Patty, my goodness, it was 80 here today!
Judy, sorry for the bad news!
Devonne, I’m so sorry for the bad news!
Leftovers for dinner. Ralph finished up my chicken parm, and I had pasta. I like pasta better when it’s warmed up than when it’s fresh.

Lots of pictures from the quilt show today. I tested the link. There are 91 photos. I took one of the quilt, a few I took additional close-ups, and then a photo of the quilt information.

Devonne, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! So sorry about your news, I pray you find the answer you need.
Sandra, I do not like to cook either, but hate going out even more, so cook at home it is. The prices for groceries are high but the costs of a meal out is outrageous!
Judy, I am like Howard, I love the heel of the bread. I always take it. Deepest sympathy for the loss of your classmate.
Holly, I make that same meatball recipe. Aaron had to take a covered main dish to his church a couple of weeks ago. Katie does not cook, so he does. He asked me and I shared that easy recipe with him. He said they were all eaten. I often make homemade meatballs but sometimes buy them. I told him to buy everything, put it in a crock pot and be done.
It was a lovely day here today but it is raining now an supposed to get much cooler tomorrow; then back up to 70 for election day. Dean and I still go to the polls on the election day as we have not gotten into early voting. Maybe next time.
Carol, I saw some of the quilt pictures on facebook. They are stunning for sure.

Devonne, that is discouraging news. Whatever you decide, make sure it's what both you and your doctor believe is the best path. It's hard when well-meaning family have their own opinions, but they're not doctors.
Thank you all for the condolences. With Ruthie gone, there are only two of us girls left. Still 3 boys. There were only 12 in our class. Her son said she wanted no services so they are honoring that. I will send him a card. Couldn't go to Georgia for a funeral anyway.
Cheryl, Howard wasn't too keen on early voting as we've never done it, either. But, with my physical limits and from past presidential elections, I was afraid there would be a long, long line at the school on Tuesday. He went along with my wishes. As for the bread heels, he would prefer the other slices, too, but I'm the spoiled one so, again, he defers to my wishes...
After yesterday's news about Ruthie, in my own mind, I was wondering what this day might bring. Didn't have to wait long. As you know, Howard and David are estranged but early this morning, he got a text from David saying he thinks of him every day and loves him. Another stunner. Howard answered him right back, so we'll see... The one thing I know, unless I'm asked, I'm going to keep out of it with my advice and opinion, (even though I think Howard could use it.) Of course, one of the problems is they're too much alike. (IMHO)
Carol, I'm going to look at your pics when I can take the time to savor them. Thanks for sharing them with us.

We were up and out early ish, a little after 9. Any earlier and we hit school traffic. We went to the Amish Market, which is 8 miles away. Got pork chops, chicken salad, pasta salad, pepperoni, and cold cuts. In and out in about 20 minutes!
It drizzled a bit, and is breezy. High today 78, then in the low 60’s for a few days.
We’ve been voting by mail for years. Fun fact- Kelly Ripa from daytime tv- I don’t watch her- her father, Joe Ripa, has been in charge of our county elections for years. There’s a drop box at our boro hall, and you get a post card a few days later with your I voted sticker attached. I can’t do the line standing either.

Good Morning to everyone!! It is pouring down rain this morning, so hopefully I won't have any reason to go outside today!! Wind is blowing, too. I love reading this board, even though there is not much news most days, it is interesting to me.
Well, even though there's not much to read about, I've enjoyed it and will keep you all in my thoughts. Hopefully you all enjoy it, too. However, I will now sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

Why did I get divorced? Well, last week was my birthday. My wife didn't wish me a happy birthday. My parents forgot and so did my kids. I went to work and even my colleagues didn't wish me a happy birthday. As I entered my office, my secretary said, "Happy birthday, boss!" I felt so special. She asked me out for lunch. After lunch, she invited me to her apartment. We went there and she said, "Do you mind if I go into the bedroom for a minute?" "Okay," I said. She came out 5 minutes later with a birthday cake, my wife, my parents, my kids, my friends, & my colleagues all yelling, "SURPRISE!!!" while I was waiting on the sofa... naked.
IT RAINED EARLY AM BUT ITS SUNNY AND BRIGHT NOW. AND TOO WARM. HIGH 70S AGAIN TODAY. I WAS IN SHORTS AFTER MY DR APPT YESTERDAY BUT THE ELASTIC AT THE WAIST WAS NOT FUN. TODAY I AM IN A NO-SLEEVE DRESS. FEELS MUCH BETTER AND COOLER.
JUDY........I HOPE THIS MEANS YOUR HOWARD AND HIS BRO DAVID WILL BE GETTING ALONG MUCH BETTER IN FUTURE. MAYBE HE REALIZES THERE CAN'T BE THAT MANY YEARS LEFT TO EITHER OF THEM. TIME TO HEAL OLD WOUNDS.
DEVONNE......THAT'S A TOUGH CHOICE FOR YOU. I KNOW YOU WILL DO WHAT YOU THINK IS BEST FOR YOU. HUGS AND PRAYERS GIRL.
I GOT A GOOD REPORT FROM MY HEART DOCTOR. HE IS VERY PLEASED WITH ME. ALL TESTS ARE SHOWING GOOD RESULTS. IT WAS A GOOD DAY.
MY DAU. TOOK HOME SOUR CREAM CHICKEN NOODLE CASSY AND HER REPORT WAS GOOD FROM ALL 4 OF THEM LAST NITE. I AM GLAD THEY ENJOYED IT.
I REALLY DON'T MIND IF SOMEONE DOES NOT LIKE SOMETHING I MAKE. WE CAN'T ALL LIKE THE SAME RECIPES. I HAVE SOME HERE THAT DON'T LIKE SPICY, ANOTHER NO TATERS EXCEPT MASHED, ANOTHER NO FRESH TOMATOES IN ANYTHING. AND OF COURSE THERE ARE THE DIABETICS AND THOSE WITH HIGH BP SO I USE VERY LITTLE SALT IN ANY OF MY DISHES. THEY CAN ADD WHAT THEY LIKE, IF ANY.
I TOLD COLL THAT I WAS SURE THE DOGS WOULD EAT IT IF THEY WEREN'T THAT PLEASED. THERE WAS PLENTY OF CHICKEN IN IT.
YES, THE DOGS CAME FOR THE RIDE, TOO. THEY WERE VERY LOVING HANGING OVER THE FRONT SEAT TO GIVE ME SOME LOVING. BIG BLACK DOGS WITH LOTS OF LOVE IN THEM.
TODAY MY ARMS ARE BOTH A LITTLE SORE BUT NOT MUCH. I CAN MOVE THEM AROUND EASILY. THE COVID ARM IS A BIT WORSE THAN THE FLU ARM. I GOT THEM IN SEPARATE ARMS SO I COULD TELL WHICH WAS THE WORSE CULPRIT, IF ANY.
READING IS THE PLAN TODAY AND MAKING SOME PIZZA. I NEED TO DEFROST SOME MEAT AND DECIDE WHAT TO COOK NEXT. I'M THINKING MAYBE SOME VEGGIE BEEF SOUP. THAT GOES OVER WELL HERE AND WOULD WORK WELL FOR THOSE WITH COUGHS. ITS BEEN AWHILE SINCE I ENJOYED SOME.
THAT'S IT LADIES. BE SAFE. TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOURSELF. HUGS FOR ALL. QB S

Devonne- Happy Belated birthday. We were away with limited service.
I got home from the retreat on Monday and we left on Wednesday morning for Staunton, VA to ride the scenic railroad fall foliage train. We have done this train ride twice before this year. It’s perfect for us….just under 2 hours away. We stay in an historic hotel in walking distance to everything we care to do. The other 2 times we went to Patchwork Plus quilt shop, too. It bills itself as the largest quilt shop in VA.

QB, David is Howard's son. The last time we saw David, who lives about 3 hrs. away, was June, 2023 when he rode his motorcycle up here to tell us he was getting a divorce and prior to that was at Mom's funeral in Nov. 2019 which he and his family walked out of early. Other than that, he has sent a text on Father's Day, sometimes. He may be lonely. He divorced Rita in 2023 and the 4 kids all sided with her as far as we know. They were married very young, were very different, never really got along and at 50, he wasn't willing to carry on without a real partner and companion. She, apparently, has picked up the pieces and made a life for herself. Lots of negativity and hard feelings and misunderstanding in the Lyons family that it would take a miracle to overcome. But you're so correct. No one knows how long they have to make things right. I/we won't be holding our breath...

Carol, thank you for the quilt show. The first quilt is my favorite. The quilting is exquisite. They were all beautiful and so well done.
Sandra, that last joke was so funny...got caught with his pants down, lol.
Gary brought me two cases of Zevia Cola and Celsius Peach. He got them at a closeout place for $10 a case. Great price! Zevia is a taste you have to get used to. I only like the Cola, Grape and Ginger Root Beer.
I bought ground beef to fix the meatballs again, but I'll wait until tomorrow. Too late to start it. I'm going to make the 2 lbs. and freeze some of them.
I did one load of laundry today and that's all. Marilynn called me, I took a nap and Gary stopped by.
Judy, you explained that very well about David and Howard. It sounds like David realizes staying "distant" is wrong. I hope Howard can accept his way overdue sentiments and return the same.

Devonne, belated happy birthday wishes for you! It sounds like you had a nice dinner!
I am SO sorry about the news and additional surgery! You remain in my thoughts and prayers!🙏🏻
Carol, thank you for the link! I'll have to look at all the lovely quilts, hopefully tomorrow.
Indy, I hope Howard and David can pick up the pieces and find the relationship they can have at this point, and move on from the one they wish they'd had. 🙏🏻
I'm so sorry to hear about your classmate!
Trish, how are your eyes? Your vision?
BJ, I love reading about your mornings! It was rainy and cool here this morning as well and we've had snow on our mountains! It's crazy to think that it may very well be close to 60 degrees in Seattle next Thursday!
QB, I'm so happy that you got a good report from the doc! 👍🏻
Your posts are always nice to read. You have such a great attitude! 🤗
Janet, I hope you had fun at the retreat as well as the scenic railway! What fun! The fall colors were, are so gorgeous this year! We've had some wind so many trees are now bare.
Cheryl, I continue to keep your son in my prayers! 🙏🏻
Holly, what a warm autumn day you had! Our high was 48.7° here in the foothills in WA!
Theresa, it sounds like you are as busy as ever!
Okay, I better run! I have a few more reviews to finish before the deadline and my account is reviewed. I've met and even exceeded the requirements, but I'd like to have a higher percentage done in case I find more items I'd like to order over the next couple of weeks.👍🏻
Have a wonderful weekend!

SANDRA so good to hear you had a good report from your heart Dr, hope you don't have any further effects form the jabs! I usually get sore arm for a bit, same as HOLLY worth it though. I made some soup too, so cold here today, after being so hot yesterday, and we are expecting some more weird weather, either really hot OR cold LOL Spring in Australia !!
DEVONNE I am so sorry I missed it HAPPY BIRTHDAY - wishing you happiness and good health ! You had a mixed day, some not so great news, but your Dr will guide you through it. I think family want the fix that seems like it's the best solution BUT they aren't the people with the knowledge, and you too, you will have an idea of how you want to proceed, after digesting it all ((((hugs))))
INDY sounds like the L family are very much like the W family, sometimes you are darned if you do AND if you don't, I hope this means that H will have contact with his son, time will tell --- hope you feel better soon, it does drag on for a long time, I found that using a nasal spray helped with the coughing IF its caused by the post nasal drip.
I need to go back and read some more, I know I have missed commenting,
CAROL thanks for the quilt show, such talent, I did see a pic of a tiny one, done all in silks, even the "frame" of the quilt. Such incredible work.
I have been pottering, did some more cutting of leftover fabric from my Diamond Jane Austen, I had so much left over, just not enough background for a small quilt, but I am hoping to get a tiny one done, it hopefully will be about 36" x 40" no idea what I'll do with it, maybe Bridie can have it for her dolls, although she is pretty rough with her dolls, she's more of a climb the trees kind of girl LOL
OOPS alarm just went off - every 4 hours for the drops seems to come around fast, I'm not patient, I want the next surgery over with already, only another week or so to go LOL
DIANE good to see you, I'm fine with the eyes, they do get tired with me reading and sewing a lot, it's just the different vision - not too different, just one is brighter and clearer, and I think it's working harder to compensate LOL
JANET the railway sounds good, we went on a fantastic one in Wales, and we have one just an hour away in our Blue Mountains, it goes straight down, haven't been on it in years, it's a bit scary going down, up is as bad, you face down both ways LOL The one in Wales was spectacular, up Mt Snowdon, possibly the most beautiful one we've even been on as far as scenery goes, Pilatus in Switzerland was good, but snow covered, so not as pretty as the rolling hills.
Went to training this morning, it was quite cool, so nice to workout, Thursdays was so very hot, even at 9.30am, we were all pretty damp when we finished, going to be the same next Thursday apparently, something to look forward to LOL

Good morning, friends. Even though I don’t usually make many individual comments, I think about and care about each of you. It just seems redundant to make the same comments that others do.
My 4 days at retreat were great. There were 7 members of my guild who attended and the first two days there was another group of 8. The only problems with two groups was the noise level and coordinating use of the kitchen. Also one of the two AC units in the large workroom was not functioning so it was rather hot on Monday and Tuesday. By Thursday the weather had changed so much that we needed to turn on the heat.
I got a good bit done but, as expected, not everything I took. I already had all the blocks completed for a quilt for one of my great granddaughters, which I managed to assemble. Then I made a wall hanging that was our mystery project. I also took some partially completed blocks for 3 quilts of valor tops, got one done and another about half done. And I completed 9 blocks for another quilt by using them as leaders and enders. After so much time sewing, I really enjoyed the massage on Thursday afternoon (we always have a massage therapist come on our last full day).
I got home about noon on Friday, unloaded the car, had some lunch, then took a 3 hour nap! I didn’t sleep very well at retreat because my roommate wanted to leave the noisy bathroom fan on as a sound machine and I am used to total quiet.

Sounds like a great get-away, Mary Lou. And, you got a LOT done! People's sleeping habits can be so different. White noise is good unless you can't stand it...and that would be me, too.
QB, so happy for your good reports and that you've gotten your shots done. Nice to be loved on by sweet dogs, especially when you no longer have one. All in all, a good day.
Carol, thank you so much. Such incredible quilts. That must have been a labor of love and is so appreciated by those of us that couldn't be there in person. Hope your teaching assignment is going well.
It's sunny and chilly, here. Howard and I heard two entirely different weather reports--rain for the next two days and no rain til Monday. So far, his is winning!
Going now to fix us some breakfast. We're slow-moving this morning. Have a great weekend.

Ralph just told me that it makes him happy when he goes in the kitchen and the crockpot is set up, because he knows something good will be made. Today it’s thick cut pork chops and sauerkraut. He might add a couple of hot dogs the last hour, for later.
I got that going, made my cup of tea and breakfast sandwich, and did my computer reading. Then I popped into the sewing room and topstitch/ quilted one of the table runners. 3 more to go of this batch!
Mary Lou, your retreat sounds fun, except for the roommate part. Is it possible to have your own room? I was amazed when I worked nights at how many people leave the TV on all night, and of course they were always in a room with someone who didn’t.
Sunny and 60’s for the weekend! We’ve had a ton of birds visiting the feeders.

Good Morning to everyone!! It is so still outside, not a breath of air moving. I have no plans for the day. Do believe Rhonda is coming by later. That will be a nice visit. Not sure when I'll see Tracy again. Know she is healing well, so that's a good thing.
I really don't have anything to say, so will sign off. Hope you all are feeling well, BJ.

A proud and confident genius makes a bet with an idiot. The genius says, "Hey idiot, every question I ask you that you don't know the answer, you have to give me $5. And if you ask me a question and I can't answer yours I will give you $5,000." The idiot says, "Okay." The genius then asks, "How many continents are there in the world?" The idiot doesn't know and hands over the $5. The idiot says, "Now me ask: what animal stands with two legs but sleeps with three?" The genius tries and searches very hard for the answer but gives up and hands over the $5000. The genius says, "Dang it, I lost. By the way, what was the answer to your question?" The idiot hands over $5.
I HAVE TO ADMIT I HAD TO THINK ABOUT THIS JOKE BEFORE I SAW THE LIGHT.
THANK YOU MOTHER NATURE FOR BRINGING BACK THE COOLER WEATHER.
IT WAS SO HOT IN MY APT YESTERDAY I FELT NO ENERGY AT ALL. TOO DA.... HOT. SO THE PIZZA HAD TO WAIT TIL LATE WHEN THE COOLER AIR FILTERED INTO MY APT. BEFORE I TURNED ON THE OVEN. TOO LATE TO SHARE WITH NEIGHBORS SO I HAVE LOTS FOR LEFTOVERS.
TODAY WILL BE THE VEGGIE BEEF SOUP ON THE MENU. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO IT.
MARYLOU......IT SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD TIME AT RETREAT EXCEPT FOR A COUPLE THINGS. GOOD FOR YOU.
I AM AMAZED AT HOW MANY QUILTS YOU MANAGE TO MAKE THRU THE YEAR. I'M GLAD SOME GO TO CHARITY. A GOOD CAUSE IS WORTH ALL THAT EFFORT.
TRISH......HOW YOU CAN GO THRU TRAINING ALL THE TIME IS TIRING TO ME. I APPLAUD YOU.
JANET......WE HAVE A SCENIC R R HERE IN CONWAY NH WHICH IS ABOUT 40 MILES FROM ME. ITS ALWAYS BUSY. THE FALL TRIPS ARE THE BEST AND THERE'S THE DINING TRIP. IT VERY POPULAR.
LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER QUIET DAY FOR ME. A BIT OF CLEANING, A BIT OF COOKING. MOSTLY READING TODAY. I AM ON A RITA MAE BROWN BOOK, THE BIG CAT NAP. LARGE PRINT, TOO. I LOVE THE LITTLE ANIMALS THAT HELP, THE CORGI DOG AND THE TWO CATS. ITS A GOOD SERIES.
HAVE A GOOD DAY FRIENDS. HUGS, QB S
