Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

It's after midnight so will post on Sunday's thread. The time that shows up here isn't right for me...I'm an hour ahead.

Marylou, that is wonderful news about your great nephew. It took about 10 minutes to download my Iphone and my laptop update. Thanks for the reminder about the update, Holly. I have it set to do automatic updates, but it's not working for some reason. Greg normally reminds me.

Yesterday was Caleb's 5th birthday. I thought we were all going out to eat, but Gary texted me it would be today.

I made low carb brownie bites yesterday...2 ingredients. They were surprisingly very moist. You bake them in a mini muffin pan. No flour! I am enjoying trying the recipes I find on You Tube.

Theresa, are you hand sewing these flowers or did you get Todd to bring your sewing machine?

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

WE GOT 2 1/2 INCHES OF RAIN THRU THE DAY YESTERDAY.  MY GARDEN LOVED IT.
THE WINDS, THO, KEEP BLOWING TOO HARD.  THEY HAVE PRACTICALLY BLOWN OVER MY PARLEY PLANTS IN THEIR LITTLE POTS.  I HOPE THEY MAKE IT TIL I TRANSPLANT THEM.
THIS MORNING I WENT OUT AND PLACED A SHEET BORDER BEHIND THE PLANTS WHEN THEY ARE HARDENING OFF HOPING THEY GET LESS WIND DAMAGE.  ITS BEEN SO DARN WINDY AROUND HERE.

I MADE PIZZA LAST NITE AND ENJOYED IT.  TODAY I PLAN TO MAKE BRACIOLE (STUFFED AND ROLLED STEAK) IN SAUCE WITH SPAGHETTI.  I MAKE AN EASY BREAD STUFFING LIKE I DO FOR STUFFING TURKEY, JUST BREAD, MELTED BUTTER, FINELY CHOPPED CELERY AND ONIONS AND HERBS.   I HAVE NOT MADE IT FOR AWHILE AND MISS IT.

THE AIR SMELLED OF LILACS TODAY.  WE HAVE A LILAC BUSH IN OUR BACK PATIO GARDEN THAT IS BEGINNING ITS BLOOMING.  SMELLS SO LOVELY OUT THERE WHILE I'M WORKING.

NOT MUCH TO REPORT TODAY.  THANKS DEVONNE FOR SENDING ALONG PICS.  I LOVE TO SEE WHAT YOU ARE GROWING AND COOKING.  THOSE BROWNIE BITES LOOK GOOD.

I WILL BE BACK WITH SOME PIX.  HUGS, QB S

HERE'S SOME PIX TAKEN THIS MORNING.....

MY GARDEN BED WITH LILACS ON RIGHT.  SEE THE BLOOMS.

I PLACED A SHEET BEHIND MY HARDENING OFF PLANTS TO KEEP THEM FROM SNAPPING OFF IN THE WIND.

MY LITTLE RADISH ROW DOING GOOD.  THAT'S ONION CHIVES TO THEIR RIGHT.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

Rain stopped, but cloudy. Ralph’s brother and SIL are on a cruise, so no Sunday lunch. So we went to brunch at a place we like but they don’t.

Diane, yikes on the roof, etc. Lots of $$$$!

Mary Lou, that’s wonderful on all the scholarships!

Ralph was checking the trail cams from our front yard. Raccoons, possums, fox, deer, skunks.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

Good Morning, only 60* outside.  Tracy is very miserable, she is getting ready to head home.  Making coffee right now.  So sorry she is so miserable, she got a message from her doctor that she had been given the wrong medicine, so she had called in a new Rx.  What a problem, Jamie will pick it up this morning so she will  have it when she gets home.   Maybe the two doses today will allow her to work tomorrow.  Sure hope so.

Took my shower this morning, already dressed and ready for breakfast.  Hungry this morning so that will taste good.  I am going to quit now and go visit with Tracy before she leaves.  Wishing you all a wonderful day, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

Sandra, it's only an 8 oz. bag of zero sugar chips and 3 eggs. Melt the chips every 20 seconds until melted. Separate the egg yolks and the whites. Add the egg yolks to melted chips (once cooled). Beat the whites until stiff and fold in the chips/eggs mixture. Bake at 325 for 10-13 minutes. I filled the cups to 3/4 full...about a teaspoon. I used dark chocolate, which are a little rich. I'll try milk chocolate the next time. Perfect for a sugar free chocolate snack!

I have sad news. Last month "E" lost the keys to the HD store. An employee found them for her, but someone reported it to management. This is an automatic dismissal & she was let go Friday.

She worked only 4 miles from home and that will certainly change. There aren't many jobs in this little town. I always hated looking for a new job. It sucks!

BJ, you sound so much better. So sorry Tracy is sick and that's bad getting the wrong RX! Hope the new one makes her feel better real soon.

We're going to their favorite Mexican place at 6:00 for Caleb's birthday. They go there all the time, but I've never been. I'll give you the review!

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

HERE ARE THE TWO LILAC BUSHES WE HAVE OUTSIDE OUR PATIO AREA.  I TOOK PIX TODAY.

THIS ONE IS THE ONE YOU SEE IN MY GARDEN PICTURE.  THEY ARE JUST STARTING TO BLOOM AND SMELL LOVELY.

THIS IS THE ONE CLOSER TO OUR PATIO SITTING AREA.  WE HAVE 2 OTHER SMALLER ONES AT THE FRONT ENTRY WHICH ARE ONLY 3 YEARS OLD, SO NOT LARGE LIKE THESE.  BUT STILL THEY PUT OUT SOME LOVELY FLOWERS AND AROMAS.
WHEN WE GET MORE BLOOMS, I WILL CUT SOME FOR MY APT.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

Quick stop.

Congratulations to your great nephew, Mary Lou!  Three scholarships will definitely help.  Every dollar counts.

Sandra, the lilacs are beautiful.  Alas, they do not like our southern climate, so none here.  Thanks for sharing so that I can participate vicariously.

Devonne, so very sorry about "E" losing her job.  That's tough.

Theresa, continued thoughts and prayers.  I know you're pretty close to getting your mom out of there, and I imagine that will be fraught with all kinds of drama.  Thinking of you.

Not much new here.  Astros keep me busy, gardening is always there, lots of sewing, and house projects.  Just trying to get things squared away.  No tours this week due to a concert, so a lot of things I need to catch up on.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

Mexican place was very good. We have the same one coming to Villa Rica, but it's not open yet. Got to see all of my family, even Logan came by their place before I left. Logan has officially left and moved in with his GF. He won't come back unless they break up. I'm glad to see him moving on with his life. E's Mom & Dad were there and I think the world of both of them.

E was stressed out, but she's already started looking. She is the "someone" that told the store manager she lost the keys. She should have waited a few hours.

Carter and Greg flew to Orlando for the weekend and went to Universal. Their season passes expire the end of the month. They're headed home now. Nice to be young and energetic!

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

THANK YOU ALL for using the new thread, and THANK YOU to Diane for locking, I had a few things to deal with here.
The MIL of our god daughter ( Dianne's youngest) died, she had been unconscious for 2 weeks, and they knew she didn't want any unnecessary measures to prolong life, really sad, she was a very beautiful, sprightly very  fit lady, she is going to be missed very much - Kristen has been hit hard, brought back so many memories of her own mum's death, they were all very close with MIL and family.

SANDRA wow, pretty lilacs, we also can't grow them here, too much heat LOL your veggies are coming along nicely, that is windy, we have also had pretty strong winds, AND cold - I have had the heat on early most days, just to take the chill out of the house, this house is COLD !!

DEVONNE sad to read about E, I hope she can find employment, your recipe sounds good, yum I am in need of chocolate right now, but I have none, so it's lucky really LOL

THERESA almost there, you have been gone so long it will feel strange being home - well done on a great job!!

INDY I didn't congratulate Andrew on his results, he has worked hard, and deserves it all!

MARYLOU that is great about the scholarships, it's wonderful to still have that one from your family, means so much, education is so expensive - everywhere.

HOLLY getting that wool used up - great idea, I tossed out a lot of fabric this week (well it's in the car boot LOL ) I decided that I have held onto a couple projects too long, so out they went last night, the cupboard looks less full, and my heart is lighter, they have been weighing me down. I put the pattern in with them and maybe someone will take them on.

I went to yoga today, there is a new teacher on every 2nd Monday, she is very good, but difficult to understand, she is either Sri Lankan or Indian. She speaks quickly and my ear hasn't quite got her accent in my head yet! , she will be easier to understand in a couple weeks, WOW she works us harder, it's more traditional yoga and hard to do, a lot of balance - and this old lady (and a couple others) struggled LOL We'll get better though.

I need to get something organised for dinner, we have chops, and plenty of veg to pick from in the fridge, I didn't do a grocery shop this week yet, might do a pick up tomorrow. I also found some good shower gel in the bathroom, so will take it away with us we leave in 2 1/2 weeks YIKES, better start my list, I will take long life milk and cereal, and some spreads. Plus other things I think we might need - I can buy them there, but if I do an order the day before for pick up it will be all packed into bags already, I'm getting lazy aren't I LOL

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

ITS A BEAUTIFUL DAY OUT THERE AT 55F.  ONLY HITTING THE 60S TODAY AND LESS WIND.  I THINK I MAY TRANSPLANT SOME TOMATOES TODAY.  THE FORECAST DOES NOT HAVE ANY FROST IN OUR 15 DAYS AHEAD.  GOING FROM 40S AT NITE TO THE 50S BY END OF MONTH, SO KIND OF NICE.  I CAN ALWAYS COVER WITH TOWELS IF WE HEAR OF A FROST LOOMING.
I WILL CHECK IN LATER.  HAVE A GOOD DAY.
HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

Sandra, our last official frost day is May 15, so we should be in the clear now. Ralph planted a lot of sunflowers and wildflower seeds.

Steph and Dan arrived safely in Iceland, their second trip there. She said 300k people live in the country, and 200k of them live in Reykjavik. She and Dan have researched what they want to see, and where they want to eat. They got upgraded to a suite at their hotel.

Devonne, I’d equate losing the HD keys to a nurse losing the narcotics keys- extremely serious. Depending on the protocol, locks might have to be changed, a lot of people, possibly including the police, to be notified. So not as simple as misplacing your car keys. And maybe no wiggle room in the dismissal issue. I do hope she can find another job soon.

Trish, I must not have been paying attention, where is your trip to?

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

Good Morning to everyone!!  It has been raining here, 55*, not a very pleasant day.  The nurse is coming here today, in about 20 minutes.  I haven't met  her before, so someone new.  Tracy arranged it for me, as I'm in my mid-80's.  Hard to believe!!

Have a new shirt on today, it is white with long sleeves, very nice, have no idea where it came from, just found it in my closet, cut the tags off and decided to wear it today.  Very pretty, just love it!!  One of the things when one has had a stroke, don't remember anything from before it.

Think I will sign off, don't have anything else to say, hope you have a very nice day, sending love and best wishes, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

It’s been a busy day for me. First, I had a dental checkup this morning. I’ve been having some very mild discomfort occasionally, could be from my sinus issues but dentist also thinks it could mean I will be needing a root canal in the near future. There is an iffy looking nerve on the x-ray. But for now, he does not recommend anything. This appointment was in the town closest to my hometown. Then I drove on to the next town, did a little bit of shopping at Hobby Lobby, had lunch at MacAllisters, then went for my cardiologist checkup.  I saw a different one today because the one I had been seeing moved back home to Taiwan so he can take care of his elderly parents. I hated to see him leave but think I am going to like the new one. He said everything looks good and as long as I continue to feel well, there is no need to change anything. Yippee!  I mentioned to the nurse that I would see her again in three weeks for my yearly device (pacemaker) check. She checked with the device team and they went ahead and did it today.  Yippee!  Now I don’t have to go back to that office until August when I see the valve specialist. Next, I went to Home Goods where a found a nice wooden tray with a pressed tin bottom. I plan to set it on an antique trunk in the sun room to put plants on. It should be a good spot for plants because it is in front of a south window.  Now I’m back home and ready to relax this evening. I brought home half of my chicken salad sandwich from lunch so will have that tonight. My dessert will be chocolate sheet cake left from the one I made to take to the graduation party yesterday.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

My lawn guy came today. It looks really good. I got him to trim my hedges out front for their first trimming.

Holly, that was an excellent equation. Yes, they would have to call the police, spend thousands changing locks, etc. If you know this when you're hired, you have to take better precautions, not treat them like your regular car keys.

Marylou, I love McAllister's chicken salad. I love shopping at Home Goods and Hobby Lobby. That was my kind of trip!

Sandra, I'm so glad you have a place to garden. The patio looks so inviting. I think I would sit out there every evening when it was warm enough.

Devonne, it would be fun if we could take a shopping trip together, wouldn’t it?

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

I miss McAllister’s! When I would visit Manda in Houston we’d always go. There was also a place called LaMadeline’s and a restaurant near NASA called Frenchy’s that we loved. We don’t have McAllistairs up here.

Mary Lou, sounds like a really productive day!

Devonne, I’m glad you liked my comparison, I was trying to be realistic without sounding mean.

It’s back up in the 70’s here, windows back open.

I was afraid my credit card had been used fraudulently, so Bank of America cancelled that account and sent me a new card which arrived today. I spent some time on the computer entering the new account on Amazon, Netflix, Hulu and Ancestry. Not hard but it took time.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 21 ~ SAT MAY 27

GOOD EVENING!

THIS MAY BE SHORT. 5 WEEK EYE APPOINTMENT THIS AFTERNOON.  MY SIS AND I WENT TO LUNCH BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT AND WE WENT TO HALLMAKRK TO SEE ABOUT GRADUATION CARDS. PICKED OVER. OUR HALLMARK CARDS ARE JUST A FEW RACKS IN ACE HARDWARE STORES.  DHD #3 GRADUATES ON WEDNESDAY. HARD TO BELIEVE.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GRADUATES HERE.

I HAVE CAUGHT UP ON READING, EVEN LAST WEEK. TOOK SOME NOTES, BUT WON'T GO INTO EVERY THING.

LOVE THE PHOTOS OF YARDENS. THAT WAS TRM THAT PAUL JAMES OR JERRY BAKER USED. FORGET WHICH. I DO LIKE THE MADE UP UP WORK. I HAVE BEEN DOING WATERING SINCE NO RAIN SINCE A DAY OR TWO AFTER THE NEW SHRUBS PLANTED. GETTING A LITTLE BIT OF EXERCISE. IT IS EASIER WITH THE SOAKER HOSE. IF I GET SOME PLANTS IN THE POTS ON THE BACK PATIO, WILL NEED ANOTHER HOSE.

I WANT SOME NEW GUIENEA IMPATIENTS OR MY DIL WAS TELLING ME ABOUT SOME CALLED SUN IMPATIENTS. BACK GETS MORE SUN THAN FRONT. I LIKE IMPATIENTS BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE DEADHEADED OR TTIMED AS PETUNIAS HAVE TO BE. WILL GET THE SHADE ONES FOR THE FRONT. THEY USUALLY BLOOM PROFUSELY AND COME IN LOVELY COLORS. THERESA, YOU MIGHT THINK OF THOSE FOR EASY CARE. I USUALLY TRIM PETUNIAS TO KEEP THEM FROM GETTING LEGGY AND BUSH OUT MORE. THEY ARE STICKY AND I HATE THAT TOO.

SO FAR, THE BEAUTIFUL HANGING BASKET THAT DS#1 AND DIL GOT ME IS DOING WELL. HEADHEADED A FEW BLOOMS BUTMORE SHOUD APPEAR SOON. FINALLY GOT AROUND TO HEADHEADING THE PEONY. WANT SOME MORE FOR THE BACK YARD, MAYBE NEXT YEAR. THE ONE I HAVE CAME FROM A CUTTING FROM LATE DMIL.

WE JAVE A ,CCA;;OSTERS ARCOSS TOWN. MY SIS DOESN'T LIKE IT, SO WE DON'T EAT THERE. I HAVE EATEN THERE SEVERAL TIMES AND LIKE IT. WISH WE HAD A HOBBY LOBBY. AT A STORE IN CHRISTIANSBURG PRE PANDEMIC, SAID WE WOULD BE GETTING ONE. GUESS THE PANDEMIC KILLED THAT. WISH I COULD GET TO HOME GOODS, ROSS FOR LESS AND SEVERAL OTHER STORES.  THINK OUR TUESDAY MORNING IS CLOSING.

SANDRA, WHEN YOU PLACE TOWELS ON YOUR PLANTS, SO YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO KEEP THE TOWEL FROM SMASHING THE PLANTS?

BETTER GET OFF. EYES NEED TO REST A BIT.

THINKING OF EVERYONE. PRAYERS.................................................
