YOGI BERRA SAID......
1. EVERY DIRECTOR BITES THE HAND THAT LAYS THE GOLDEN EGG.
2. IN TWO WORDS: IM-POSSIBLE.
3. IT'S MORE THAN MAGNIFICENT---ITS MEDIOCRE.
ITS CLOUDY RIGHT NOW AND IN THE HI 30S. WE'LL BE GETTING RAIN LATER.
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE. ARE YOU ALL DRESSED IN YOUR BEST FINERY AND PATENT LEATHER SHOES?
ITS MY LAST DAY OF NO-CHORES DAYS. A DAY OF REST PER USUAL THOUGH I PUT MY MEATS IN FREEZER BAGS AND THE FREEZER. I TOOK OUT SOME PORK CHOPS FOR TOMORROW.
MY SON IS ON HIS WAY TO THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC FOR ANOTHER VACATION. I WISH HIM GOOD WEATHER AND SUNSHINE.
TODAY I WILL WATCH MORE TV, PLAY SOLITAIRE, READ, WORK MY PUZZLE AND EAT, EAT, EAT. I USUALLY DON'T SEW ON GRAY DAYS. I NEED THE SUNSHINE AND THE LIGHT TO DO MY BEST.
I HAVE ENJOYED THIS WEEK OF REST. AND I KNOW THAT EVERY TIME A MONTH HAS 5 WEEKS, I CAN DO IT AGAIN. EXCEPT FOR THE OVER-EATING OF COURSE.
STAY SAFE. ENJOY YOUR EASTER. DO YOUR THING. HUGS QB S ![]()

Janet, how incredibly sad about the bird. I’d cry along with you.
Tracy put up a short video of BJ’s memorial service. Quilts everywhere, and so many flowers.
We had a lovely brunch at Heather’s house. And Grandpop Ralph was able to teach Jules how to transfer pictures from her phone to her laptop. It was a nice, low key meal and visit. Heather loved her apron.
It’s rainy and dreary out. We were glad to not be driving home in the dark.
Sandra, did your son retire?

Happy Easter everyone. I do miss coloring eggs with the little ones. No boiled eggs at my house.
G&E and the crew left today for Panama City. It's Spring Break here so they decided to leave much earlier and stay Sunday thru Sunday.
I sewed two rows of this quilt together. I'm not crazy about the colors, but since I cut it out 18 years ago, felt kind of an obligation to finish it. I will not be quilting it; only finishing the top.

DISORDER IN THE COURT....
Q. JAMES STOOD BACK AND SHOT TOMMY LEE?
A. YES.
Q. AND THEN TOMMY LEE PULLED OUT HIS g** AND SHOT JAMES IN THE FRACAS?
A. (AFTER A HESITATION) NO SIR, JUST ABOVE IT.
ITS SUNNY TODAY IN THE MID 40S. NICE.
HOLLY......NO, MY SON JUST HAS 5 OR 6 WEEKS OF VACATION EACH YEAR AND THEY LOVE GOING TO MEXICO OR THE CARIBBEAN OR ITALY AT THOSE TIMES.
I HAD A LOVELY WEEK OF DOING NOTHING BUT FUN THINGS AND COOKING. I GAINED A NASTY 3 LBS SO WILL WORK ON GETTING THOSE OFF THIS WEEK. I AM BACK TO EATING RIGHT AND DOING MY CHORES.
YUP, THE MONTHLY AND WEEKLY CHORES LISTS BEGIN AGAIN TODAY. ITS WASHING MY 2 FLOORS FOR THE MONTHYLY LIST AND CLEANING/POLISHING MY SMALL APPIANCES ON THE COUNTERS FOR THE MONDAY LIST. NOT TOO BAD.
I HAVE A PORK CHOP AND VEGGIE SUPPER TO MAKE FOR 5 OF US SINCE SHARON NEXT DOOR BROUGHT ME 6 NICE CHOPS FROM THE FOOD PANTRY. THEY GIVE HER EXTRA BECAUSE SHE TOLD THEM THERE IS A GAL WHO COOKS FOR OTHERS HERE (ME). SHE BRINGS ME THE BOUNTY TO PREPARE. I DON'T MIND COOKING AND ITS NICE GETTING THE EXTRA FOOD SINCE OTHERWISE I WOULD BE USING MY OWN GROCERIES TO SHARE. THIS WAY ITS COSTING ME A BIT LESS.
I PLAN TO WORK ON MY VICTORIAN LADIES TODAY. I WANT TO ADD BORDERS TO SOME OF THEM AND GET SOME OF THEM STARTED, THE ONES I WILL GIVE AWAY. I WILL MACHINE-QUILT THEM THOUGH TO SAVE TIME. I CAN DO HAND-SEWING ON THE BACK-TO-FRONT BINDINGS AT CRAFT MORNINGS.
I, TOO, MISS COLORING EGGS FOR EASTER BUT THERE'S NO ONE HERE TO SHARE WITH SO I HAVEN'T COLORED AN EGG FOR SOME YEARS NOW.
THAT'S IT LADIES. STAY SAFE. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Good morning, I just skipped over a couple of posts from last week. So much to do around here!
NO effing way would my child go to Mexico now or then when they were 17. I was accused of being a helicopter mom so many times. Let's compare outcomes shall we? Scary world out there.
Mom's service was epic and AMAZING. We had a full house and a really nice time. I wish I could have sent a limo to pick you all up.
Someday I will catch up on all of your news (Cheryl) Hugs and love to you all. xo Tracy

Looks like a slow morning, here on ODT. WE got up a 7:30 at which time I remembered that we were supposed to have our recyclables out to the road by 5 AM.
They failed to pick them up last week although the website said they had? I called the company and was told they'd come by sometime, today. Anyway, Howard scurried out there and lo and behold, the bin was empty even thou not at the road?? Did they come down the driveway and empty it? We're leaving well enough alone. Sadly, we will not be recycling anymore. Too many misses after he's hauled it down our 200 ft. driveway, (that was the third time) or worse, a snow plow or semi knocks it over and he has to pick it up. Or sometimes Tom, next door, graciously picks it up for us. We'll still put the trash/garbage out and will still have to pay for the separate recycl. pickup as there's no choice and no other way to dispose of it. We don't have the public dumps that are available in other areas of the country. I never can believe how much refuse two people can generate!! And that, my friends is the excitement in the Lyons household for this Monday morning! ![]()
Welcome back, QB, to the 'real world'!
How nice you thought of that week-long way to celebrate your birthday and we could, in a sense, along with you! Mom's birthday was April 16 and I always envied her for the timing. My Dec. 17 birthday is always "tainted" by the Christmas hubbub. Not that I've ever suffered much or had it forgotten.
Nice that Daphne and Matt can enjoy traveling at this time in their life. He has earned it.
Devonne, styles, colors and interests change and it is hard to discipline oneself to finish something from the past. Good for you! I often run across UFO's that I can't even remember!
And, when I examine something I've made long ago, I wonder how I did that? I hope your family has a good time and that you don't feel too alone while they're gone. And, I know Greg is at his home, but not as close to you...![]()
I tried something I read about for my ham slice for our Easter supper. First of all, I only gently sauteed it in a bit of butter in a big skillet so it didn't get tough. But someone said he just lightly sprinkles a bit of brown sugar on one side and/or the other to make a simple glaze. That counteracted the saltiness just enough and was easy as pie. Now, I realize that was for just us two, not company. I loved a good glazed ham with the scoring, and cloves, etc. and in the past have fixed it with a can of Seven Up poured over but this was just a slice for us, so...
When she passed, I looked up what I could find of BJ's obit but it didn't tell much, like where she was born, etc. I do hope we hear from Tracy once in awhile. It's hard to just lose someone and never hear anything again. (ETA: Thanks, Tracy.
I read your post AFTER I posted mine!) I've mentioned it to my family. but might run ML through a test, here, because Howard probably wouldn't know exactly what to do and wouldn't do it. Hope this paragraph wasn't too maudlin, but it was on my mind after Holly told us.
With that, I'll quit. I have today to hit at this or that and tomorrow, ML is coming again for another session in the spare room. Little by little, we're getting it done. I have my small group here on the 17th and our goal is that I can leave that door open and they can put their jackets on the bed in there. I've told them before it's my office/workroom but if we could just do that, I wouldn't worry about the rest.

IT'S TRUE......
1. I'M NOT LAZY, I JUST ENJOY DOING NOTHING!
2. IF THINGS GET BETTER WITH AGE, I'M APPROACHING MAGNIFICENCE.
ITS SNOWING HERE. THEY SAY LESS THAN AN INCH BUT WE'VE HAD THAT ALREADY AND ITS JUST WARM ENOUGH TO MELT A BIT AS IT LANDS SINCE ITS 33 DEGREES.
TRACY......THANK YOU FOR CHECKING IN. WE WILL MISS YOUR MOM'S DAILY POSTS. SHE WAS A GEM.
YESTERDAY I MADE THE PORK CHOPS WITH VEGGIES AND GRAVY AND SHARED WITH 4 OTHERS. ITS WAS GOOD AND I GOT THUMBS UP FROM ALL OF THEM. I THANKED SHARON FOR PROVIDING THE 6 CHOPS AND THEN KATHY MADE SOME SUGAR COOKIES SO SHE SHARED THOSE WITH US AS WELL. IT WAS A GOOD AND HEARTY SUPPER. I WISH I HAD MADE MORE POTATOES SO I COULD HAVE SOME LEFTOVERS. I GUESS I REALLY DON'T NEED THEM, BUT THEY WERE SO DARN TASTY WITH THE BROWN GRAVY.
FOR MONTHLY CHORES I NEED TO WIPE DOWN MY FRIDGE TODAY AND THE WEEKLY ONES ARE DUSTING THE FURNITURE AND ARTWORKS SO NOT VERY MUCH. I HAD HOPED TO SEW TODAY, BUT ITS TOO DARN GRAY OUT THERE. I LIKE SUNSHINE. IT HELPS WITH THE SEWING.
I THINK I WILL CLEAR OUT ONE OF MY CONTAINERS IN THE CLOSET. ITS FOR PATTERNS AND TOTE PATTERNS. I GAVE MY DAUGHTER 4 TOTE PATTERNS WHEN SHE STOPPED IN AND I SEE THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER TYPES OF PATTERNS LEFT IN THE BOX. I WANT TO SORT THEM BY THEME.
TOM, THE OWNER OF LITTLE DOG OSCAR, IS COMING HOME FROM HOSPITAL TODAY. HE'S DOING MUCH BETTER. I WILL LEARN MORE FROM HIM LATER. I'M SURE OSCAR IS MISSING HIM. A NEIGHBOR UPSTAIRS TOOK CARE OF OSCAR. SHE'S YOUNGER AND MORE AGILE AND TAKES HIM OUT FOR HIS LONG WALKS.
I DID MY LAPS TODAY AND FINISHED A JIGSAW PUZZLE SO FAR. I WILL START ANOTHER WHEN I AM THROUGH HERE.
STAY SAFE MY FRIENDS. HUGS, QB S ![]()

It has been one year since I finished my cancer radiation. Traveling every day, Monday thru Friday, for six weeks was a pain in the butt. I am still taking the Tamoxifen, but only 5 mg/day. The lowest dosage is 10 mg, so I use a pill cutter to cut them in half. I am doing great! I still have some tightness in my chest 13 months after the DM, so not sure if that will ever go away.
I had a great day yesterday! Went to see a real estate attorney and he told me all I needed was a Will and asked if I wanted to do a Power of Attorney. That was an extra $200 so I told him I would get back with him. I have mixed feelings about a POA. Both of my sons I had added to my deed in 2020 as Joint Tenants with Right of Survivorship. I did that to keep them from going thru Probate, but unfortunately, they will need to go thru Probate with a Will. They would have owed more capital gains going the route I had chosen, so he is going to submit a form to the clerk's office to remove them. It's also considered a gift and we don't want gift taxes.
I left there and went to Goodwill. I have been looking for an orange casserole dish and was thrilled to find one for half price! Only $2.50. I also was surprised to find some vintage glasses. I have never seen them at any Goodwill store before. They also had a pink casserole dish with red flowers that I wanted with a carrier, but the price was $13. I left it there for someone else. A good day for sure!
While talking to a lady, in Goodwill, she showed me an Elvis gospel album in her cart. She was excited to get it for her 16 year old DD, who loves Elvis. I said your daughter will be so happy. She said, oh, she's no longer with us. She committed suicide at age 16. We still play her Elvis records and keep her bedroom just like it was. I told her I was so sorry...not really knowing what to say. I'm sure my face said it all.
My orange casserole made by Cook's Tools and my vintage glasses. It's oven safe, microwave and freezer safe.
Today I am finishing the quilt top, then do some house chores and laundry. Tomorrow I want to start on a new painting, a much smaller one, maybe another bird.

What a day it’s been! Ralph woke me up at 5 a.m. He’d had a battery charging in the basement and forgot to disconnect it last night. When he went down at 5 there was a funny chemical like smell, and some meter he has showed high levels. He called the fire department and they came and walked the house and basement with meters, and decided the whole house needed to be ventilated. So they opened all the windows and used a fan like thing to suck the old air out, then checked the levels again in each room. They were here over an hour. They put the battery outside and he’ll recycle it. It was almost 7 a.m. by the time it was all done. So I’ve taken 2 naps.
Tracy, so glad to see you posting! Visit anytime!
Sandra, keep your snow! I follow a quilt shop in Montana that was closed yesterday because of a blizzard! We have a frost warning tonight and tomorrow night.
Devonne, I guess everyone grieves differently. Whatever gets them thru the day. BTW, autocorrect changed Elvis’s gospel album to a gossip album!

Happy birthday, Joan!
Holly, I should have went back and read my message, lol. Glad everything is ok and no fire. That was scary!
I am working on a small inside border now. When that's done, I'll have a much wider outside floral border, then the quilt top is finished for me.
I get hungry every day around 3:00-3:30. I need a snack around this time. Today I had applesauce.

GOSH HOLLY. WHAT A SCARY THOUGHT. GLAD HE CALLED THE FIRE DEPT SO THEY COULD VENT THE HOUSE. YOU DON'T WANT TO TAKE CHANCES ON THE FUMES BEING DANGEROUS.
GOOD THAT ITS DONE.
DEVONNE.....YOU GOT SOME CUTE FINDS. LUCKY YOU. ENJOY.
OUR SNOW STOPPED AND IT WAS WARM ENOUGH THAT IT'S ALL MELTED ALREADY. THAT'S THE KIND OF SNOW STORM I PREFER.

Afternoon y'all! ![]()
Several of you asked how I hurt my shoulder. Simba saw a buck, we were at the end of my driveway and the deer was across the street, and lunged. I saw it too late to do anything to protect myself. It would get better then get worse. Each time it got worse it was worse than the time before. I did get an x-ray and nothing broken or in the healing stage. Went to see my new primary care doctor. She put me on muscle relaxers and gabapentin. Gave me a shot of Tramadol, it did nothing, site still hurts and is purple to green! She called me later that day and said to go to the ER. I did not go, I did tell her I was not going. All they would have said is did the medication she gave me help? I had not picked it up yet since it was not ready. Waste of money, to go to the ER, IMHO! The medication is helping. The first couple days were rough as there was a bunch of muscle spasms as the muscles were relaxing, so to speak. Hopefully this helps in the long run! ![]()
I did set up my physical with her. The doctor before her left the practice as did the 2 doctors before the last one that left. Each time they canceled my physical, did not call me to reschedule, just cancelled. Hopefully she will stay. I do like her. So Friday I go for bloodwork and the next Friday for the physical! ![]()
I got a letter today about a credit card I cancelled, months ago, that was in dad's name. They wanted "documents"!?! I had to call and ask what documents! This current generation cannot communicate, what they need. If they had put "can you send us the death certificate...." I would have had it ready to go in the mail. I did ask if I could email it, I knew they wouldn't, but it was worth asking. They will take a fax but not email? The lady was really nice. She knew exactly what I needed...![]()
I am so tired of dealing with dad's stuff along with mom's. If it had been done by my DSis, I would not have to do all of this.![]()
I am getting it done. It's always a slow process. I could go to the UPS store and fax it, cheaper to do snail mail! ![]()
I have been working on the retreat FQ challenge. I got 4 blocks done yesterday! It is up on my design wall and I hope it will look as good as I think it will. I need to get me some pictures to cut out and use as quilting templates. I have picked out my quilting thread already. ![]()
Got to go make supper. Nothing exciting. Just leftover turkey and ham from Easter and leftover 4 cheese roni! We went to my MIL's. She started the cooking and Sara and I finished it. She had bought biscuit mix, but didn't tell me to make it, so no biscuits. That's fine, I don't need the carbs! ![]()

Good evening friends.
I have not read in a few days, but will do that soon. I have not been in the mood to do so.
The news is not good regarding Dean. It is not a death sentence, but not good. He has Acute Myeloid Leukemia. It comes on very sudden and it did with him! He will be doing 5 days of injections and 1 pill a month as they try to get him into a remission. Then, if he is still strong enough, a bone marrow transplant will happen. The good new is that he is in great health other than this horrid disease. No heart problems, kidney issues, diabetes, etc, so all in good order. He takes no medications at all and the will be to his benefit. The doctor at Cleveland Clinic says he thinks he can get him into complete cure with a bone marrow transplant and then something else can kill him. (He really said that! ) So, please keep us in your prayers as we go through this. I will get on here soon, but right now, I am just getting my brain to work. We do not know when his treatment will start or how many treatments he will have to take. They are still waiting on a "genome" test from the biopsy to determine the medications. We thank the Lord for each day.
Thanks so much!

I’m at retreat so this will be quick.
Holly- years ago DH had his race car battery on a charger in the basement. We heard a bang. DH went down. The darn thing cracked and exploded spraying battery acid everywhere where! It took the paint off the concrete walls. Damaged the ceiling. Ruined the shoes, boots on the show rack near the steps and ruined the wooden railing (banister). We had to get a hazmat team to clean it up.
Teresa- sorry about the shoulder. My dad had a similar injury….in the days when they had just started using cortisone. It was a long process but it did get better.
Wishing Dean the best.

Cheryl, not good news for sure but it's treatable. Sorry he has to get those injections. Sending my love and prayers.
I pinned the last border on last night and came in the sewing room to finish it. I looked over and Gracie was laying right in the middle of the quilt with all these pins in it! She walked off with no disaster!
Theresa, it took a long time for Emily's shoulder to heal. I hope you won't need surgery on down the road.
Janet, have fun at the retreat!

JUST A QUICK STOP. MY VERY SWEET NEIGHBOR TOM, OWNER OF DOGGY OSCAR, PASSED AWAY THIS MORNING. HE HAD BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE HOSPTAL 3 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK. FIRST IT WAS PANCREATITIS, THEN HE HAD KIDNEY PROBS AND THEN IT WAS B.P. AND YEAST INFECTIONS. THEY SENT HIM HOME YESTERDAY WITH MEDS. HE WAS GONE WHEN JULIE ON THE 3RD FLOOR WENT TO TAKE OUT HIS DOG OSCAR FOR HIS MORNING WALK. I CAN'T WALK HIM. ANYWAY, I AM FEELING SO TERRIBLE RIGHT NOW. I HAD TEXTED HIM THIS MORNING TO SEE IF HE COULD HANDLE SOME CHICKEN AND RICE SOUP FOR SUPPER TODAY. NO REPLY. HE WAS ALREADY TAKEN AWAY.
SORRY TO BRING SUCH SAD NEWS TO THE BOARD BUT HE WAS A GOOD FRIEND. I'LL MISS HIM.

Cheryl, thank goodness it is treatable. Things are better with treatments since I worked Oncology. I try to keep up but it is ever evolving. That's a good thing!![]()
QB sorry about the neighbor. ![]()
Today is not a good day with the shoulder. I hate taking these meds. I don't know if they are working because I am taking them and having some good moments, or if the good moments would have happened anyways. I will just keep plugging away! ![]()
I have sat with the heat on it and today it is not helping. Probably need the TENS, but I have to have help getting the pads on, my arm does not go to the spot I need to put it on. ![]()
I have done my daily walk and home. I found the recipe for Sara's PB pie. I need to go get the ingredients. I got tired of looking through my recipes and went to the Kraft/Philadelphia Cream Cheese site and found it. It's a frozen pie and is awesome. After my walk tomorrow I will run by the store and get the cookies and cool whip. I am making 2 pies. One for hubby and 1 to keep, since it is frozen we can keep it in the freezer and eat it once we are done with the Easter sweets. Just as easy to make 2 as it is to make one! Once everyone has a piece, Sara takes her pie home. So we don't get anymore, unless I make another one. See my brain works from time to time! ![]()
![]()
We are trying to use up the boxed meals we have. Before they expire too bad! So tonight it's Old El Paso chicken Enchiladas. I have the chicken defrosting. My pantry almost looks barren. We have pounded the boxed stuff, since I found a recipe for most of these things that we like better, less salt, less chemicals, so it's a win for us! ![]()
Nothing else exciting from my little corner of the world. ![]()

Sandra, I’m so sorry about the loss of your friend, I know you were fond of him.
I got Steph’s apron cut out. One side is different colored apples, her choice, the other is coffee themed.
I have meatloaf in the oven, I’ll make mashed potatoes with it, and seasoned apples. I just put in a Walmart order for delivery in the morning. I find their prices to be comparable to Aldi.
We had a freeze warning last night and tonight! Winter isn’t quite ready to leave us.
Theresa, do you have an electric throw? That might feel good on your shoulder.
Janet, yikes on the battery! I hope retreat is going well.
Cheryl, sending good vibes Dean’s way.
We haven’t seen Mary Lou lately, I hope all is well with her.
Offline
Cheryl, I'm thankful for the positives with Dean that give us greater hope. Trusting and praying for remission and a cure.
Thanks for getting back to us as soon as you could.
And QB, how sad for you and the other neighbors. I'm sure this was unexpected. Knowing your tender heart, I'm glad you weren't the Oscar walker this morning. I believe his apt. is right next to yours. Hugs and love to you.
I had a crown prep on a 2nd tooth this morning. It went well, but is a bit sore now that the anesthetic has worn off, something I didn't experience with the other one in January. I'm a bit surprised as that one seemed more trying to go through than this one. The best news is that with this one, as well as the other, each cost $500 less than they could have, due to neither needing a core buildup. We had stuff to get at Walmart afterwards, then came home.
Theresa, so sorry about your shoulder. Things can happen so quickly and change everything. When a dog sees a deer, instinct takes over and there's no stopping it. Tiny as Fancy was, she took out after one, once. I was glad Howard was out with her and not me. He got her stopped just before she and the deer disappeared into the woods.
Going to go and rest myself. No supper to make as we both ate something when we got home and will snack if we wish, later. Sweet Dreams. ![]()
