Hi all First
Happy belated birthday JANET, I am so sorry I missed it. Hope it was a good day ((((hugs)))

I was thrown a curve ball during the week, Chalon and Chloe asked me to make a throw quilt for Mike's mum using his t-shirts - yikes!!! Yes was the answer of course - she said by the end of the month for MIL/Grandma's 80th birthday - which is 23rd - so not quite the end of the month, I was thinking I had quilt camp to complete it. I have never done that fabric before, so have spent days organising it all. My head is spinning!! Most of the shirts have that plastic/rubbery motifs, all different sizes of course, and then had to figure out what to use to sew them together.

I have made a good start, just waiting on the last shirt - they dropped it in just now - I thought it had a big motif - it doesn't, so back to playing with numbers.
I was hoping that Julie might be able to quilt it, but looks like I will have to.

HOLLY you asked about the weather, it doesn't affect us really, we are not that close, they are further south. Our weather has been unpredictable, some days quite warm, but still very cold at night, and the coldest it's been all winter in the early morning !! And today it's been raining.

SANDRA sorry about the loss at bingo, but WOW what a great idea for the produce for seniors, really helps you all.

I have read but can't remember all I wanted to say, it's almost time for bed, and I want to try to play with these pieces a bit more.

I COULD SEE TAKING ONE OR 2 FOR A LUNCH OR MEAL, WHICH WAS THE PURPOSE OF LEAVING THEM FOR US, BUT THE WHOLE THING? GREEDY FOR SURE.
YESTERDAY I PUT AN INDEX CARD ON EACH ICE CREAM CONTAINER DO NOT TOUCH THIS ICE CREAM. WE SHALL SEE IF ITS STILL THERE THIS AFTERNOON.
I WILL BE BRINGING MY ICE CREAM SCOOP, CUP FOR HOT WATER TO WARM THE SCOOP, AND BANANAS FOR THOSE THAT WANT SOME ON THEIR ICE CREAM.
OTHER THAN THAT MY DAY WILL BE QUIET. MY SON SHOPPED YESTERDAY AND GOT EVERYTHING I WANTED. HE TRIED THE NEW PUFF PASTRY BUNDIES AND LOVED THEM. HOORAY, AN EASIER WAY TO MAKE THEM SO I WILL MAKE THEM MORE OFTEN. THEY ARE MORE EXPENSIVE, BUT SO MUCH SIMPLER TO MAKE. AND I AGREE, THEY WERE VERY GOOD. AND THE PUFF PASTRY HOLDS THE DOUGH TOGETHER SO WELL YOU CAN EAT THEM AS HAND PIES. MMMM GOOD.

Sandra, until a camera can be placed, put a big note on the fridge door that says “Smile! You are on camera!” And see if that helps.

Linda, glad you get to visit with your Sis. When will she be able to go home?

Trish, that is a huge project needing to be finished so soon! Do you have someone that can help you cut and sew?

I ordered a pouf! I've always wanted one. The genuine leather ones are so expensive. I got the faux leather for 1/3 the price. If you get them already stuffed, they are way more expensive. I got the unstuffed.

One of my Lazyboy chairs is going to the curb to be hauled away. It's only 5 years old and the wood underneath it broke in several places. I was so surprised when I saw the damage and it was particle board! I bought 2 of these chairs when I moved here. They were $984 each (I think I got taken, lol) but I loved the fabric.

I found a replacement chair at Goodwill. I just love it! It looks Victorian, has beautiful curved wood and looks like it belonged in a southern plantation. I think it's French provincial, but I'm not sure. I'll post pictures later this week.

I had to laugh when I was going thru all the "family" pictures. I thought they were the grandkids, but they are all me and DH, lol. I will make a gallery wall in a bedroom I plan on making my paint/art room one day.

Today is a rest/movie day. I did one load of laundry and that's it.

I ONLY HAD A SMALL PORTION, BUT OTHERS HAD 2 HELPINGS AND 1 GAL HAD 3. IT WAS A FUN AND TASTY TIME. WE HAVE MORE FOR ANOTHER DAY THIS WEEK.
AS TO THE SIGN ABOUT A CAMERA, THAT MAY BE UP AND RUNNING SOON. MGMT WAS NOT PLEASED THEIR FRUITS WERE TAKEN BEFORE THEIR BAR-B-Q SO THEY THOUGHT THEY WOULD GET THEIR SECURITY CAMERA UP AND RUNNING. WE HAVE ONE IN OUR COMMON ROOM CEILING ALREADY BUT IT WASN'T WORKING YET.
I AM WORKING ON THE NEW 500 PIECE PUZZLE BUT ITS FRUSTRATING. THE PIECES ARE WOODEN AND LOOK LOVELY, BUT TAKE SOME JIGGLING TO GET THE PIECES TO FIT PROPERLY. I MAY GIVE IT UP AND FIND ANOTHER.
BEING MONDAY I AM BACK TO MONTHLY AND WEEKLY CHORES AGAIN. IT SURE MAKES THE WEEKENDS SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO THESE DAYS.

It's raining and storming here. We've had a lot of thunder and bad lightning the past few weeks.

Today is the first time I have opened a window since I moved here in 2020. I decided not to be afraid of spiders getting in, as the screens are very tight. It feels so nice! I put the a/c on 80.

I could only open a few windows at my last house. We let the builder talk us into going with wood windows. Wood absorbs moisture which makes wood expand. When the wood expands, you can imagine how much it tightens the frame. They were a "pane" to open and close, lol.

I just finished a very late lunch--2 cheese sticks and half an apple. I always like to eat lunch with you-all.

Patty, as a rule, we don't go out on the weekends either and for the same reason. One of the perks of retirement.   I ditto the rock picking. IF I'm near a lake shore my nose is always pointed at the ground. Been a rock hound all my life. As Howard likes to tell people, he hauled my rock collection to Texas when we moved there and then back here! I have a few wicker "dishes" sitting around with my fondest treasures. Likewise, I love "rock" jewelry-- turquoise, my birthstone and jasper, petrified wood, agate, etc. I know you love wood and woodworking. Sounds like rocks, too.
QB, you've hit the jackpot with the jokes. So funny and often delightfully true! Odd about the food thief? Your place isn't so large that it wouldn't be easy enough to catch that person...
Interesting that when management gets ripped off, something gets done! You need a rubber mallet to tap the puzzle pieces in place! I'll bet you have one somewhere in your stash of things???
I notice there are lots of recipes using puff pastry, now. Most that I've seen are for desserts. I'm a total failure with pie crust so they are appealing. I've only used one piece at Christmass for something?? The other sat in the frig for weeks and when I finally check it, it was gray with mold! Wasteful, I know. But, I do want to give it another try and take the crust 'equation' away!
So glad it worked out for you with the bundies. That's a real coup.

I've needed some sort of table or small piece to organize my hand sewing stuff--something portable too, if possible. Found it! After two tries. First, I tried a metal plant stand, really an outdoor piece that is quite rusty but I would have spray painted it. (I somewhat like the rusty look, but this was long past any beauty and it just wasn't right.) Next, I tried an odd little wood occasional table I bought yrs. ago at a yard sale. Always kept it, but in the basement as I couldn't find a spot for it. I've spent most of the day gathering my sewing stuff and some small wicker baskets, etc. and I'm quite pleased with it. Can be whisked away when the group is coming but looks okay sitting by my recliner. AND, I figured out I can toss a small quilt over it, of which I have many, to make it look neat when I'm not sewing. I can't believe how many spools of thread I have. Many different sizes and many neutrals which seem to be my go to choices. I have been doing some slow stitching the past few days to try to help me calm down a bit and it truly does work. So I'm happy....enough!

Devonne, your chair sounds lovely. So glad you found it. And you surely don't expect junk from Lazy Boy, do you? Does your little one like her new bed?

Linda, I'm glad to hear that you've been able to see your sister and even help her out. When the chips are down, your family does come to your rescue. Who's younger, you or your sis? Just wondering...

Trish, bless you! If someone asked me to drop everything and do that, I'd freak out.  But then, these girls are your family and you're a peach. One thing I always wonder about t-shirt quilts...even with the plastic/rubbery motifs, ours, after years of wearing, aren't fit for reuse. Maybe we just wear ours too long? I hope it all goes well. It is truly a labor of love.

It's hot, humid here today. Again, last night, we had some terrific thunderstorms and a tornado warning. We've never had a summer like this that I can remember. It's very scary.

We’re having a thunderstorm right now. Really dark out.

When Joe died, Ali asked me about a tee shirt quilt. I bought a book, read it, and told her it was out of my skill level.

We had frozen rigatoni with sausage and garlic bread for dinner, came out well. I just filled out the paperwork for my minimum yearly distribution on my tax sheltered annuity, that’s how old I am!

Happy belated anniversary greetings, Patty. Sounds like you have a wonderful, meaningful trip planned. I am not a beach or lake person and certainly not a rock hound. I don't know one rock from another. Kelli (Supermom) loved going to the beach, but not for the ocean. She always looked for pretty shells or beach glass.

It has been hot and humid here too, with lots of lightening and thunder. Yesterday afternoon we had nickel sized hail come down before the heavy rain. The storm passed quickly, but it got so dark at 2:00 p.m. that our outside lamps came on. It got light again after a few minutes, but it was a weird thing.

Trish, I agree with Judy; you are a peach for making such a quilt on such short notice. Good luck!! I do think t shirt quilts are so memorable. Our HGTV gal friend from upper New York used to post them all the time. Forgive me, I cannot remember her name now.   I think she has a shop from which she sells her items.

Holly, my nephrologist wants me to do 64 ounces of water a day. I did see her today and she said all my numbers look great and to just continue with what I am doing. (Drinking water and cut my blood pressure pill in half.)

Devonne, your new chair sounds lovely; cannot wait to see the picture. I used to check out Goodwill often, but now I think their prices are way too high. I will buy new and not pay too high for used. I also used to shop at the local thrift store and now their prices are too high. I still donate to them, but rarely shop there. I looked the other day for some men's plaid shirt to supplement my reproductions, but did not find any 100 percent cotton. Most everything is a T shirt or polyester or nylon these days. The last time I made a Civil War quilt I used lots of the men's plaid shirting materials.

We had Burger King for supper tonight. We have not eaten out for a long time, but Dean wanted a takeout burger. Oh, it was not good. The fries were thrown away because they were hard as a rock. The burgers were ok, but Dean could not have lettuce, tomatoes, onions, on his, so he had mustard.    Well, at least I did not have to cook and we have no supper dishes.

Sandra, good luck with the food thief. That is always so sad to me. We were told that when Dean goes to the specialized leukemia unit, there is a refrigerator that he can use. "Just put your name on the containers. BUT be aware that things do disappear sometimes." Great.

EVENING!

TODAY'S VISIT WAS VERY SHORT. BOTH SIS AND I MIFFED OVER THAT. DID GET HER LAUNDRY DONE EXCEPT FOR A PAIR OF SOCKS. SHE GOT HER STAPLES OUT THIS MORNING. IF NOTHING HAPPENS, SHE CAN GO HOME SATURDAY. TOOK HER SOME CAKE TOOK A WHILE TO DO. HER FAVORITE.

I AM 8 YEARS OLDER THAN MY SIS. OUR YOUNGEST SISTER PADDED WHEN SHE WAS 30. I WAS 12 YEARS OLDER THAN HER AND 4 YEARS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM. Bet THAT WAS CLEAR AS MUD. ANYWAY, WE TRY TO HELP OUT AS BEST WE CAN.

Downloaded the t-shirt quilt pic, ran out of bobbin, so having a break till I do the last seam, then have to put final borders on! Still need to press the other seams, it's been interesting

STRINGS Sounds like she is doing better, I am glad you have been able to visit with her, will she have help at home??

SANDRA (weird, this just posted, so now adding to it ) that was so awful to have the food taken, I hope they find out who did it, horrible to think you have somene in the building who is stealing - especially when many of you are so generous.

HOLLY the quilt has been interesting, it's not really that hard, just took time figuring out the pattern. I would have liked more time, I had to get the stabiliser done first, and the hardest bit was cutting out all the motifs, and deciding where to put them - lots of paper drawings and maths

INDY you know I couldn't let them down they are my family, we did have a bit of a giggle when Chal came over with Chloe, (she and John are only 2 mnths apart ) she said Nan would have the feather duster out - meaning for her grandparents (and her dad sadly ) I had told them I made chowder (it's a veg one with bacon ) Chal wanted to know was it the same as her mum's - it's definately not, they very warily tried a small taste, prounced it delicious and took a container home -- we had a few laughs that it was NOTHING like Dianne's, hers had tripe in it

DEVONNE have you started the injections yet?? I have so many photos I sorted a lot of them into albums on the computer, and also marked "favourites" , we have 1000s of them with scenery (the Mr's speciality LOL ) and he has no idea where or when they are taken

JANET is it almost time to close up the pool - it's not to far off winter for you now!

PATTY sorry did I miss your aniversary as well HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

CHERYL not very long now, I also have to drink lots of water, I really hate doing it in winter, I tried Holly's idea of warm, like tea, but didn't like it, kept adding a herb tea bag, then got sick of that. Best way for me, is sliced lemon or cucumber. I have tried to be economical and reuse them, but they are awful the next day. Sending best wishes to both of you (((hugs)))

Time to refill that bobbn, I need to get more fabric tmorrow, thn sandwich this thing and quilt it.

Trish- DH puts slices of fresh ginger into his green tea. He’s likes it. I don’t drink tea nor fruit juice (except pomegranate, sometimes).
The T-shirt quilt looks good! I made one for my son…the long armed charged extra.
No pictures of it .
When I was teaching food was frequently taken from the teachers room fridge. Everyone blamed the poor custodians, turned out it was the principal and his secretary. Ha, never liked the guy.
Pool season here isn’t over for a while. In fact DH is installing a new pump today. The other one seized up a few days ago. We general close the pool in early October. This has been a good pool summer with temps around 90*. It’s also been expensive…new control panel, new pump and extra chemicals due to high temps and full sun. I hate the winter so much I don’t complain about the heat and humidity of summer.
It’s been a lousy few days. I’ve about had it with the new sewing machine I bought 2 years ago but never used until a few weeks ago when my faithful Pfaff quit. I also have a new Bernina, don’t know why I bought it….a year ago and haven’t touched it either…brings my total to 12 minus the dead one. I’m looking at a BabyLock for retreats but I’m so fed up with it all that I may just give up this hobby. 😞😡

OMMA,(KATHY) DID SOME FOR CUSTOMERS. THINK HER BUSINESS IS CALLED "STITCHING LADY".

NOT SURE SHE WILL NEED SOMEONE TO STAY WITH HER 24/7. SHE WON'T BE ABLE TO DRIVE, LIFT MORE THAN 5 LB., AND GO UP AND DOWN STEPS. SO WILL AT LEAST NEED SOME ASSTANCE FOR A LITTLE WHILE.

Trish, not me with the warm water, I like lots of ice in my water.

I just put in a Walmart grocery order for this afternoon. So convenient!

Dinner will be a couple kinds of leftovers that need to be finished up.

Tomorrow is the birthdays for son in law Ben and grandson Garrett. G will be 11, hard to believe.

Sandra, how nice that you cook for your son and daughter! It sounds like it’s really appreciated.

Neighbor Dave was just over, he baked banana bread and brought us a loaf.

Cheryl, that’s a good amount of water! I have a 16 ounce glass with lunch, dinner, and at night, plus my 20 ounce insulated mug of mixed iced tea and ginger ale which I sip all day.

We had huge storm this morning. Headed for the basement about 11am. When it was over and we could hear nothing down there, we discovered quite a lot of trees down but most thankfully none came down on our house. We lost our only back yard tree, a black locust that we nurtured as a young tree when we moved here almost 30 yrs. ago. They're considered a trash tree, not a maple or oak or better tree but still, it gave some shade. Along the woods in the front and side yard, there are many smaller trees and much foliage on the ground. The driveway has a few smaller branches and one larger one which Howard is slowly, with rest periods, trying to clear. Andrew on our west will come and help him as soon as as he can get down his much longer driveway. He said he has trees down on his detached garage and his house. (we can't see over there due to the woods). It's a mess but we are so thankful no one, us or on either side was injured. This is the 3rd huge storm we've had this summer, locally. The last one was just a week and a day ago. My son, Danny, called to say he would come up here and help, today, as he was excused from work because of no power. I asked if instead he might come another day to help clean up as I don't know if Howard can do it all. Bill will come, too, at that time. It's all sobering...

Neighbor Andrew just left and Howard is in house, worn out. I would like to go out for a burger for supper, but wonder if there's power anywhere?

ACCORDING TO THE COURT STENOGRAPHER, HERE'S A FEW GAFFS TO ENJOY........
1. YOU WERE THERE UNTIL THE TIME YOU LEFT, IS THAT TRUE?
2. SO, BESIDES YOUR WIFE AND CHILDREN, DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER ANIMALS OR PETS?
3. NOW YOU HAVE INVESTIGATED OTHER MURDERS, HAVE YOU NOT, WHERE THERE HAS BEEN A VICTIM?
4. WAS THAT THE SAME NOSE YOU BROKE AS A CHILD?
5. IN YOUR OPINION, HOW FAR APART WERE THESE VEHICLES AT THE EXACT TIME OF COLLISION?

ANOTHER BRITE AND SUNNY DAY. LOW 80S TODAY AND 60S TONITE BUT THUNDERSTORMS STILL EXPECTED TOMORROW, WE SURE SURE COULD USE A GOOD DRENCHING.

JUDY......SORRY ABOUT THE STORMS YOU ARE GETTING. THEY SURE MUST BE SCARY AT THE BEST OF TIMES. I AM GLAD NO ONE IN YOUR FAMILY WAS HURT. STAY SAFE.

I CAME HOME FROM DR WITH A HEART MONITOR. SINCE I STOPPED TAKING MY CARVEDILOL MY HEART RATE HAS RISEN FROM NORMAL 80S TO 90S SO HE JUST WANTS TO CHECK FURTHER TO SEE WHAT'S GOING ON. HE WON'T DO A PACE MAKER UNLESS ITS NECESSARY. HE DOES NOT BELIEVE IN UNNECESSARY SURGERY OF ANY KIND.
THE WORST PART WAS THE NURSE AND STUDENT NURSE WHO SET IT UP. THEY BOTH HAD ACCENTS EITHER FROM JAMAICA OR AFRICA, WHO KNOWS. I COULD NOT UNDERSTAND EITHER ONE WELL. MY GRDAU CAME IN WITH ME BUT SHE MISSED A BIT HERE AND THERE, TOO. I READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AT HOME SO I THINK I KNOW HOW IT WORKS AND ABOUT THE RECHARGING BATTERY AND REPLACING STRIPS IF NEEDED. THERE IS ALSO AN ACTIVITY CHART I NEED TO FILL IN FOR SOME NORMAL THINGS I DO BUT ALSO FOR ANYTHING UNUSUAL OR WORRYING. I WILL BE REMOVING IT ON THE 25TH AND GRDAU G WILL TAKE IT TO UPS TO SHIP OUT. THEN I'LL SEE MY CARDIO FELLOW ON SEPT 14TH AGAIN TO DISCUSS THE RESULTS.
JUST SO YOU KNOW, I AM NOT WORRIED ABOUT HAVING TO GET A PACE MAKER. SO MANY FOLKS HAVE THEM THESE DAYS AND TRULY, IT SEEMS TO BE BETTER THAN UNUSUAL HEART BEATS AND SKIPS THAT CAN BE WORRYING. WE SHALL SEE.
A FUNNY STORY ABOUT MY DR VISIT. BEFORE SEEING MY DR A YOUNG NURSE, AGAIN FROM JAMAICA OR AFRICA, MALE THIS TIME, TOOK MY VITALS AND ASKED THE QUESTIONS ABOUT WHETHER I SMOKED OR DRANK. TOLD HIM "NO." THEN WHILE REMOVING THE HEART LEADS HE SPOTTED MY WHISKEY FLASK IN MY SHIRT POCKET. HE POINTED TO IT WITH A QUESTIONABLE LOOK. GRDAU LAUGHED. HE THOUGHT I HAD WHISKEY IN IT I GUESS. OF COURSE, I USE IT FOR WATER ONLY. ITS SLIM AND FITS NEATLY IN MY SHIRT POCKET WHEN I GO OUT. HE SEEMED RELIEVED WHEN I EXPLAINED AND HE SMILED. THE FIRST SMILE I SAW FROM HIM.
GRDAU CAME OVER EARLIER THAN EXPECTED AND SHARED LUNCH WITH ME. SHE HAD AN ITALIAN SANDWICH WHILE I HAD A CHICKEN SANDY. THEN LATER SHE TOOK HOME THE SOUP AND THE PUFF BUNDIES ALONG WITH SOME GARDEN FRESH TOMATOES I STILL HAD.
WE HAVE BINGO TONITE AND I WILL CROSS MY FINGERS FOR A WIN THIS WEEK.
I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR PIZZA PARTY FRIDAY NITE. MMMM GOOD. THE LOCAL MAKES A GREAT PIZZA AND BREAD STICKS.
