Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25 ~ SAT MARCH 2

Sunny and 60 today! I finished zig zag #3, Heather picked out a springy charm pack and picked flip flop fabric for the back. I have to go online and find a coffee themed charm pack to make one for Steph and Dan.

I’m making chicken enchiladas for dinner, one of our favorites, and they nuke so well when leftover. I have to decide, or assign Ralph to decide, what veggie to make with it.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25 ~ SAT MARCH 2

Holly, I went onto your blog and looked at your zigzag tabletops.  Oh, they are so bright and cheerful!  The last one had such pretty pastels.

It is near 70 degrees today.  It did rain some this morning and now the weather people are saying perhaps some strong storms or a tornado coming this evening.

I am still scrap busting and made another little quilt for Project Linus.  I used a Bonnie Hunter pattern and it did turn out cute.  I need to look through some of my many quilt books and find one that is not a scrap pattern.  Perhaps I will do that tonight.

Dean got a piece of metal in his eye from working on his car.  We took him to our eye doctor and he removed it easily and then asked Dean if he had done this often.  Yep.  A car mechanic/welder gets lots of debris in the eyes even when wearing safety glasses.  The sliver of metal this time went right under the bottom  of the glasses.  Anyway, all is well and he is on eye drops for the next seven days.

I took some chicken breasts out of the freezer and will make something with them for supper.  Not sure what just yet but we have salad fixings so that will be the side.

Better run as I have to pick up kids after school today.

Take care.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25 ~ SAT MARCH 2

Afternoon y'all!

I will not buy from or go to a craft store/quilt shop on the 30th and 31st of this month!

I need to go on to Amazon and see what kind of slide storage containers there are.  The carousels are way to big to store.  At mom's house they took up a whole closet shelf.  Of course some were empty!

I finished the China/India and China one yesterday.  The pictures were cool.  2 pictures of battleships, Luke identified one and has a picture of the other on Reddit to see if someone can identify it.  The one we identified was used to take refugees to Thailand.  Dad could have been involved in that.  I have no idea if he was.  I have the second carousel ready to go.  It is labeled 1st trip to Yellowstone and second trip to Yellowstone.  These are all in color, so far.  It has been fun doing this, the boys are really interested in the pictures.  May have to make them copies too!

Today has been a good day, despite it being so dreary outside.  Got an email from Macy's-flash sale on coats.  Luke wants a puffer coat for Maine.  It will be cooler than he is used to.  He will not be able to wear the uniform coat outside of work.  So we looked at the sale, he found a coat, hubby ordered it and used our $10 Macy reward, an expensive coat cost us $23!  Not a bad deal!

Went to visit mom.  She slept through the whole visit.  I got her laundry, set her up a drink and snacks and left.  No reason to sit there and watch her sleep.

Left mom's and got a call from the lake lot realtor.  They are going to have to put in an engineered septic system.  Will cost them 35K!  Ouch!  They asked if I could drop the price by only 5K, I said sold.  They also asked if they could move up closing, yes again!  I'm waiting to hear, where and when!

Hotdogs for supper, this mornings excitement wore me out!  Plus it is warm here, 71*.  Yesterday was 75*, tomorrow is predicted to be 75* with afternoon thunderstorms, fun!

I have mom's laundry going, 2 loads, one in the dryer the other in the washer!  Once the washer is done I will pull out the hang-ups!  I do such exciting things!

Need to run, forgot I had pecans on the floor of the porch, to dry, need to pick them up before it really rains.  Been spitting at us all day!  The pecans were in a 5 gallon bucket at the house and got rained on.  Hubby did not realize there was water in the bucket.  I noticed it and put the bucket on towels on it's side and propped the bottom up so the water would drain out!  This weekend we pulled the hulls off the pecans and found the ones in this bucket were still wet.  So we poured them on the floor of the porch to dry.  They are close to the screen so a good rain would get them wet again.  We have about 5 5 gallon buckets of pecans to shell.  Plus half a reusable grocery bag. Was 7 until we de-hulled a few buckets!  We filled one bucket with the hulls and have another started!  Using the hulls as ground cover in the backyard!

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25 ~ SAT MARCH 2

I got my laundry done today, changed sheets, washed mattress topper and mattress pad. This mattress topper has made my memory foam mattress (the expensive one!) bearable. It's 3" thick and takes awhile to dry. I put it over my leather sofa to dry all day, then in the dryer to finish, if needed.

Cheryl, we only schedule cruises when Carter is on school break. Greg won a "free" cruise playing in the casino. He and Carter are going on the Harmony of the Seas in June. It's only for two people, but they need a cruise without Nana and that's way too soon for me. They are flying to Galveston. He's already booked the cruise and their flights.

Sandra, no rest/peace for G&E. They had the kids here because the parents worked too late. Also, Hannah's horse, Bacardi, had a terrible accident. Her foot got caught in the fence and ripped the skin & flesh off. The bone is exposed. The neighbors came over and helped her get the horse in the trailer. She will need surgery and is still at the vet. So far it's at $4,000 and going up. I'm proud of H for making sure her horse is getting the best care. As for Molly and Gracie, Gracie sat with Gary every night and laid her head on his leg. She's never done that with me except when it thunders, lol!

I went to visit Gary this evening, as I haven't been there in quite a long time. Hannah wants to put her horse in the shop when she gets to come home. Gary didn't want to do this, as he has a living area and a 75" tv in there, but he got overruled, lol. It gave him some space to get away from the RV. She is getting stalls built. This is a 2,400 square foot shop. Today she bought a huge storage building to put furniture in (that is in the shop) and a lot of other things. There is a barn on the property (not their property, but they have the right to use it), but it's a long story why H doesn't want to use it.

Gary got a decision from SS on 2/21, but his case was pulled for quality review (this is randomly done). Could be another 4 weeks or even longer before he knows the answer.

Tomorrow I am scheduled for my mammogram. I'm not sure if I will need to have these every 6 months, but I will find out tomorrow.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25 ~ SAT MARCH 2

Pretty warm today, and going to be a scorcher tomorrow.

I pick Dean up from school, but he finishes early and wants to go to the mall with friends, so I guess I'll pick him up there.

HOLLY you are churning out the runners, good work!! They are a great pattern!

DEVONNE I thought the kids might end up there too - good luck with the mammogram tomorrow. Hope Gary gets his SS.

BJ great work on the quilt top, I saw the pic on Facebook, might see if I can copy it for here ((((hugs)))

SANDRA hope you have got over the dizzy, it comes and goes, lucky you can rest when you can, don't go crazy cleaning cupboards, they can wait!!

THERESA fingers crossed that you will have that property off your hands by the weekend! Such a relief.  It would be so interesting seeing all those photographs. Maybe make a book out of some of them!

Still no word on Gary's dad, they won't talk to Megan, and Gary will be just about home now from his Melbourne few days. His flight was due in by around 6pm

Made the fruit pudding/cake today for Sara's husband, he loves it. Said he has a piece every afternoon when it's there, keeps him going till dinner LOL Looks like I have a job for life. Some of the girls at training also want the recipe. They had it at our Xmas function.

Also made a couple batches of Anzac biscuits (cookies) they are being enjoyed here
The Mr has to have fasting bloodwork in the morning, so he might have a couple before bed tonight, just to keep him  going. He eats the minute he gets up usually, don't know how he can, I need some time to wake up properly. Plus if I go to training I don't eat till I get back at 10.30am.

Nothing much happening here. We will be melting tomorrow at training - it will be high 80s when we get to the park. She'll bring extra spray bottles of water to cool us off.

(((hugs))) and prayers

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25 ~ SAT MARCH 2

It sounds like everyone is busy and getting lots done - cooking, cruising, exercising, etc. I enjoy reading about all of it.

We had a wonderful “Christmas”. The kids were so much fun to watch and interact with. The 4 year old woke up her mom at daybreak saying “ The sun is up and so am I!”  She was ready to open gifts but patiently waited until after breakfast.  18 month old Winnifred walked around all day with raised hand saying “I, I” (meaning high five).  So cute!    We had quite a buffet for breakfast. Abigail brought bagels and cream cheese from Panera. Jessica fixed a lovely fruit platter and made chocolate scones. Melanie scrambled eggs and fixed toast. We FaceTimed with Nathanael in Savannah while opening gifts. I had mailed his so he could open when the rest of us did.  Lunch was breakfast leftovers with the addition of a couple salads. We had takeout from local restaurant for supper. My drive both ways was easy, traffic was light and weather was good. I’m already wondering when I can go again, maybe in May when a couple of people have birthdays.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25 ~ SAT MARCH 2

RAINY AND WINDY HERE TODAY.  WE ARE UNDER A WIND ADVISORY WITH 40 PLUS MILES PER HOUR TIL TOMORROW.  THAT MAY MEAN SOME POWER OUTAGES WHEN BRANCHES FLY OFF THOSE TREES.
ITS BINGO NITE FOR ME TONITE.  TWO OF THE GALS TOLD ME THEY MISSED MY CALLING.  WANT ME BACK POST HASTE.  I WILL BE THERE TONITE.

DEVONNE......SOUNDS LIKE THE HOUSE-SITTING DID NOT WORK OUT AS PLANNED, BUT I'M SURE G AND E ENJOYED HAVING THE HOUSE TO THEMSELVES PART OF THE DAY.
HOW GREAT IS THAT WITH GRACIE LAYING HER HEAD ON GARY.  THEY SENSE WHEN THEY ARE NEEDED.  SHE KNOWS HE HAS HEALTH ISSUES.
I HOPE HE GETS HIS SOC. SEC. CHECKS SOON.  DO THEY STILL SEND A PILE OF THEM WHEN THEY GIVE THE FINAL OK?  IF SO, GARY WILL BE IN THE GREEN.  THEY USED TO SEND MONTHLY CHECKS FOR ALL THOSE IN BETWEEN WHEN FIRST FILED FOR DISABILITY UNTIL THEY APPROVE IT.  HE'S BEEN WAITING A LONG TIME ALREADY.
SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT HANNAH'S HORSE'S INJURY.  ITS REALLY A BAD ONE.  AND COSTLY.  HOPE IT ALL WORKS OUT WELL IN THE END.  MAYBE SHE EXPECTS GARY TO PAY FOR THE MEDICAL BILLS IF HE GETS HIS BACKPAY FROM SOC. SEC.

THERESA......HOORAY FOR YOU FINALLY SELLING THE LAKE PROPERTY (I HOPE) SO YOU CAN GET ON WITH YOUR NORMAL LIFE.  YOU WON'T KNOW HOW TO HANDLE ALL THAT TIME ON YOUR HANDS.

TRISH......ITS ALWAYS GREAT WHEN YOU HAVE A FOOD THAT THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS JUST ADORE.  IT MEANS MORE COOKING FOR YOU, BUT ITS A GOOD FEELING TO DO IT.

NOTHING EXCITING HAPPENING FOR ME.  I DID A COUPLE OF LAPS AROUND THE HALLWAY ALREADY.  I DO MORE THRU THE DAY.  I WANT TO KEEP MY LEGS WORKING.
ATE MY YOGURT FOR BREAKFAST AND YOU KNOW HOW I DISLIKE THAT STUFF.
I ASKED THE VISITING LIBRARIAN TO SEE IF SHE COULD FIND SOME CAROLINE GRAHAM BOOKS FOR ME TO READ, EVEN IF NOT LARGE PRINT.  SHE IS THE AUTHOR OF THE MIDSOMER MURDER SERIES.  I HAVE SEEN THE SERIES TIME AND TIME AGAIN, BUT NEVER READ ANY OF THE BOOKS.  IT WILL BE INTERESTING, I'M SURE.
I DECIDED TO TOSS OUT THE BATH MAT.  I HAVE A NON-SLIP TUB BUT ALWAYS KEPT A BATH MAT IN IT.  I AM TIRED OF HAVING TO CLEAN THAT UP AND THE TUB ALL THE TIME.  IT TRAPS DIRT.  WHERE IT COMES FROM IS A MYSTERY.  I DO NOT GET OUT IN THE DIRT AND MUD, YET DIRT ACCUMULATES.  I HAVE DECIDED IT MUST BE FROM MY OLD SKIN CONTINUOUSLY FLAKING OFF MY BODY.  WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE. ONE LESS CHORE FOR THIS OLD LADY TO HANDLE THRU THE DAYS.

THAT'S IT LADIES.  STAY SAFE.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25 ~ SAT MARCH 2

Sandra, we get the wind advisory tonight, so it must be moving south.

I didn’t take a nap yesterday, and at 9 last night I couldn’t keep my eyes open, so went to bed. Work up so hungry this morning! We went to the diner for breakfast, so good! We brought a lot home. Then to the library to swap out books, now home. It’s a drizzley day. Got gas when we were out, $2.99 at the corner, yay!

Mary Lou, sounds like a great visit with your family! So hard when they live far away.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25 ~ SAT MARCH 2

Good Morning to everyone!!  It is so windy here today, and 48*, so not too cold.  Frank is having physical therapy twice this week, so that's a good thing.  He has a difficult time walking, so any therapy is good.

I really don't have a thing to say this morning, so will just say goodbye and have a wonderful day, Love, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25 ~ SAT MARCH 2

We are under a wind advisory. I can hear things moving around on the patio.

Molly was more thrilled than Gracie to see me. Pictures below. I have so many good cruise pictures, I've decided to share them by areas. Maybe I can share some tonight.

Sandra, it's the other way around. H has been paying all of the bills since E lost her job at Home Depot. There is SS backpay if you are approved, but he won't get it back to 2021. They have changed it. They enjoyed being in a house for a week instead of an RV. She cooked a lot while here, but my house was spotless, the way I left it. There's no prep room to cook in an RV, so she enjoyed having a better stove and able to move around in a bigger kitchen.

I told Gary to put his dirty laundry in my backseat and I would do it for him. It's all finished! There is a big project going on at his place that I will share later.

I am off to get a shower & head to my appointment.

You can see in the above pictures how red and swollen her paws are. I cut the hair back shorter so I could see & I was disappointed. She will be going back to the vet.

Before grooming...I can't believe I let her get this bad. She still needs some touchup. I didn't cut them too short, as I didn't know how cold it would be.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25 ~ SAT MARCH 2

We have WINTER again.  It snowed overnight but only about an inch.  Will be warming up tomorrow as drastically as it cooled off overnight--30 degrees.  Brrrr

Glad we got my cardio appt. and some errands done yesterday in the springlike weather.  Had a good appt.  Doctor said, after the echo cardiogram and an EKG right before he came in, that there was nothing major wrong.  I have a bit if stenosis with one valve but he said that is a slow-moving condition so nothing to do for it.  My ejection fraction was 65.  Needs to be over 50.  So that is what I'm most thankful for, today.
Wish my lower back and hips were as good.  We were in the doc's office for 2 1/2 hours.  Extra busy day.

We had lunch at the China House afterwards--our favorite.  Then, got some groceries and the ingredients I need to make dessert for our small group on Friday.  Blueberry cheesecake, an old recipe I've been making for "eons".

Theresa, what a find you have.  And, what a wonderful legacy for your kids.  That's what Mom did, sometimes...slept through my visit.  And there was NO waking her, either.  You'll have pecans for years!  I suppose you put them in the freezer.  Congrats on the coat find for Luke..

Mary Lou, how nice for you.  Planning another visit is a good idea.  Won't happen unless you plan it.  Go while you can.  The little ones sound so sweet and fun. Their old-fashioned names make me smile.   What do your grands and great grands call you?

QB, smart to get rid of that bathtub mat.  I guess we'd all be amazed at how much sloughs off us every day!  But our bodies are made to do that.  Glad you're up to walking.  That's the one thing my cardio urged me to do is walk more...everyday. When you go to bingo, it's work for you.  Hope you can have fun, too.

Devonne, it's always fun to hear about your cruising/vacation adventures.  Carter will have fond memories of all these trips and Nana being along will be a big part of that.  Too bad about Hannah's horse.  Hope they can fix her and save her.  One good thing is Gary lives close enough to come to your house for some respite when he's had enough.  Surely he'll get his disability and when that happens, things will change for him.  Sweet baby dog.  Which one is this?

I just saw a cedar waxwing or a titmouse on the deck.  Not sure which it was but it had that little crest on it's head.  Time to get off here and get busy.  Have a good afternoon.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25 ~ SAT MARCH 2

Theresa, your box just arrived!  Thanks so much.

Judy, glad you got a good doctor's report.

Mary Lou, it's so good to hear that everyone had a great time, and that you are already thinking of another get-together.  Good family memories just can't be beat.

Sandra, you have been missed at Bingo!  What a great feeling that they love you so much.

Devonne, glad you are home safely and that everything was in good shape when you got home.  My sister leaves this Friday for her cruise.  So very sorry about the horse; it sounds awful.

Trish, hoping for good news on Megan's FIL.

I'm still putting things back in shape after the party.  I led tours yesterday -- I climbed nine flights of stairs.  Three flights three times each.  I was so tired last night I couldn't stay awake.

I went out to the esplanade to prune the last of the roses.  It was 73 when I got there.  An hour later it was 68.  We have lots of wind too.  At least I've finished all of the pruning, and now it's on to weeding flower beds and getting prepped for spring planting.  Only a couple more weeks until prime planting season for the summer color.

Tomorrow is set-up for the doll club at a local quilt show.  All of the stuff is in my house, so I guess I'd better start pulling it out and getting it into my car.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25 ~ SAT MARCH 2

Here, finally, is the quilt for Bingo Bonnie from the old message board.  Her daughter, Nora, died a year ago.  This was a FB group project that Lisa started.  We solicited the bright blocks, we made the dark blocks, she and I put it together -- yes, all of those star points match up!  I quilted it, and she bound it.  It's gorgeous, but never again.

Carol, I saw that quilt on the cover of the magazine, you did a beautiful job. How old was her daughter? So awful to lose a child.

It’s really windy out!

does anyone have a good/easy Alfredo sauce recipe?

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25 ~ SAT MARCH 2

Judy, your EF of 65 is great!  Mine is 40. My brother lived the last 3 years of his life with an EF of 15-20. Obviously he was quite low on energy but surprisingly was still able to take care of himself until the last month or so.     Yes, the little girls do have very old fashioned names. I am not particularly fond of Matilda’s name but definitely don’t like her nickname of Tilly. That is probably because a grade school friend had a mean grandma named Tilly.  Winnifred gets called by her whole name or Winnie or sometimes Freddie.  The older girls are almost always called Livi and Nora.   They all call me Grandma Lou, which Jessica named me when she was a toddler because Grandma Mary Lou was too much for her to say.  Their other great grandma is simply Granny. The little ones call David and Melanie Ozzie and Mia, not sure how that got started.

Yikes, turned on the TV and they are showing terrible wildfires in Texas! Snow on the ground, and fires. So awful.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25 ~ SAT MARCH 2

Good Morning, well, there is snow on the ground, about an inch, and it's raining.  It is 36* outside right now and very still.  The snow is dripping off the tree branches. Still a bunch of snow on the truck, but it is fading fast with the rain.

I have no plans for the day, am feeling a bit lazy, did get my exercises done though.  My garbage pail has blown over, but I guess the fellow  can right it and dump the garbage.  Since I have nothing to say, will just sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.
