Bumping this to the top. It's hard to believe that this thread takes us out of 2024 and into 2025!
I hope everyone had a great Christmas, and I wish you all a healthy, happy, prosperous 2025! May God bless us all!

OOPS Thanks Diane, I posted on last weeks thread, apparently I can do that after it's locked - who knew!!!

Good morning.

Quick check in after a whirlwind of activity. Glen has been sick with a stomach virus since Thursday, so I'm not getting around much while I tend to him.
Terrible tornadoes north and south of us yesterday. Prayers are needed. One life lost, others injured, and many homes damaged and/or destroyed. We're fine. We got a lot of wind and no rain. One tornado on Thursday touched down a couple of miles from me. It destroyed one house, and some of the debris went across the street and damaged another house. No other damage. Weird to say the least. No one at home, so all are safe there.
Glad to see so many had a great holiday. Let's hope that 2025 is a year of creativity and peace for all of us.

Conversation between a pharmacist and a female customer: Woman: "I need to buy some arsenic." Pharmacist:" Why do you need arsenic?" Woman: "I need arsenic because I want to kill my husband." Pharmacist: "WHAT?" Woman: "You heard me! I want to kill my husband!" Pharmacist: "Why on earth would you want to do that?" Woman: "Because he's having an affair with YOUR wife!!!" Pharmacist: "Well why didn't you tell me you had a prescription?"
COLD BUT SUNNY TODAY HERE IN THE NORTH COUNTRY.
TRISH......I NEVER SLEEP MORE THAN 3 HOURS AT A STRETCH. I ALWAYS NEED THOSE NATURE CALLS. LOTS OF TIMES I AM DREAMING OF WATER, THE LAKE, OCEAN WAVES, OR THE BAY AND WAKE UP. BUT I GET BACK TO SLEEP PRETTY MUCH QUICKLY. SOMETIMES IT TAKES OVER AN HOUR BUT NOT USUALLY. STILL, I TAKE WHATEVER SLEEP I CAN GET.
CAROL.....SORRY TO HEAR OF THE TORNADO DAMAGES. I'M GLAD YOU WERE MISSED. TAKE CARE.
DEVONNE.......ITS NICE THE LOSS OF THE DRAINAGE DEVICE WASN'T A REALLY BAD THING. I KNOW IT MUST HAVE BEEN SCARY AT THE TIME. PRAYERS CONTINUE FOR YOU GIRL. HUGS.
I MADE THE BIG POT OF MASHED YESTERDAY. HAD A NEIGHBOR NEEDING SOME CARE SO IT CAME IN HANDY. I HAD A COUPLE OTHERS ON MY LIST AS WELL. I HAVE ENOUGH FOR MYSELF TODAY. I'M NOT COOKING TODAY.
ITS MY DAY OF REST AS YOU ALL KNOW. I WILL BE READING, WATCHING TV, AND EATING TODAY. LISTING IN MY JOURNAL WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TOMORROW. I FOUND A TABLE THAT REALLY NEEDS CLEARING OFF IN MY BEDROOM. AND THE DUSTING CAN'T WAIT MUCH LONGER. BUT THAT'S TOMORROW.
ENJOY YOUR DAY TODAY LADIES. HUGS, QB S

It's pouring rain here. We still haven't gotten next door to meet our new neighbor, the mother of the seven children. Planned to go today, but it's raininga hard, if they're even home...unless it stops raining.
Oh, Mary Lou, what a nice turn of events. A long trip after working all day for Lynn. I suspect Bill will do all the driving. Have fun!
ML, Bill, and Andrew drove into Chicago today. The have never yet seen his apt., only photos.
They also needed to take some more stuff and Bill will install curtain rods. Good thing Andrew has a good education. (for the future) He can't do anything like that. Never had any interest. Sheepishly grinned and said he doesn't have any tools. Of course, his dad has and can do anything.
We went to church in our living room as usual. We've "been to church" more in the years since Covid than we did when there was no live stream to watch. They have completed the sanctuary remodel so soon we'll venture out. Besides my issues, the service in the gym was way too loud for Howard's hearing aids. We tried that once.
Trish, we like that soup including Howarf who claims he doesn't like soup that much. Going to have it again, tonight. Like QB, I don't cook on Sunday, also my day of rest...among the others I too often take.
Carol, so sorry Glen has a bug. So miserable for him and for you too in your own way. Hope he's feeling better soon. Prayers for the tornado victims.
I must go. I ran into the granddaughter of one of my deceased classmates in W-M a few days ago. I got HER mother's new phone number and want to a call her. Haven't seen her in years. Her mother and I were the closest of friends and I miss the whole family.
So goodby for now and sweet dreams, tonight.

In warming up the eggplant soup for supper, I realized I forgot some of the ingredients. I'd just made it so thought I remembered everything.
The recipe calls for TWO zucchini (I just had one.) More importantly, 1 cup small shell pasta go in with the tomatoes and broth and if you wish, 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes. I never add that, either. There, it's complete, now. Sorry, one should look at their recipe before passing it on!

INDY I would have added extra so don't worry about it. I don't add pasta to soup, if we want it I'll add at serving, mine seems to go mushy if I cook it into the pasta. Andrew has it made, dad to do his repairs BUT he can cook that's more important, you can always get someone to do the repair jobs.
SANDRA I made mash for his sis, I don't care for it, the Mr's family had it every dinner I couldn't do that - our food was probably a bit adventurous for the time back in the 1960s and 70s Dad took over cooking while mum worked, he had a war injury and was not able to hold down a full time job, so he became "mum" very unusual for those days but it worked in our family.
MARYLOU you will be getting ready for LYN enjoy your time together.
CAROL yuk on Glen's bug, poor guy and you too, cleaning all the time is so tiring. That is so scary about the storms, we haven't had much bad weather here, but in our south fires are raging, and the north flooding. The Dorothea McKellar poem said it well, she mentions 'drought fire and flood' all at the same time . Not in those words.
I had a long talk with my sis, she's still furious at brothers family, still no Happy Christmas, or Happy New Year from any of them, she had sent lovely messages to them all before Xmas with no reply. Boy you don't want to mess wth my sis. She had a lovely day with her family, just them and the kids, grands and spent the day either in the pool or playing with the kids. Miss Bridie is being spoilt this holiday time, she'll be 3 in March, and every day has been to the beach, only 10 mins away from them, she's been having an ice cream cone there, so today she said ' we going to the beach and have ice cream'
Chloe ' no we're going to Sydney today'. Bridie was not impressed LOL
I have my yoga class in a bit, just finished cleaning the bathrooms and doing all the dusting, towels in the wash just hung out. I have been slack this last week, the house is dirty. The Mr is doing the floors, I do wish he wouldn't use the old vac, it smells, but don't want to stop him.
INDY I was just thinking about oysters, you couldn't get them off the rocks now, none left, they are all on oyster farms, shame what kids miss out on these days, Dean would have loved foraging for oysters, he loves them like me.

I think the drain tube came out because of infection. I'll get a prescription for antibiotics tomorrow. Gary has an appt. at Emory with his cardiologist, so Greg is coming to take me.
I got all of my Christmas stuff put in containers/bags. Emily, Sadie Grace and Caleb put it all in the closet today. This is the earliest I've ever taken it down. I wanted to get it done while I have so much help here!
Carol, I'm glad you are ok. I've been waiting for you to post. Sorry Glen is sick.

This farmers wife prayed to the Lord and asked him, "How old will I be when I die?" His reply was 96 years old. She said, "Hot diggity dog, I will have myself fixed up." She had everything lifted and tucked and was in the doctor's office, making the last payment on her reconstruction. She walked out of the doctor's office, started across the street, and was hit and killed. She gets to heaven and asks the Lord, "What happened? You told me that I would live to be 96." His reply: "Sorry, but I just didn't recognize you!"
ITS RAINING HERE TODAY BUT IN THE 30S SO NOT VERY COLD.
CAROL......I HOPE YOUR GLEN HAS IMPROVED AFTER HIS BOUT WITH THE VIRUS.
DEVONNE.......I KNOW YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE INFECTION BUT SOME MEDS WILL SURELY KNOCK THAT RIGHT ON ITS KEISTER. GOOD LUCK TODSAY.
JUDY......REGARDING YOUR RECIPE. I DID THAT JUST RECENTLY WITH MY BUNDIES. WITH THE 2ND BATCH I WAS SURE I REMEMBERED EVERY INGREDIENT BUT I MISSED ONE AND THAT CHANGED THE FLAVOR CONSIDERABLY. I WILL NOT COOK WITHOUT MY RECIPE STARING ME IN THE FACE IN FUTURE.
I HAVE SOME CHORES ON MY LIST TODAY SO NEED TO GET STARTED. AS FOR COOKING, IF I'M TIRED I STILL HAVE SOME LEFTOVERS I CAN EAT. BAKED A CHICKEN BREAST LAST NITE AND HAVE A BIT OF MASHED.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY. HUGS, QB S

Good Morning to everyone!! It is 41* here today. Gloria just got here, so I'll get cleaned today. That's nice to keep it clean in here. I can't do much, so very nice to get it done.
I can't think of anything to say, so will just sign off, wishing you all well and hoping you all have a great Happy New Year, BJ.

All the drain tubes are out...woohoo! Freedom! Also got clear margins from the pathology report, all cancer is gone in the bad side (left) and nothing was found in the good side (right). As for needing chemo, it looks like a NO for this. As for radiation, the medical oncologist will make that decision. I should see him in 2-3 weeks. I won't see this doctor again until a 6 months followup. My family & I were really pleased with him.
Oh...and there is NO infection. He said it's drainage from the drain tube site (hole). He did recommend "butt paste" to keep from getting a yeast infection. Greg went in Walmart and got it.
Sandra, I finally got your card out of the mailbox and your card as well, Trish. Thank you, Sandra. I will take the advice on the card! Greg was impressed I got a Christmas card from Australia and showed it to Carter.

Sandra and Devonne, I received your Christmas cards on Thursday. Sorry for the delay in telling you. I have a nasty cold and have been resting a lot for the past couple days.
Devonne, so glad you got such wonderful results. I continue to pray for a swift recovery.
It has rained an awful lot the past few days and last night we had terrible winds, but no damage, just downed branches and dead trees. Lots around me had no electricity but thankfully we never lost ours. Aaron had a tree come down on his garage so Dean went over today and moved it out of the way until they can get it cut up. Really weird weather for sure.
We had a very nice Christmas but I am glad it is over. I will take the tree down tomorrow.
Judy, I will write that soup recipe down as it sounds delicious. We love soups here, especially in the cold weather.
I usually hit the stores after Christmas to find the bargains but I do not feel like it this year. I will just have to miss out.
Off to take some cough syrup and go to bed. Till later.

Wonderful news Devonne!!!

My friend is a court reporter, and recently she heard this: ATTORNEY: How old is your son, the one living with you? WITNESS: Thirty-eight or thirty-five, I can't remember which. ATTORNEY: How long has he lived with you? WITNESS: Forty-five years.
ITS SUNNY AND LOVELY IN THE 40S TODAY.
I HAVE TO FINISH UP REORGANIZING MY BEDROOM. ALMOST FINISHED. I ALSO NEED TO COOK SOMETHING SO THOUGHT TO BAKE PORK CHOPS WITH VEGGIES.
ANOTHER CHORE IS MARKING MY NEW WALL CALENDAR WITH ALL THE BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES I NEED TO REMEMBER. AND MY DR APPTS THRU THE YEAR. I GOT 2 LOVELY CALENDARS FROM MY KIDS THIS YEAR SO I PLAN TO MARK BOTH AND PUT ONE IN MY KITCHEN AND ONE IN MY LIVING ROOM. I SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY EXCUSES FOR FORGETTING ANYONE THIS YEAR.
AS TO RESOLUTIONS, I DON'T MAKE THEM BUT I DO START MY YEAR OFF EATING BETTER. I SLIP A FEW WEEKS INTO THE YEAR THOUGH. HAPPENS EVERY TIME.
TODAY THERE IS A THIN MAN MOVIE MARATHON ON TCM CHANNEL. ALL 6 MOVIES ARE RUNNING. I LOVE THAT OLD BLACK AND WHITE SERIES SO WILL BE WATCHING THROUGHOUT THE DAY.
WISHING YOU ALL A NICE NEW YEAR'S EVE.

As you know by now I don’t like to drive…never in snow or ice, never at night and don’t like the rain and avoid high traffic areas. My “comfort” zone is about 20-30 miles in either direction on the same road, lol. Today, I had to drive in a high traffic area, in an area I’m not familiar with and it started to rain about 10 mins from home. But I made it. Needed a few cups of coffee and some dark chocolate immediacy. 🥴
hopefully I won’t have to do that again for a long long time.

Happy New Year’s Eve. We’re staying in, as usual.

So are we, staying in. I's raining. Howard is just coming in with the mail. I've had company all afternoon. My friend, Bobbie came over with my birthday presents. She got me four. Always so generous. She also brought some shortbread cookies half dipped in dark chocolate. I thought she brought them for us but after awhile, she suggested we eat our cookies. She'd brought four, two for us and two for Howard and I for later. Oh well...
Cheryl sorry to hear you're under the weather with a icky cold. So debilitating. Glad it waited until after Christmas if you had to get one. Since I never got all my Christmas stuff put up, I'll probably wait until the weekend to take down what I did. That makes little sense, does it?
Devonne yes, wonderful news! Sounds like a clean slate. You'll not ever forget THIS Christmas, will you. Your boys get "A's! Emily and the kids, too. How are your furry kids?
Hope they've been on their best behavior through all this...
QB, I just got out my new calendar. It's a freebie not a beautiful one. My DIL, Pam always gets me one but we didn't get together this year. Maybe I'll see a better one that catches my fancy. Till then, this one will do. Has birds on it which I like. It's just that it's rather dinky.
Need to call ML, then get supper. A tossed, (chopped) salad, leftover soup and smokey links on buns and p. chips. Our long visit prevented me from making the oyster dressing I promised Howard. I'm tired of racing to get food ready on time. Howard seldom eats lunch so he's hungry by 5 o'clock.
This is one year I don't mind seeing go. I'm usually sentimental about the old year but I lost so many friends and family this year and then the endless election hype, etc.
I'm rather glad it's going to be over. Am still grateful for my life, my family and my friends, you all among them. So a very happy New Year with love and many blessings.
Indy
