Re: ODT SUNDAY DEC 22 ~ SAT DEC 28

I was on a business call when I realized I was late for a class at the gym. I must have sounded rushed, because the woman on the phone said, “Am I keeping you from something?”I replied, “I have to leave for tai chi.”“Oh,” she said, sounding intrigued. “What country is that in?”

GOSH, ITS BITTER COLD TODAY.  ONLY IN THE TEENS NOW.  BRRRR.

TRISH.....GOOD TO HEAR YOU ARE DOING BETTER AND GETTING INTO THE SWING OF XMAS.  I'M SURE THE BOYS WILL LOVE THEIR GIFTS.
LOOKED UP TOBLERONE.  SOUNDS TASTY WITH CHOC. NOUGAT AND HONEY.  MMMM GOOD.

HOLLY.....THAT NEWS MUST BE VERY GOOD FOR SOME OF THE GALS.  ITS ABOUT TIME THEY GET WHAT THEY PAID IN FOR.

I DID MY BIT OF CHORES TODAY.  MY SON SHOPS FOR ME TODAY.  I AM MAKING TATER TOT CASSY.  I KNOW HOW HE LOVES IT FOR LUNCH.  I ALSO GOT A GIFT BAG FROM MY NEIGHBOR NEXT DOOR WITH BLUEBERRY JAM AND CANDY IN IT.  ANOTHER LEFT ME A CINNAMON MUFFIN FOR BREAKFAST THIS MORNING.  IT SURE WAS GOOD GOING DOWN.
THE SUN IS BRIGHT BUT ITS COLD, COLD, COLD.  WE EXPECT SOME SNOW ON XMAS EVE SINCE WE DID NOT GET ANY YESTERDAY.

I AM THANKFUL FOR A WARM PLACE TO LIVE.
I AM THANKFUL FOR A THOUGHTFUL FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
I AM THANKFUL FOR STILL BEING ABLE TO COOK AND CARE FOR MYSELF.

STAY SAFE MY FRIENDS.  HAVE A NICE DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Have a wonderful day, Christmas is close!!  Sending love and best wishes, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY DEC 22 ~ SAT DEC 28

Have a great day, ladies.

Emily is going to help me remove the Ace bandage today. It is rather tight, but it's to help with swelling. I could have removed it in 24-48 hours, but I read you could have more pain after removing it. It's getting bunched up, so has to be removed today. There is more tape and sterile strips under the Ace that will dissolve on their own.

Re: ODT SUNDAY DEC 22 ~ SAT DEC 28

Good morning.    We're off  soon to the grocery for last-minute things.  Finally settled on banana puddin' and Waldorf salad  plus the jar of olives I always bring for my Christmas Eve contribution to our meal.

It's cloudy and about 32 this morning.  I just got a call from our local post office.  I ordered a piece of jewelry from JTV on Dec. 7 and it's been " over "h*ll and half of Georgia" in Howard's vernacular  and is finally being delivered today per their app and the phone call. Not the end of the world, but it was on sale, I used my $20 free cash and got free S & H,  plus it was something I really wanted, my birthday present to myself, so I pursued it rather aggressively but politely, with tiresome phone calls.

BJ, don't worry about the size.  If your posts are too small, Trish graciously resizes them and too large isn't a problem.  We're all getting up there and larger is good.  Merry Christmas to all the Kimballs.

QB, I do believe you would feed the world if you could.     Nice to spoil your son a bit with his favorite's and see his pleasure.  Plus it gives you a bit more time with him.

Trish, I hope your time with W's sister goes  (went?) okay.  I know it was thrust on you by his brother and that sticks in your craw, but as always, you both do your best for her. And  you're right, any communication between family is better than silence or acrimony, in the end.

Janet, did you go, or did he back out?    Howard refuses or backs out of anything he can.  Maybe he's a bit better as he ages, but not much.  Oh well, asi es la vida--such is life, in Spanish (for those of you that took French! )  Happy Hanukkah to you and Jerry.

I'd better stop this and go.  If I don't get back...Have a blessed and merry Christmas.
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY DEC 22 ~ SAT DEC 28

A trooper pulls over a priest and immediately smells alcohol on his breath. The next thing he notices is an empty wine bottle lying on the passenger seat. “Have you been drinking?” the officer asks. “Just water,” says the priest. “Then why do I smell wine?” The priest looks at the bottle and shouts, “Good Lord! He’s done it again!”

ANOTHER COLD ONE BUT AT LEAST ITS SUNNY.

JUDY.......I HOPE YOU GET YOUR PACKAGE.  SOMETIMES THEY TAKE A LONG DETOUR.  IT HAPPENED TO MY STAMPS JUST LAST MONTH.  YOU'D THINK THE P.O. WOULD GET IT RIGHT.  DUH.

JANET......HOW NICE YOU HAD A GOOD DINNER WITH FRIENDS.  SOMETIMES I FIND WE CHANGE OVER THE YEARS.  MAYBE THIS IS A GOOD SIGN FOR YOUR HUSBAND.

BJ......WE NEED THE LARGE PRINT FOR SOME OF US WITH EYE ISSUES SO NOT TO WORRY ABOUT PRINTING BIG.

TODAY I NEED TO DO SOME LAUNDRY.  THANK GOODNESS THE GOODIES ARE DONE.  I DID MY MORNING LAPS AFTER MISSING THEM FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS.  ALSO WORKED A BIT ON MY JIGSAW AGAIN.  NICE TO BE BACK IN NORMAL MODE.
I GUESS MOST OF YOU ARE BUSY WITH XMAS COMING ON AND ARE NOT POSTING.  HOPE TO SEE MORE OF YOUR AFTER THE HOLIDAYS.
WILL GET MOVING HERE.  HUGS FOR ALL.  QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY DEC 22 ~ SAT DEC 28

WHEW!!! I am ready! We shopped yesterday, wrapped a few gifts in the afternoon, out for John's birthday dinner, that was so good, we love the company. Up early, put the linen on the spare bed, Megan & I bought new mattress protector, sheets, and I had a doona and cover.
Changed my quilts for the doona, it's pretty but an old one that can be thrown out (Megan's suggestion) SIS in law has MRSA and legs bandaged, but we've heard they are angry red right now, so not taking chances.

I've cooked the turkey breast, made jellies ( forget what you call them LOL ) John likes strawberry and Dean likes lime flavoured LOL

So I am officially ready, stopped the Mr from emailing his brother last night, I pretended to be him and did the email, otherwise it would have ended badly. Pete is with him right now, they are about to leave to bring sis here
As I said WHEW!!!

DEVONNE hope you go the badges off OK, don't they have a nurse to call in and do it, we have home nurses come if they discharge you. Jo across the street had his knee replaced, his little sweet girl comes and takes him for a walk a couple times a week, it was done a few weeks ago, so think that's stopped now.

JANET that was good news, so nice to have friends to enjoy a meal with (((hugs)))

SANDRA I guess you are ready like me now, for a while there I was going to cancel Christmas, thanks to you I feel better.

INDY I agree our SANDRA would feed the world if she could, I love her idea of the village, IF ONLY !!! Waldorf salad is one of my favourites!! I have all the things done for his sis, She will only be here a little over 24 hours, such a lot of work for all that. But it's the last time, so I am making it as special as I can, for both HIM and her.

I really want a nap, I am so tired now, up early and it's going to be hot the next few days. I would love to do some sewing, but that is out. I do have some hand sewing I can do, so might get that out.

I received the most beautiful card from our neighbour Josephine, and I have jam to give her, better get that over while I can, or I might send the Mr over. She does that card craft, they are so special, I will get a pic and show you later

We took the boys shopping with us yesterday, spent 2 hours and then dropped them home, Megan & I went out again to pick up some more things at our local mall, and get John's birthday cake. We now have a tradition for birthdays it seems, it's a Beesting Torte from The Cheesecake shop, so light and delicious, but looks so special too.
I got my jigsaw puzzle from Amazon, so I will take it to them, and we can all do a few days of that each after dinner. The After dinner mints have money wrapped around them, and I found a couple shirts to give the boys, we are giving them more for their birthdays this year than Christmas, John was sweet, he said he didn't want/need anything from us he would rather we spent the time together, how much have his other grandparents missed with these boys

I want a coffee, see you later!

Re: ODT SUNDAY DEC 22 ~ SAT DEC 28

Good evening friends.

It is raining/sleeting right now but it was a pretty day to be out and about today.  We took Gabriel and Amelia to do their shopping for dad, Katie, each other, cousins, us and even let them buy for their mother.   I do not like spending money on her but I think the kids need to give her a gift and their dad refuses.  I do not blame him at all.  It was so busy at the stores and the traffic was horrendous, but we got the errand done and even ate lunch out.

Amelia stayed most of the day with us as she wanted to make cake-pops.  They are easy enough but take a lot of steps and time.  So we baked the cake and let it cool.  Then finished up with the many steps.  She was very happy, especially since I sent them all home with her so she can take them to her mom's house for Christmas.  Dean and I do not like those things, so she got them all.  I think we made 23 or 24 pops.  This was not the best day to do it since I already had plans to make cookies and fudge, but will do that tomorrow instead.

Trish, I just love hearing about your wonderful family!!

Sandra, how nice that your neighbors bring you treats.  It sounds like a bunch of good people living in your building.  I know you sure share a lot with them.

All my wrapping is done but I have a lot of baking/cooking to do tomorrow, so I most likely will not have time to get on here, so..
MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all!!!  Have a wonderful holiday.

Re: ODT SUNDAY DEC 22 ~ SAT DEC 28

Thanks CHERYL
HAPPY CHRISTMAS to you all, it's Christmas Eve here, almost 4pm, Megan and the boys just left, they played UNO with sis for a long time, she had a lot of fun --- she makes the rules, I suspect they favour her playing, she won almost every game. The play seems to change to suit her LOL

Cross fingers for them tomorrow please, Gary's family have told them his sister is in town, neither of them will stay at his parents if she is there, too long a story, her behaviour to them AND the boys has been appalling, much worse than his parents and you know how I feel about them.
FAMILIES and Christmas, recipe for disaster in some cases.

At least here things are looking up, the Mr just had a long call with his brother, who has said it's possible that her visits to either of our homes may not be possible in the future, I suspect that the last visit with them didn't go as well as he led us to believe.
Medically I believe she is OK, I suspect she is severely constipated ( sorry if I caught you unawares with that) I will get W to inform the staff and have them get her some meds for that and see if it work before other options are tried, why do people always go to the 'worst case' instead of trying the easy fix.

I had food she liked and she is enjoying herself, so that is all that is important at this point.

I am TIRED !! I know she will want to stay up late, that will be a problem for the Mr, I need to get some sleep.

p.s. John has already checked out the fridge, he made sure (the right )  jelly was made for tomorrow, that boy  food is his major focus LOL

Re: ODT SUNDAY DEC 22 ~ SAT DEC 28

When my nephew, Victor, was five, I took him to a local stable for a pony ride. He was very impressed that the stable hands were riding without a saddle. I explained to him that it's called riding bareback. When I returned him to his parents, they asked him how he enjoyed his pony ride. He excitedly told them that he saw grownups riding naked!

WE'VE GOT SNOW.  ON XMAS EVE DAY.  AMAZING.  ONLY ABOUT AN INCH BUT PRETTY OUT THERE.

TRISH........I HOPE YOUR VISITOR ISN'T STAYING LONG.  IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BOYS KEEP HER ENTERTAINED A BIT SO THAT'S HELPFUL TO YOU.  JUST REMEMBER IT WILL BE OVER SOON AND YOU CAN GET BACK TO NORMAL.  MERRY CHRISTMAS.

MY DAU AND HER GIRLS WILL BE OVER TODAY.  WOULD YOU BELIEVE HER HUBBY IS WORKING.  HE DOES A BIT OF SNOWPLOWING FOR A COMPANY AND TODAY IT SNOWED.  SO THERE'S PLOWING AND SHOVELING ON HIS SCHEDULE.
ANYWAY, ALL THEIR FOODS ARE READY FOR THEM AND THEIR XMAS GIFTS.  ITS BETTER THEY COME TODAY.  MY SON AND HIS WIFE COME TOMORROW AND MY APT IS SMALL.  I ONLY HAVE 4 CHAIRS.  MY ELDEST GRDAU WILL GRAB THE SOFA.  SHE LOVES HOW COMFY IT IS AND SPREADS OUT TO RELAX WHEN SHE'S HERE.

DOES ANYONE HAVE A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT, LIKE ALEXA OR SOMETHING?  I JUST WONDERED HOW THEY WORK AND IF THEY ARE USEFUL AT ALL.

WISHING YOU ALL A VERY MERRY XMAS EVE.
HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY DEC 22 ~ SAT DEC 28

I have gifts wrapped and a plate of cookies and candy ready to take to my brother’s for the day. It is so good to get to spend time with extended family when I can’t be with my kids (will celebrate Christmas with them much later).

Sandra, I don’t have a virtual assistant but David does. I think the main thing they use it for is music. I often hear one of them say “Alexa, play …” and then name a song. They also have some of their lights programmed in a way that they can tell Alexa to turn certain ones on or off. It seems handy but I don’t want one.

Re: ODT SUNDAY DEC 22 ~ SAT DEC 28

I don't and won't ever have an Alexa.  Don't want "anybody" hanging around listening and/or keeping tabs on us.  My friend, Ruthie always dog sat for her son when they vacationed.  The first thing she did after they left, was pull the plug on Alexa for the same reason.  I'm sure someone more up to date will let you know the advantages.    Seems like those that have it are happy and get a kick out of it.

Trish, you've already had a full Christmas (+ John's birthday)!  Bless you for going the extra mile to make it nice for your SIL.  I laughed that you pretended to be W. and sent that e-mail to his brother.  Women, if nothing else, are resourceful...and we can be a bit secretive, if necessary.
I'm not sure that was the case with this for you, but I was,  this morning.  I carelessly left a lb. of breakfast sausage out all night,  It was frozen from the grocery and I just forgot to put it in the frig to thaw.  Once, I would have told on myself and "tap danced" for my stupidity.  This time, I just threw it away and cooked bacon, as usual.  No need to risk food poisoning or a scolding.  He'll never know...    Not sure, but I think your jellies might be gelatin desserts or what I call jello like one of our brand names, here.

Cheryl that was quite the shopping trip.   Bless you and Dean for your generosity.  She's still their mother and for you to go the extra mile will be something they'll remember all their lives no matter how odious to you.  I say that from experience.  I was the dumped spouse, too and I regret some of my actions at that difficult time but I don't blame Aaron either.  It's a tough row to hoe.  The good thing is he has the kids and Katy sounds like a wonderful partner for him and stepmother to them.

I must go.  Banana puddin' and Waldorf salad calling my name.  I love the way our Virginia family says puddin' so I just must say that, too.

Re: ODT SUNDAY DEC 22 ~ SAT DEC 28

Just took a pain pill so will read later. My pain is under my arms and it's not constant. I just love my doctor. He is so caring and kind. I will get the last two drains out on Monday. The Oxycodone is not for me. I don't like feeling drugged all day. He told me to start taking the Hydrocodone he prescribed me, which I have only taken one of those. The pathology report is still pending.

Linda, I love getting your letters. I used to write letters like that many years ago to my Mom. To answer your question about Billy, he didn't have the Sundown Syndrome. He didn't have dementia or alzheimers, but depression. I think he was born with it.

Everyone will be arriving between 4 and 6. It's wonderful to have all the family here. Gary and Emily have gone to Walmart. He offered to stand in line and return two tops for me. I can only imagine how terrible the return line will be after Christmas! My family have been shining stars.

We are ordering Dominoes pizzas for our evening meal. Gary is making the rotel, beef and Velveta cheese mixture in the crockpot. It's really good with tortilla chips and we will have some store bought sweets. I told Emily no staying in the kitchen all day like Thanksgiving. I put on the simmering pot with oranges, apples, cinnamon sticks, cloves and cranberries. I want to surprise her when they get back so I hope it is smelling good by then.
