I am so sorry, completely forgot about the threads, I knew, but was "gonna" LOL and kept forgetting, THANK YOU DIANE!!
INDY my sincere condolence on the loss of Ruthie, we do expect it I guess as we get older, but we are never ready for it really (((hugs)))
I know the Irish and Celts believe you live on in minds as long as you are spoken about. It's a nice idea.
Another warm day here, I went to the movies, saw the new Tom Hanks film, Here, interesting, I enjoyed it, maybe not everyone's taste, the concept was basically seeing different lives through the years - treated myself to the Gold Class, where you get recliners and coffee/food delivered when you want it. Only about 14 seats in the whole cinema, the recliners are in sets of 2 and I was on my own, they have a table between them for food. You can order from the QR code on the table. There were only 7 of us in the session.
I had a nothing day otherwise, did some cooking tonight, just some little chipolatas and roasted veg and also salads, as it's been hot.
I know MaryLou and Janet do exercises too, it's not just me, I am not good at it, just need to keep moving or I'll seize up LOL and trying to upgrade the weights I use, to 4kg (about 8 1/2lb) I often use 3 kg (6 1/2lb) and sometimes 2kg as well, the 4's are heavy for me, some of the girls use up to 15kgs YIKES --- I DO notice if I haven't been for a couple weeks, I also use a 5kg round plate weight for some exercises - mostly holding like you'd cuddle it LOL
Our friend who's babe died is going to have a tough week, she has to arrange the funeral, she's doing OK her mum says. She's a lovely girl, they had been together for a few years, and just married last Dec, so she is young, she is so bubbly and happy all the time!
I finished the last of my blocks for As Time Goes By, they are just pinwheel blocks, now have to decide how to lay them out. Will be interesting, they are quite bright!
Nothing else for me to report, I have house cleaning in the morning, how does it get so messy with just us??
The bathroom needs a good scrub, guess it's all the rain we have had, then hot/humid, the grout looks grubby to me, or maybe it's my eyes LOL

Linda, I was an early riser as well today; not because I couldn't sleep, but the dogs wanted to go out. Molly heads straight to get water & Gracie to the door.
Carter's favorite hobby is rock collecting (also called rock hounding) and collecting geodes. His Mom took him to Franklin, NC last weekend (it's an hour from where her parents live). Franklin is known as "the gem capital of the world." You can search "by bucket" (depends on how many buckets you want to pay for). He brought me a few. When you hold them under light, you can really see the colors. The garnet rock I laid on my Iphone flashlight and you could see the beautiful red. The geode was beautiful inside, ugly on the outside, lol. He bought that one.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday! We have to get used to the time change.

Good Morning to everyone. I'm not even sure what time it is!! The computer has two different times on it, so confusing!!! It has obviously been raining overnight, the trees are wet as is the driveway.
Coffee tastes so good this morning!! Everyone is still sleeping so I will wait on my shower until others are awake. I'm feeling pretty stupid this morning, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

Happy time change, said no one ever.
Judy, so sorry about your friend. Three of my high school BFF’s didn’t live to see 60, so sad.
Had breakfast, did my computer daily news reading - Boeing has another contract vote tomorrow- and sewed for an hour.
Trish, so sad to hear of anyone losing an infant. Ralph’s grandmother lost a month old baby to a heart defect, and she mourned him til the day she died.
No big plans today, lunch with F and C, crochet, read, TV. Sunny with a high of 60.

We are not bothered by the time change at all. I don’t understand why it matters unless you have to go to work and be on time?
I got up my regular time, had coffee, went to the gym and grocery store. No issues.
Today I plan to get my retreat stuff put away and get my studio back in order. I’ve already unpacked our bags from our scenic railroad excursion.
DH is trying to figure out an electrical issue downstairs? I think we should get an electrician but he says between what he knows and YouTube that’s all he needs. 🤷♀️.

I had a relative who lost their first child, a girls, at birth. Then they had 3 sets of twin boys and then one single boy…never had a girl. I guess after 7 boys they gave up on getting a girl.

This is the true story of George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi, who was going to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the shed. George opened the door to go turn off the light but saw there were people in the shed in the process of stealing things. He immediately phoned the police, who asked, "Is someone in your house?" and George said, "No," and explained the situation. Then they explained that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be there when available. George said, "Okay," hung up, counted to 30, and phoned the police again. "Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people in my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I've just shot them all." Then he hung up. Within five minutes three squad cars, an Armed Response unit, and an ambulance showed up. Of course, the police caught the burglars red-handed. One of the policemen said to George, "I thought you said that you'd shot them!" George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"
I WOKE UP TO A VERY COLD MORNING, ONLY 22 HERE. BRRRR.
TRISH.......I UNDERSTAND YOUR GOLD CLASS MOVIE TICKET. WE HAVE A CINEMA IN OUR TOWN AND ITS LOVELY. THERE ARE RECLINERS, AND THEY HAVE WAITPERSONS COME TO TAKE YOUR ORDER SO YOU CAN SNACK WHILE WATCHING THE MOVIE. LOVE IT THERE. ITS A GREAT WAY TO SPEND AN EVENING.
DEVONNE.....I LOVE GEODES. THEY ARE SO COLORFUL AND BRIGHT.
THE TIME CHANGED AND BEING RETIRED AND NOT WAKING TO AN ALARM CLOCK, IT MATTERS LITTLE TO ME BUT IT SURE MEANS A LOT TO WORKERS WHO GET OUT IN THE WORLD. AND FOR KIDS HEADING DOWN COUNTRY ROADS TO MEET THEIR SCHOOL BUS IN THE MORNING. WHEN ITS TOO DARK, THERE ARE MORE ACCIDENTS AND LOSS OF LIFE FOR THE KIDS.
AS FOR MY DAY, IT WILL BE A DAY OF REST. READING, EATING, AND WATCHING TV ALL DAY. I HAVE LOTS OF LEFTOVERS.
I MADE THE VEGGIE BEEF SOUP YESTERDAY AND HAD SO REDUCE THE AMOUNT I COOKED. IN TASTING THE BROTH WHILE THE BEEF WAS ON ITS LONG SIMMER, IT WAS A BIT SPICY. I HAD ADDED A BIT MORE RED PEPPER FLAKES THAN USUAL. NOT SOMETHING MY NEIGHBORS LIKE VERY MUCH SO I JUST DID NOT OFFER ANY.
IF ITS A BIT TOO HOT FOR ME I JUST DRINK A GLASS OF CHOCOLATE MILK WITH MY MEAL. THE MILK TAKES AWAY THE HEAT. PERSONALLY, I REALLY ENJOYED IT THIS TIME. I HAD CUT BACK ON THE VEGGIES AND WATER ADDED, SO THE BATCH WASN'T TOO BIG, ONLY A COUPLE QUARTS. I WILL BE ABLE TO FINISH IT BEFORE IT GOES BAD. AND ENJOY IT GOING DOWN.
THATS IT FROM ME TODAY. HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A FINE DAY AND ADJUST TO THE TIME CHANGE SOON. HUGS, QB S

Trish, you're welcome! I meant to get back on and start more threads, but time got away from me and I forgot to get back on here.
That poor young couple! Life is a precious gift from God! What heartache to lose a baby! 🙏🏻 Mom still talks about and mourns the loss of my little 3-day-old sister from 1968.
Personally, the time change doesn’t bother me either way. 🤷🏼♀️ It's only an hour, and hubby, son, and I have never really been affected by it. In fact, hubby and I stayed up until 2am, then it was suddenly 1am again! 😂
However, I know a lot of people who are indeed bothered by it, and others who will still be "talking" (read, "complaining") about it weeks from now. 🤪 For those taking medications that are very timely, I can see the tume changes being an issue. And I understand the things Sandra pointed out as well.
I better run. Have a great day, ladies! 🤗🙏🏻

It has begun! I’m waiting for the expletive football game to be over, and there were just two Xmas commercials in a row. A nice change from the political ads. You can tell football is ran by men, an awful lot of standing around doing nothing going on. If women ran it, it would be much more efficient. I want to DVR Tracker, but Comcast hasn’t figured out how to get the whole thing taped when it doesn’t start on time. Also ran by men. Thank goodness for the mute button.
We had a nice lunch with F and C, came home for a nap.

While I'd rather the time never changes, the fall change is welcome to me. That extra hour takes away the need to rush tension I so often feel all during the DST period. I know how silly that sounds but perception is sometimes what matters. From what I've read, we all function better, have a better circadian rhythm and are generally healthier on "sun" time. The AMA and some sleep study outfit recommends that IF our country ever sticks to one year-round time that is should be standard time for those reasons. We know that will never happen.
I started to tell you this yesterday and decided to hold off. I got a phone call telling me that my second cousin, Rhetta had passed on Nov. 1, two days after Ruthie. If you count Fancy, that is 9 friends and family that have died in just over a year. All of these had long lives of between 80 and 92 years (Fancy, 15 1/2 in human years). But, it's still a loss that's felt deeply and you have to process it. I'm so sorry about the loss of the tiny baby.
Andrew has just landed in Orlando for a week of classes for his new job. It's being held at a resort. I thought it was only him as the newbie, but found out it's his whole team and they do this twice a year. All that schooling, all that money for it and now, he's livin' the life!
Will close this. Have another cousin to call and then watch our Sunday night shows.
Sweet Dreams.

Judy, I’ve been trying to remember what we learned about grief in nursing school. Each instance makes it multiply exponentially, so it’s not just one plus one plus one, etc. That’s part of what makes it so hard. And of course, we lose more people as we age. So be kind to yourself, and realize it’s a process that can’t be rushed, it proceeds at =26pxits own pace. Hugs to you.
The time change makes me feel jet lagged. I always found it easier going east to west than west to east.

GOOD MORNING!
HUST A QUICK VISIT. I DID SLEEP BETTER. YESTERDAY FELT LONG. SLEPT WELL LAST NIGHT.
I FEEL LIKE GRIEF IS VERY PERSONAL AND A LIKE A ROLLER
COASTER AND RIDE. IT HAS ITS UPS AND DOWNS. TAKES ITS OWN TIME.
LOST A CLASS MATE AND A FORMER NEIGHBOR. WE HAD GONE TO ALL SCHOOL YEARS TOGETHER.. HAD NOT KEPT UP IN RECENT YEARS. WE GOT MARRIED A DAY APART. A LOT OF CLASSMATES HAVE PASSED. WHEN WE HAD OUR 10 YEAR REUNION, 26 HAD PASSED. WAY ABOVE NATIONAL AVERAGE.

A lawyer runs a stop sign and gets pulled over by a sheriff. He thinks he's smarter being a big shot lawyer from New York and has a better education than any sheriff from West Virginia. The sheriff asks for license and registration. The lawyer asks, "What for?" The sheriff responds, "You didn't come to a complete stop at the stop sign." The lawyer says, "I slowed down and no one was coming." "You still didn't come to a complete stop. License and registration please," say the sheriff impatiently. The lawyer says, "If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and stop, I'll give you my license and registration and you can give me the ticket. If not, you let me go and don't give me the ticket." The sheriff says, "That sounds fair, please exit your vehicle." The lawyer steps out and the sheriff takes out his nightstick and starts beating the lawyer with it. The sheriff says, "Do you want me to stop or just slow down?"
BRRRRRR, ITS A COLD ONE TODAY. ONLY HITTING THE 40S.
HOLLY........I FOUND OUT HOW TO ADD TO MY DVR RECORDINGS THAT FOLLOW A SPORT THAT OFTEN RUNS OVERTIME. AFTER YOU CLICK ON 'RECORD THE SHOW' THEN JUST ADJUST THE TIME TO ADD TO IT. I HAVE SPECTRUM AND I CAN ADD UP TO 2 HRS TO ANY PROGRAM I RECORD. WHICH I DID VERY OFTEN WHEN I WATCHED THE RED SOX. THEY RAN OVER THEIR ALLOTTED 3 HRS SO OFTEN.
WHEN WATCHING REGULART PROGRAMS, I JUST ADD WHATEVER I THINK I MAY NEED. SOMETIMES ITS ONLY A MINUTE WHEN WATCHING A GAME SHOW THAT OFTEN CUTS OFF THE END THAT SHOWS THE WINNING ANSWER. FOR REGULAR PROGRAMS THE SHOW MAY START MUCH LATER BUT I HAVE THE EXTRA TIME ALREADY ADDED SO ITS A WIN-WIN FOR ME. JUST FAST FORWARD THRU THE BEGINNING OF THE SHOW PAST THE END OF A SPORT STILL TELEVISING.
JUDY........THATS A LOT OF LOSSES IN A YEAR. THE OLDER WE GET THE MORE WE LOSE OUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES. SORRY FOR YOUR LOSSES.
DEVONNE......GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR MEDICAL APPT TODAY. CROSSING EVERYTHING I CAN FOR YOU. KNOW THAT THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE COMING.
TODAY IT IS COLD. ONLY HITTING THE 40S ALL DAY. I GUESS I WON'T BE OPENING MY WINDOWS TODAY. MY PLANS ARE THE SAME AS EVERY DAY. I PLAY IT BY EAR AND DO WHAT I WANT WHEN I WANT. RIGHT NOW I'M HAVING FRUIT FOR A LATE BREAKFAST. THEN ITS LEFTOVERS. I DON'T LIKE WASTING FOOD EXPECIALLY WHEN I WENT TO ALL THE TROUBLE TO COOK IT.
HUGS FOR ALL. QB S

Sandra, I end up taping the following show. It’s just annoying.
I made us dippy eggs for breakfast, then he took the lawnmower to be fixed. I paid bills online, then quilted the last two table runners.
I’m waiting for a book to come to my library, they will text me. If it comes in we’ll make a library run.
Dinner is projected to be leftovers.
The good thing about the time change is that I was up early, yay.

Good Monday morning.. Kendra drove me here for a weekend visit. I'm not comfy driving yet but my energy is improving. I want to thank you ladies for the cards and well wishes. It's so heart warming to know there are so many people pulling and praying for me.
We lost power in the storm early this morning. I'm glad I was here to reset things. I hope you are all well as we enter this holiday season.
I am looking forward to 2 more surgeries so I will be taking 1/2 of Dec. off. and back to work Jan. 6.
I hope to get some quilting done. Yay!!!
Love you all, Tracy

Thanks, Holly. I know that's true... I was stunned to hear about Ruthie. The news about Rhetta brought the tears. It was like a double whammy. I hadn't been in close contact with either of them recently so was blind-sided.
Ruthie and I had a long, sometimes complicated friendship. She could be very close-mouthed and only told what she wanted and could ghost you, sometimes. Of course, her choice, therefore, I only knew what her son texted me about her ordeal with colon CA this summer. Then, she led him to believe she was in contact with me so he assumed I was up to date and didn't text me, himself.
But, I had no idea that she was slipping away. She got angry with me last Christmas and hung up on me after a curt, "goodbye, Judy" leaving me sputtering in confusion. I was floored, hurt and I didn't chase her. In retrospect, it may have been her way of distancing herself from me, her only friend, seriously. She was reclusive, suspicious, and a loner. Had move to Georgia 12 yrs. ago to be near her son as she had 4 older daughters, up here, that she was completely estranged from and with her getting older, she felt she should be near him, who she doted on. I never knew what caused the gradual total estrangement, and she always said she didn't either. But, they are nice, normal girls and something was amiss. I don't mean to talk about her, especially since she's gone, now, but it's all so sad. I'm glad her pain is over.
Going on, Howard is camped in the living room with the endless TV so I'm making myself scarce. Aftr he told me he's got a headache, I'm giving him a pass. Glad I asked nicely...
We have the same TV troubles. I knew you could add time front or back to a recorded program but have never quite figured it out, so like Holly, I just record the next program.
Have a small chuck roast in the crock pot on high because I piddled around in my office and didn't get it on as soon as I should have. We've been eating a lot of leftovers, so I need this meal tonight. Seem to have a bone-headed excuse every day for some "lapse"!
Tomorrow, we're planning to go to Ollie's and return the two bras I bought that were the wrong size. My excuse for that is that I seldom buy that article of clothing and I thought I had it right.
Nice to hear from Tracy, herself, knowing a bit about the ordeal she's been going through. Praying and hoping for the best as you continue with your surgeries, dear.
A good evening to all and sweet dreams...

Good evening friends.
Nothing much to say here, my life is pretty boring I guess.
Made some baked pork chops and sweet potatoes for supper. We, too, have been doing left overs or soup or sandwiches for the past few days, so a meal was welcomed. Now we have that for leftovers.
Weather has been just beautiful. Hard to believe it is November. We will go to the actual poll site to vote tomorrow. I have never voted early or mail in. Perhaps some time we will but now we wait till election day. The good thing is that our voting site is usually not crowded at all, just a 10 or 15 minute wait if any. It is in a church and they have comfy chairs lining the hallway for those who would need to sit and wait. We used to have to go to specific machines based on our address but this last time we go to go to the next open one.
Judy, I have a friend like your Ruthie. My friend is Joyce and she ghosts me all the time or cancels almost all of the "dates" we make. She was a teacher at the elementary school when I was a secretary there before I went to the Career Center. We have a lot in common and I miss talking to her. She is in an assisted living house now but can leave and to on outings but she always cancels on me. I am supposed to call her once again this week to make a lunch date but I know she will break it the last minute. Kelli was friend with her too but not as much as Joyce and I and especially not like Kelli and I.
My yard looks so barren now that we have taken all of the potted plants and discarded them and put the pots away for the winter. I still have two near my front porch because my geraniums and petunias are still blooming but just a little scraggly. My ground plants have a nice layer of leaves for winter protection .
Prayers for all.
