Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

Can you believe it?? July already, the countdown is on to Christmas LOL

SANDRA absolutely no apology needed, I use the wrong names many times . You are usually right!! I thought you might have Matt shopping, but he isn't this week?? I know you look forward to seeing him, but had the visit with others anyway. Do many go away for the summer, I think I would rather stay in your apartment, sounds like it's mostly cooler there!

CHERYL it happens like that, the time being taken up with appointments, great idea to stay over, far less stress, and maybe will feel like a mini holiday! Good luck on your travels!

HOLLY hope all went well today, thinking of you!

JANET I have done that so many times, I now have a small espresso cup I keep under the spout. I move it if I am filling a mug, but mostly use it to get my espresso shot and add it to my protein drink, I have also forgotten to put the pod in OR put it in, then forgotten and ejected it and put in a new one, I see it when I empty the container, no little holes in it LOL

DEVONNE I love your painting, I do like them both, but I think I prefer the one on top. I know you added to it, it just goes better in my house as the first one LOL so I'm going by that. Your blouses being put into colours are a great idea, they look good and you will not need clothes for a while! I do need more winter type things, I just tend to be in jeans and my Kathmandu tops for winter, with some nice sweaters  for going out.

I did spill coffee on my white jeans on Friday with the girls, I've washed them twice now, and the stain is not too bad, I can still see it faint, hopefully another wash will remove it completely.
Pete said to me before I went out, don't have pasta with sauce for lunch in case you spill some on the white, he jinxed me!!

It's been cold today again, we had risotto for dinner in the new multi cooker, it was pretty good, before dinner W took me to the local mall, we have an App called "To Good To Go", mostly bakeries, and our local one of Bakers Delight has a package, you can get a mystery bag for $10, I got lots - including a large sliced fruit loaf, and  6 ham and cheese rolls (cheese baked on top) and  plain scones, more rolls and it's all worth about $25, not really worth the drive to the mall, but if it comes up at our local, I may get again, we added some ham/cheese rolls to our dinner and froze the rest. So an easy peasy dinner tonight.!!  I've bagged and frozen the rest, we sure don't need that amount of food laying about, I'll get some cream tomorrow for the scones, and the Mr can have a couple for afternoon tea tomorrow LOL (he's already volunteered to go to the shop to get cream now!!!)

I usually freeze our bread when I buy it, I can fit 4 slices into a sandwich bag and we can just remove what we want. I got so sick of tossing bread out after a few days. I toast mine from frozen anyway, my english muffins go straight to the freezer  - then only 20 seconds in the microwave, split and toast!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

IT'S TRUE......
1.  I'M NOT OLD, I JUST NEED A LITTLE WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE.
2.  THE DAY I CAN YELL, "WHERE'S MY PHONE?" AND IT YELLS BACK, "DOWN HERE IN THE COUCH!" THEN IT WILL REALLY BE A SMARTPHONE.

WE ARE HAVING SUCH FINE WEATHER, THE VACATIONERS MUST BE THRILLED.  I'M LOVING IT, TOO.

TRISH.......MY SON SHOPPED FOR ME ON THE 20TH AND NEXT TIME WILL BE JULY 11TH.  HE'S GOING TO GO TO FORT LAUDERDALE FOR HIS VACATION IN BETWEEN.

I ORDERED 6 COZY MYSTERIES FROM THRIFTBOOKS WITH ONE BEING FREE.  I WILL HAVE SEVERAL AT THE READY WHEN I GET THRU WITH MY LATEST.  AND THERE'S THE ONES MY DAU BROUGHT ME, TOO, SO I WILL HAVE A SUPPLY.
IT'S MY DAY OF REST, SO AN EASY ONE TODAY USUALLY, BUT I HAVE BEEN GOING THRU MY SHORTS PRETTY FAST SO A LOAD OF LAUNDRY NEEDS DOING TODAY.  OTHER THAN THAT, I WILL BE MOSTLY READING TODAY.
YESTERDAY I MADE PEPPER STEAK FOR SUPPER SUBS AND HAVE ENUF FOR TODAY AS WELL.
I ALSO DID SOME SEWING.  I GOT SOME ECHO QUILTING DONE AND IF I GO TO THE COMMON ROOM FOR CHAT THIS AFTERNOON, I CAN BRING A VICTORIAN LADY, NOT JUST ANY LADY, HA HA,  OR 2 FOR HANDSEWING SEAM BINDINGS.
AS TO OUR LADIES AND VACATIONS, YES MANY ARE OFF TO FAMILY OUTINGS AND CAMPS WHERE THEY CAN SWIM AND BARBQUE AND ENJOY THEIR TIME.  THEY HAVE MORE ENERGY THAN I HAVE.
THAT'S ABOUT IT FROM ME TODAY.  YES, THE MONTH IS WINDING DOWN AND IT FLIES BY SO QUICKLY, IT AMAZES ME THESE DAYS.
STAY SAFE.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

The funeral was lovely. The pastor spoke, then her sister had us in tears with her eulogy, talking about Morgan being her baby sister and best friend. Then John sang you are my sunshine, and we all sobbed. The funeral person released a white dove, which was actually a homing pigeon. It was all very moving.

John doesn’t bear weight, so they had him in a gator, which is like a souped up golf cart. He and I both cried, of course. The morning was draining.

after the luncheon and visiting with people we came back her to relax. After dinner we had a thunderstorm and we got torrential rain over 5 inches in about 2 hours!

This morning my girls went to the spa, and my brother and Donna headed home. My nephews left last night, and are almost home. We all leave tomorrow.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

We are under a heat advisory...93 today. Gracie won't stay out long!

I have a dr.'s appt. at the breast center in the morning at 9:45 am. All he does is check my lymph nodes to make sure they aren't swollen. I hope next year will be just a once a year visit. Then I head over to the next street to see my oncologist to discuss the side effects of the Tamoxifen (tender stomach and itchy skin rash.) I can't go on another medication because they cause bone loss and I have osteoporosis. Will be an interesting visit! Wednesday I see my orthopedist (NP really, lol) about my knees. Another interesting visit when I tell her the gel shots and the last cortisone shots did nothing. My knees were worse, lol!  First time for 3 visits in one week. Then I will head to Belk, might try Whataburger in the same shopping center. There's a Target store there, but I shop Walmart. DH and I used to get their popcorn and a drink, but the refreshment center has been gone for years.

Holly, what a lovely service and I especially like the releasing of the dove (homing pigeon). Have a safe trip back home. Did you get to walk on the beach?

I have BJ on my mind. I hope Tracy will check in soon and let us know how everyone is doing, esp. Frank. Is he able to live alone now?

My laundry is all done except one load in the washer. I will relax the rest of the day, maybe read some and watch TV. I got an order from Amazon. It's the only place I can find the BodyArmor Zero Sugar watermelon strawberry. I also got the Cherry Berry Lemonade Zero Sugar to try. Gary said don't get the Fruit Punch.

Trish, I wish I had left the sailboats alone and just added more birds and the moon. I'm learning by mistakes, lol. I might go back and tone down the white. I have never frozen bread. Yesterday I was toasting bread and it was molded! I need to start freezing it when I clear out some room! Is it not soggy after it's defrosted?

My hydrangeas are blooming and my purple crape myrtle is just beautiful. I just wish it would stay blooming longer than it does.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

Devonne, no beach this trip. I shrunk out of my bathing suit, and haven’t bought another, so no pool. everyone else except Ralph has been in the pool a lot. I sat poolside one night with them, after the sun went down and it was cooler.

Jersey is under a heat advisory the end of the week, it’s going to be 100! Yikes! We leave for home tomorrow morning, and Steph and Manda and kids fly out. Even tho it was a sad occasion, it’s been great to be together.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

Devonne - while reading your post about all your appts, I was reminded of someone saying when you get old and are no longer working you will will lots of time to travel…what they meant was that you will be traveling to drs appts.
   Check your PMs.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

HOLLY I still think of beaches as the ocean, I guess being surrounded by them as we are it's hard not to LOL
If it's rivers lakes we don't usually refer to them as beaches. I was wondering when you asked did Georgia have beaches, I thought - "it can't, it's land locked" LOL

JANET got your PM, thank you! I hope it's not as hot  as Holly where you are!

SANDRA are you ok for food, that is a long while between visits, I know you  are always well prepared though.

DEVONNE that is a shame you can't have other meds, hope he can help with symptoms for you, can you take anything for the osteoporosis??

I have a fried brain tonight, we got new iPhones, took soo long to get them switched over! Especially mine, for some reason my e-sim didn't want to play nice, and the girl didn't know what to do, I was beginning to panic, I was ready to just start a new plan with the company, she got it in the end, we had to wait so long for the apps to load, and that app wouldn't load.. I've just spent so much time updating more logins for things, our government app is really secure, and needed extra security for me to  log in, so did a few others, I did get my car system connected quickly though.

It's weird this phone,  no home button, and it's face recognition, we will get used to it though.

We rang Megan on the way home, just to see if the phone worked in the car LOL and she told us she is Member of the Month at training, she got some nice gifts, they announce it 1st of the month but she was in training this morning, so they gave her gifts and took her pic. I'm not supposed to know till Wednesday LOL

Nothing else happening, I used my new cooker again, didn't get back home till after 5pm, and had dinner -- Mussaman Beef on the table by 6.15, normally I have it in the slow cooker all day. Tasted very good too, just more watery than I am used to, but I will thicken the leftovers up before we have them

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

Trish- Georgia has a short coastline on the ocean…😊. We stay at Jekyll Island Georgia on our way to Florida.
Prolia is an injection given twice a year for osteoporosis….like everything else it has its side effects.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

WONKY ADS......
1.  7 OUNCES OF CHOICE SIRLOIN STEAK BOILED TO YOUR LIKENESS AND SMOTHERED WITH GOLDEN FRIED ONION RINGS.
2.  GREAT DAMES FOR SALE.

70S AND SUNNY HERE BUT WE WILL BE GETTING THAT HEATWAVE STARTING WED.  TEMPS MAY HIT UP TO 98 ON THURSDAY.  YIKES.  TOO MUCH FOR US IN MAINE.

DEVONNE......I HOPE YOUR APPTS RUN SMOOTHLY SO YOU CAN GET FROM ONE TO THE OTHER IN TIME.  GOOD LUCK.

TRISH......THANKS FOR THINKING OF ME, BUT I HAVE PLENTY OF FOOD HANDY.  MY CLOSETS ARE STOCKED WITH CANNED GOODS, BOXED ITEMS, PASTAS AND SOUPS INCLUDING SHELF-READY MILK.  I ALSO HAVE A 2-WEEK SUPPLY OF FREEZE-DRIED SOUPS STORED SHOULD THEY BE NEEDED.  THEY ARE GOOD FOR ANOTHER 20 PLUS YEARS.  MY FREEZER IS PACKED WITH GROUND BEEF, CHICKEN, PORK CHOPS, STEW BEEF AND NEW YORK SIRLOIN ALONG WITH SOME FREEZER FOODS AND ICE CREAM.  I WILL NOT STARVE.

HERE WE SAY 'THE BEACHES' WHEN WE MEAN THE OCEANFRONT AND 'THE LAKE' WHEN WE MEAN ONE OF OUR NEARBY LAKES.  i HAVE AT LEAST 4 LAKES WITHIN 10 MILES OF ME AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS THRUOUT THE STATE.

I AM HAVING VANILLA YOGURT AND TOMATO JUICE FOR BREAKFAST TODAY. I DEFROSTED SOME GROUND BEEF SO WILL MAKE A HAMBURGER AND HAVE FROZEN FRIES FOR SUPPER I THINK.  I WILL ALSO MAKE UP TUNA SALAD TO HAVE HANDY OR FOR LUNCH.  I DON'T THINK I WILL WANT TO SPEND MY TIME COOKING MUCH THIS WEEK.
THIS WEEK IS WEEK 5 ON MY CALENDAR SO I DON'T HAVE ANY CHORES THIS WEEK AT ALL.  ITS ALL FUN AND GAMES.  I CAN DO A CHORE IF I FEEL LIKE IT, BUT CAN SKIP IT, TOO.  I THINK I WILL TRY TO GET SOME SEWING DONE ALONG WITH READING, READING, READING THIS WEEK.

STAY SAFE AND COOL MY FRIENDS.  PREPARE WELL FOR THE HEAT AND POSSIBLY POWER LOSS FROM OVERLOADING.  HUGS, QB S
PS.  UPDATED MY QUILTCRAFTER BLOG WITH MY METHOD FOR KEEPING BREAD FRESHER LONGER WITHOUT FREEZING.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

Trish, only Iphone face recognition? Something else to get used to...like the door keypads with fingerprint ID.

I made it to both dr. appts. with time to spare. The Tamoxifen is not causing my skin rash nor my tender stomach (not sure about the stomach issue?) I have to go see a dermatologist and she said they will probably do a biopsy. I thought my dr. visits were over, but one more will be added.

I had big plans to go shopping after I left these appts. I went in Belk and forgot my glasses in the car and couldn't read any prices, so I left and went to Whataburger. It was too hot to go walking in these stores, so I came home.

My lawn guy was supposed to come this past week, but he didn't show up. I'll give him until today; he normally comes after work. I hope he isn't sick or was in an accident. He's good about texting me back, but not this time.

Janet, I answered your PM.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

SANDRA I knew you would be organised, sounds like you are very well set up. Enjoy your rest days, hope the puzzling goes well, I haven't done one for a while!

DEVONNE it's not only face recognition, you can use a passcode same as you can with the older ones. Very easy to navigate, a few things different, but I have got used to it pretty quick, DH on the other hand LOL  it's a process!!! when you 'swipe' he makes a big production of it, the hand (and arm) swipe, I keep telling him you just need to be gentle and use one finger lightly, he'll get it eventually LOL Will they give you something for the osteoporosis?

HOLLY I didn't realise Georgia went right to the coast, maybe I'm thinking of Kentucky, I'll look at a map, hope you get home safely, and get some rest, you will al be very tired.

JANET that is quite a party week for your Grandson, you must be very proud of him, won't be long till we have Dean's final graduation, they do a formal night as well after the final exams.

STRINGS hope you are doing well, and your DH is coping with life OK ((((hugs))))

Nothing happening here today, hair cut and colour, picked up Dean, got a phone case and ordered extra chargers and ear pods from Amazon, the car chargers don't fit our new phones, mine will connect to everything with bluetooth, but I like to see a charger for emergency charge on trips to my sis!

I didn't realise the new charge port is different, it's the same name -  USB-C but different size to our old ones. always something to get you to spend more $$ LOL I need a big clean out of all the older chargers.

Time for me to shut this down and head to bed. We might be up early on Sat morning, Aust play at 4am - yikes!!! If they win they go on to the 16 round! I don't think they will, they play Egypt, and they are really, really good.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

SIGNS OF THE TIMES.......
1.  AT RESTAURANT GAS STATIONS THROUGHOUT THE NATION:  EAT HERE AND GET GAS.
2.  AT A SANTA FE GAS STATION:  WE WILL SELL GASOLINE TO ANYONE IN A GLASS CONTAINER.

A LOVELY DAY HERE.  SUNSHINE AND BEAUTIFUL BLUE SKY. HITTING 80S TODAY.

DEVONNE......GLAD YOU MADE YOUR APPTS IN TIME.  GOSH, ANOTHER DOCTOR TO SEE.  I HOPE THE NEW ONE CAN FIND OUT WHAT IS CAUSING YOUR PROBLEMS.  ITS ALWAYS SOMETHING AS WE GET OLDER.

I HAVE DECIDED TO START COUNTING MY CALORIES.  ITS EITHER THAT OR STOPPING ALL MY SNACKS AND I DON'T THINK I CAN DO THAT.  ITS PART OF THE ENJOYMENT IN MY LAST YEARS.  UNFORTUNATELY I GOT RID OF MY CALORIE COUNTER BOOK AND DON'T REALLY WANT TO BUY ANOTHER.  I HOPE THAT I CAN FIND MOST OF THE INFO ON GOOGLE AND MAKE MYSELF A CHART ON THE FOODS I EAT AND THE SNACKS I ENJOY.  MAYBE THAT WILL HELP ME LOSE A FEW  LBS BEFORE MY HEART DR APPT ON JULY 16TH.  I'D LIKE TO SHOW HIM I LOST SOMETHING SINCE MY LAST APPT 6 MONTHS AGO.  CROSS YOUR FINGERS FOR ME LADIES.

OUR HEATWAVE IS COMING THO A BIT SLOWER THAN EXPECTED.  NOW THEY SAY ONLY THURS. AND FRI. WILL HIT THE 90S.  HERE'S HOPING.
I LOVE NOT HAVING CHORES.  BUT YOU KNOW, ITS A BIT ROUGH TRYING TO THINK WHAT TO DO WITH MY TIME OTHER THAN READ, PUZZLE, TV.   I CAN'T SEW FOR LONG WITH MY HAND ISSUES.  MY FAVORED HAND GETS NUMB AFTER A TIME, EVEN WITH THE WRIST BRACE ON IT.  I MAY BE FORCED TO DO A CHORE OR TWO TO KEEP FROM BOREDOM.
THAT'S IT LADIES.  I HAVE GROUND BEEF DEFROSTED BUT NOT SURE WHAT TO MAKE YET.  I STILL HAVE SOME TUNA SALAD I CAN MAKE FOR SUPPER AND ENUF SOUP LEFT FOR A LIGHT LUNCH.
STAY COOL AND SAFE.  HUGS, QB S

Ladies, I met Elvis and I was in my nightgown! Don't be jealous, lol! Greg asked me to send him a screen shot and I didn''t know what he was up to. It's amazing what you can do on the computer these days.

Trish, my appt. is August 6th and I'll find out then about my osteoporosis treatment. Which reminds me I need to get a bone density test scheduled before then! Always something, lol.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

Devonne, cool pix!

We are home! Ed drove 11 hours yesterday so it would be a shorter day today. We got to nephew Mike’s at 2 to pick up our truck, and home by 3. I’m unpacked and sitting with my feet up. So much construction on the roads!

Trish, we refer to going to the ocean as “going down the shore” .

We’re also getting a heat wave, Thursday and Friday to be 101! Tomorrow and the weekend in the 90’s.

We went to Buc-ees in Florida on the way home, not terribly crowded this time. I got my neighbor a bucket that says Buc-ees and some fudge as a thank you. I got Boone a stuffed Buc-ee. We don’t have any up here, the closest is SC. Seems they are all over the Midwest.

So strange- restrooms south of MD are spotless, MD and north of, not so much. I don’t know if it’s because we’re more populated, or just slobs.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

Devonne, so cute!  Thanks for showing us.  That's your nightgown??  Good Grief!  You should see mine...
ML showed me a pic of her MIL, Ruth, who is 97 next to John Wayne, courtesy of Bill's brother Rick, the family clown.

Sunday, ML called me after on-line church to see if I'd like to go to a Lavender Festival put on by her former co-worker and hubby who own a small lavender farm, nearby.  It was the last day before the heat wave hit and we had a lovely time.  They do this each year and it was rather low key and so pleasant and it smelled so good there.  Her chicken were running around loose and there were 8 or 10 vendors selling their wares, plus all the lavender products they make on the premises, distilling the oil in their several stills (which we didn't see).    My only purchase besides lunch from a food truck was a small fabric bowl, something I've never made myself, but I always wanted one.  One the way home, we stopped at a farmer's mkt. and I bought a pint of honey.   It was a fun day with my girl.
When I got home, Howard showed me a picture of our new great grandson, Oakley Dale, born last Wed. He's a whopper!  8# 9 ozs.
He looks like a Lyons.  His mom is Kaylea, Howard's granddaughter.

I've made some tuna/mac salad for supper.  Guess who just hollered for us to eat.
I read that extreme heat makes people impatient and cross, especially older ones.  That's me!  Today and often!  He did go to W-M by himself this morning, thankfully.

Have a good evening and sweet dreams.    Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

Devonne, those were great pictures!  What fun!!  I don't know how to do any of that stuff with AI or Google.
I like your sail boats, but I do agree that they are a tad too white.  You are doing well.  I really need to find a new hobby too.  Dean is trying to learn to play the guitar now.  He has zero musical ability  but he loves guitar, so he is trying really hard to learn.  Both sons play and they have helped him some.  It is a good thing for  him to do while going through this medical journey.  All in all, we have been blessed as he is going through it rather well.   He does not have to have a third round of chemo injections before his transplant, so that is good news.

It was a HOT one today!!   It reached 94 and with our high humidity it had a "feels like" temp of 104.   I stayed in the house.  Tomorrow and the next day supposed to be the same.  I made potato salad for supper and bought some already cooked bbq ribs at the supermarket.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

Judy, that's a $7 gown from Walmart, lol.

The picture on the wall is Glacier Bay in Alaska. I took that picture and I had Michaels enlarge it and frame it. That was on our Alaska cruise in 2009.

Here's my favorite one Greg sent me. I made some pictures of my hydrangeas to post and my crape myrtle trees. They have done the best this year. I wonder if it's all the rain we've had or it just takes them years to get more blooms?

Re: ODT SUNDAY JUNE 28 ~ SAT JULY 4

DEVONNE how fun is that, I actually just saw that on my new phone today, i didn't know what it was about, now I see the pics you can do. Too cute with all the dogs!!!

CHERYL great idea to learn guitar, I would love to go back to learning the piano, I tried when younger, we had a piano, I didn't stick with it. I guess my fingers are now too old to be trying LOL

SANDRA I think if you just have a plan and stick to it, as well as fill up on water, that helps me more than anything, and smaller meals, with less carbs and more veg/fruit and protein. Sounds easy, but it really isn't, so don't despair, you are doing really well!! , fingers crossed you get a little more off before the Drs, you have time.

IND big baby!!! And cute name, congratulations! One of my school friends gave us all a cute little heart filled with lavender at lunch, it's now in my undies drawer, smells lovely, one friend suggested we put them under pillows, it helps sleep!

HOT, HOT for most of you, stay cool if you can, and drink plenty of water ((((hugs))))

There was a post on our facebook page about Megan as well as in our monthly newsletter. I am so proud of her, she has lost over 35lb, and some of her weight is now muscle, she looks so much trimmer, but her strength is amazing, she can now deadlift 90kgs, up from 75kg, and  bench press 35kg, up from 27.5kg, lbs are roughly double ( it's 2.2lb to 1kg) It's been so good for her mentally, and she is loving being part of our groups. None of our girls look muscle-y (is that even a word) but they do look trim and stand so tall and straight.

The Mr had lunch with his brothers today, he didn't enjoy it, but he went anyway.
