1/2 cup ground beef
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup currants
2/3 cup sugar
2 T. water
1/2 cup finely chopped apples
1 T. molasses
2 T. vinegar
1 T. lemon juice
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp each: cinnamon, cloves, (recipe also calls for dash of nutmeg, which I never use)
2 T butter
Mix ingredients, except for butter, and put in refrigerator overnight. Place bottom crust in pan, add filling, pat butter on top and cover w/top crust. Bake at 425* for 5 minutes then 45 minutes at 350*. Enjoy!
This is a recipe from my 94 yr. old aunt in Maine, BJ Kendall
P.S. I always double ingredients for a single pie.

Mom's Mac-N-Cheese (from one of the newspaper inserts) I've tried this and it's easy and good. The only thing I didn't care for was the "torn white bread". Next time I make it, I'll make regular bread crumbs in the food processor to use.
Ingredients:
4 cups cooked macaroni
3/4 stick of butter in pats
Torn white bread
15 American cheese slices
Shredded cheddar cheese, to taste (No amount was given so whatever...or maybe none is necessary?)
1 egg
1 1/4 cup milk
Directions:
In a greased casserole dish (I used a large 9 x13), layer the macaroni, cheeses and butter, in that order. Cover with the torn bread.
Combine 1 egg and 1 1/4 cups milk and pour over the casserole.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. (The torn bread wasn't bad, just rather odd.)
