Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

Theresa, your kids are doing so well, a new place for Mom and Alex found a place to live! Everything is looking up. Going to the nursing home every day is hard to do. Listen to what Todd is saying. Take care of yourself too!

I made another batch of dog food today. I got 22 days worth out of this batch. It's cooling to go in the freezer. The big containers are per day for both of them and the small ones are single servings. I'll be measuring their dry food & wet food this time. Gracie is gaining too much weight.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

THERESA my heart aches for you, and Todd is right, you are wearing yourself out, make the visits every second day, yes she will act up, but she will get used to it easier than you think, I had to do that with Dad, he didn't mean too, he just wanted me there even day, the Dr told me it would be better of both of us to make it less often to visit, he did settle better. I know how hard it is, and you have been amazing, and hopefully this place will be really good for your darling mum, she doesn't mean it, but's it's taking a toll on you ((((hugs))))

Such great news about your kids, you have done an amazing job !!

SANDRA I just finished watching Midsomer no 3, and there is a book series you might like, I think it's Krista Davis, the Wagtail mysteries I think, about murders and a small town where the pets roam freely. I hope Matt got there safely and is enjoying it.

DEVONNE all that food probably won't last that long LOL I know I see them make a huge pot of food for the dogs, and it's usually a week, they bag into ziplock small and sandwich size. I have't got Apple TV, let me know if it's worth while.

JANET I get my eyes dilated, but they put some other drops in to adjust them, mostly I fare pretty well - Warwick not so much,  I have to drive to and from and his appointments take about 2 hours. At least we've now changed practices, and they seem much better. I don't think sunglasses would help him see at all.

HOLLY do you have dilation, are you OK with it, it seems to affect people differently , I know it's different for me and the MR. LOL glad to hear the =19.5pxtemps=19.5px are better for you!

We sampled the 'good' ice cream tonight, it's very good, but not as healthy as the others, so a little treat for him, he actually enjoyed the coconut one, go figure, I will add less sugar the next batch though. I want to try the sorbet again but need juice, so might get it tomorrow.

I had a Drs appointment today, he gave me a script for sleeping tabs - only 10 tablets, the smallest amount he could -  I don't take them generally, but he thought it might be handy to have a few on hand when we do the long flights, so maybe I will get it filled and take one (1/2 actually )  our first night in London, I get overtired then can't sleep, this might help. I won't take them on the flight, he said I could but I don't think it's a good idea, I like to be able to wriggle around and worry about DVT. It is really long flight and hard to rest, but I want to be able to get up and down when I need to, and there has been a few flights lately with severe turbulence, better to be alert. I keep my belt on all the time (except for bathroom visits).

I tried to get moving on my temperature quilt, I have been doing so much ripping, you really have to concentrate when doing a lot. When I get caught up I am doing one each day, can't get them mixed up then LOL.  I've now finished March, So will start April tomorrow, I want to be caught up before we go away, not long now, it's getting scary, can't believe it!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

The dilation itself is not the real issue for me, but having to have DH take me is. It’s a short ride but you’d think I asked him to take me to Mars. Oh well, it’s only once a year.
Lunch today with a friend who just retired! She’s a quilter. I met her a few years ago at a quilt retreat. Last year, she moved into this area, so I get to see her more than once a year. She’s very talented.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

Trish, I get the dilation, and wear sunglasses to come home, not a problem, just annoying. I’m due for an exam, have to call. I just called for a dentist appointment, they freak me out. I know I have a cavity.

Tonight will be fireworks for the 4th. They do a show at Trump International Golf Course at Philadelphia, which is in Pine Hill. It’s thru the woods from us. I can lay on my couch and watch the display.

I’m in a cooking slump, nothing I feel like making, or eating. I did make pasta salad last night, so we have that, potato salad, and green salad.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

I GUESS I WAS A LUCKY ONE AFTER DILATION.  I WOULD SIT IN MYN CAR FOR A HALF HOUR AND THEN DRIVE HOME.  NEVER A PROBLEM FOR ME.  I ONLY WAITED BECAUSE THE DR TOLD ME I SHOULD.

TRISH......YES, I AGREE, THE KRISTA DAVIS SERIES IS A GOOD ONE FOR ME.  I HAVE READ SEVERAL OF HERS.  ONE ONLY RECENTLY.
AS FOR POSTING, I ALWAYS 'SUBMIT' AFTER A COUPLE OF LINES.  ITS ALSO WHEN I INCREASE THE SIZE OF MY TYPE AND MAKE IT BOLD PRINT.

DEVONNE.....WOW YOU SURE ARE A GOOD MOTHER TO YOUR PUPS.  IMAGINE COOKING SPECIAL FOR THEM SO OFTEN.  YOU MUST HAVE A LARGE FREEZER.

THERESA.......I AM SO HAPPY TO HEAR MOM IS SETTLED IN HER NEW PLACE.  I HOPE THIS ONE WORKS OUT FOR BOTH OF YOU.
AND YES, I AGREE WITH THE OTHERS, YOU NEED TO TAKE CARE OF NUMBER ONE, YOU.  VISIT LESS OFTEN.  SHE WILL GET USED TO IT AND WHAT CAN SHE DO ABOUT IT, BEAT YOU?  SO THINK ABOUT YOURSELF NOW AND THEN.
GOOD NEWS ON THE BOYS AS WELL.  THINGS ARE LOOKING UP FOR YOU AT LAST I THINK.  HUGS GIRL.

I MADE THE RICE-A-RONI CHICKEN CASSY LAST NITE.  THIS TIME I BAKED IT AT THE RIGHT TEMP AND IT CAME OUT REALLY NICE.  I ENJOYED IT.  I MADE ONLY A SMALL CASSY THIS TIME, IN A 9 BY 9 BAKING PAN.  ITS A GOOD SIZE FOR ME.  I CAN SHARE WITH ANOTHER PERSON BUT STILL HAVE ENOUGH FOR LEFTOVERS.

ANOTHER LOVELY DAY HERE IN MAINE.  TEMPS ARE LIVABLE AND THANKFULLY NOT IN THE 90S LIKE SO MANY OF YOU.  I HAVE SOME GOOD BOOKS READY TO READ AND A COMFY SOFA ON WHICH TO DO IT.
I HAVE TO REPORT THAT I ENJOYED A FEW OF THE SHARK DOCS I'VE WATCHED SO FAR....BABY SHARKS, SHARK QUEENS, AND BABY SHARK IN THE CITY.  I LEARNED SO MUCH I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE DIFFERENT VARIETIES.  INTERESTING TO ME.
I AM ALWAYS WATCHING DOCUMENTARIES.  AT MY AGE YOU PROBABLY FIGURE WHY BOTHER SINCE IT WON'T MAKE MY LIFE ANY DIFFERENT, BUT I FIND SUCH KNOWLEDGE FASCINATING. AND SOMETIMES IT HELPS IN ANSWERING TRIVIA QUESTIONS CORRECTLY.

THAT'S IT FROM ME FRIENDS.  NOTHING EXCITING HERE ON THE LIST.  USUAL CLEANING BITS AND EATING BITS AND THE ENJOYABLE BITS OF TV, SOLITAIRE, READING, AND CROSSWORD PUZZLES.  TONITE IS BINGO NITE BUT I AM NOT CALLING.  I HOPE WHOEVER DOES SO IS LOUD ENOUGH FOR ME TO HEAR CLEARLY. IT WILL BE NICE TO JUST SIT AND MARK MY SQUARES.  NO MORE ACHY NECK AND SHOULDER.

TIL TOMORROW LADIES.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

Good Morning, Tracy just got up so I need to visit with her.  Hope you all have a wonderful day, it is 60* here right now at 8:45, but I'm sure it will warm up later on.

Have a good day everyone, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

Nothing happening here today. Still watching Defending Jacob on Apple TV. It's $10 a month after my free 3 month trial ends. I'll let you know, Trish, if I renew it.

Sandra, I have the standard size french door freezer. There's two big sections and a pull out tray above these sections. Fills up pretty fast.

Theresa, maybe try Monday, Wednesday and Friday and keep the weekends free for you & family? Eventually get it down to only two days a week if you see she is getting good care. Melena doesn't go every day because Shelby never remembers her being there. During school months, she picks her grandkids up every day and it's too much to go every single day. She has health issues too.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

I am able to drive after dilation if I use the dark sunglasses.  With the macula surgery and my two cataract surgeries I was dilated a lot during the year long process.  Now just once a year to check on the other macula.

I have been on metFormin for pre-diabetes.  It has not changed my A1c at all and I think it is hurting my kidneys.  Last labs showed protein in kidneys and I never had that before.  I would like to drop this medication and will bring it up this month during my 3 month sugar level check.  It has not changed in almost 2 years.  Doc said if I go off the drug I will most likely be type 2 diabetic.  Not sure of that myself since.

Dean and I are going to Columbus to spend tomorrow with Anthony and his family.  They got tickets to see country singer Martina McBride, so that should be fun.  I am cutting  up fruit to take and making a potato salad.  YIKES, fruit is expensive.  $5.99 for a honeydew melon and $5.99 for cut up pineapple.  Strawberries and blueberries were reasonable.

Wishing you all a happy July 4th.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

It's been a while...not by design, just things... The  Monday before this one, I woke up sick with what I'll call gastro-intestinal illness and was very sick for 3 days.  I hadn't been away from the house in over ten days and Howard never got it, so I don't think it was a virus I picked up.   The kind of thing where you think you're going to die, and wish you would!  LOL  Am still watching what and when I eat.  THAT and all the other things in life have just kept me away from the computer all this time.  Am caught up reading and with all of you and that feels good.

Days ago, you discussed paper plates and cups.  I was a bit surprised to see that many of you use them as regularly as we do.  I always have a stack, upside down, to keep them dust-free, handy in the kitchen, and frankly, use them for everything.  And with Howard's blessing...remember, he has an opinion about everything!
Even, with my small group, we all use them each time and there are some very pretty ones available, but I've also learned that you can use the plainer (cheaper) plates and dress them up with some snazzy napkins.   I buy cups for that, but we just use china cups/mug and glasses for our daily use.

Theresa, glad the "re"-move is over.  I have to agree with the others and especially with this change of location and a new startup, so to speak, could come a change in the frequency of your visits. My Mom was very good but I do know the feelings they can bring up in you with just a word or two.  It's like a knife going thru you but they are a bit like children and will use that leverage to get their own way.  It's just human nature.  You've been remarkable through all this and I so admire your love and devotion.

I got to see my son on Sunday.  He, ML, Bill and I attended a celebration of life for a 2nd cousin of theirs who was the best man in my first wedding.   Two of our pictures (that included him) were in the video that was shown.  It was quick and I was warned or I might have missed them.  Lots of old-timers, friends and family were there.

ML has invited us for lunch, tomorrow so we have some time with Andrew while he's home.  He's coming, today.
She's having panini  sandwiches, macaroni salad, p. chips, and making a special French strawberry cake she's been wanting to try.  I will take deviled eggs, and baked beans.  Then on Saturday, we're all invited to Gabriel Home's picnic for anybody whose family member was a resident there.   They did this two years ago and we had a nice time.  You can or don't have to bring anything.  They provide gobs of food, including a variety of Filipino dishes that are delicious.  The atmosphere is as it was when Mom was there--friendly, welcoming, loving and  we wouldn't miss it.  Glad I'm mostly back to normal and can attend these gatherings.

Going to wind this up.  So happy for all the good medical reports, Lynn, Aaron, Chloe, Pete.  I hope I didn't miss anyone?  Still remembering J, too.  Hugs, and love,

Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

INDY I am so so sorry, that must have been awful, I am happy you are feeling better.  Panini sounds wonderful, I love those - it's so nice you still go to Gabriels, and YES you said it so well to THERESA.

I had thought you had read those books SANDRA but wasn't sure, I am reading a silly series about vampires and knitting, it's crime, but more like those little stories you can read in a night, not much substance, but it will fill a few hours. No blood and gore, someone gets murdered but no gory details LOL

BJ hope you enjoy the company, have you any plans to go anywhere.

Nothing happening here, I spent the day looking for things LOL first my camera, then the 75 British pounds my sis gave me, made some pastries to send to the boys and Gary, he has come down with 'flu now LOL Megan says it's "man 'flu " - poor guy he probably feels awful.

So annoyed with the specialist Chloe went to , he's decided she has Syncope, a fainting hereditary thing, no reason given for the heart stopping so many times, says she'll probably need a pacemaker in 10 yrs, but no risk now - ???? I think another opinion is needed UNLESS Miss Chloe has not told the whole story to her mother.
I guess I'll wait to see Chloe, get more out of her than her mum can LOL

It's late, I'm ready for bed, the Mr is asleep on the sofa, now he won't sleep till later, then be cross tomorrow, can't win!

See you tomorrow.

Trish, Chloe needs to see an electrophysiology doc, a cardiologist specializing in arrhythmias.

Happy Treason Day, Peasants, as the Queen would say. LOL. I had the AC off and the windows open last night, as it was in the 60’s. I just closed them again, as it’s already 77 and going to be 90.

New xs pic up on the blog, 92%!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

FOR ME ITS A QUIET DAY.  THE DAY OF CELEBRATIONS AND BAR-B-QS ARE PAST.  I DON'T MIND THOUGH.  AND ALSO THE FIREWORKS.  THOSE ARE FROM ANOTHER PART OF MY LIFE.  ONE I ENJOYED WITH MY FAMILY BUT NOW I'M MORE INTO SLOW LIFE.
I HAVE SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS ON MY MENU TODAY.  THAT WILL FILL MY TUMMY JUST FINE.  AND THERE'S BOOKS TO READ AND MOVIES TO WATCH SO I AM A HAPPY CAMPER.
ITS A BEAUTFUL DAY HERE IN MAINE FOR THE HOLIDAY.  I EXPECT FIREWORKS WILL BE IN ABUNDANCE TONITE.
THAT'S IT FROM ME FRIENDS.  HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY.  HUGS, QB S
PS   I DIDN'T HAVE TO 'CALL' LAST NITE AT BINGO AND THAT WAS SUCH A RELIEF.  NO ACHY NECK AND SHOULDER AT THE END OF IT.  THOUGH POOR ME, I LOST $5.50 LAST NITE.  BUT THE COMRADERIE AND CHATS WERE GREAT.  HUGS AGAIN.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

What if Romeo and Juliet didn’t die, but married and lived in Verona and had 7 kids. That’s the premise of A Daughter of Fair Verona, a new book by Christina Dodd. The story is first person, told by their oldest daughter, and old spinster at age of 20. Rosie is unhappily betrothed to an older man who has buried and maybe murdered 3 wives. Then she finds him stabbed to death at her betrothal party. That’s all in the first 50 pages, which is where I am now. So far I like the book a lot.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

Holly, when I taught Romeo and Juliet, I had an assignment that required the kids to take two characters from the play and imagine a new scenario for them.  Example:  They survived, lived in Mantua until the prince brought them back to Verona as a peace pact between the families.  They were supposed to write a dialogue (one of those totally useful--LOL--objectives).  I asked them to think of the exchange between Juliet and her parents upon her return.  Or Romeo's with his parents.  Or either of them with their new in-laws.  One day, I had a group arguing over some trivial point.  I leaned in and said, "What if she's pregnant?"  MRS. ANDERSON!  "Uh, they're married, remember?"  So much fun.

Glad to hear that so many are on the mend, but sorry that you had to go through those things.  Yuck.

Theresa, glad that the family issues are moving in the right direction.

Nothing new here other than it's hot and we're on storm watch again.  We're supposed to get a new update from the hurricane hunters in a little while.  I can't imagine willingly getting into an airplane and flying INTO a hurricane, but these people do it many times.

If anyone would like to come for a visit, I need help.  I've lost a pair of fabric scissors.  I do have a backup pair.  I've also lost a head.  Not mine, well, maybe not.  I had two doll heads in a bag.  Now only one is there.  Sigh...............

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

I went over Greg's house today and we went and looked at cars, just for a fit for me, not buying now. I could get in/out of the Honda CRV easily and I liked the interior. It was the Touring model. The Subaru Outback and Forester were good fits as well. Don't know anything about Subaru. We ate at Chicken Salad Chick. I found out we have one in Carrollton, 15 minutes away, and I didn't even know it. We're also getting a Whataburger in Carrollton.

Judy, sorry you have been so sick. I'm glad you got to see your son. Also got to see Andrew too and spend some time with him.

Cheryl, I didn't know Martina McBride was still touring. I've always liked her.

Sorry about your loss in bingo, Sandra, but glad you enjoyed yourself.

I have my first crooked neck yellow squash...small, but it's there, lol.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

We  spent a lovely 2 1/2 hours with ML, Bill & Andrew.  Got to hear about all his possible future.  He's moving ahead with his plans to change employers and locations.  I couldn't begin to explain what and how that's happening, even with his detailed explanation.    As planned, I took deviled eggs, baked beans and chips.  She had some fabulous bread that's flown in daily to her grocery from a bakery in Canada.  They offered to take me home if I wanted to stay past when Howard went home, but I decided to come on with him.  That way, they could do what they wanted.  As it turned out, I read about 3 pages of the new book she gave me and then napped for 1 1/2 hours in my recliner.

Carol, you wouldn't want me!  I can't find a thing that a lose here and I lose plenty.  Looking for my two back braces right now.  Lost them in the clean up for the last  time we were hosts and still they haven't turned up.
Those and many other 'misplaces'...Argh!

QB, hope your luck turns around, again, but your attitude is good--the cameraderie and chat is worth it all.
All our holidays are whittled down to the minimum, now, so this impromptu invitation from ML was nice, but not expected.  No biggies, anymore.  Bill's family has abandoned all holidays, DIL Pam always works and Danny didn't reply to ML's invite to him.  Like you, I'm happy for the memories of other times.  But,  In reality, they were a lot of work and Howard always acted up and spoiled something, so I'm rather philosophical about it all and really not sad. And no supper to get tonight!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

ITS BEEN AN AMAZING WEEK OF GOOD WEATHER EXCEPT FOR A BIT OF RAIN SHOWER NOW AND THEN.  JUST LOVELY.

JUDY.....SORRY FOR THE GASTRO-INTEST PROBLEM.  IT SEEMS THAT FOR SUCH AN INSIGNIFICANT PROBLEM IT CAN MAKE US SO MIGHTY MISERABLE.  I KNOW HOW YOU MUST HAVE FELT.  I AM GLAD ITS PAST YOU NOW.

TRISH.......I THINK CHOLOE NEEDS A BETTER DR OR ELSE SHE IS JUST NOT TELLING THE WHOLE STORY.  SHE MAY NOT WANT TO WORRY HER FOLKS TOO MUCH.

DEVONNE......IN FUTURE YOU CAN CHECK OUT THOSE CARS AGAIN WHEN YOU ARE IN THE MARKET TO UPGRADE.
I LOVE SEEING YOUR SQUASH GROWING.  LUCKY YOU WITH SOME FRESH GARDEN VEGS.
THOSE WITH GARDENS HERE ARE DOING WELL.  THINGS ARE GROWING LIKE CRAZY.

CAROL......NICE TO SEE YOU BACK.  YOU ARE ALWAYS SO BUSY.

I FOUND A NEW CASSEROLE ON UTUBE I WANT TO TRY.  ITS BAKED BEAN AND GROUND BEEF CASSY.  TWO THINGS I LIKE.  I WILL BE TRYING IT TODAY.  IT SEEMS I AM THE 'CASSEROLE QUEEN' AROUND HERE.  I LOVE MAKING THEM.  A WHOLE MEAL IN ONE PAN AND SO EASY TO PREPARE USUALLY.  MY CUP OF TEA.
LIFE HERE CONTINUES IN DULLSVILLE.  READING, PLAYING SOLITAIRE, WATCHING TV, AND SNACKING NOW AND THEN.  SOUNDS GOOD TO ME.
HAVE A GOOD DAY FRIENDS.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 30 ~ SAT JULY 6

Devonne, I have a Subaru Forester, and I love it.  It's easy in and out, and it has a very high safety rating.

Beryl is getting closer.  On Tuesday the cone of uncertainty was nowhere near us.  By Wednesday it was 100 miles away.  Today we're in it.  Geez.  It is going to be a long summer if this keeps up.
