Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 AUGUST ~ SAT 15 AUGUST

If the PA, nurses assistant, etc (even folks on the phone making appts) has an accent of any kind or if they are a “soft talker) I immediately ask for someone else….i want to understand what they are saying, after all that’s what I’m going there for.  Usually they comply, but if they don’t I simply get up and leave telling them to get in touch with me when and if they have someone else.  If it’s an issue, I find a different office to go to.
I won’t put up with any of that!

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 AUGUST ~ SAT 15 AUGUST

Trish, I thought that quilt would be 3 times larger, but I'm glad it's not! It looks really nice. I take my second shot tonight.

Sandra, where in the world did you get a whiskey flask, lol?

I lost 2.8 lbs. from last week, but I was still disappointed. I am at 205.8 and can't seem to get to 205. I should have weighed 205 last week! I've only lost .9 lb. since July 22....so frustrating. I can see why people give up, but I'm not giving up, as my goal is not to become a diabetic. I know I don't get enough exercise or walking in and I certainly am not drinking enough water. I'm on a mission to improve both.

I was told to drink 80 oz. of water a day. I don't think that's possible for me to do. The main important thing is to get high protein every day....80 to 120. My doctor said to eat the protein first in case you get full and don't want the sides. This is to keep you from losing muscle.

I got more cortisone shots today in my knees and she is sending me to physical therapy twice a week to strengthen my knees and it will help with balance too.

Linda, I'm glad you are spending some nights with your sister. Is this at her home or in the hospital?

Janet, if I get someone on the phone I can't understand, I just hang up.

Judy, glad you and Howard are ok. It seems most of us have been having bad storms. Yesterday was so bad, I wouldn't leave Gracie to go to the store. She so scared of the thunder. This picture was taken as I left Walmart last night. It looked like the sky was falling down.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 AUGUST ~ SAT 15 AUGUST

I'm back!!!  Our router died so we had no internet, phone or tv.  Didn't mind no tv and it got fixed about 20 minutes before my son called.  I always enjoy hearing from him!

Thanks again for the anniversary wishes.  We did get to Duluth and the park where we got married.  The wind was not off the lake so the water was calm and it was warm.  Yes, I do like woodworking and rocks.  I only picked up 4 small rocks this time.  Since I started dot painting on rocks I get bigger ones and spray paint them black.

Good ones today Sandra!
Trish, good job on that quilt and done so quickly.
Happy to catch up with everyone again.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 AUGUST ~ SAT 15 AUGUST

Holly- I have never had anyone here say they can’t understand me.  Most in this area don’t have accents as they are from the Northeast.  Virginia is not really the south…a mistake we made when we moved here.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 AUGUST ~ SAT 15 AUGUST

DEVONNE that is gorgeous, haven't seen such a pretty pic for a while, really does look like it's falling!! It takes a while to get the first loss on the injections Gary didn't lose very much the first couple weeks, then after a month it fell off!! You need to do exercise if you can, especially weight bearing ones, even doing weights with cans of food, bicep curls and squats and lunges holding the cans, ask your Drs and google some exercises.

Interesting about the water, I googled and 32 oz is just under 1 litre for me, I am supposed to drink 2 litres per day according to my Drs ( both General and kidney )

SANDRA good to hear it went reasonably well, you will not like having the monitor, I find it annoying, it gets in the way, funny about the flask
Good luck for the Bingo!!

STRINGS sounds like she is doing better, I hope you can help her with her hair, always makes you feel better when you can have a hair wash. I loved that after surgery, best feeling ever

I cancelled training today and Saturday, I can take the big Pffaf and do the quilting, then probably will be able to get the binding on and start sewing it down as well, I will have 3 days to do it all, started today (my Thursday) , Julie let me use the big cutting table at her class today to layer it all up, I have a plan for quilting and the binding made too! I want this finished ASAP It will be good if I can get it to Chal on Sunday, but any time before next Wed will be good!

I had a small hiccup yesterday, went to get more fabric for sashing to make the border, there was NONE in store, there was at least 10 metres last Friday when I got it, so it now has a dark border, same as the back, the fabric is expensive, but I had lots of spare batting so joined it up instead of buying new - made it a bit cheaper. The fabric was $31 per metre- yikes!! we spent ages figuring out the cheapest way to back, border and bind it, then Robyn who helped figure it out, cut the pieces separately so I could just join the back bits, without measiuring and cutting myself I think I remember it measures 43" x 67"  -- bigger than I wanted, but still small enough for me to quilt, with not too much wrestling fabric!!

so tomorrow it will be 3 days straight at the LQS - I've already packed the machine, so I could rest from it tonight

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 AUGUST ~ SAT 15 AUGUST

NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH.....
1.  Q.  TROOPER, WAS THE DEFENDANT OBVIOUSLY DRUNK WHEN YOU ARRESTED HER?
DEFENSE COUNSEL...  OBJECTION, YOUR HONOR. IT CALLS FOR A CONCLUSION.
JUDGE...  SUSTAINED.
Q.  TROOPER, WHEN YOU STOPPED THE DEFENDANT WERE YOUR RED AND BLUE LIGHTS FLASHING?
A.  YES, SIR.
Q.  WHAT DID SHE SAY?
A.  "WHAT DISCO AM I AT?"

2.  Q.  YOU SAY THIS WOMAN SHOT HER HUSBAND WITH HIS PISTOL AT CLOSE RANGE?
A.  YES, SIR, THAT'S RIGHT.
Q.  ANY POWDER MARKS ON HIS BODY?
A.  YES, SIR, THAT'S WHY SHE SHOT HIM.

3.  Q. WHEN WAS THE FIRST TIME YOU DROPPED OUT OF CLASS BECAUSE OF FATIQUE OR MEMORY PROBLEMS?
A.  I DON'T RECALL.  I CAN'T REMEMBER.

WE EXPECT T-STORMS LATER TODAY.  RIGHT NOW ITS SUNNY AND 65*F.

TRISH.......NICE JOB ON THAT QUILT.  IT LOOKS LIKE A WINNER.  SHOULD BE LOVED.
AS FOR MY HEART MONITOR, IT ITCHES NOW AND THEN AND I FORGET ITS THERE AND TRY TO SCRATCH IT.

LINDA.....GLAD YOUR SIS IS COMING HOME AND YOU CAN HELP HER OUT.  IT WILL BE A TIME TO CATCH UP AND HELP HER A BIT AS WELL AS GET OUT OF THE HOUSE A DAY OR TWO.

DEVONNE.....HOPE THE SHOTS WORK OUT FOR YOU.
I GOT MY FLASK ONLINE.  I WANTED SOMETHING TO CARRY WATER THAT WAS SMALL AND EASY TO STICK IN A POCKET.  THIS WORKS FOR ME.  ITS SLIM AND SLIDES INTO A POCKET JUST FINE AND I DO NOT HAVE TO CARRY AROUND A THERMOS.
LOVE THAT PHOTO YOU TOOK.  GREAT COLORS.

PATTY.......GOOD FOR YOU GETTING A NEW ROUTER.  THEY CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE.  WHEN I GOT MINE, I HAD TO GET USED TO A FEW CHANGES, MAINLY MY WIFI INTERNET, BUT I LOVE HAVING THE UPDATE.

TODAY IS FREE PRODUCE DAY AT THE FIRE STATION THIS MORNING.  I WONDER IF THERE WILL BE ANYTHING DIFFERENT.
I HAVE TRASH TO TAKE OUT FOR ME AND A COUPLE OTHER GALS.  I WANT TO GET IT OUT BEFORE THE RAIN STARTS.
I MAY ALSO DO A LOAD OF LAUNDRY TODAY.
ITS CRAFT MORNING BUT MOST OF THE MORNING WILL BE SPENT AT THE FARMERS MARKET SO I WON'T WORRY ABOUT TAKING A PROJECT.  I CAN JUST CHAT THIS WEEK.

WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 AUGUST ~ SAT 15 AUGUST

Trish, it's not too big to use as a wallhanging if they have the right spot for it, or put in over a sofa back. The first four weeks of Wegovy is a low dosage just to get your body used to the medicine. I gave it in the arm last night and I didn't even feel it.

Patty, my grandson, Carter, is an avid rock collector. He and his Mom go to North Carolina (Murphy or Franklin area) to go rock digging. I have a bag of rocks he has given me, lol. I don't know what they are called, but many of them have sapphire and ruby in them. If you ever go to the Smokies, you can get a lot of smooth river rocks along the river.

Janet/Holly, the people I can't understand (on the phone mostly) are not from the United States. I haven't had this problem at a doctor's office.

Greg and Carter went to Asheville, NC last weekend to get their new Bengal cat. I don't know if you remember, but Kenai has been gone 9 months. I think this may be the prettiest one, even though Tiki is beautiful. Tiki is the most loving cat I have ever seen. He was like that from day one. Kenai was never like that. When he told me how much, I gasped, lol....$2,500 and all of her babies have been spoken for. She has another litter that will be ready in a month. He has been fixed and had all of his shots. He's lighter than Kenai and Tiki. Kenai had more orange and Tiki is more dark brown.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 AUGUST ~ SAT 15 AUGUST

No more 8 pm sunsets. The days are getting shorter. We have one of those birdfeeders with the solar powered camera, and it had over 100 visitors today! It sends a picture of every bird to the app, and there are some beautiful ones.

We had stuffed shell leftovers for dinner, just as good heated up. What did we do before microwaves!

I’m watching 1923, a Yellowstone prequel, on Paramount plus. We immigrates were so awful to the First Nations people, just horrible. Stole their children and sent them to ‘Indian schools’ to be abused by the clergy. We still treat them terribly. Taylor Sheridan writes a great screenplay.

I had an Amazon order due yesterday, got an update that it would come Saturday, and it came today. Sigh.

Devonne, that cat comes under the heading of if he can afford it and it makes him happy, go for it.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 AUGUST ~ SAT 15 AUGUST

JUST FOR THE HEALTH OF IT......
1.  THE LEFT LEG BECAME NUMB AT TIMES AND SHE WALKED IT OFF.
2.  BY THE TIME HE WAS ADMITTED, HIS RAPID HEART HAD STOPPED, AND HE WAS FEELING BETTER.
3.  PATIENT HAS CHEST PAIN IF SHE LIES ON HER LEFT SIDE FOR OVER A YEAR.
4.  PRIOR TO THE PATIENT'S BIRTH SHE WAS INFORMED AT ALL TIMES THAT HER PREGNANCY WAS A NORMAL ONE.
5.  THE PATTIENT STATES THERE IS A BURNING PAIN IN HIS PENIS WHICH GOES TO HIS FEET.

WE NEVER GOT THAT PROMISED RAIN YESTERDAY AND ITS SUNNY TODAY.

HOLLY........HOW NICE YOU GET TO SEE PHOTOS OF ALL THE PRETTY BIRDS THAT VISIT YOUR FEEDER.  IF I HAD A FEEDER, I'D BE SURE TO GET MYSELF ONE OF THOSE.

I HAVE A NEW RECIPE FOR STUFFED SHELLS THAT I WANT TO TRY SOON.  THEY ARE STUFFED WITH CHICKEN AND STUFFING SO A BIT DIFFERENT.
YESTERDAY I HAD MEATY SAUCE SHELLS WHICH I LIKE SINCE THE MEAT FILLS IN THOSE SHELL CAVITIES.  MY SHELLS, THO, WERE NORMAL SIZED.

DEVONNE.....LOVE THOSE KITTY PICTURES.  POST ONE OF THE NEW KITTY FROM THE SIDE.  I LOVE SEEING THE SPOTTED PATTERNS THAT THESE CATS WEAR.
MY DARLING SHEENA WAS AN OCICAT WHICH ALSO WEARS SPOTS.  SHE WAS THE GENTLEST DARLING OF A CAT AND VERY LOVABLE BUT NOT AS LARGE AS A BENGAL.  LIKE A DOG, SHE WOULD FOLLOW ME AND COME WHEN I CALLED.  SLEPT WITH ME EVERY NIGHT.  HAD TO TOUCH MY BODY EITHER ALONG A LEG OR AN ARM OR ON MY TUMMY.  I STILL MISS HER.

ITS OUR PIZZA PARTY TONITE.  WE FIGURED OUT WHAT TYPES OF PIZZA TO ORDER FOR THOSE THAT ARE MEAT OR VEGGIE PERSONS.  THERE WILL BE A VARIETY FROM WHICH TO CHOOSE.  HOPEFULLY EVERY PERSON WILL GET 2 SLICES, MAYBE 3.  IN ANY CASE, WE ARE GOING TO DIVIDE THE LEFTOVERS TO ALL TAKE SOME HOME.
I WENT TO THE LOCAL FARMER'S MKT AGAIN YESTERDAY.  BROUGHT HOME A ZUKE, LARGE CUKE, 2 GRANNY SMITH APPLES, SOME CARROTS, GREEN BEANS, AND 2 SWEET PEPPERS, A GREEN AND A PURPLE.  ALSO A SMALL LOAF OF FRESH ITALIAN BREAD AND 2 CHOCOLATE MUFFINS.  FOR BOOKS I TOOK 5, 2 OF WHICH ARE JAN KARON BOOKS.  ITS BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE I READ HER BOOKS.  I HAVE A COUPLE I KEPT BUT NOT THESE SO WILL REREAD THEM AND KEEP THEM FOREVER.
RIGHT NOW I AM READING JOANNE FLUKE'S CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE MURDER WITH HANNAH SWENSON.  I LIKE HER BOOKS AND I THINK I'VE SEEN ALL THE MOVIES MADE BY HALLMARK TO DATE.
WELL, I AM OFF TO WALK MY LAPS.  HAVE A GOOD DAY MY FRIENDS.  STAY SAFE.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 AUGUST ~ SAT 15 AUGUST

Holly, you are so right! Greg and Carter love their bengals. His name is Kudzu. I don't like the name, but I never said that, lol. He has to keep him in a room for days before he gets to roam the house. He has been able to gently pet him.

I have two windows in my main living area and I ordered two pairs of natural linen semi sheers from Amazon. They sent me one pair and said I could order the extra pair from another seller. What if they don't match? I'm returning it and will order again.

I've had some heartburn from Wegovy, but I read that is normal. It hasn't been bad heartburn and one tum fixed it. Emily is taking a shot now. I think she may be on Mounjaro.

Here's the chair I got at Goodwill. At first I didn't like the green, but I'm changing my living room decor to green, so it works out great. The label on the bottom says it was made in 2005 by the Best Chair Company in Indiana. I read they are still in business under the name Best Home Furnishings. Its very comfortable and has beautiful carvings. No damage anywhere.

Holly, I was watching 1923 but quit (no particular reason). l have to check and see if I can still get it. I want one of those bird feeders with the camera. I saw them at Walmart for $99. Maybe I can get one after we get back from the cruise.

Sandra, enjoy your pizza tonight. I'll post a side picture of Kudzu whenever Greg can get more pictures.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 AUGUST ~ SAT 15 AUGUST

Devonne, I paid less than that on Amazon, I think less than 50.
Sandra, I get the frozen stuffed shells from Sam’s Club, 24 or so in a bag. I make 6 or 8 at a time, so we get 2 meals.

Tonight is smash burgers on the George Forman grill and probably fries and corn. Tomorrow the local pizza parlor has panzarotti’s for $5, so that’s on the menu.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 9 AUGUST ~ SAT 15 AUGUST

Drs offices around here haven’t taken cash since Covid.

Yesterday we went to a new quilt shop and they don’t take credit cards.  But you don’t find that out until you go to pay.  Duh. I paid for my friend’s fabric as she did not have cash nor a check.

Another expensive week here… pool pump, irrigation repairs and parts, and generator repair and part.

Board footera
