ITS A PRETTY NICE DAY TODAY, SUNNY AND IN THE 50S. LOVING IT.
I WENT TO CRAFT MORNING BEFORE I CAME HERE SO I'M A LITTLE LATE. I FINISHED LADY ANNABELLA TODAY. I FIND I CAN HEM A WHOLE BORDER AND ADD A LABEL DURING THAT TIME.
FOR LUNCH I FINISHED MY PORK CHOPS. I ONLY EAT 2/3 OF ONE AT A MEAL SO I HAD 3 MEALS FROM THE TWO. WORKS FOR ME.
TONITE I PLAN TO MAKE POTATO PANCAKES. THAT, OF COURSE, MAY CHANGE IF I TAKE A NAP AND WAKE TOO LATE. I HAVE THINGS FOR SANDWICHES SO I WILL BE FINE WITH THAT, TOO.
HOLLY. .......HOORAY FOR THE ELECTRIC FIREPLACE. THEY ARE PRETTY AND THEY DO GIVE OFF A BIT OF HEAT THO NOT MUCH I DON'T THINK. MY SON HAD ONE WHEN I LIVED THERE.
JUDY.....I REMEMBER CUTTING COUPONS FROM OUR SUNDAY PAPER. I OFTEN GOT ENOUGH TO PAY FOR THE PAPER, THO I WAS NOT A COUPON SAVER OTHERWISE. THEY ARE PRETTY SCARCE THESE DAYS.
I OFTEN LOOK AT THE XMAS PHOTO CARDS I GOT FROM YOU LADIES AND OTHERS. I KEEP THEM IN A SMALL NOTEBOOK WHERE I HAVE MY MONTHLY LIST OF SPECIAL DAYS.
PREDISNONE K.ILLS ALL FEELING SO THERE IS NO PAIN. ITS NOT SOMETHING ONE SHOULD TAKE OFTEN. IT CAN HIDE A SERIOUS PROBLEM SOMETIMES, BUT FOR SHORT TERM HEALING, IT SEEMS TO WORK ITS MAGIC. GOOD FOR YOU FEELING BETTER.
CONDOLENCES ON YOUR UNCLE IN FLORIDA JOINING ST. PETER. ITS ALWAYS A HARD THING, LOSING FAMILY.
CHERYL.......GREAT THAT DEAN WILL HAVE A NICE TV TO WATCH WHILE HE RECUPERATES. PRAYERS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS CONTINUE ON HIS HEALING JOURNEY.
HAVE A SAFE DAY AND A PLEASANT ONE. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Afternoon y'all! ![]()
Everyone is quiet today. Nothing new and exciting here. I got my email cleared out to less than 50 emails! That was from over 12K emails! I was past due in that project. I started on the last page and moved to present! I found a bunch of Joann's emails! LOL! It's done! Next is to go into each file and thin those down. Not today I am done with that! ![]()
We are still praying for rain. Hubby and are are using shower warm-up water to water the outside plants. The cistern is dry. He even took it and cleaned it out. It's waiting to be filled with rain water! We hopefully will get some next week! ![]()
I did finally get my bed stripped and remade yesterday despite Simba's efforts to help me! ![]()
I have washed the comforter, and replaced it with a cheater cloth quilt, and removed to electric blanket. I did put a blanket at the foot of the bed so we could pull it up if we were cold. The electric blanket was washed today and it is hanging outside to dry! ![]()
I need to go pay some bills and maybe work in the sewing room a bit. Exciting I know! ![]()
That's everything from my little corner of the world! ![]()

Nothing exciting happening here either. Pretty day full of sunshine and a warm breeze. I did hand pull some weeds out of my large flower bed. Seems the weeds have taken over since Dean is not taking care of the lawn these days. Aaron and grandson Gabriel do come over and mow and week whack, but the flower beds are being neglected. I can pull for a while but then have to take a break. We do need new mulch put down. We usually do that every other year. We do have a large lot (almost an acre) and it does take a lot of time and work.
Sandra, we are having pork chops too. They seem to be the only reasonably priced meat these days. I will bake a couple of sweet potatoes to go with the chops.
Janet, what did you get done at your retreat? Any photos to share? ![]()

After you get all those weeds pulled, I suggest sprinkling Preen, a pre-emergent weed killer. I use it every spring and seldom see any weeds.
It’s a beautiful day here today, the only thing anyone could complain about is that it is a little too breezy.
There is a fairly new facility in our county that ministers to the homeless. They have shower and laundry facilities, a limited amount of donated clothing, and provide one meal a day as well as having mental health help available. The main goal is helping them in whatever way they need to be able to hold a job. Many businesses, churches and individuals provide the meals served. My Sunday school class took a meal today. It was a pretty simple meal of hot dogs, fresh veggies/dip, chips, fresh fruit and cookies. We were told they usually have about 25 people but we took enough for more than that thinking they could take leftovers to eat later. It is only open 9-4 during the week until they move to a larger building where they can have overnight room.

IT'S TRUE......
1. DON'T MESS WITH OLD PEOPLE. WE DIDN'T GET THIS AGE BY BEING STUPID.
2. STARTING TOMORROW WHATEVER LIFE THROWS AT ME, I'M DUCKING SO IT HITS SOMEONE ELSE.
IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY HERE TODAY IN THE LOW 50S. MAYBE OUR TEMPS WILL STAY A BIT WARMER NOW, THO OUR NITES DROP INTO THE LOW 30S.
THERESA......I CAN'T EVEN FATHOM HAVING THOUSANDS OF E-MAILS WAITING. I GET LEERY WHEN THEY HIT A HUNDRED.
MARYLOU.....HOW NICE YOUR SUNDAY SCHOOL IS FEEDING THOSE IN NEED. YOU ARE BUILDING CHARACTER.
TONITE IS OUR POTLUCK SUPPER. MY BUFFET WARMER CAME JUST IN TIME TO BE CHRISTENED THIS WEEK. I HOPE IT KEEPS MY CASSEROLE TOASTY WARM.
I NEVER MADE THE POTATO PANCAKES FOR MY SUPPER LAST NITE. I GOT SO CAUGHT UP IN WORKING THE NEWEST JIGSAW PUZZLE, IT WAS 5 O'CLOCK BEFORE I KNEW IT. I HAD 2 FROZEN CHICKEN PATTIES AND THE REST OF MY RICE ARONI FOR SUPPER. FAST AND EASY.
A SANDWICH FOR LUNCH WILL HOLD OFF THE HUNGRIES TIL THE POTLUCK. CHORES ARE EASY. I MAY GET TO SEW A BIT MORE TODAY.
STAY SAFE AND TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Cheryl, pork chops, and sweet potatoes sound really good!
I planted the traditional flowers this morning… Petunias, Salvia and Marigold‘s. Been planting these for 50+ years, lol. I want to get some zinnia because butterflies love them. I’m headed out so I may find some today.
I took up two of my hybrid tea rose bushes and I’m planning bulbs in this area. I bought mulch to put in this area, but will the bulbs come up through the mulch or should I wait until the bulbs come up? It’s just dark black soil right now.
Mary Lou, what a wonderful facility to help the homeless. A lot of people look down on homeless people, but not every homeless person is a drug addict or an alcoholic. Unfortunately, my brother was homeless and he was an alcoholic. He wasn’t homeless because no one offered to help him; he did not want the help and “never had a problem he couldn’t fix.” he lived with each one of his sisters at one time or another..
I’m getting a late start so I need to get out of here,

Still need rain! ![]()
QB most of the emails were from the last few years while taking care of mom. I didn't have time to give the emails the attention they needed, then got overwhelmed by the number of emails. So it was becoming a vicious circle that I had to jump in with both feet and just get it done. And I did! ![]()
Cheryl that meal does sound good! ![]()
DS I am never done planting, just need to figure out where I am planting what! ![]()
I was given some hibiscus seeds which I will plant this weekend. Just need to keep the soil moist so the seeds do their thing. If the weather guessers are right we should get rain next week, over several days! ![]()
Nothing else new or exciting from my little corner of the world. ![]()

MaryLou, I have always been leery of putting any sort of weed killer in this particular flower bed because it is directly above my well. I am afraid it will contaminate my water. We did put black plastic liners down, but that was years ago and I am sure it has deteriorated by now. I tried doing the boiling water with lots of salt, but I think the weeds like it! ![]()
Devonne, I love those old reliable flowers. I plant those in addition to my geraniums. Geraniums do so well in my area. It is too early to plant here and I always wait till Mothers' Day to do so. My azaleas are in bloom and they are beautiful. Sure wish they stayed in bloom longer than they do.
Pork chops and sweet potatoes were good!! I am going to make a homemade pizza for tonight and Dean and I will watch the season finale of Matlock (the new one with Kathy Bates).

Trying the blog thing! I have a picture of Simba uploaded, he is in his usual position, sleeping. Let me know if there's a problem and I will try to fix it!

CHERYL such a good idea to have a TV set up for him, I am happy the kids are helping out with your yard, that will also take some stress from you both ((((hugs))))
SANDRA I like the pork chops from the shoulder too, I find the loin ones either cook too dry or are too raw/moist. No happy medium, great that the family were able to pop in for a visit.
THERESA I tried to do a blog, no idea where it is, I guess if I remember the email address I used I can find it LOL Our paper work is almost done, the solicitor/bank has locked bank accounts now and I am so glad we don't have any of the hassles out have with rights property etc. and we are as well prepared as possible for Tuesday, hopefully the family will behave themselves.
HOLLY so sorry for the death in your family. They are always painful even if expected!
JANET did you spend lots at retreat, any new things you saw and want to try??
INDY having the house all set is my plan this weekend, I want it all perfect before the beginning of the week, so much clutter around, and the kitchen benches are a mess, hopefully I will be able to keep everything put away properly once it's done, I have been slack over the last few months, and keeping my jigsaw puzzle out just makes it look really messy.
THANK YOU all for the anniversary wishes, it was 55 years, sometimes it feels like 10 other times 110 LOL
The Mr forgot, but he's excused this time, although he COULD have written it in his diary.
today is ANZAC Day, honouring our veterans, it's a beautiful celebration with th last post played in many locations an an early (dawn) service, so you have to get to the city by 4am if you want to be able to see the major one on Sydney, most clubs also do a service often at dawn, but some do at mid-day and have local school representatives attend, school captain etc.
I have the first load of washing on, and I am part way through tidying our bedroom, it's got out of hand too. Too easy to dump things on the dresser LOL So it will be clear and polished in about an hour, after I vac the room as well LOL
I had sewing yesterday and will do again tomorrow, so I need to get most of this done today, the boys came to the club with us last night, and Gary said he will come to ours on Tuesday to go to the funeral with us, Megan,Gary and John will drive separately, we can't all fit in one car comfortably, Dean has Year 12 retreat, but both boys have written a lovely sentence commenting on sis's life, John will read both, I just typed them up - as well a the poem from Megan, she and I will both take copies, just in case on of us forgets LOL

Trish, no deaths in my family. Are you thinking of Theresa’s uncle?
Cheryl, Ralph uses vinegar for =26pxweed killer, a stronger strength than we cook with. He gloves and masks.
Eddie got offered the job in the ER! He’s very excited. He graduates mid May, I don’t know if he has a date yet for his boards.

TWO-HEADED HEADLINES......
1. ORGAN FESTIVAL ENDS IN SMASHING CLIMAX.
2. BRITISH LEFT WAFFLES ON FAULKLAND ISLANDS.
ANOTHER SUNNY START AND IN THE 50S LATER BUT WILL CLOUD UP. RAIN IS IN OUR FUTURE.
THERESA.......GREAT THAT YOU NOW HAVE A BLOG. I WILL LOVE CHECKING IN. I KNEW IMMEDIATELY THAT SIMBA WAS STAFFORDSHIRE TERRIER. HE HAS THE LOOK SO HE MUST BE 90% THAT BREED.
TRISH.......THE WORRY AND WORK TO GET THINGS DONE IS NEAR. SOON YOU CAN GET BACK TO NORMALCY.
MY BUFFET WARMER WORKS GREAT. MY CASSEROLE KEPT WARM ALL THRU THE POTLUCK. I ENJOYED MYSELF AS DID OTHERS. THERE WERE ONLY 11 OF US THIS TIME. THERE WERE LEFTOVERS AND I BROUGHT SEVERAL COTTAGE CHEESE CARTONS FOR OTHERS TO TAKE HOME DOGGIE BOWLS. THEY WERE SCOOPED RIGHT UP. I STILL HAVE LOTS OF CASSEROLE LEFT FOR THIS WEEK. WE ALL MAKE TOO MUCH. WE HAVE TO LEARN TO CUT BACK. NEXT TIME I DO A CASSY IT WILL BE A 9 BY 9.
I ATE MEATLOAF, MASHED TATERS, GRAVY, SPAGHETTI IN TOMATO SAUCE, MAC N CHEESE, SALAD, AND A DINNER ROLL. I TOOK A BROWNIE FOR MY DESSERT. I DO NOT EAT CHEESECAKE OF WHICH THERE WAS A LOVELY ONE. WE BROUGHT OUR OWN DRINKS AND FOR THOSE THAT DIDN'T THERE WERE A FEW BOTTLES OF WATER AND PEPSI IN THE FRIDGE. I WAS A GOOD FRIENDLY FUN GROUP.
MONDAY WE HAVE APT INSPECTIONS. THIS IS THE ONE WHERE THE GOVT CHECKS TO BE SURE THINGS ARE WORKING PROPERLY AND WE ARE SATISFIED WITH THE MAINTENANCE. I AM.
I MISS GARDENING SO PLEASE LADIES, LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GROWING AND PLANTING. A FEW PICTURES WOULD HELP. I LIVE VICARIOUSLY THRU OTHERS.
NOT MUCH TO DO TODAY, JUST A FEW THINGS ON MY SATURDAY LIST. THEN ITS SEWING, READING, PUZZLE WORK, AND WATCHING TV AFTER I GET IN MY DAILY LAPS. I HAVE LEFTOVERS FOR MY MEALS SO I AM ALL SET FOR AN EASY DAY.
STAY SAFE AND ENJOY YOUR DAY. HUGS, QB S ![]()

QB, sounds like a good assortment of foods and a nice social time. When we have our small group, we always share the leftovers if there are any. With the hostess providing the main dish and the drinks (too hard to tote those around) and the others each bringing one side, we often eat up most of it. When our old friend, Dewey, who just passed could no longer come, someone always took a plate to him, which he loved.
Shena & Tom, next door, "inherited her dad's hens" and have enough eggs now, so we're back to buying them, again. However, the grocery where we often shop had eggs for 88 cents/doz. this week and when Howard stopped there yesterday, he bought 4 doz. Tom just brought over the 2 doz. I had ordered for them, so we will be eating eggs...eggs...eggs. Oh well, I've been wanting to make both deviled eggs and potato salad, so they'll get used and they keep well.![]()
Theresa, I had no trouble accessing your new blog. Loved the pic of Simba. We had such a bad experience with the dog next door that I've said some hard things here about her, same breed. I'm sorry for that because I know they can be and are wonderful pets. In fact, their other dog is the daughter of the mean one and she's not threatening to us. They are a powerfully-built dog so no wonder when he yanked you just right your shoulder was injured. And how do you prevent that...those things happen so fast.
I need a can of plain navy or great northern beans for my supper. I wonder if I could rinse off the sauce from a can of Van Camp's pork and beans? I'm going to try ML's recipe for cassoulet made with smoked sausage. 1st time for me. Maybe I'll ask Shena. We used to borrow things from each other all the time. Our practice, not rule, was: it became a gift and we need not bother to return it. But if it was a more expensive 'borrow', we would.
Andrew is still in Majorca on vacation. The pics he's sent are gorgeous. Knowing him, he won't want to come home. At least when he was little, he always got attached to wherever they were and was sad, sometimes cried, when they had to leave.
Trish, will be thinking of you on your Tues., our Monday. Life will...and won't change for you. For all the aggravations and trouble with his brother, I know you and Warwick loved her and did your very best for her in all ways. BTW, I've always wondered what her given name was unless that's too personal a question that you don't want to share here...![]()
Off to carry on and accomplish something. Have a good afternoon, evening and sweet dreams.

Afternoon y'all! ![]()
We have this weird thing coming from the sky today, I think they call it rain. It's been so long since I have seen it I wasn't sure that is what it was! LOL! My car has been rinsed from pollen, she is no longer green, it did not rain enough to get under the trees. I will take whatever we can get. Hopefully the south Georgia fires get enough rain to help the firemen battle the flames! ![]()
QB we only planted tomatoes and bell peppers. We always add marigolds to the garden, to help with the bugs. Wish it helped with the deer. The fawns will nip at the garden plants, not realizing they don't like it until they get a mouthful! A live and learn for them, but can ruin the plants! ![]()
Indy at Simba's last vet appointment he weighed 72 pounds! He is strong but still puppy like! ![]()
Simba must have either heard something that scared him, last night, or had a bad dream. He kept trying to get in our bed. Todd went to another bedroom and Simba hopped in with me. He even burrowed under the covers, so something frightened him. We say if anyone breaks into the house he will either give them a rope to play with him, or run and hide! ![]()
Finally mom's taxes are ready to file!!!! I signed some papers today and will scan and send them shortly!!!! One thing off my plate! Love it! I think the only thing outstanding is the oil company. The woman I have been assigned is rude, and acts like "why are you asking me these questions" She tells me I will be contacted when they complete the process. I will not be updating you! So, I will be a polite squeaky wheel! ![]()
Need to go scan and send the papers I signed. ![]()
You are now caught up on my little corner of the world! ![]()

Judy, Heather has hens, tho they are now about 7 years old, and don’t lay regularly. She said eggs are good for 100 days.
Great nephew Connor came and installed the electric insert to our fireplace. It looks so great! Silly young man wouldn’t charge me, so I gave him some cash and told him to take his fiancée out to lunch.
It’s rainy and dreary out, and chilly. I had a grocery delivery, since I was low on milk and berries. I’m going to make tacos for dinner.
Theresa, I saw the Simba pix. Did you name him?

Sandra, for spectacular gardens, you can't do better than where I was two weeks ago. The Dutch call Keukenhof "the most beautiful spring garden in the world." It's hard to argue with that.
It's only open from March 19 - May 10 this year. After that, they dig up every single one of the 7 million bulbs and throw them out. In September, the 40 gardeners start anew. They call it "lasagna planting." One layer of soil, then the late blooming tulips. Another layer of soil, then the mid-season bloomers. Another layer of soil, then the early season bloomers. Then the final layer of soil. It takes about 90 days.
The gardens start blooming with daffodils and hyacinths. The tulips start to come a couple of weeks later. I timed our visit so that we could see both daffodils and tulips. We had to go twice as our first time was a timed stop of only 2 hours. Not nearly enough so we went back 5 days later. By then the azaleas had bloomed. Little tiny blossoms, less than an inch in diameter.
Go check out the link.

I met Greg for lunch today at Longhorn. It was really good, but it always is!
Yesterday was Sadie Grace’s 7th birthday. I stopped by their new place to give Emily a housewarming gift. I felt awful because I didn’t know it. I wish Gary had reminded me.
Theresa, i’ll check out your blob later. I started one years ago, but quit because I didn’t think I would keep up with it.
Carol, I will check out your link later. That is so interesting! I wonder why they don’t give those discarded bulbs to the local people?
I have a new plan to organize my fridge. I’ve bought airtight containers that won’t be here until Monday. I’ll use the meat drawer for another produce drawer. AI says it’s better to keep your meat in airtight containers than in a drawer. I buy a lot of produce. I bought a one tier lazy Susan for pickles and relish and another one for sauces, like steak sauce, soy sauce, etc. I think it’s going to be my best organization.! I just have to put things back in their dedicated spaces, lol.
