Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 6 ~ SAT AUG 12

HOUSEKEEPING FIRST LOL

STRINGS, I removed the email for San, she has got in and I didn't want to leave it there.

SAN I can adjust your size when I log in, some can't do it from Kindle/phone etc, no big deal for me to do it.

DEVONNE the 150 size is just fine 200 if you want to, but the 150 is what I change to.

SANDRA how good that people are sharing, makes sense, and adds variety as well, you may not like some of it, but beats having to eat the same food yourself when you have too much, Hope you got enough rain, we need it badly, suppose to rain next few days, but looking unlikely right now!
I have a big slow cooker full of ham/pea soup, smells good already, I chopped all the veg and put it in last night with water, then just added the ham hock and split peas this morning, knew I wouldn't have time before I went to training.

DEVONNE that sounds like more money for you, be careful, having to pay out that much extra is a lot! I'm sorry about your sis, that is the reason she is in care though, hard to see when you see her as she was. ((((hugs))))

PATTY I'd love to go to the island too, I THINK it's also in the book Girl of the Limberlost, my favourite as a little girl. I still have it, sometimes get it out again for a read.

HOLLY I wonder about those recipes online - some look good, but I like the ones that are from an acknowledged site, we have Taste.com.au, they are tired and true. I saw your crochet, looks very pretty!

JANET how are things in your world, is your DD OK, awful for her to go through ((((hugs))))

THERESA it's hard to get everything AND everyone on the same page. How about a communication book?? If they will read it you can ask them to check things, I know most places run on very limited staff, they do here, and when you do find them they are all usually in the office - meeting (or having coffee LOL )

I did my group class this morning, weighed in, and paid for what I ate last weekend, so disappointed, but it's my own fault, going to stay on target this week.

Nothing much happening here, I need to finish that quilt, might get the borders on this weekend. AND fix up the spot where the points don't match. Then I can layer it up and quilt it, going to do it myself, it's not a big quilt.

I'm cold, I warmed up at raining, then had my shower washed my hair, and now I'm feeling chilly, quite cool today after a few warmer days, it's preparing us for the 3 days of cold and rain to come LOL

Keeping a good thought for all those in Maui, dreadful situation, and so many lives lost!

p.s. there is a lady in the UK Nancy Birtwhistle, she has lots of cleaning tips that are "good for the fishes" as she says, I just ordered books from the library. I've been seeing little videos of hers pop up. Thought I'd try some of them. I'm going to note down the recipes, hope they work.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 6 ~ SAT AUG 12

JANET we were posting same time, my sis is also a BOTH - I possibly could be, apparently I do lots of things left handed, I guess I just did what others did when I was little. My sis was never told to write with either left OR right, she just did, she's mostly right now. There are so many things you need specially for left handed when sewing - scissors, cutters. And one of my girlfriends is left handed, she learnt to knit the european way, she couldn't do it otherwise !

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 6 ~ SAT AUG 12

Trish, I don’t use anything special for sewing, just the standard scissors and rotary cutters. I guess I hold the scissors upside down. And I don’t watch lefty tutorials, I’m so used to doing crochet upside down and backwards from the righties, I just adjust it in my head.
From everything I’ve read, 10% of the population are natural lefties, it’s a natural variation/adaptation. My brother Mike is almost ambidextrous.
I’m off to bed. I’ve been jittery all week, I think it was waiting for Sam’s ashes to be buried, I’m relieved to have it done.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 6 ~ SAT AUG 12

Weird --  for some reason I can't enlarge Patty's post, sorry, no idea what to try

STRINGS  I wanted to delete it because it's not private here, i didn't want anyone taking it ((((hugs)))) can either you or SAN send it to me in an email, or a PM here?? THANK YOU for helping her.

We just watched an incredible game in the women's world soccer, my goodness, nail biting at the end, the Mathildas played France for a place in the semi finals, it ended up a penalty shootout, I've never seen one go for so long. I think it was 20 goals till they got a winner, Awful way to win though, it's mostly up to the goalie to save, they must feel terrible when they don't save it, it's at the high end of the sport though, so they should be proud.

Time for me to get to bed, the Mr has been working in the yard, he's exhausted himself, and has had a huge cramp a few hours ago. I've tried to tell him to drink lots, does he listen??? I also gave him some of my drink powder to help after using muscles, and have now made him have some magnesium.
He's complaining he has to keep visiting the toilet LOL because of all the fluid.

See you tomorrow, I'm sure there will be lots of celebrating in the pubs and clubs here. I'm glad we stayed home.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 6 ~ SAT AUG 12

Sorry, I don't know what happened to my message, it looked weird so I deleted it.

I am ambidextrous also. When I rotary cut I use both hands. I crochet right handed and knit the continental way. Writing and eating are definitely left handed. I can write with my right hand but it's slow. I have always been able to write better on a chalk board with my right hand.

Looks like we'll be getting more rain today. Hooray!!

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 6 ~ SAT AUG 12

MY NEIGHBOR WAS HERE USING MY PHONE AGAIN.  I AM JUST HAPPY SHE DOES NOT COME TOO EARLY.  I LIKE BEING SHOWERED AND DRESSED BEFORE ANYONE SEES ME IN THE MORNING.

ITS ANOTHER FINE DAY HERE.  THE RAIN HAS HELD OFF AND NOW NOT ANY TIL TOMORROW AFTERNOON OR EVENING.  THAT'S FINE THOUGH FOR MYGARDEN.  ITS HAD PLENTY THIS WEEK ALREADY.

DEVONNE......I NEVER HEARD OF KILT LETTUCE.  I WOULDN'T TRY IT ANYWAY SINCE I ONLY LIKE CRISPPY LETTUCE LIKE ICEBERG.  SOFT LETTUCE IS NOT ON MY MENU.
I HAVE AARP MEDICARE ADVANTAGE THRU UNITED HEALTHCARE FOR MY MEDICARE.  I DO NOT PAY A CENT FOR IT.
IT HAS A DEDUCTIBLE BUT THAT'S FOR HOSPITAL COSTS MAINLY.  MY REGULAR CARE DOCTOR VISITS ARE FREE AND ANY SPECIALIST IS ONLY $35 A VISIT.  AN ER VISIT IS $90.   MANY LAB COSTS ARE FREE AND EVEN MY BP MEDS ARE FREE.  THE MEDS ARE ON A TIER PLAN.  THEY COST A FLAT RATE DEPENDING ON THE TIER.  THE REALLY EXPENSIVE ONES I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A PERCENTAGE BUT LUCKILY I DO NOT NEED ANY COSTLY ONES.  I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PLAN.
LIKE YOU, IT TRY TO DO MY DISHES AS NITE BEFORE BEDTIME.  IF I DON'T THEY WAIT TIL THE NEXT NIGHT BUT I NEVER LET THEM GO MORE THAN THE 2 DAYS.

TRISH.......I LIKE THE IDEA OF SHARING.  ESPECIALLY WHEN I BUY A BOX OF SOMETHING LIKE THE DEVIL DOGS AND DO NOT WANT TO EAT THEM EVERY DAY FOR OVER A WEEK.  OR A WHOLE PIE CAN BE CUT IN PIECES TO SHARE.  AND A WATERMELON, THE SAME.
FOR RECIPES, I CHECK THEM OUT ON UTUBE TO SEE WHAT GOES INTO THEM AND HOW TO COOK THEM.  IT BEATS JUST READING A RECIPE FROM A PAGE.    BUT SOMETIMES A RECIPE CHANGES.  SUCH AS THE EGG BITES.  I WENT FROM EACH INDIVIDUAL ONE IN THE MUFFIN PAN, THEN TO THE CASSEROLE WITH THE HASH BROWNS AND FINALLY MY FAVORITE, THE TATER TOT SAUSAGE CASSEROLE WHICH IS SO MUCH SIMPLER AND WELL LOVED BY EVERYONE IN THE FAMILY AND NEIGHBORS, TOO.  I LIKE SIMPLER.

ENOUGH FROM ME.  HAVE A NICE DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 6 ~ SAT AUG 12

Good Morning to everyone!  I'm not feeling very bright this morning, took my shower, shampooed my hair, dried it and am  settling in now at the computer, with my breakfast.  It is beautiful outside, very slight, if any, breeze, it is 65*, but supposed to be in 90's today, not making me happy.

I'm not feeling very bright this morning, so will just sign off, hoping everyone is doing well, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 6 ~ SAT AUG 12

BJ, as Al Roker gives the weather report on Good Morning America, I think of you when he talks about the northwest part of our country.

My guild is having a quilt show next week so I have been "borrowing" some quilts that I made and gave to family members.  I think I will end up with more than twenty all together!  That includes bed quilts, throw size, and baby quilts.  I'll also take some table toppers and wall hangings.  I know that 2 other members will have approximately that many.  Other members haven't been quilting as long so they don't have as many.  But we should have enough to put on a great show.  Hopefully I will get some good photos.

There are a couple of small shepherds hook with solar lights beside my driveway.  With some erosion happening and a lot of rain overnight, one of them has fallen over and ended up in the ditch.  I'm afraid I will fall if I try to get it so will need to ask for help.  I have extended family members nearby so it shouldn't be hard to find someone.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 6 ~ SAT AUG 12

We are under another severe thunderstorm warning. I went over to Greg's house and we went to Panera Bread and Costco. I was getting baking goods, but the quantity was way more than I needed. Carter "secretly" told me he likes the Tesla better than the Bolt, lol. Of course, it costs a lot more, lol.

Marylou, I hope you get to share some photos here of the quilt show. It's nice you could "recover" some of the quilts from family for the show. I think you're wise to leave the shepherd's hook where it is & not fall.

Greg was a baseball pitcher in HS. He pitched right handed, but batted left handed. He is a left handed golfer.  I cut using scissors with my right hand, but I use the rotary blade cutter with either hand. I write and peel veggies with my left hand. I wear my watch on my right arm. I tried it on my left and it feels wrong, lol.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 6 ~ SAT AUG 12

STRINGS I got your PM THANK YOU safer than putting it on here. I'll change it in the file I have. I appreciate the trouble you have gone to helping San!

PATTY too funny, I must have been trying to change when you were deleting LOL I haven't heard yet about the books, I should get an email tomorrow, they close on Sat at lunchtime, and back Mon. Our little branch has some odd hours, they don't open on Thurs till noon, and stay open late.

DEVONNE seem like lefties might run in families. Greg is like my sis, Do you like the Tesla, I don't really like the shape of them - one of the girls at training has one. I haven't seen the other.

MARYLOU that is a lot of quilts, I would love to see the pics as well. Will they be on show for a few days?

BJ I am sorry you don't feel so great today, maybe rest a bit, you might have overdone it a bit with visiting. Rest my friend ((((hugs))))

SANDRA I have tons of hamper soup to share, we'll have it tonight, but I'll cook some steaks as well. I have never heard of that lettuce either, and I like mine crispy, I put into an ice bath in summer often to crisp them up before serving. I love that crunch in your mouth LOL

We are getting a very light sprinkle, my beck is sore today, I think I slept funny on the pillow. I have tried to keep turning and loosen it up.

I was going to get the borders cut on the quilt, but can't be bothered today, Maybe I will get more energy another day.

I'll lock and bring up the next week,

Have a great Sunday everyone!
