frankly, I don't want to see it. Then to make it even worse, the suspect was from Houston and a US Army veteran. My heart hurts so much right now.
Trying to be positive that 2025 is going to be a great year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Surprise here, I have been busy. Between my mom and MIL...
Luke is officially moved into his apartment in Vicksburg. Has some great co-workers that gave him furniture! We put a tow ball on the truck and rented a U-Haul, to bring him his bedroom furniture. We drove back in the truck he came home on the 23rd, same day we drove back home. He took the truck back to Vicksburg. We have his car. I don't like his car! We plan on selling it to a neighbor this week if we can.
This past weekend, Friday night into Saturday morning, I was awakened by my phone. It was an EMT telling me they were transporting my mom to the hospital. She was face down on the floor and that is all I know about what happened. She is fine. She was discharged a little after 4 am, I stayed with her from the time I got to the hospital til discharge! I took her back to the assisted living. Had a hard time getting someone to answer the phone to let us in and get her transportation to her room! Got her tucked in and left!
I got home at 5 am and had to drive hubby to his Braves job at 8:30 am, little to no sleep! Picked him up at 3:45 and we went to look at a truck he liked. Bought the truck but had to leave it there till he could get a wire transfer of funds to the place. Picked it up yesterday!
Saturday night we had bad storms. By 5 am Sunday we had no power. Turns out 2 trees fell on the power lines in front of my neighborhood! Got power back around 9:30 am. Many limbs down in our yard and the neighborhood. By the time we got to the front of the golf course next door there was nothing! It was like a tornado went through, but never touched the ground! It did start to get chilly in the house but once we had power the house warmed up quickly! We did keep ourselves occupied, went to church, 7:30 mass then to Starbucks, Thanks so much Carol! Then home, and changed to pick up the debris. We filled our yard waste bin to almost overflowing. Everything else we put in the backyard for next week!
Sara and Alex are doing great! Nothing exciting in their lives, so I guess that's good!
I did get my sewing room in better shape. Now to clear my sewing table and life will be great! I so want to sew again! Life keeps getting in the way!
Here's to hoping 2025 will be a better year for all of us!
Later my Friends!

Good Morning to everyone!! It is very windy here, but dry!! Frank is up and getting ready to do something with his truck. Not sure what. Think he is meeting Rhonda somewhere. My brain isn't working too well this morning, so not sure where.
Time to quit, as I'm not too with it this morning. Have a wonderful day, everyone, BJ.

My email password has been hacked. That's the third time I've had to rename the cat.
ITS IN THE 30S BUT WINDY AS THE DICKENS.
I WENT TO BINGO AND LOST 4.75 BUT ENJOYED THE VISIT. WE GAB A LOT IN BETWEEN. I ALSO WAS ABLE TO GET RID OF THE LAST OF MY GOODIES ON THE TABLE. THEY WERE APPRECIATED AND DISAPPEARRED BY THE END. NOW I HAVE A FEW MORE THINGS FOR THE 'FREE' TABLE.
BJ......ITS ALWAYS NICE TO SEE YOU POSTING EVEN WHEN YOU HAVE NOTHING TO SAY. KEEP IT UP GIRL.
THERESA......YOU ARE ALWAYS SO DARN BUSY. WILL YOU EVEN SLOW DOWN.
SORRY ABOUT THE MEDICAL ISSUES THAT HAD YOU RUNNING. ITS ALWAYS SOMETHING WITH ELDERLY FOLKS.
DEVONNE......GLAD TO HEAR YOU ARE GETTING BACK TO NORMAL AND HAVE YOUR HOUSE TO YOURSELF AGAIN. I KNOW THE KIDS WERE VERY HELPFUL TO YOU. ITS NICE TO HAVE YOUR KIDS LIVING CLOSE AND NOT ANOTHER STATE.
LINDA......I KNOW YOU HAVE EYE ISSUES THAT LIMIT WHAT YOU CAN MANAGE. I ADMIRE YOUR SPUNK IN GETTING DONE ALL THE THINGS YOU DO. AND FOR YOUR HUBBY AS WELL. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
I AM RE-ORGANIZING. IT TAKES ME A LONG TIME BUT I REST IN BETWEEN SO ITS OK. I FIGURE IF I DO ONE THING A DAY I WILL BE IN GOOD SHAPE VERY SOON. TODAY IT WAS THE AREA AROUND MY SOFA AND MY SOFA CUSHIONS NEEDED SWAPPING, TOO. I LIKE TO HAVE THINGS AT MY FINGERTIPS WHEN I NEED THEM. I HAVE WHITTLED DOWN THE STUFF WHICH IS GOOD.
I WAS SO SURPRISED TO SEE MY SOC. SEC. CHECK WAS POSTED IN MY BANK ACCT ON THE 31ST. NICE TO SEE THAT RAISE. I AM HAPPY WITH WHATEVER THEY CAN GIVE ME.
THE DAY IS SUNNY AND BRIGHT BUT IT SUPER WINDY. MY DAU'S NEIGHBOR'S BAR-B-Q LANDED IN THE NEXT DOOR YARD. ITS SURE WHIPPING AROUND.
MY SON AND WIFE ARE GOING TO MONTREAL FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS FOR PART OF THEIR VACATION TIME OFF. THEY WILL BE BACK SATURDAY AFTERNOON. HE WILL SHOP FOR ME ON SUNDAY.
MY DAILY JOURNAL IS GETTING A WORKOUT WITH LISTS OF WHAT TO DO ON WHAT DAYS. I JUST MOVE THEM TO ANOTHER DAY IF I DON'T FINISH A CHORE.
I MADE A PORK CHOP BAKE LAST NIGHT AND HAVE PLENTY LEFTOVER FOR TODAY SO NO COOKING FOR ME. I LOVE A NO-COOK DAY.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY TODAY. HUGS FOR ALL, QB S

My morning was busy with a doctor visit and a bit of shopping. The cardiologist who did my cardiac ablation in September is very pleased that I am no longer having A-fib. The procedure only has an 80% success rate. When I complained of occasionally having such low blood pressure (in the 90’s) that I have little energy, he told me I could stop taking one of my meds to see if that helps.
Have you ever heard of an embroidery journal? The basic idea is to embroider a small motif on a sampler each day (or as often as you wish) to represent what you did or how you felt. I am going to put together some starter kits for my granddaughters. So I got some floss, needles, and hoops. I will get some books about it and some storage containers from Amazon since I couldn’t find what I want in the stores. I have several small scissors (a couple of mine and a couple of Mom’s) that I can add.

I rang the doctor and said, “Quick! My pregnant wife’s going into labor, what should I do?” He said, “Is this her first child?” I said, “No, this is her husband.”
STILL SUNNY HERE AND WINDY.
BOY, ITS BEEN SLOW HERE. EVERYONE MUST BE BUSY TAKING DOWN XMAS DECOR AND PLANNING FOR THE NEW YEAR.
ME, I'M DOING THE USUAL STUFF. COOKING, A BIT OF CLEANING HERE AND THERE AND MY FUN STUFF.
I RE-ORGANIZED MY LIVING ROOM SO WAS ABLE TO GET RID OF SOME STUFF AT OUR 'FREE' TABLE. I MUST HAVE HAD 7 CALENDARS FROM DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS. I PREFER MY EXTRA LARGE ONE FOR MAKING NOTES AND BIRTHDAYS.
I AM STILL SLOWLY REORGANIZING HERE AND THERE WHEN I SEE SOMETHING I CAN HANDLE. SOME THINGS TAKE A BIT LONGER SO I TAKE BREAKS IN BETWEEN. EVENTUALLY IT WILL ALL GET DONE. I AM STILL DITHERING ON THE CLOTHING THOUGH. I CAN'T TAKE IT TO GOODWILL AND HATE TOSSING IT OUT. SOME ARE IN ALMOST NEW SHAPE.
I DREW A FEW BIRDS FOR IDEAS FOR SPRING AND SUMMER DOOR HANGINGS.......A HUMMER, CHICKADEES, CARDINALS, BLUEJAY, AND BLUEBIRD. NOW IF ONLY I COULD STAY WITH IT AND GET STARTED ON THEM ALL.
MARYLOU........NO, I NEVER HEARD OF AN EMBROIDERY JOURNAL. FOR MYSELF, I DOUBT I COULD DO SOMETHING EVERY DAY AND STAY WITH IT. THESE DAYS I SKIP DOING THINGS SO MY LIST ALWAYS HAS TO BE BROUGHT FORWARD IN THE HOUSECLEANING DEPT. AND THE SEWING PROJECTS. I HAVE A COUPLE THAT NEED FINISHING. WILL I EVER GET TO THEM? WHO KNOWS.
I AM STILL HAPPILY EATING LEFTOVERS TODAY. WITH SALAD TO ROUND IT OUT, I'M HAPPY. I PLAN TO MAKE THE VEGGIE BEEF SOUP AND THE TATER TOT SAUSAGE CASSEROLE TOMORROW. MY SON IS IN MONTREAL FOR A FEW DAYS WITH HIS DEAR WIFE SO WILL SHOP FOR ME ON SUNDAY. THAT GIVES ME TIME TO COOK ALL DAY SATURDAY. I MAKE THE THINGS HE LIKES TO EAT BEST.
I AM THANKFUL FOR A WARM AND COMFY HOME.
I AM THANKFUL FOR GOOD FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
I AM THANKFUL FOR MY HEALTH.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY. HUGS, QB S

I guess what I've done for two years could be called a 'weaving' journal. An off-white textile, (that I had for yrs.) with a grid, sectioned off, horizontally, into 12 mos. with 31 squares, so, depending on the days in a month, enough squares to do one per day, woven with different colors of pearl cotton. That was 2023. For 2024, I sectioned it off per month, vertically, with black pearl cotton and used the same color per weekday with bright orange for Sundays and bright red for holidays (with an appropriate motif embroidered for that holiday). Did I always keep up day by day? No. Often got behind and had to catch up which I've done today to finish the year, since I misplaced one of my colors that I'd started for Christmas week. It showed up this morning on the carpet in front of me???
You're right QB...keeping at it day by day only works sometimes and I'm definitely NOT starting a daily practice this year. However, I have finished both and it's a bit of an accomplishment to have done two years. It has no purpose, it's just an exercise in marking each day. Some have asked me, What are you going to do with it? By their reaction, they cannot stand to hear, "Nothing"! That's not an acceptable answer in contemporary America. However, all have been impressed with the scope of it and it does show how many days there are in a year at a single glance. This wasn't my inspired idea--I heard/read on the internet of others doing similar projects.
Theresa, sorry for the scare and disruption of your sleep but glad your Mom is okay. Her place must be a good one if someone discovered her like that in the middle of the night. All that about Luke was too complicated for me to figure out, but I'm glad to hear he's settled in and you'll all get back to normal, now. How far is Vicksburg from you? I know it's much close than Maine or Wyoming!
We woke up to a small amount of overnight snow. The sun's out, now, and most if it has melted. I'd better send this. Computer is "funny" and I don't want to have to start over.
Have a good day.

Afternoon y'all!
Indy he's about 7-8 hours from us. Other side of Mississippi. Just 4 miles from Louisiana! He's thriving, so that's a good thing!
So yesterday, another call from the facility for mom! Waiting on an ambulance to take her to the hospital, again! She fell, again! This time she did it right! Broke her left femur! 7 hours in the ER, admitted, and surgery this morning! She was sleeping when I went to visit her! I stayed for a bit, but I am tired, and just sitting there watching her sleep is a bit too much! The anesthesia has to wear off! The plan is tomorrow up and walking. Glad it's not me making her walk! She will be spitting fire at these poor people! I have to give the hospital a list of 3 rehab facilities for mom, by tomorrow! They sent a list, encrypted with a format I don't have! Had to have hubbies help to open it!
In the ER I found out her potassium is high and that is probably why she has been confused etc since Saturday! Thus the falls!
Let my NSDB know what is going on and he's coming tomorrow to see mom. He has not even tried to visit her since my Dsis's funeral in 2022! Now all of a sudden he wants to come! I will remain, or try to, calm and matter of fact. Probably nothing will happen. But with him I am always on my guard! Sad that I have to!
Supper smells awesome! Need to go get it on the table. Love my crockpot! Used the pork roast from NYD, and shredded it to make pulled pork BBQ! Easy supper!

Hello!
I am here early. Last full day of my school break (sad face)
We are working a quilt of my choice. Again it's one made with all fabric on hand. I wanted florals with a black background. Challenging! It's so going, but we're getting through it. One of my friends' mom told me the points would be a B and she was right. Already took a whole row out. (mad face)
All's well here. Mom's oldest and only remaining brother is in the hospital in very poor health. He is 86. He is tough but...
Be well. Happy New Year Tracy

Just stopping in to say hello. I am feeling much better, just a little stuffy in the nose. We did get the tree down and all the decorations packed back up and taken to the basement. The house always looks so bare after all the holiday decorations are gone.
Aaron, Katie and Amelia spent New Year's Eve with us. They played some board games and we had a few snacks. I mostly kept away from them and stayed in my recliner chair. I tested for Covid but was negative so it is/was just a cold. Katie bought a lot of popper type things for Amelia to use and they did one of them in my office. It was not even a New Year's Eve decoration, it was a baby gender reveal popper. They popped that thing and got blue powder all over my desk, computer and wall. I hate anything that pops and Aaron told Katie not to get that stuff, but she did anyway. Oh, he was so angry, especially at Katie. Dean and I were not so angry but Amelia kept saying, "Grandma is gonna hate me". (No. )So.....we spent New Years Day cleaning. Katie was here by 8:00 a.m. because she felt so guilty. She and Dean cleaned most of it. I washed the window curtains, and anything else that was covered in blue powder. Dean and Amelia swim often and their swimming suits and towels are kept on a table in my office. They were all covered. Such a mess. Anyway, all clean now and the office was cleaned from top to bottom.
It was really cold and snowy today. I did not venture out at all.
Theresa, so sorry about your mom. Sending prayers for a swift recovery. Bless her heart.
Devonne, how nice to see you up and cooking!! Don't overdo it.
Sending positive thoughts for you all.
