Bumping to the top!
We went to another memorial this weekend for my grand niece. I pray that is the last memorial for a good long while!
Both memorials were lovely, both weekends had gorgeous weather.
DH and I have been running around every weekend for several weeks, and tomorrow afternoon is going to be one of relaxation! Unless DS visits and brings his pup, then we'll go for a walk along the lake or river, which also sounds lovely! However, we saw him today, went to his place after the memorial, and I think he's looking forward to a relaxing day himself.👍🏻
Devonne, I'll be thinking of you this week! 🙏🏻
I hope everyone has a great week, and I pray that those affected by the storms are getting along better now. I also pray that hurricane season comes to a quiet END! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

GOOD MORNING!
WE ARE OKAY. HAVING LOVELY WEATHER YESTERDAY AND TODAY. THIS COMING WEEK IT WILL BE FALL WEATHER. MAY NEED TO START THE FURNICE. TODAY 80-82 DEGREES.
THING OF THOSE WITH FAMILY FACING HEALT ISSUES. DEVONNE WILL BE THINKING OF YOU.
THINKING OF EVERYONE. PRAYERS...........
Online!
A husband and wife were driving through Louisiana. As they approached Natchitoches, they started arguing about the pronunciation of the town. They argued back and forth, then they stopped for lunch. At the counter, the husband asked the blonde waitress, "Before we order, could you please settle an argument for us? Would you please pronounce where we are very slowly?" She leaned over the counter and said, "Burrr-gerrr Kiiing."
IT WAS SO WINDY YESTERDAY WE LOST POWER FOR NEARLY 4 HOURS. I WAS SURPRISED SINCE IT LOOKED SO FINE OUTDOORS THOUGH I COULD SEE THE TOPS OF THE TREES SWAYING A BIT. DOESN'T TAKE MUCH HERE TO LOSE POWER. LIKE I SAY, ONE ONLY HAS TO SNEEZE AND WE LOSE IT.
I AM READING A VERY GOOD BOOK, THE LIBRARIAN SPY, A NOVEL OF WORLD WAR II BY MADELINE MARTIN. IT DELVES INTO THE BACKGROUND OF HAPPENINGS DURING THAT TIME IN FRANCE AND PORTUGAL....THE RESISTENCE, THE SPYING, THE HUNGER, THE TURNCOATS. VERY INTERESTING BECAUSE I LEARNED THINGS I NEVER KNEW BEFORE. ITS A NOVEL BUT YOU AND I KNOW THAT MUCH RESEARCH GOES INTO THE BACKGROUNDS OF HOW THINGS REALLY WERE DURING THOSE TIMES. ITS NOT MY USUAL FAVORED READING, BUT ITS SO DARN INTERESTING. JUST THOUGHT I WOULD LET YOU KNOW.
TODAY IS MY DAY OF REST, OF COURSE, BUT I NEED TO COOK SO I AM GOING TO BAKE SOME PORK CHOPS WITH POTATOES AND CARROTS. I WILL MAKE ENOUGH FOR LEFTOVERS PER USUAL.
MY SON IS WINGING HIS WAY TO SAN JUAN. I HOPE HE ENJOYS GREAT WEATHER. HE WILL BE FLYING HOME OF FRIDAY NEXT.
TEMPS HERE IN THE 50S. NITES INTHE 30S. I DID NOT YET OPEN A WINDOW SO MAYBE IT WILL STAY COOL ENOUGH FOR ME TODAY. NO HEAT ON THOUGH. REMEMBER I AM THE ONE SANDWICHED BETWEEN APTS SO I DON'T HAVE TO PUT ON MY HEAT TOO MUCH. I GET PLENTY FROM ALL AROUND ME. TOO MUCH ACTUALLY.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY. HUGS, QB S

Sandra, our power blips so often that we don’t reset the stove clock. You can’t turn on the oven if the time is not set, so we just click set, so the time is never right.
It’s going to be close to 80 today, low of 60. Heat off, some windows open, short sleeves.
I did a new blog post with pix.
Online!
HOLLY......I AGREE WITH YOU ON JEN CHIAVERINI'S BOOKS. I READ A FEW OF THEM AND I JUST DON'T FIND THEM AS GOOD READING AS OTHER BOOKS. I HAVE STOPPED GETTING HERS.
AS TO THE CLOCKS GETTING RESET, I HAVE MY STOVE AND MICROWAVE CLOCKS THAT I RESET BECAUSE I TEND TO LOOK AT THEIR FACES WHEN COOKING. THANKFULLY I ALSO HAVE A COUPLE OF BATTERY CLOCKS THAT DON'T NEED ANY ASSISTANCE.
DEVONNE......SORRY I HAVE NO ANSWER ABOUT EMILY'S COVID. I KNOW I WOULD BE VERY, VERY CAREFUL THOUGH.

Good Morning!! I'm not very bright this morning, just got out of shower. Need to go comb my hair and put some makeup on, then I'll rest. It's a beautiful day outside, 50*. Slight breeze up high, but none down low. I really don't have anything to say this morning, so will just sign off, hope you are all doing well, BJ.

Ok, ladies...I made the Spanish bar cake and I cheated, lol. Here's my ingredients.
and here's what it looked like....it's pretty good, wish I had added even more raisins. Tomorrow I will freeze it in individual slices. The less icing, the better.
My laundry is caught up and I have 30 pairs of shoes going to Goodwill. Only good supportive shoes from now on for me.

quick check in, cleaning the house before I head to hospital
DEVONNE I would be careful and mask up when you’re with them, she could pass it to you OR Gary, if she comes into your house I would ask her to mask up as well, hard to ask, but it’s your health ❤️❤️
The Mr has gone out shopping for his sister, I hope he gets back soon - I downloaded an Uber App, so I can get to places without him.
Better finish up here, sheets done (washed dried and on bed again 🤣) floors 1/2 done, then I need to get in the shower, I need to be showered and shampoo’d, but no makeup. I usually like a bit of blush and lipstick, so I’ll feel awful going out like that 😄
I had decided on a top, then realised I needed an arm 1/2 free for the sedation, so have to get something else out. I assume they’ll just cover me, not gown up 🤣, maybe I’m wrong.
SEE you later 😄😄

Five out of six people agree that Russian Roulette is safe.
HEY, ITS RAINING HERE TODAY. WE CAN USE IT.
I CANNOT RECOMMEND THE BOOK THE LIBRARIAN SPY. I LIKE HISTORY AND I LIKE LIGHT READING, BUT THIS IS NOT LIGHT READING. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT HOW NAZI-OCCUPIED COUNTRIES WERE TREATED AND EVEN NEUTRAL COUNTRIES THAT HAD NAZIS PROWLING THEIR STREETS, THEN IT WOULD WORK FOR YOU. I AM SKIPPING MANY PARAGRAPHS AND READING SOME OF THEM THAT ARE NOT AS BAD. I GOT DEEP INTO THE STORY BEFORE THE TOUGH STUFF STARTED NAPPENING. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED BACK THEN BUT NOT READ ALL THE PARTICULARS. I ALSO WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR 2 HEROINES BY THE END OF THE BOOK. SO LADIES, ITS NOT SOMETHING I WOULD EVER READ AGAIN.
DEVONNE......THAT CAKE LOOKS VERY GOOD. I LIKE SPICE CAKE BUT WOULD NEVER ATTEMPT TO BAKE ONE MYSELF. THEY SELL THEM AT OUR BAKERY COUNTER IN OUR GROCERY STORE. I HOPE I REMEMBER TO ASK MY SON TO PICK UP ONE FOR ME.
KEEPING STRONG THOUGHTS FOR YOU IN THE COMING DAYS.
TRISH......GOOD LUCK ON THE CATARACT SURGERY. I DO NOT REMEMBER BEING COVERED BUT I DO REMEMBER IT ONLY TOOK ABOUT 30 SECONDS WHILE I WAS AWAKE AND I WAS FLAT ON MY BACK. A PROBLEM FOR ME SO THEY FOUND A PILLOW TO TUCK UNDER MY BACK TO EASE THE DISCOMFORT. I WAS AMAZED AT THE TIME. THE WAITNG AND PREP WERE WHAT TOOK A LONG TIME.
GOOD LUCK. YOU WILL BE SO HAPPY WITH YOUR RESULTS, I'M SURE.
MY SON IS IN SAN JUAN. LOVES IT. SENDS ME PIX OF HIS TRIPS NOW AND THEN.
I GOT SO LITTLE SLEEP THE LAST 2 NITES THAT I FELL ASLEEP BEFORE SUPPER LAST NITE. FELT GOOD BUT I WAS TOO TIRED AND TOO LATE TO MAKE MY PORK CHOP BAKE. WILL MAKE IT TONITE INSTEAD.
I THINK I WILL TAKE OUT SOME FROZEN PIZZA DOUGH FOR MAKINGS TOMORROW. I ENJOY HOMEMADE PIZZA.
THAT'S IT LADIES. NICE DAY IN THE 50S TODAY. NITES ARE IN THE 30S NOW. FALL IS TRULY IN THE AIR.
HUGS FOR ALL, QB S

So, you are 7 and taking a practice test for a standardized test. A suburb of DC if it matters. There is a picture of a bird. The question is, where do birds live? The choices are a picture of a birdbath, one of a bird house, and one of a tree. What is your answer? I’ll give the answer key answer in a bit, so you can think about it.

Good Morning, it is very windy outside this morning. I've got a fly buzzing around here, hate those!!! I don't have any plans for the day, just lazing around, I guess. The sky is very blue this morning, with lots of white clouds. I hope you all are having a very nice day, BJ.

Well the day is more than half over and I'm just getting started. Whatever that means? Am a bit disgusted with myself as I can't seem to catch up. Maybe I need a vacation!
Not answering that, Holly. I know there's a trick, right? I agree about being retired and it all being like endless weekends. If I was rich, I'd hire a maid/housekeeper and would just use my time to play, sew and watch TV. Shameful, I know...
Diane, I, too, so hope this is the last memorial for you for a long time. You've had more than your share. Hope you got the quiet day you were hoping for. Loved your wish for the end of hurricane season to come, quietly.
The pics continue to show the devastation and the mayhem they've caused and continue to cause. My cousins in SC were without power for 2 weeks and I talked to Judy yesterday and she, who is always stalwart and positive doesn't sound like herself and they had no damage, personally, But wherever they go, they are confronted with the extent of damage.
Best wishes for your surgery, Trish, which I imagine is done, now. Hope all went well.
Devonne, I don't know how long about Covid. Maybe look on-line for CDC guidelines?
Hugs and best wishes...
Need to go...

My Sisinlaw lives near Asheville and she still has no water. I’m not sure but I think they have power again?
I’ll take the 90* anytime over these 44* temps we’ve been having in the mornings.
MaryLou- with regards to retreats, I agree with you I always take multiple projects. You just never know. Lol. A lot can happen. I also take a backup machine which I leave in the car.

Greg went to Charlotte this weekend and there was a sign that said "no entrance to Tennessee from North Carolina." How sad is that.
Today was the first day that seemed like the first Fall day here. I love the cooler weather!
Carol, some people need to share their talent!
The spanish bar gives me heartburn. I should have known better, lol.
eta: Judy, I sent you a short message. That area is different, isn't it?

Just stopping in to say hello. Nothing exciting going on here.
My BIL is not doing well, doc says he most likely will be on kidney dialysis soon as they are not working. He seems so confused most of the time. His son is doing OK with his radiation, just had his last treatment last week but this week he has terrible thrush in his mouth and cannot eat. Nephew's wife was taking care of them all and now she is in the hospital bleeding from ovarian cyst. They just cannot catch a break. I feel so bad for them.
Devonne, spice cake gives me heartburn too. Anything spicy or too sweet gets me. I love the new chair!! I love my recliner.
It was rainy and cold today, just 58 most of the day. Hopefully will be warmer next week.
Judy, I feel for your friend and all the others who are suffering from the terrible storms recently. I need to remember that when I am whining about the cold.

DEVONNE ( CHERYL) sorry about the cake giving heartburn, I didn't get it with the ginger spice cake I had, so I will still give the recipe a try. It looks delish!!
SANDRA sorry about the book, that part of =19.5pxhistory is interesting but =19.5pxalso distressing (((hugs))) the Jennifer Ch one I am returning, I forgot how boring she was, don't know why it came to mind, but lesson learned. LOL good to hear Matt and Daphne are having a good time!
HOLLY as the question was for 7 yr olds I would assume BirdHouse was the answer, but like INDY I am thinking it's a trick question LOL so what is the answer.
INDY it's great that Andrew can drive home, then get trains etc, we use public transport here all the time, John goes to Uni by train and Dean on school buses ( unless Nan & Pop pick him up) our airport is more easily accessible by train than the pain of driving and parking, unless it's only a short trip. And getting to a concert in the city is always faster by train or bus.
MARYLOU & JANET totally agree on the projects for retreat, I always take too many, but better safe than sorry. I also try to take something that needs no thought LOL just mindless straight sewing!!
THANKS ALL for the good wishes, I have been back and got the eye patch off and started drops, I've set the alarm on my phone, only 2 drops every 4 hours during the day, and 5 mins apart and I have to tape a plastic 'patch/cover' over my eye at night for the rest of the week.
He's happy with the surgery, said the cataract was extremely thick so he was glad he did it now, I was quite awake and aware all through - it was about 15 mins for him to laser and do whatever, lots of rinsing, that was weird saw lots of colour for that, and I could sort of "hear" the laser in my ears as well, that wasn't nice, a bit like nails on a blackboard, just quiet ones, weird feeling - my BP was very high they kept checking on me didn't think I was stressed but must have been. I had about 10 lots of drops before hand, mostly anaesthetic and I was so hungry LOL. they gave me cheese and crackers with a cup of tea after.
My vision is odd, like through a sheer curtain on that eye, and normal on the other, he says it will change daily and settle in a couple weeks or so.And it feel itchy of course, and I have to NOT touch it, that is the hardest!!!
A bit lucky with the weather, the sky is very =19.5pxcloudy, has been raining a lot, and it's actually cold, going to turn the A/C on. So it's not glary at all for me which is good!!
