You have all given me lots to look up, I had never heard of foot drop, interesting. Hope it gets better DEVONNE & JANET.

Also about the Harvati cheese, yes I would say its mild, I hadn't heard of the other you mentioned HOLLY, I haven't had any Parvati for a while, now I have to add it to my list

STRINGS I am also growing my hair, still short at the back, but longer on the sides, almost there, it hasn't been too bad, I go to the hairdresser every 4 weeks or so, sometimes 5, depends on how my schedule fits, holiday etc, I make my appointments for the whole year to fit in cut just before we go away. My hairdresser, Cassie, is great, and I get a text each Sat before my Tues appt. She also knows she can message me with a change if she needs to.

INDY so what was wrong with the cake, or are you being too hard on yourself!! It does come around quickly every 2 weeks, the last orange cake I made needed extra cooking in the middle, but not the outside It was OK, but I'll stick to making cupcakes with the mix next time!

SANDRA good news for your friend, she might need a little help with things if the radiation makes her tired. I know you will help her with the occasional meal. Hope Matt is able to get everything on your list, and he enjoys his vacation.

DEVONNE sorry for the news for your DGS, I'm glad he has somewhere to go, that was good about the pellets, I had no idea there was a'"rule" to cook with them, I would have had the lid closed too. I am sure Gary uses them and he has the lid closed, but maybe a different sort of pellet. He does a lot of smoking meats, making bacon etc.

It's almost time for our football final to start, I will put headphones on and read, or watch a movie on the iPad
Daylight saving started last night, I changed our bedside clock before I went to bed, and it's been hot today, feels strange to be having dinner while it's still so light, but we get used to it.
I just spent most of the afternoon unpicking - I had changed the bobbin, thought I did it properly, I usually do a test - didn't this time, and finally realised that there was something wrong, the seams were holding, but if they gave out it would be disastrous, so 2 rows and 2 of joining blocks and I'm back to where I started  Friday, at least it was quick to unpick, what a silly mistake to make, I looked a couple times and thought the stitches looked loose, but kept going.

Time for me to shut down - I am not sewing any more tonight.

I did my PT first thing, before breakfast, so it’s over with. I saved a picture months ago for an idea. It’s for going up the stairs, which I don’t have any, but Manda does, to the second floor, and Heather does, to her finished basement. I’m cutting muslin squares 7.5 inches, for the base, then doing flip and stitch with leftover strips. For the longest row, which would be the lower stairs wall, you make a strip of ten block. The next is nine blocks, etc. you get a long enough curtain rod to hang them on. I’ve got so many scraps! I plan to make it like a rainbow following the color wheel, with one row being all blue squares made into a strip, etc. I have a bolt of muslin that I bought years ago. I showed Manda the inspiration pic, and she loves the idea. I got as far as cutting some muslin strips which I’ll cut into squares, when the knees had enough.

Today’s lunch is at Texas Roadhouse with F and C.

Devonne, I’m glad I had girls, and sports indifferent ones! That whole travel team is for the birds, such a time waster for the parents!

Another beautiful day here, sunny and in the 70’s.

Good morning friends!

Havarti cheese...yum!  I like to eat it with a tart apple as a snack.

Judy, your comment "haven't had roast in a coon's age" make me smile.  My mom used to say that.  Just how long is a coon's life?   I was thinking of a roast, carrots and potatoes today too.

Devonne, we are not sure why Gabriel is so hesitant to drive.  Amelia said it was because  his mom said he was to be her "designated driver when she is drunk".  So we are not sure.  Amelia does tend to stretch the truth for sure.    But I can see that witch actually saying that because Aaron told her if he finds out that she has driven drunk or drinking with those kids, he will take her to court.  She has a drinking problem.  Amelia says it is because of her job and it is so stressful.    She is an X-ray technician in a hospital.  She is on call often and does get called in but it cannot be that stressful.  Her kids think she is a doctor.    Anyway, Gabriel was able to get his temporary license last December but he has not wanted to do so.  It would make it so much easier on us if he drove to and from school since both he and Amelia not attend the same school building.

Devonne, I do not miss those sports days.  Aaron and Anthony both played soccer and those soccer tournaments were the same; all day with one game right after the other.  Aaron was really good and played on a traveling team; they often played in Michigan for tournaments.  It was a long day but it was thrilling so see him play as he was the "goalie".

Another beautiful day here too.  Sunny and 70's.  The trees are still not turning and usually by this time they have some color.  Not so yet but the nights are cooler so perhaps this week.

The deer are decimating my plants.    ALL my hostas are gone, they are eating the flowers off of my geraniums.  Now they are starting on my  hydrangeas.  The side one is down to stems.  So last night I threw a light sheet over the one in the front of my house. I did read that if the plant is too damaged from the deer, it may not come back next year.  Hopefully this will work.

Holly, I love Texas Roadhouse, but don't go too often because I cannot stop eating that delicious bread.

Sandra, your rooster is so cute!

Have a wonderful day all.

The leaves here are just turning brown and falling off. No color?
Holly- I think I know what staircase wall hanging you’re referring to. I saved it too.
Like my DH says. “Put it on the list”. lol
We have a lot of deer but little damage. I guess they don’t like the stuff we have…gardenias, Leland Cypress, Nellie Holly etc. They do eat the azaleas but they always come back in the spring.
It’s cold here again. Can’t stand it.
My studio is in full sun and upstairs so it’s the warmest room in the house. 😊. I guess I’ll just have to go up. Later

Trish, not me that has foot drop but Holly and Janet. I don't need any more problems, lol.

I found another large armadillo hole in the backyard last night. I was able to fill it with the rest of the potting soil from the pots. Will see if they dig it out again.

I was so surprised to see I have two hydrangeas blooming. This is my first hydrangeas ever. I remember when I bought them they were called Endless Summer? Just beautiful! The other one is on the other side behind a bush. Guess what I'm cutting down? The bush, of course.

OOPS sorry, I realised I had the wrong person DEVONNE - you really don't need more problems Pretty hydrangeas!!

HOLLY I googled the stair case quilt, I think I have it right, are you doing strips, or all in one. I have seen both, one was in a colour wave, like a rainbow, very pretty.

JANET I didn't think the azaleas would come back?? Mine are a bit temperamental , they don't like me messing with them, luckily the prettiest one is NOT where the Mr likes to trim

INDY my school friends are all with us, not their partners though I don't know how we'd all feel when one of us dies, it will be hard, known each other since kindy, so the loss would be difficult.

Nothing much happening here, it was a public holiday here today, so no class for me OR the Mr. I did get most of the top finished, just borders to do now.
And I sorted out his cpap machine requirements for our 5 night cruise, had to ring Celebrity, apparently they won't do it for me, the travel agent we booked through has to request distilled water and power, she will do it when she gets back to the office, ridiculous, as I have checked in and set up all the payment etc for onboard.

It's been cooler here tonight after a hot day, nice as it was still quite warm last night.
I have a big pile of sheets to toss, no idea where to take them, I had just way too many, and we only need a few. Nice to have some cupboard space cleared

I had leftovers tonight, we had a roast on Sat night then a favourite of hokkein noodles, mince and stir fry veg, with Teriyaki sauce last night - they love it and it makes a big pot, so plenty of whatever for dinner tonight.

I have training in the morning and the Mr has his bowls, I will finish up the cleaning and also finish the borders ready to take to Julie on Friday, hopefully she will get it quilted fairly quickly and I can bind and give it to sis!

My brother is not well, apparently not eating and spending most of his time resting. My SIL is odd, one minute she says it's all good and he's doing well, next says he will be on palliative care from now . He hasn't spoken to me, I leave messages, but his wife always responds. I need to go see him, but I want to go by myself, the Mr said he will go, and my sis wants me to go with her when she sees him, but I need to make peace with him myself.

Today is a cloudy, rainy day. I'm going to clean the microwave and straighten up the pantry. Need to organize my spices so I can get them all in the same place. I have one of those long, over the door shelf racks, but I've put things in there that are not spices, lol. My pantry is really small. I only have 3 shelves.

Trish, how far away is your brother? Maybe you can go with your sister and she can give the two of you some time alone?

I had to get a new car tag, even though I just got one in July when I bought my vehicle. It's not much, $22, but it's crazy they make you get a new one so soon.

Melena (my niece) told me Medicaid reduced Shelby's nursing home (memory care) from $3023 a month to $1152 in February. She doesn't know why, but it was a pleasant surprise.

ALL IN A DAY'S WORK......
AS I WROTE MY SUNDAY SERMON ON THE EVILS OF GOSSIP, I TOUCHED ON THE BOOK OF NUMBERS, CHAPTER 12, WHICH MENTIONS THAT MOSES HAD A SECOND WIFE.
MY OWN DEAR WIFE WAS NEARBY.  SO, FEIGNING INNOCENCE, I ASKED, "HONEY, WOULD IT BE OK IF I HAD TWO WIVES?"
"SURE, HONEY," SHE ANSWERED UNDERSTANDINGLY.  "BUT I WON'T BE ONE OF THEM."

ANOTHER 80S DAY BUT RAIN IS COMING IN THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS.  I THINK WE MAY BE GETTING DEVONNE'S RAIN.

I DON'T HAVE MUCH TO REPORT TODAY.  I ORDERED MY FARMER'S CHEESE FROM MICHIGAN AND GOT 2-DAY DELIVERY.  THEY MAIL OUT ORDERS ON MON. AND TUES. SO I WILL GET IT THIS WEEK.
I HAVE STARTED MY LAST MRS. POLLIFAX IN THE SERIES AND ENJOYING IT AS USUAL.
NOTHING EXCITING HAPPENING.  I WISH YOU ALL A GOOD AND SAFE DAY.  HUGS, QB S

We went and ordered the dryer. Turns out the owners are retiring, and will close November 1, so everything is reduced. I saved like $400! It’s a Speed Queen gas dryer. It will be delivered and installed Wednesday, and the old one hauled away.

Trish, I’m doing it in strips. Funny that Janet and I both saved the picture! I’ll put it up on my blog tonight or tomorrow. I cut the muslin squares 7.5 inches. The longest row, 10 squares, I’m doing in blues. I got out the scrap bins, and I’m separating out and ironing the blues.

Another gorgeous early fall day in the 70’s. Dinner will be leftovers from Texas Roadhouse. Cheryl, I love the rolls too, but didn’t have any this time.

Tomorrow after PT we’re going to Walgreens and getting flu shots, and I’m getting my Covid shot- he won’t.

Now I’m going to sit and read my book, my knees had enough of standing in the sewing room.

Holly, you have way more will power than I!  I cannot go to Texas Roadhouse without eating those rolls.

I have the beef roast, potatoes and carrots in the oven.  I went to Giant Eagle (grocery store) yesterday and they had zero meats in the cases.  I assume they are updating the meat cases or they had a problem.  No luncheon meats, hotdogs, hamburger, chicken, beef, pork....nothing except the frozen meats.  So I had to run to a different store today and got the chuck roast.  Yikes, it was expensive for chuck cut, $21.49 so it better be great.

Holly, I don't get the flu shot either and my PA gets a little annoyed at me.  She does not say so, but her face tells me and she brings it up every time I see her.  lol!

Another lovely day, but supposed to rain tomorrow and the temperature will drop into the 60s.  Janet, out trees here just have brown leaves too.  I think the summer drought prevented the colors.  They are just dropping from the trees with a little yellow and red, but mostly just brown.

ALL IN A DAY'S WORK.......
DICK BARNETT PLAYED BASKETBALL FOR THE N.Y. KNICKS IN THE 60S AND 70S.  WHEN HE AND HIS FORMER COACH RED HOLZMAN WERE HONORED BY THE KNICKS SOME YEARS BACK, ACCORDING TO THE N.Y. TIMES, BARNETT TOLD OF THE TIME SOME OF THE PLAYERS DECIDED TO SEE A BURLESQUE SHOW AT THE HOTEL WHERE THEY WERE STAYING, EVEN IF IT MEANT MISSING CURFEW.
"WHEN WE MENTIONED IT TO RED, " SAID BARNETT, "HE TOLD US NOT TO GO BECAUSE WE MIGHT SEE SOMETHING THERE THAT WE SHOULDN'T SEE.  BUT WE WENT TO THE BURLESQUE SHOW ANYWAY.
"AND WE DID SEE SOMETHING THERE THAT WE SHOULDN'T HAVE SEE.  WE SAW RED."

ITS ANOTHER 80S DAY TODAY BUT RAIN PREDICTED FOR TONITE AND TOMORROW.  WE SURE COULD USE IT.  THE TREES WON'T BE COLORFUL THIS FALL WITH THE DRYNESS.  THEY ARE ALREADY BROWN AND CURLING ON THE TREES.  ITS A SHAME.

HOLLY....THAT'S GREAT YOU GOT A GOOD DEAL ON A NEW DRYER.  HOORAY FOR YOU.

ON GETTING FLU SHOTS......I GET BOTH BOOSTERS EVERY FALL.  THIS YEAR THEY ARE GIVING THEM HERE ON TH 15TH AND I WILL BE THERE AS USUAL.

I AM SO ORGANIZED NOW ITS GREAT.  I EVEN DID MY SPICE CABINET IN ALPHA ORDER.  I COULDN'T GET ALL THE JARS ON THE SAME GRADUATED RACK BECAUSE SOME WERE TOO BIG TO FIT IN ALPHA ORDER, SO I JUST PLACED THOSE TALL ONES ON THE SHELF ABOVE, IN ALPHA ORDER.  NOW I WON'T BE BUYING A SPICE THAT I ALREADY HAVE LIKE I DID NOT TOO LONG AGO.  NOW I HAVE 2 JARS OF ONION POWDER.  YUP, ALPHA ORDER WILL BE A GOOD DEAL.

ITS COFFEE MORNING BUT I SKIP BREAKFAST NOW AND HAVE A NICE LUNCH INSTEAD.  TODAY I PLAN ON FRENCH TOAST WITH LINK SAUSAGES.  I LOVE HAVING BREAKFAST FOR A REGULAR MEAL.

I ORDERED A FEW THINGS ONLINE YESTERDAY INCLUDING CHECKS AND THAT EXTENSION CORD I NEED TO MAKE MY PRESSING CORNER IDEAL.  THAT TARGET ORDER SHOULD BE ARRIVING TODAY.  MY CHEESE MAY BE ON ITS WAY.  AND I AM HAPPY.
STAY SAFE MY FRIENDS.  HUGS, QB S

The only way to avoid those yeast rolls at Texas Roadhouse is tell them not to bring them, lol!

I ordered a paint kit from Etsy. I'm by no means an artist, but I wanted to try my hand at it. It was only an 8x8 design, but it was a lot of fun with lots of mistakes. She lives alone and just quit work at 74 years old. I wanted to help her financially with a purchase.

I goofed up on the legs..they are too big and too dark.

Today I am getting out of the house. Going to walk more. Going to Hiram where Billy and I always had our "Tuesday date." Not eating out...will eat before I leave.

I'm undecided about getting the flu shot. Definitely not getting anymore Covid shots.

Good Morning to everyone!!  Just sent Elly off to the groomers.  She'll come back all shiny and new looking.  There's not much I can say here, my mind isn't working very well.  So I guess I'd better sign off, wishing you all a wonderful day, BJ.

We’ve only been to a RoadHouse twice, last year there was one across the street from the hotel we stayed in at the racetrack in Charlotte. It was good.  None near enough to us here.
Trish- the azaleas are scrawny because the people here before us never took care of them.  I may rip them out next spring.
Holly- just looked at your blog…yes….same picture. Lol
Dinner tonight is Puerto Rican rice and beans, except that I use No Yolk noodles instead of rice.

As Janet said, the inspiration picture is up on my blog.

Cheryl, I always get the flu shot, since I had the flu 30 years ago. 103 temps for several days, sick as a dog. I also got the Covid. Ralph only got the flu shot, he won’t get any more Covid shots.

I had PT, and we went from there to Walgreens for the shots. Came home and had lunch, now I’m resting the knees.

Sandra, I like breakfast foods for any meal!

It’s another sunny day, upper 70’s.

I like your bird, Devonne.  Remember, you're allowed 'artistic license'.     Don't tell anyone his legs are to big and dark and no one will pick that out.  Nice of you to think of someone else's need.   Did you like doing it enough to  get another?

When I was first married (the 1st time ) I did two rather large paint by numbers.  The one I remember was a stallion posing on top of a tall cliff or maybe a mesa.  I was OCD meticulous about  staying in the lines, and oh,  how I wish that wasn't one of the many things I got rid of, but of course, kept stuff that's meaningless.

Trish you asked about the pumpkin cake.  I suppose it was more me than the cake. But, neither Howard or I cared much for it and nobody else commented on it.     It was  rather "plain Jane" with no icing.   But in spite of a whole can of pumpkin and 1 1/4 C. of oil, it seemed  dry.  We put a big gob of Cool Whip on it--extra creamy, at that.

QB, that's such a good feeling to get something organized according to your wishes.  If only they would stay that way.  ML alphabetized a drawer of my spices but they are somewhat out of order now.  Didn't you just get an order of Farmer's cheese?

The family next door in the woods is planning to build a new home  and his parents will live in the existing house.  Because there isn't enough of the required frontage, he needs a variance and all of us neighbors got registered notices mailed to us. Howard is going to the courthouse this afternoon for a meeting addressing that.  We are in accord with him and want to support him.  The Co. board who decides this can be sticklers for compliance with the least little opposition.  Some of the neighbors are concerned about drainage issues, but  in our opinion,
that wouldn't be a problem.

We have shooed 6 bees out of the house in the past two days.  They look like honey bees so we don't want to kill them.  When it was quiet a few evenings ago, I faintly heard the hum of bees that might indicate they're make a a place to winter over somewhere under our siding.
Always something.  After 29 years, we've dealt with racoons, feral cats, wasps, the occasional snake or skunk and many deer which since we don't grow anything are only a delight to us.
Howard HAS, that is...one of the many reasons I'm glad I'm not a man!

Have any of you done locker hooking?  ML brought me the cutest/prettiest hot pad from Branson done in locker hooking.  I barely remembered there was such a thing and have never tried it myself.  Just wondering...

I suppose I'd better go and finish the dishes.  And, find something for lunch.  It's been raining and is much cooler here today.  Actually a welcome change after many days of being in the 80s.
Indy

Way too busy here with I don't know what, but busy.

DH:  We have some extra money in the bank account we need to move to the money market account.

Me:  Quilt Festival is this week.

DH:  (slaps head, pretends to choke) Do we need to take out a loan?

He's so funny!
