Theresa, how wonderful you have extra machines you can donate.
Janet, you will need help if you get sick, especially if Jerry isn't able to help you. I can't lift anything heavy, so my family has come to my rescue by taking the trash out, trimming my hedges, putting the laundry basket on the bed so I can fold my clothes. It's all little things, but it adds up.
Emily made mashed potatoes, something soft for my irritated throat; that was really thoughtful of her. Gary brought me homemade chili. I did a grocery delivery yesterday and thankfully, they were here when it was delivered last night. I have enough food for a month, lol.
Gary installed a new shower head I got from Amazon. I've always wanted one with the handheld sprayer and a main sprayer. I love it, but I'm so short, I can't reach where the button is to change sprayers. He is getting an extension to make it longer.
Still fatigued today; didn't sleep much last night. Hope to get a nap.

Sending get well wishes to you, Devonne and Judy.
Theresa, so generous of you to donate sewing machines! I never would have thought of a sewing machine as a needed donation after a disaster but I can sure see it now. I still am in horror at the widespread destruction from that hurricane.
Devonne, we have one of those shower heads in our walk in shower. We wanted it when we had Brutus, the lab, to bathe him. He has been gone now nearly 10 years and we no longer use that little hand held one. I thought I would use it when I shaved my legs, but HAHAHA!! I don't do that much anymore either. I just store my soaps and shampoos on the bench seat.
Offline
DEVONNE sounds like you are feeling better every day ((((hugs)))) so glad for you that you have the family helping, it's nice of E to think of you with mash as well !
SANDRA loving your jokes, the fast 0-200 was a goodie, I'll send it on to friends LOL I have just been pottering too, I made a silly mistake today, went to the mall, if I spent $30 in each of 3 places I got an extra 1000 points on my rewards card, silly me, I was planning on getting new Apple earphones, $30, they were out of stock, so got some others, and a lipstick, would be over $30 methinks, NOPE the lipstick was 1/2 price, should have checked before I bought LOL
Now I have to do it again next week, there's always something I can get at the store for the price.
THERESA great idea to give away the machines, I am giving away quilts this week, taking some to my sis, her family love them I have too many, win, win.
CHERYL M & G do exactly that with her dogs, those shower heads are great for that, only problem - someone has to stand outside to make sure they can't barge out of the shower. LOL
HOLLY I had water with all my meals in Rome, must have just been where she was, that's a shame - we loved it there, and Dublin was OK, not my favourite place, it was really expensive there, countryside was gorgeous, but Dublin city was very crowded, especially around Temple Bar, we didn't go near the airport.
JANE I know you can hire people here too, but if family is close (meaning loving and close, not distance LOL) it's great that they can help, we had a company called SilverChain to care for Dianne at home (meds, etc, ) they could give injections for pain, and also supply people to clean, do chores. It was such a bonus, left us time to spend together, She had them sort all her photos, and she had books made for the girls and me, a wonderful thing to get from her after she died, the girls finished mine, she couldn't quite finish it, but she had written my birthday card to go with it.
STRINGS that was great info, I wish we had been to that shop, we did see a few fantastic shops there !!
INDY hope you are feeling lots better, just be careful, the 'flu is really bad his year, and it started it's rounds early here, people laid up for a few weeks, and they're the healthy ones!!
I picked up Dean today, it was pretty hot, we stopped (McDs of course ) and got a Grimace shake forJohn and a choc one for Dean, they both had lovely manners, and said thanks nana, love you! so I got my reward LOL
I had my specialist appt - he's happy, told him my eye was still quite scratchy, and he wanted to stop one lot of drops, it's been much better last day after that, it was getting quite uncomfortable, apparently he only wanted 2 lots of drops for one week, then just one of them the next few weeks, so it's not a big deal that one is out - next eye scheduled for Nov 11. Hopefully that won't be as bad, it's not as thick.
I wasn't happy about the wait, I was there 2 1/2 hours, lucky I parked in the free parking in the shopping close by and walked up, only about 10 mins walk. parking would have been expensive otherwise !

Almost ready to leave for retreat. It’s a short ride. Hopefully no issues and no drama. There’s always at least one who creates a stir. There are only 18 this year. Usually 24. We had to “recruit “ a few from another Guikd to reach the minimum. Not sure why? I go to another every January and they take 54 and have a waiting list!
Offline
Janet, seems like every group has one who loves to create drama, and be the center of attention. Very annoying. Have a great time!
I just booked appointments for this morning for him to get his flu shot, and me to get flu and Covid. He won’t get another Covid, I think he’s playing with fire.
Steph and Dan are home, yay! They had the usual Sea Tac layover, she said the meal there was more expensive than anything in Rome or Florence. They left Rome early in the morning, had a 3 hour layover in Dublin and one at Sea Tac, landed in Portland at 9 pm their time.
Trish, John and Dean sound like such good kids!

Good Morning. I really don't have much to say, think my mind isn't what it used to be. It is very cloudy this morning, believe it rained overnight. It is 46* this morning.
I really must sign off, my mind isn't working at all. Sending love and best wishes, BJ.

Got our shots, mailed a package to Steph, and got Saladworks for lunch and dinner. So nice out, sunny and 70’s.

A lady comes home from her doctor's appointment grinning from ear to ear. Her husband asks, "Why are you so happy?" The wife says, "The doctor told me that for a forty-five year old woman, I have the breasts of a eighteen year old." "Oh yeah?" quipped her husband, "What did he say about your forty-five year old ass?" She said, "Your name never came up in the conversation."
LOVELY OUTSIDE. I CLEANED OUT MY FRIDGE THEN I TOOK OUT MY TRASH AND RECYCLES.
THERE'S BINGO TONITE BUT OUR REGULAR CALLER IS STILL HAVING A BAD TIME WITH HER COLD AND COUGHING SO SHE WON'T BE THERE. LUCKY WE HAVE 2 REGULAR CALLERS.
JUDY......GLAD YOU ARE FEELING BETTER.
BJ......I HOPE TRACY IS DOING BETTER. SORRY YOU ARE WITHOUT ENERGY THESE DAYS.
CHERYL......I KNOW, I KNOW. WHEN WE GET OLDER WE RARELY HAVE TO SHAVE OUR LEGS.
LINDA.......I HOPE YOU ARE DOING WELL TODAY.
DEVONNE......GLAD YOU ARE IMPROVING AND YOU SLEPT WELL LAST NITE.
HAVE A LOVELY DAY. HUGS, QB S

Got our groceries, yesterday, and I fared okay. Feel good today but wonder how one body can produce so much phlegm, etc. Sorry for being gross... Howard's out to lunch with Dave. I'm enjoying the solitude after a nice call with ML. Hard to buckle down when "the cat's away". I always tell myself I'll get busy when he darkens the door.
We always use a hand-held shower. Couldn't live without one. Trish I loved your use of the word "barge". It's so totally appropriate for animals who trying to escape. Stangely, little Fancy loved a bath...even better after I started turning her with her face away from me. Guess I could control the spray better. But then, I always bathed her in the kitchen sink and she was, more or less unable to do anything. They all shake as soon as they can, though, so one always gets a bit wet. Cheryl, me too on the leg shaving.
Devonne, it's nice to be loved and cared for and shown how much you mean to your family.
They're doing great. Enjoy the attention. Before long, you'll be back at it just like before. and glad of that, too.
Somebody's running something somewhere outside. I wonder what it is? We have brand new neighbors next door in the woods. Can hear their children playing and Shena saw a young boy getting the mail. Howard and I are planning to drive down their long driveway as soon as as I'm completely well to greet them. We neither one want to do this, but we both know we should, and will. While folks around here are friendly enough, most of us keep to ourselves.
It's just not like it was years ago when everyone knew each other and each other's families and history and so forth. Maybe farm families were more like that.
Janet, hope you have a good time at your retreat, in spite of "whatever". Getting away is the ticket sometimes and there's always your ear buds and your own music. (I think that's been your plan, before.)
Enjoy your afternoon. Sunny and warmish here. Bit windy. Leaves are in full color and so pretty, and coming down quite quickly.

It's a gorgeous day here with a slight breeze. Went outside to sit on the patio and Marilynn called me. She goes every 3 months and stayed in St. Louis for a year. She is doing well.
I have azaleas blooming and beautiful roses. I'll try to get some pictures later.
Janet, have fun at the retreat. I agree with Judy about the ear buds, lol.
Judy, things aren't like they were years ago. In the 70's, I had great neighbors. Jane, my neighbor/best friend, used to come over and borrow a tray of ice cubes, sugar or whatever she needed. I did the same with her, except I always kept my ice trays full, lol!
BJ, hope you feel better tomorrow.
Cheryl, I will try to bathe the dogs in the shower and see how it goes. They are too big now to put in the kitchen sink, where I always bathed them. It's going to be awhile before I can bathe them. Was on my to do list, but never happened.
I got a good night's sleep and my throat is much better today. The main problem I have is fatigue.
Offline
Whew! Most days I take frequent breaks to rest. Today I have kept moving. Nothing I did was especially hard but without breaks, I got tired. I have a list of things to accomplish in the next few days to be completely prepared for retreat and can now mark off getting Covid vaccine, cleaning and storing hummingbird feeders, cleaning inside of car after driving through car wash, and some regular household chores. I still have several things on the list, including washing sheets, doing some other laundry so I have enough clean clothes to take, preparing some food to take (need to do last minute grocery shopping for that), and going to a doctors appointment.

Holly- DH got his flu and pneumonia shot yesterday. He’s thinking about Covid vaccine. I’ll get my flu shot after retreat. Undecided about pneumonia shot and not getting Covid vac.
1st day of retreat got off to a shaker start.
Offline
I got the pneumonia shot last year, it’s a one time. I’m thinking about the RSV, Ralph thinks I’m nuts. Has anyone gotten it?
I have two tender arms and feel feverish, but don’t feel as lousy as I did last year.

I got flu shot one morning last week, went to exercise class that afternoon. I had no side effects from the shot other than very slight sore arm. I don’t know if there really was a connection but am testing it again this week. I got Covid vaccine this morning and went to exercise this afternoon. So far, so good!

Good Morning to everyone!! It is sprinkling outside this morning, so it's sort of wet everywhere. Sorry I'm not very bright this morning, so will just sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

Every ten years, the monks in the monastery are allowed to break their vow of silence to speak two words. Ten years go by and it’s one monk’s first chance. He thinks for a second before saying, “Food bad.” Ten years later, he says, “Bed hard.” It’s the big day, a decade later. He gives the head monk a long stare and says, “I quit.” “I’m not surprised,” the head monk says. “You’ve been complaining ever since you got here.”
LOVELY DAY IN THE 60S TODAY. LOVE IT.
JUDY........I KNOW ABOUT PHLEGM. MY SINUSES GIVE ME PLENTY EVERY DAY. I LEARNED TO LIVE WITH IT.
AS FOR HAND-HELD SHOWER HEAD, I USE MINE EVERY DAY. ITS A PLUS.
JANET.......ENJOY YOUR RETREAT.
MARYLOU.......I GET MY COVID AND FLU SHOTS THIS TUESDAY. THEY ARE A LITTLE LATE THIS YEAR BUT ITS IN THE BUILDING SO I DON'T HAVE TO MAKE AN APPT. ANYWHERE. A BLESSING.
I WON 50 CENTS AT BINGO LAST NITE. ALWAYS A GOOD THING.
TODAY WILL BE POACHED EGGS ON TOAST FOR LUNCH. I LOVE MY POACHED EGGS. I ALWAYS ENJOY BREAKFAST FOR LUNCH.
HAVE A GOOD DAY FRIENDS. HUGS, QB S

I'm feeling good this morning. Have a list of things to do but have already had two distressing texts with medical issues from ML and friend, Cheryl. Life seems never to be very calm and peaceful and I can easily get derailed. Sorry, seems like I'm always whining about something.
Mary Lou, you're setting the house on fire! Glad to hear you feel good enough to do all that. The necessary time of resting can derail me, too, as in it's hard to get started again. I've used that excuse, ad nauseum!
Poor Howard. Yesterday, (lunch with Dave) He thought he ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and either he misspoke or he was misunderstood. He ended up with the grilled cheese he paid for and left it at that...not his favorite sandwich. He would have told me, "Well, you'll be more careful the next time!" so I had to razz him some!
Devonne, your flowers sound lovely. And nice that you can still enjoy your patio. Up here, summer seems to extend well into fall, beyond what you'd expect. However, when it's calendar-time for spring and warm weather, IMHO, we often have extended chilly, even cold rather wintry weather. Nice that Marilynn is keeping up with you and giving you support at this time. Do you think your dogs know there's something a bit different?
This afternoon is my potato salad making time. Since it's always a 'by guess or by golly' endeavor, it'll turn out like it wants to. I make my grandma's "recipe" and that's how she made it. Must have learned by osmosis as she never taught me anything about cooking and I never wanted to til I had to. Anyway, the hostess for tomorrow asked me if I'd bring it.
With that, I'll close. Have a lovely day and "keep calm and carry on" WHO said that?

When Ralph got home from breakfast with the Veterans, we went and I got my hair cut, then we went across the street to Aldi. It’s a little cooler today, in the 60’s but nice and sunny.
I finished the yellow, green and white baby afghan. I had 2 bags of odds and ends of yarn that I won’t use, so I asked on the town chat if anyone could use it. It got picked up yesterday, yay!
The union negotiations with Boeing are not going well. Manda already had a week of furlough, and the word is they plan to lay off 10% of employees in November. The sticking point is pensions, the machinists union wants the pension plan reinstated and Boeing is balking. As a union person collecting a pension, I can’t fault them.

Good evening.
My doc wants me to get the flu shot, Covid, Tetnus (DTAP), pneumonia and shingles shots. I said "Don't think so." She said at least get the Tetnus because it has pertussis (sp?) for whooping cough and pneumonia ones. Does anybody get the shingle one? I know some you have had shingles, Janet I think, but do you get the vaccine now? Not getting Covid this year, but got them all before. Flu shot always makes me sore and sick.
Holly, I can understand the pension hold out too, not many companies these days offer any sort of pensions.
Judy, Dean and I grew up in a tiny village and everybody knew everybody and their whole family! We know our neighbors somewhat but do not visit. Dean cuts grass for three widows in our area and we were very friendly with a gentleman who died a couple years ago. Young people moved into his house and we do not know them at all. Dean went over and welcomed them and talked to them when they first moved in but that was all.
