Good Morning to everyone!! Hope you are all feeling well. I don't seem to have much energy this morning. Took Frank his coffee, he doesn't seem to have much more energy than I do! It doesn't seem to have much movement outside, very still.
I really don't have much of anything to say, so will sign off, hoping you are all well. Sending love and best wishes, BJ.

Hello, friends! We are having beautiful sunny fall weather here in southern Illinois with cool nights and warm afternoons. Leaves are just barely beginning to turn.
Sandra, I got your sweet note today. Thank you for thinking about me. I am feeling back to normal now with no further chest pain.
One of the members of my “lunch bunch” (five teachers who had lunch together when we were all still teaching) is getting married soon. I had a quilt top with no recipient in mind so offered it to the others if they would pay for getting it quilted. Yesterday afternoon, the others came to my house for us to hand stitch the binding. Now we have all had a part in making the quilt as a wedding gift for Jamie.

Hi all!
JUST XHECKING IN.
MARY LOU, WHAT A SWEET THING FOR YOUR GROUP TO DO FOR YOUR FRIEND.
IT IS A NICE DAY HERE AS WELL TODAY.

THINKING OF EVERYONE. PRAYERS............

Marylou, that's so kind of you to have a quilt to offer to the new bride. I'm so glad to hear you are back to normal.
Trish, did they say what stage your brother's cancer is in? It's so important when it is caught early. Sending prayers for him. My neighbor had colon cancer surgery five years ago, and he works every day now.
Cheryl, go to the USPS site and sign up for Informed Delivery. Every morning you get notified via email what is being delivered that day, with an image of the front of the envelope/package.
Last week, after too much prolonged sitting going thru photos, I got up and had excruciating pain in my left knee. I learned a valuable lesson to get up and move more! It's the patellofemoral joint behind the knee cap. Cortisone shots today in both knees, so I'm good to go for next week's surgery. It's the most common knee pain doctors treat. 90% of people who have this pain can go back to their normal activities.
Sandra, I hope you win big tonight!
Prayers for the people in the path of Milton and continued prayers for all those affected by Helene.

Busy, busy, but coming here to offer extra thoughts and prayers for everyone in Florida. I have estranged family there, and I'm hoping they're all okay. No one has heard from them in years, so no idea what preparations they've made. Considering that the family has lived in that area since before the Revolutionary War, I doubt seriously they moved elsewhere.
It's beautiful here in the mornings, still hot in the afternoons, and not a drop of rain in sight. Drought starting. Good grief. Some parts of the country have more rain than they know what to do with, and some of us could use a bit.

Just back from the eye Dr, cataract surgery next Monday, they have got much worse, and I will be glad to have it done, he's an Assoc Prof and so lovely, I feel very confident. He's going to adjust for my astigmatism and do the right eye, so I will still need glasses, we talked about my options and he advised which way to go to fix the glare, give me the best sight he can and make things better, not focusing so much on fixing long or short vision.
CAROL hope our family is OK, and keeping a good thought for those in the path of the hurricane, scary stuff!!
SANDRA I am sorry, I fall under the "get too tied up with things" and I will be more vigilant about posting THANK YOU for all you do to keep us going here ((((hugs))) I love that now you have started sharing others have too, makes such a difference not only to variety to you all, but to being able to be friends too. Well done you for starting that trend for everyone
DEVONNE will be thinking of you as you prepare, it will be all good, you have organised yourself well and just need to rest and recover. My brother - well what can I say, my post yesterday has gone to that lost place. I posted that I had rung him, he's an absolute worry, he had symptoms for a couple ( or few) MONTHS but decided for himself that is was haemorrhoids, so it's a large tumour, they way surgeons etc have been getting him into testing quickly I suspect they feel it's either very aggressive OR he's had it a long time, he is shocking about seeing Doctors, believes things will work out, on the plus side he's optimistic about his condition and recovery.
HOLLY I wish I could feel easy about his diagnosis, but he makes his own choices, and I have to let go, and accept what it is. I have read a series about "kingdoms" in Scotland, the Recorder is sort of magical, and she oversees them all, was a bit odd, but I stuck with it, and finished, not too bad for free books on Kindle Unlimited LOL I wouldn't pay for them. If you're interested I'll look up the author I forget the name.
BJ I love that you take Frank his coffee every morning - he's a spoilt man, and I bet he loves it!
Megan & Gary have gone to Melbourne till Sunday night. His company awards is Sat night, so they make a good break of it. The boys are home, and enjoying the time alone, however they said YES to dinner supplied by Nan tonight, and they will come to the club with us on Friday night.
Megan sent me a pic of them at the wedding, I'll try to post it here, I am shorter than both Megan & Gary, so you can see how much shorter I would be LOL

There they are, John of course is the tallest, 6'6" or so now YIKES, I think he's stopped or slowing down, Dean is fast catching up!!

Prayers for all in the path of Milton!! I think my nephew is now re-thinking of moving to Florida!
Holly, thanks for the info on the needle threader. I will look on Youtube to see if I can find one that I understand. I have looked at my manual several times thru the years and just don't get it.
WOW, Trish, John is a tall one. My Gabriel is 15 and is 6 ft 2 inches. I am sure he will grow a couple more as he matures. His dad is 6'2" and my brothers were 6'3 and 6'5. Dean is just 5'10, so the height is from my side of the family.
Devonne, keeping you in my prayers my friend. How interesting about that USPS site. I have never heard of that.
It has been lovely weather here, sunny skies and cool temps. Supposed to get much cooler next week. I think I will empty out and bring in my flower pots. I don't put many directly in the ground anymore; just us various sized pots and I like it. The deer have wiped out my hostas, coleous and marigolds.
Trish, good luck with your cataract surgery. I, too, had (have) terrible astigmatism. My lenses were selected to correct that and to fix the distance vision. I paid quite a bit extra for them because the insurance would not cover for the astigmatism. I see great, can see at night and only need readers. I do unfortunately have dry eyes. I tried two different dry eye medications and got hives from both so I will stick to over the counter eye drops. It is most severe at night and I use a gel drop before bed.
Janet, I wish we would have had a structured pool cover. We just had the type that drapes over the water and sides of the pool. Dean used cement blocks to hold it down. He drained about a foot of water. We used a water delivery too in the spring when it was time to open because we had a well there too and did not want to run that water into the pool.

Cheryl, I saw a pic of Charlie Donlea on Facebook, he’s a man. Looks to be late 30’s early 40’s.
Trish, wow! He needs an extra long quilt!
My great nephew Connor got engaged. He’s 22, and they’ve been together since they were 15.

Hi all! 40* this morning. Late start this morning as DH was doing something or other with the tires on the car. My dear friends DH is in the hospital. He fell hiking yesterday and went to the ER. He’s the one who had the brain surgery during the summer. It was nothing short of a miracle that he lived and came out with no issues. They are doing brain scans this morning. Good thoughts for the two of them needed.
Off to the gym and then grocery shopping and then back to go to the eye dr with DH. I never go into his appts, I’m just the driver. 🙄 luckily it’s here in town as you all know by now how much I like to drive out of my comfort zone. 😵💫

Wow! All of a sudden a whole bunch of posts f on yesterday came in?? I’ll catch up later

Sandra, I know you watch Northwoods Law sometimes. It was on Facebook that one of the officers featured, Levi Fry, died last week at 30. So sad.
Ralph is at the eye doctor today also, but he drove himself. I was watching coverage of Milton. My brother just got the usual hurricane flooding.

Late one night a burglar broke into a house and while he was sneaking around he heard a voice say, "Jesús is watching you." He looked around and saw nothing. He kept on creeping and again heard, "Jesús is watching you." In a dark corner, he saw a cage with a parrot inside. The burglar asked the parrot, "Was it you who said Jesús is watching me" The parrot replied, "Yes." Relieved, the burglar asked, "What is your name?" The parrot said, "Clarence." The burglar said, "That's a stupid name for a parrot. What idiot named you Clarence?" The parrot answered, "The same idiot that named the rottweiler Jesús."
I LIKE THAT ONE.
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW OUR CHARMING JONI FAIRED IN FROSTPROOF FLA? I HOPE SHE IS OK.
ITS NICE TO SEE SO MANY POSTING. EVEN IF ITS A LINE OR TWO, WE KNOW YOU ARE WELL. THAT'S THE IMPORTANT THING.
HI PATTY. GOOD TO SEE YOU.
JANET.....NO MORE SWIMMING FOR YOU FOR AWHILE.
CHERYL......ONE YEAR MY SON DID NOT DRAIN OUT ENOUGH WATER AND THE DARN POOL SLICED OPEN. LUCKY THE KIDS HAD GROWN AND THEY RARELY USED IT SO GOT RID OF IT.
TRISH.....GREAT NEWS ON YOUR CATARACT SURGERY. YOUR DR SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD ONE TAKING ALL THE POINTS AND GETTING YOU THE BEST. I HOPE YOU HAVE BETTER NIGHT VISION AFTER IT ALL.
NICE PICTURE OF THE FAMILY. THE BOYS SURE HAVE GROWN.
SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR BROTHER AND YOUR WORRIES ABOUT HIM. LOTS OF FOLKS JUST TAKE THINGS AS THEY COME AND HOPE FOR THE BEST WITHOUT MEDICAL INTERVENTION. PRAYERS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY.
HOLLY......YES, LEVI FRY IN NEW HAMPSHIRE WAS SO YOUNG AND IT WAS BY HIS OWN HAND. YOU JUST NEVER KNOW WHAT LURKS IN THE MIND OF PEOPLE. A PERSON SO GIVING AND CONCERNED ABOUT OTHERS TO TAKE HIS OWN LIFE.
MY PLANS ARE SIMPLE. A BIT OF CLEANING, TRASH AND RECYCLING TO PUT OUT, A BIT OF COOKING, READING, SOLITAIRE AND WATCHING TV.
REAR WINDOW IS ON TODAY ON THE TCM CHANNEL. I LOVE THAT OLD MOVIE AND PLAN TO WATCH IT AGAIN BUT WILL SET IT TO RECORD SO I DON'T MISS ANY PARTS OF IT. THAT WAY I CAN SKIP QUICKLY PAST THE COMMERIALS.
NEARLY FORGOT TO TELL YOU I WON $1.50 at BINGO LAST NITE. TWO OF OUR GALS WERE NO-SHOWS. ONE AT A GRANDPARENTS' MEETING AND ONE NOT FEELING WELL.
SUN IS SHINING BRIGHT. TEMPS IN THE 50S TODAY AND 30S TONITE AGAIN. NICE AND CRISP SO HOPING THE FALL COLORS ARE BRIGHT AS WELL. ITS THE WINDY RAINFALL THAT DESTROYS THE LOVELY COLOR RANGE OF AUTUMN. TIME FOR OUR BRIGHTS IS NOW THRU THE 20TH.
HAVE A GOOD DAY. STAY SAFE. HUGS, QB S

Good Morning to everyone. It rained overnight, but dry this morning. And also very still, not a breath of air stirring. I'm not feeling very bright this morning. May go to Costco this morning with Rhonda, we'll see when she gets here. My thermometer says it is 50*, but the computer says 45*
Have no plans for the day, so we'll just see what's going on later. I'm going to sign off now as I'm not feeling very bright. Have a wonderful day , everyone, BJ.

Good afternoon!
Sandra, hurray for your bingo win! That makes playing more fun.
My day was off to a quicker start than usual today because it is cleaning day. The two ladies who clean for me usually arrive about 9:00. I got most of my clutter taken care of yesterday but needed to finish that this morning. While they were here, I ran some errands. Had to go three stores in my small town before I found the right size battery for the key fob for my car. Also had three other stops to make.

COOKING TIP........
REMEMBER OUR TALKS ABOUT BLACK PEPPER. WELL, FOUND OUT FROM LIDIA'S COOKING SHOW LAST NITE THE FACTS ABOUT BLACK PEPPER.
BLACK PEPPER HAS TANNINS IN IT. IF THEY ARE COOKED TOO LONG THEY GET BITTER.
SO ADD BLACK PEPPER AT THE END OF COOKING OR AT THE TABLE.

Yikes, I finally made it reading the final post! We got home LAST Thurs. evening after a 10-hr. drive (with stops). My excuse for the delay in posting is rather lame, but I have been sooo tired, am still tired but gradually resting up. Good Grief, this was only a five-day trip but it did me in. Except to report we were home, I haven't even called Howard's sister. And, I didn't take my laptop after all. I knew there would be no down time and I wouldn't likely get on it, anyway.
I'll be telling you a few tidbits here and there. But, for now, I'll just say we had a good time at, as Howard so aptly put it The Clark Insane Asylum! Linda and Henry readily agreed.
Since we have Leaf Filter coming for an estimate tomorrow, I need to work on the table and the dishes sitting around and finally get my suitcase emptied and off the love seat, too, before I give out again. Howard has put away all his stuff.
Mary Lou, glad your episodes didn't turn out to be emergencies and that you're set up for the necessary followups. Thinking of your coming surgery, Devonne. I replied briefly to your PM, yesterday. Am blown away by how tall John is, Trish. Andrew is 6' 2" and he towers over me. Shouldn't one be able to buy a hose at any time of the year, Carol? It's not exactly an esoteric item! I've said "aye" and "nay" in my mind to other posts.
And, Carol thank you so much for the lovely card about Fancy that was waiting in our mail. We both so appreciated it.
I'd better close this. It was supposed to be a short check in... Since I've done nothing much since arriving home, I HAVE to prepare for that appt. tomorrow.

Trish, will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for your upcoming cataract surgery. Loved the picture. Megan doesn't look like you. Does John play basketball?
Cheryl, maybe your nephew could consider north Florida? I have friends who bought a home there..they live in VA. They only wanted to live there 3 months out of the year. To become Florida residents, they found out you have to live there 6 months out of the year. Not what they wanted, but it's what they are doing.
I'm going to make a list later of things I need to get done here before my surgery next week. I know my family will be a big help, but they don't need to hang up my clothes, lol. Emily is good about helping in the kitchen.
I ordered a drone for Gary for Christmas. He's always wanted one. Walmart & Amazon have deal days going on. It was $219 and I got it for $45. Not a big expense, esp. if he doesn't use it or it doesn't come back home, lol.
Janet, prayers for your friend's DH. Hope the brain scans come back good.
Sandra, I liked this one!

Afternoon y'all!
Yes, I am still running around like a chicken with it's head cut off!
Luke has been given a tentative offer for a full time position at Vicksburg National Military Park in Mississippi! I will go up the last week of this month to help him move out of his current place, come home, repack and take him to Vicksburg. They are offering him temporary housing until he finds a place to live. His current boss recommends he stay 1-2 years before moving to any other position. So far he has listened to his bosses and it has paid off. He was also offered a position in the Everglades which he turned down. Now it's the incessant government paperwork for him.
Sara has about a year left on her PHD. Wow how time has flown!
Alex is loving his own place. Does come home for supper now and again! No shocker there! He has a few things left in his room that he needs to deal with so I can move on doing stuff!
Hubby is doing good. Just lots of stuff for us to get done, so we stay busy!
Mom is still thriving where she is. I feel like I was somehow guided there. She is doing PT and has not fired them!
My MIL, has B-cell lymphoma, still staging it! Going for a scan tomorrow, last test! Monday they will tell her the plan. Hopefully she will do the chemo and the radiation. She's giving stuff away, so that worries me. She gave me a double wedding ring quilt that her cousin made her. Beautiful quilt! Also returned all the bird ornaments I have bought her over the years! Keeps telling me she has more stuff to give me!
Fortunately hubby has a great brother, and SisIL. We are all taking turns making sure she gets to appointments, and grocery or whatever she needs/wants! This makes it less of a burden on each of us!
Me! Other than not stopping to breathe, I am staying busy. I pulled out my OBW! I am bound and determined to finally finish it. Already found out I have the block orientation wrong! Glad I found out now not later! Pulling that out lead to finding the book which necessitated cleaning some of my sewing room. Started yesterday, and found the book today! I will finish organizing the room. It is in shambles! Already looking better! I bought a project bag from Madame sews, and love it! Think I will get more. I have my National park stuff in the one I bought. Organizing the WIPS will be easier with these!
It is getting cooler here. We have had the windows open the last couple weeks, and yesterday and today have been slowly closing them and shutting off the ceiling fans. A/C has already been turned off. I guess heat is next!
Nothing else exciting!
Later my Friends!
