    GOOD AFTERNOON!

    BUSY WEEK. COMPANY WEDNESDAY AND EYE APPOINTMENT YESTERDAY.

    WE ARE HAVING SOME EFFECTS OF THE SMOKE FROM CANADA. COLD FRONT WILL PUSH OUT TO SEA. BY COLD FRONT MEAN HIGH 80s INSTEAD OF 90s.

    NEPHEW RE ENTLY DX WITH LYME DISEASE. SO FAR, SO GOOD. GOT TREATED EARLY. ONE OF BARBARA'S SISTERS CAN'T EAT RED MEATSO SHE MUST HAVE RHRAT ALPHA GAL DISCUSSED A LITTLE BIT AGO. SIS HAD A NEIGHBOR WHO HA L D AND SHE HAD A LOT OG PROBLEMS AND ISSUES WIRH IT.

    MY FRIEND PEGGY AND HER HUBBY HAD 3 FERAL CATS THAT THEY HAD NEUTERED OR SOAYED. THEY BECAME SOME WHAT DOMESTICATED. ONE THEY EVEN PAID FOR A HIP REPLACEMENT.

    STAY save EVERYONE.

    Sandra - yes our house is large…roughly 6-7000 square feet.  Four bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, etc. A 650 Sq foot quilt studio. Only 2 of the bedrooms are set up as bedrooms.  One is about to become another studio for me and the other is his.  We also have a large loft, large family upstairs and another downstairs.  A lot to clean, yup but DH does a lot of it. 
       The smoke from the fires is bad here today…combined with temps in the high 90*s and high humidity, it is unbearable.

    I am now in the process of shopping for a “retreat” sewing machine. My beloved Pfaff is kaput.  😞 I was willing to put up to $1000 into it for repair but the parts are no longer available.  And probably a waste of money.  Oh well.

    Oh, Holly, that was funny that you had the wrong cat spayed!  The mama cat we had spayed is sort of friendly to us.  The vet said she was most likely only a year old and we were glad she only had two kittens.  The male we feed is a beautiful orange one and he comes when he sees me looking at him out of the window, but when I go outside, he says just far enough away from me that I cannot touch him.  There is a really big orange one that comes around once in a while and it is MEAN!  fights all the cats and hisses at us.  The neighbor lady had it spayed, so hopefully there will be no more kittens.  She has had several spayed thru a program and it is only $42 dollars to  do.  They also tip the ear, so if caught again, they know it has been spayed or neutered.  

    The smoke today was not as bad as yesterday.  Still smells like burning plastic, but the haze is lighter.  The sun was red yesterday and the Cleveland air quality was hazardous.

    Janet, I love all those fruits, but have been avoiding them since Dean cannot eat any of that stuff now on his "neutropenic" diet.  No fresh veggies or fruit, especially things with seeds , like strawberries.  We did get him a small watermelon and washed it with soap and water before cutting it ourselves; no precut fruit of any kind.  Apples may be washed and peeled and then eaten.  We are being very careful with his diet and zero eating out or getting take out food.  I prepare it all here.  AS we saw from that lettuce parasite, even that is not safe these days.

    WHOLLY UNHOLY BLOOPERS......
    1.  THE CHOIR WILL MEET AT THE LARSEN HOUSE FOR FUN AND SINNING.
    2.  THURSDAY AT 5 PM THERE WILL BE A MEETING OF THE LITTLE MOTHERS CLUB.  ALL WISHING TO BECOME LITTLE MOTHERS WILL PLEASE MEET WITH THE MINISTER IN HIS STUDY.

    TEMPS DROPPED.  ONLY 70S TODAY AND 50S TONITE WITH RAIN EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON.  WE CAN USE SOME RAIN.

    BEING SATURDAY THERE ARE ONLY A COUPLE CHORES AND THE PILL SORTING IS DONE.  I PLAN TO MAKE A CASSEROLE FROM SOME STUFF I NEED TO USE UP AND THE CHICKEN BREAST I DEFROSTED.  JUST A SMALL 9 BY 9 TO SHARE WITH 2 OTHER LADIES.  THEY WILL BE MY GUINEA PIGS.  

    LINDA.......GLAD TO HEAR YOUR NEPHEW CAUGHT THE TICK EASILY SO HE COULD BE TREATED RIGHT AWAY.  HOPE YOU ARE DOING WELL AFTER YOUR EYE CARE THIS WEEK.

    JANET.....SORRY YOU ARE LOSING YOUR FAVORITE PFAFF.  I KNOW HOW WE LOVE OUR FAVORITE MACHINES AND HATE DOING WITHOUT.  I HOPE YOU FIND ONE YOU CAN LOVE AS WELL.

    HOLLY......FUNNY STORY ABOUT YOU NEUTERING THAT MALE CAT AND HE BELONGS TO SOMEONE ELSE.  AT LEAST HE WILL NOT ADD TO THE NUMBERS NOW.

    Air quality is terrible again today. We’re expecting rain later, hopefully it will help. 

    I also love berries! Blackberries. Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries. I have berries every day on my cereal. 

    Last night we ordered pizza, first time in a few months. I had 2 slices, yum. 

    Like Sandra, I sorted pills for the week. Also put away clean dishes and did my exercises.

    GOOD MORNING!

    HOT TODAY WITH POSSIBLE STORMS. HOPE WE GET THEM TO DO AWAY WITH THE SMOKE. TODD REALLY SUFFERED YESTERDAY HAVING TO WORK OUT IN IT. MADE HIME COUGH A LOT.

    GOT CELL PHONE STRAIGHTENED OUT. COMPANY THAT I WAS  WAS L TAKEN OVER BY ANOTHER AND MY SWITCH WAS "COMPLICATED" BY BEING ON A PRE PAID PLAN. WISH COMPANIES WOULD LEAVE US OLD PEOPLE ALONE. ALSO, COMPANIES DON'T CONSIDER THAT CONSUMERS DON'T HAVE VISION ISSUES, HEARING ISSUES, AND NOT ALWAYS TECH SAVVY.

    SORRY, I AM OFF MY SOAP BOX.

    I'm back from the brink (whatever that means?).  In other words the group was here yesterday and as usual, once come, I'm a happy camper.  We ended up with eight after two who said they were coming, had to cancel at the last minute.   ML came 3 different days  this week to help me.  Her choice, and it was more than welcome.  The outside even looks like someone lives here.  And like Mary Lou, the house is clean, and straight and will stay that way for awhile.  And, this is my totally free day.  The day after, I always treat myself to a day of complete indulgence.   (I even have leftovers for supper!  Yay! )

    Theresa, didn't know you have a blog, looked at it and all I saw was Simba on the couch.   Guess from what you said, you're going to add more to it.  He's a beauty and it's nice to be loved unconditionally as he surely does you.   Good for Todd, next year...

    After some substantial rain storms yesterday, the air appears to be un-smoky.  Cheryl described the smell accurately- a mix of wood smoke and burning plastic-- acrid!  Howard, thankfully, does not have COPD, but asthma, so he is staying inside most of the time.  And ML also has mild asthma, so same for her and I've always been a "house fly"!

    Next Saturday we're invited to Gabriel Home, where Mom lived to the end, for their annual backyard picnic.  They have gobs of food, including special Filipino dishes, and you can bring something if you wish, or not.  No pressure.   Even Howard will go to this! 
    Then, the next Sat., Aug. 1st, is the Chesterton Art Fair, a juried one, that I've gone to since it's inception in 1958. Since it's always held outdoors, ML and I will not go if it 95 degrees, which it often is.  But, it's good one, with many beautiful (and expensive) treasures.

    Going to close this and instead of "getting busy" pick my next enjoyable thing to do.  Have a good day...

    I feel for all of you that are having air quality problems. I do remember that, Patty, from last year. 

    Holly, I haven't seen any ticks since I moved "out of the woods" at our other house. Sandy always got ticks there because she went into the woods chasing cats. My little dogs didn't get fleas here either. It's just the weirdest thing, but a good thing. When we got ticks, we always heated up the end of the tweezers and touched the tick. It made it easier for them to let go!

    Theresa, that's wonderful news Todd can retire next year! It seems like this retreat came and went really fast.

    Janet, do you eat watermelon and cantaloupe? I don't like raspberries, but I love blackberries.

    My house is 1,902 square feet and it's way more than I need (or want). I have four bedrooms and it's just me? Really! I have 3 bedrooms I seldom go into and I have to pay to heat them. Also a second bathroom that no one has ever taken a shower in. 

    Builders don't build 2 bdrm houses. You have to have land and then you can really downsize. In my county, you have to build at least a 1,000 sq. ft. house. No tiny homes allowed. I really think I could live in a tiny home. I love to tour them on You Tube. There's plenty tiny home communities in Tennessee and North Carolina. I love the ones with lots of windows, tall ceilings and no loft. I would want the front and back porches. I saw one yesterday that had two bedrooms on the main level. Think it was over the 400 sq. feet that makes it a tiny home. It would be one I would choose! Think it would be wonderful to live in a close neighborhood like that and have friendly neighbors walking by and coming over to visit. A tiny home is just a dream of mine because my house is also paid for & I don't plan on moving any time soon, lol. 

    Trish, Caleb did have headaches from the accident, but he's fine now. They leave for Texas in two weeks. G&E have decided not to go because of the heat.

    Devonne - the only fruit I eat is red grapes and oranges. I don’t eat green beans, sweet potatoes, collards, mustard greens….
