Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Today I got a good report from the oral surgeon. No infection and no exposed bone. He wants me to stay off Fosamax for 3 more months. I don''t know if I want to start it back again. My dr said "we will talk in May."

I stopped at Chickfila on the way home. I threw away the bread and brought some chicken home to Gracie. I went in Ingles to get ground beef, as they are less expensive than Walmart. I've always liked their meat better. I saw 5 ears of corn in the produce dept. for $9.98!

I finished a small snowman painting today. I like it and it was fun to do. I'll do laundry and house chores tomorrow. Don't have to be anywhere.

Holly, I love potato soup and love to fix it. I'll check your recipe out.

I forgot to say Emily was a school bus driver for years. That's how she hurt her shoulder and had to have two surgeries. She will like this better than working in an office, and it's not full time.

While in Boaz, AL, Caleb got an invite to the USSA Alabama state games. He also was selected Ambassador for Pitchers Only, whatever that means, lol. The Florida trip is coming up (Panama City I think?) and in June it's Puerto Rico. Too much for this old lady.

Judy, we went to Hawaii in 2017 with Greg and Carter and stayed at Disney's Alani Resort. At that time, Greg had a Disney timeshare. We could have never afforded that. He wants to go back to Hawaii for Thanksgiving this year, but I'm not so sure my knees can do that trip again. It's a long flight.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Thanks for the info on "mid west" I was kind of thinking it meant the middle of USA but just to the western side, I didn't realise it meant right up. We have so few states and our country is described as north, south, east west and far north LOL Oh forgot centre, oops!!

DEVONNE that is good news for your teeth I take Prolia and dread having a major problem, but it would have to wait till I could get clear of the Prolia, so glad the dentist could fix my broken tooth, even though I am a coward, he gave me an injection and it was done in around 40 mins.

SANDRA your work is so pretty, I do admire the wall hangings, you have quite a talent for both the art and colour selection.

INDY  I need ML to come help me toss out, I know Megan would do it, but the Mr would explode,  he likes to keep 'stuff' LOL There would be a lot of yelling.

HOLLY you should be getting more warm weather by now?? It seems like the seasons are slow to change these days, I am really looking forward to my cooler days. And the rain keeps falling though, it's been another day of rain on and off.

JANET good to hear you could get out, even if it wasn't to your liking, I have seen some gorgeous quilted jackets, was going to try to do one, there is a great pattern out I could get, but I know I just don't have the time anyway. They had a gorgeous one for sale in the mall, but the price was ridiculous, I just couldn't justify it.

STRINGS hope you can relax and you feel better, is Daryl OK, hopefully no more falls.

DEVONNE I don't think I'd like just potato soup, I make one with potatoes, but leeks, carrots, corn and bacon in it, so not really potato, good for Caleb, I agree on the travel, we have no big plans other than the moment, but we might again - one day!

My sis rang me early this morning they found her car last night, police chase that was first called off for safety, then started up again, 3 girls 16yrs, just disgusting, they apparently were driving at 140kph (around 70+ mph?) at one point, you can't get a licence here till you are 17, and they were stopped finally around 9pm. They are still doing forensics on it, so no idea when she will get it back. She's just happy it's not damaged, or they don't think so, apart from the wheels, they will need alignment at least, she'll check it over when they return it.
The boys came over today, Dean a bit later, he had a Business Studies exam, and he is doing his boat license tonight, she's not happy about that, it's a school night, and he has physics work to finish. I nagged John to get them home so he could at least get some done before he went out tonight. LOL It was raining - again - and John was going to wait till it stopped, I kicked them out - mean Nana.

I need to get my nails done tomorrow, and also make a couple batches of Corn Flake biscuits/cookies. They are quick to make, but Dean will also finish early tomorrow, and I need to get Corn Flakes, forgot to add it to my list last shop. So I have to figure out my time frame.

Turns out we have a bad blower motor….could take a week or so to have it replaced.  Better than a new heat pump.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Trish, our temperatures have been ranging 40’s-60’s, which is normal for this time here.

I cut another 6 yards of flannel into 8”squares today. And the counted xs is moving along nicely. Ralph stopped and got me a raspberry macchiato on his way home from breakfast with the Veterans.

Trish, I added leftover cubed ham to the potato soup, and some pepper and paprika. I’m happy with how it turned out.

Devonne, how’s the home schooling going?

I have a lot I could say about home schooling vs in school.. Some good, some bad but I don’t want to start a fire storm, if you know what I mean.

Janet, I have no idea what you mean, as long as you’re talking educational pros and cons.

Sigh. Manda’s FIL got his gall bladder out. Came home and raked leaves. Some people have no sense, common or otherwise.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Trish, glad her car was found. What kind of punishment will those young girls get?

My potato soup is simple...potatoes (cooked first in water and drained), saute chopped onions and garlic, add a little flour and whole milk until it thickens, lots of shredded cheese, butter, salt and pepper to taste and a teaspoon of bacon grease gives it a lot of flavor. Bacon and cheese on top. I use green onions if I have them. I don't like my potatoes to be chunky. No measuring; just add ingredients until I like the taste.

Holly, the school talked to H about the kids. E said she was pi--ed. When they got back from Texas, the kids were in home school. H gives them assignments while at work. They are to be finished when she gets home. I guess G (and now E since she will be there more) will make sure it gets done.

I tried to sew these strips together Tuesday night, but my machine wouldn't cooperate. I had these strips in bags and they are to be sewn together and then cut into 3" pieces. I changed the thread and the bobbin and it works like a charm. I only sat for 30 minutes earlier and did 5 rows. I'm headed to do 5 more rows before I go to bed. It's been about 1 1/2 years before I've sewn anything. I did remember how to thread my machine, lol.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Where are our morning people?

Devonne, that doesn’t sound like teaching, but again, best to stay out of it.

I did more cutting of flannel into 8 inch squares, of pieces a yard or less. I have a stack of 2 yard pieces to be made into oversized receiving blankets.

Devonne, your potato soup sounds good. I like using the shredded hash browns because you just dump them into the crockpot.

We had the landscaping company that does our lawn out to see about having them revitalize the two big flower beds out front.

Heather is off Easter, so we’re going to do a brunch, since that went so well on Christmas. She’s working the day before.

I started taking down St Patrick and putting up Easter/spring decorations.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Holly, I agree! Time will tell.

I finished sewing the strips together for my 2008 quilt, lol. They need ironing before I cut them in 3" pieces. There are 13 strips. I have a small pressing board that I keep close to my machine, but I can't find it.

While in the sewing room, I fixed my mouse...without Greg's help, lol! It wasn't connected to Bluetooth. I finished watching a Netflix movie, Love & Death, while working on the puzzle. A good movie with lots of good 70's music, but not a movie when kids are around!

Here is the snowman I painted. Wish I had started years ago and I would be so much more experienced! I like it.

I needed something to protect my clothes and Sandra suggested a smock. Thanks, Sandra! That was a great idea. It has 3 front pockets. Now you can see where all my fat is...goes right below the waist, lol.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Sandra didn't get much sleep last night. She was up until 6 am and I was up until 5:30. Those nights make for a tiring next day.

Here is my peacock background. I painted it 4 times before I liked it, lol. It was initially a picture of a jar vase with flowers.

Here is how I transferred it to the canvas.

It's finished. I'm happy with how it turned out since I didn't know what I was doing, lol.

It's supposed to have some navy blue circle things in the light blue areas...not sure if I will add it or not.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

YES, I HAD INSOMNIA.  FELL ASLEEP AROUND 6 AM AND WOKE AT 8 ISH.  THEN WAS SOOOO TIRED.  DECIDED TO GIVE THE ODT A MISS THIS MORNING.  TRIED TO CATCH A COUPLE OF SHORT NAPS DURING THE DAY.
SORRY LADIES.  I TRY TO GET HERE EVERY MORNING BUT YOU KNOW HOW IT IS.  SOMETIMES ITS NOT POSSIBLE.
WILL TRY TO DO BETTER TOMORROW.
DEVONNE.....I LOVE YOUR ART WORKS.  SO LOVELY.  YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB WITH THEM.  IT WILL BE NICE TO SEE YOUR QUILT PROJECT NEXT.
HAVE A NICE NITE LADIES.  HUGS, QB S

IRISH BULL.......
1.  A MAN CANNOT BE IN TWO PLACES AT ONCE, UNLESS HE IS A BIRD.
2.  I MARVEL AT THE STRENGTH OF HUMAN WEAKNESS.

ITS A FUNNY DAY.  SOMETIMES SUNNY, SOMETIMES CLOUDY.  BUT IN THE 40S SO ITS OK.

ITS A NORMAL SATURDAY FOR ME AGAIN.  I SLEPT WELL AND I FEEL GOOD.  I STARTED A NEW JIGSAW PUZZLE, I PUT MY TATER TOT SAUSAGE CASSY IN THE OVEN.  ITS A DIFFERENT RECIPE SO WE WILL SEE WHICH ONE MATT AND I LIKE BETTER.  THIS ONE HAS FRENCH ONION DIP IN IT.

YES, ITS GROCERY SHOPPING DAY FOR MY SON.  WE HAVE LUNCH TOGETHER AND CHAT AND HE WILL PUT TOGETHER MY NEW PEDESATAL FAN FOR ME.  I WAS GOING TO DO IT, BUT WHY NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HIS MUSCLES.  SOMETIMES TIGHTENING A SCREW DOES NOT GO AS WELL AS IT SHOULD.
I HOPE HE GETS THE CHICKEN TENDERS I HAVE ON MY LIST.  SOMETIMES THEY RUN OUT.  CROSSING MY FINGERS.  THEY MAKE THEM SO TASTY.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I WILL DO AFTER HE LEAVES.  PROBABLY SOME SEWING.  I NEED TO SATIN-STITCH THE OUTLINES OF MY SHE-DRAGON BEFORE I CAN START PENCIL SHADING.

I WISH YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Today is going to be the warmest day of the year so far, 82 degrees! If Greg and Carter don't come, I'll be outside planting my bulbs.

I'm trying to post every day too, but it doesn't always work out.

I'm cleaning out my fridge, my worse chore. I needed a break. I have a sirloin tip roast in the crockpot for dinner. Will add carrots and potatoes later. Already added the onions.

I'm fixing pizza for lunch on a low carb tortilla wrap. I brown it first before adding the toppings.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Sounds like an early cooking day for some of us--I just put Holly's potato soup in the crockpot.
Got my hair cut yesterday and  afterwards, we went to the grocery for the fixin's.  I started to tell my beautician the ingreds. for the soup and she started smiling.  Her fellow worker had just made it for them and they loved it.  Can't wait for supper.  Usually if Holly and Ralph like something...we do too!  Thanks Holly.

I have turned the furnace off and have the sunroom slider open.  However, there's a slight breeze coming in and it's chilly.  It's overcast so with no sun, it's still pretty cool out.  Think I'll close that door.

Devonne,  your paintings are impressive for one who's just begun.  I'm amazed.  The possibilities could be endless.  Thanks for always taking the time to show us whatever it is you're doing.

Howard is going upstairs to watch all the basketball games going on right now.  Yippee!  He usually camps down here in front of MY TV.   He got up earlier than me this morning and I heard him out here coughing.  More than usual since he takes all these meds.  It suddenly occurred to me that since it seems worse, and he's been upstairs more,   could he be and have been allergic to the bird all these years?  We've had the bird 18 yrs. next month.  Cockatiels produce copious amounts of dander and keeping it cleaned up is a chore that gets put off too often.  I just wonder????

I brought it up to him and we'll see.  He refuses to give the bird up, but there's one vet here that will take unwanted pets.  At least, when we had the babies, we took one there and one of the techs was tickled to take it.  But, an 18 yr. old, I don't know and Howard feels it wouldn't be fair to him, now.  But many people have had to make that choice when it affects their health.
We both would love to get a cat, but I'm seriously allergic to them and my two kids are worse.  I told Howard he could buy me an expensive hairless cat but he says that's not happening!

Our new neighbors, with the 6 boys and 1 baby girl, started building their new house, Thurs.
He, a former math teacher turned contractor will do it all himself.  They started digging with  several lge. implements.  Something for us two old  f a r t s to watch until the trees leaf out and we won't be able to see anymore. Their driveway bisects their 8 acres and happily for us, they're building on the far side of the driveway.  So we and they will have more privacy.

With that, I'll close and carry on.  Have a good day and weekend.  Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Devonne, your paintings are very impressive!  You have a natural talent for sure.  I can do paint by numbers, and that is it!  lol!

Judy, I would like a cat, too, but am allergic.  Not terribly, but runny nose and eyes, etc.  Not fun.  We had a cat for 17 years and after she was gone, I realized it was she who was the cause of my "sinus" problems.   I would not have gotten rid of her even if I had found out sooner.  She was pretty independent and did not come around too often.

I make potato soup, but keep it very chunky.  We all like it that way.  I like the loaded potato soup, but the rest of the family only want potatoes.

Dean is doing just ok.  Some days good other not so good.  They are still checking for some sort of autoimmune disease. Please scroll on by if you don't want to hear his aliments.   His ears are blood red, itchy and now full of pus; his nose is so dry and cracked and his lips look like they have been punched and are so swollen.  It is difficult for  him to eat.  They are looking at  something called Relapsing Polychondritis but the low white blood count does not go along with that.    So, he is just going day by day.  He seems so frail and this is such a change for us.  One month ago, he was working out at the gym five days a week.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

CHERYL I am so so sorry for the news for Dean, my heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you both, I hope they can get him the care he needs, you take care of you too ((((hugs)))) That came on very suddenly, you must both be in shock!

DEVONNE  those paintings are extremely good, both you and SANDRA have a good eye for design and colour. That is very good for a 'newbie' well done. I do love your snowman, he looks cheeky!

SANDRA your hangings are so cute, they would welcome everyone to a home, I have always loved dragons, fairies and you did a wonderful job on your victorian ladies. Hope the good noghts sleep stays with you, horrid for those awful ones of insomnia, I get them, and I know how it feels. Hope the new cassy gets approval!

INDY interesting that it may be your bird for H's coughing, we know that both Pete and Warwick have problems with Megan's dogs, they take antihistimines before they visit for long periods, we didn't have any trouble with Buddy, being poodle he was fine, but W used to get itchy eyes with our Persian cat.

We had our fundraiser for Blood Cancer yesterday, we raised over $6000. pretty good for a small group, we had our training first, then we watched as all our coaches went through their sets, Pete came for a bit, they thought he was a 'guest'   at first, they were 1/2 expecting a local bike rider to give a small talk on exercise etc, when I saw Sara talking to him I realised they might have him mixed up with someone.

Then the Mr brought home a large leg of lamb from his bowls afternoon, so I am just beginning to prep things now for a roast dinner, I will make some flummery - it's just part set jelly with whipped cream, but I can send most to the boys.

Pete has been cutting down one of our Maraya trees. I have resisted for along time, but gave up, one is mostly down, the other will be in the next few weeks, they will not go completely, they will be kept to very small shrubs instead, makes more sense really, those little white flowers are lethal for hayfever, and the darn things bloom constantly LOL

I am tired, I need to get my sewing room sorted, and I need to work on my blocks, I have been lazy and not done anything, I also need to call one of my old friends, it's her birthday today, and then maybe my brother, I think he will be home from his cruise.
