Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Belated anniversary and birthday wishes to PATTY and CHERYL & DEAN, I am so sorry I am so late

It's been an interesting last few days, sis had her car stolen  from right outside the apartments where she works looking after disabled patients, Lucy is blind and was having a meltdown on being transferred to hospital, and some enterprising little wretch decided that was a good time to take the car, then sis's latest package was delivered to a suburb near me so I went and got it, might have gone badly and I should have taken someone with me, but it ended well and I got the package, worth $400 - yikes - so lucky it went to someone who would return it.

So it's been a crazy kind of few days, lots of phone calls, driving and some good luck as well.
The Mr came 2nd in his tournament, and was pretty happy, he is in another tomorrow, so I will be figuring out my week - again - without him.

I took myself to see the documentary Elvis today, it was great, I was so glad they didn't show him in his last days that was sad. I have always loved his voice, especially his gospel songs, and that grin is infectious, Lisa Marie was so much like him, those eyes!!!
There were quite a few in the movie theatre, I was surprised, I got a recliner seat for a treat.

I got a message when I left to say my grocery order would be up to 2 hours late, It was due around 3pm, but they filled it and messaged me as usual before 3pm, must have had a staff problem earlier.
After the movie I stopped at our local mall and ran into Megan & Danielle, they had finished their brunch and were shopping, I had coffee and a pastry then came home, not long after that the grocery order was ready, so that's been my day today, not busy really, but full anyway.

I need to get myself organised for dinner, not really hungry, but I am sure they will want something, maybe the  chicken I got wth some home and plum sauce.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Judy, those tornadoes were too close for comfort! So sorry about your power outages. I keep a flashlight in my bedroom in case I need it.

We are under a "freeze warning." I bought dahlias, gladiolus and day lilies to plant, but my weather app says in the 20's three nights this week and the 30's one night. I will wait until it warms up Friday. My Yoshino tree is blooming so I'll try to cover it with sheets. It's gotten taller, so not sure I can do this. I hate for these blooms to freeze.

Greg visited today and we went to Outback. We talked about travel and our upcoming cruise in September. He has Carter for Thanksgiving week and discussed going to Hawaii again. I'm not sure I am up to going to Hawaii. Will need to see if the gel shots help my knees.

Sandra, tornadoes aren't too early if we are getting Spring like weather and 70's temps. It's perfect weather for them, but April is the worse month here for us.

Trish, what a shame someone stole your sis's vehicle. Have they found it yet?

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Pounding rain all night. Now the T storms have started. It’s 60* now dropping to 30* this evening. They are also predicting up to 2” hail stones! The schools here are closed due to the severe storm prediction. Hopefully, no power loss.
And of course I have 2 appts today. One at the ENT. I had to wait 6 weeks to get an appt which I may have to cancel.

ITS THE START OF A NEW WEEK FOR ME.  MY MONTHLY CHORE LIST WON'T BE SO BAD THIS TIME AROUND.  I PLAN TO GET IT ALL DONE AS SCHEDULED AND THEN MAYBE WORK THE JIGSAW PUZZLE AND DO SOME READING.  I AM CLOSE TO FINISHING MY LATEST BOOK, FASHION FAUX PAW BY JUDI McCOY, THE DOG WALKER WHO CAN 'TALK' TO THE DOGS.   I AM ENJOYING IT AND THINK I KNOW WHO THE KILLER IS.  WE SHALL SEE.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

We had bad weather last night. tornado watch from 4 to 10. you could hear the wind whistling. it moved out rather fast. I haven’t heard yet if a tornado touched down anywhere.. They delayed schools opening for two hours. There was red and purple on the weather map but it didn’t look that bad, I have seen much worse.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

We had some nasty weather yesterday too. Tornado watch for several hours but none developed that I know of. Lots of wind and rain. Temps yesterday in the 60’s and this morning in the 20’s with wind chill in teens and some flurries. Prediction of 80 by end of the week! Crazy!!!

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

I have a question for our midwestern ladies. Where does the Midwest start and end? I think it’s after PA, but not sure about Ohio.

We’re expecting storms tonight, but mostly west of us. We went out early to Aldi for a few things that I don’t want to order from Walmart. Eggs and raspberries, LOL.

Dinner was leftover ham and scalloped potatoes.

I forgot to make the font bigger. Trish, will you please enlarge it?

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Holly, I am in Ohio and we consider ourselves Midwest.  So, I guess that is right?  Sometimes the weather people say "Upper Ohio Valley area". lol!

It was 70 degrees and lovely yesterday.  Today is cold, snowing and blowing!!  Such a tough drop in temp for sure.  My daffodils came to bloom yesterday due to all the sunshine and now snow is covering the poor things.  It rained most of the night and snowed most of today.  We do have a little on the ground, but not much because the ground was pretty warm.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

SANDRA have you used the colour pencils that can be used as water colour, I din't know if they are even available any more, I hope you guessed the murderer LOL Sometimes in those stories I am so far off it's incredible, I love the Agatha Christie ones, often the clues are right there, you just don't "see" them till too late.

CHERYL/HOLLY  so Ohio is considered mid west?, where would it the boundary be to the north and east? I am trying to visualise, it. I know where Ohio is, we stood on the banks of the Ohio river, she (guide) called it O-Hi  LOL

HOLLY done LOL I changed a few fonts today, I forgot to do it last week, sorry to everyone!

We don't seem to be getting closer to autumn it's still hot during the day, and into the evening, but it does cool down at bit by morning

DEVONNE yikes, that is strong, and NOPE on the car, it's either been stripped or taken interstate. who knows, she realises she should have got the tracking activated on it, her hubby picked it up and didn't listen about everything when he got it for her but I gave her some air-tags and she will hide one in her next car, she has a hire car, so she's ok, just all the clothes she had in it, because she sleep over so much at the apartments.

CHERYL  a quiet time is needed for you both I hope Dean feels better every day, wish they could figure it out, the bone marrow test isn't pleasant, but necessary, hope he gets through it OK, I was advised t take a couple analgesics about an hour before I had mine, just paracetamol, they do a numbing injection first though, so it's not too painful.

MARYLOU that is a big range of temps for you, it also brings on the 'bug' season, so be careful, I am NOT looking for3ward to 'flu season this year.

I had training this morning, then just tidying up the house, I cleaned most of it yesterday, I also worked on my jig saw, it's not as fun as I usually find them, I think it's the picture.

Megan rang me on her way to her next school this afternoon, Dean had contacted her, he had a pen leak all over his white shirt, she wanted to know what to use, I remembered that the guys in store when I was a rep for grocery had that problem when they had to wipe down the texta/pen marks they put onto shelving and it got onto shirts, they  used hair spray of all crazy things, so she's  going to try it, can't hurt the shirt is ruined anyway. I'll find out tomorrow.....tomorrow is also an emergency dentist,  broke part of a tooth off today, they can fit me in tomorrow afternoon.

Of course it's one week before my scheduled clean was to be and I had just moved it to 2 weeks from now as the dentist was going to be away that day, so no idea if he'll do that as well, maybe see how long it takes to fix the tooth. I hate going there, so would rather it was all done and dusted on one visit LOL Coward that I am!!

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Well I canceled my ENT appointment yesterday because of the horrendous weather report….t storms, tornado, hail, heavy rain, etc.  They rescheduled for 2 weeks from now.  Ok, but they were so far off with the prediction. By the time I would have gone, the sun was out! Grr.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

EXCUSES, EXCUSES.....
1.  JOHN HAS BEEN ABSENT BECAUSE HE HAD TWO TEETH TAKEN OFF HIS FACE.
2.  CARLOS WAS ABSENT YESTERDAY BECAUSE HE WAS PLAYING FOOTBALL.  HE WAS HURT IN THE GROWING PART.

SUNNY AND IN THE 40S HERE TODAY.  I HAD MY WINDOW OPEN ALL NITE SINCE IT WAS IN THE 50S DURING THE EVENING.

I FORGET WHO HERE CAN GET FRESH EGGS FROM THEIR NEIGHBOR.  LOCALLY HERE, PASTURE-RAISED HENS' EGGS ARE GOING FOR $6.99 A DOZEN. REGULAR LARGE EGGS ARE $1.99.  QUITE A DIFFERENCE IN PRICE.
IT WAS SO RAINY YESTERDAY THAT I BLAME IT ON MY DRAGGING STATE.  I DID NOTHING BUT READ AND WATCH TV.  OH YES, I BAKED A CHICKEN BREAST AND MADE PASTA RONI TO GO WITH IT FOR SUPPER.  THAT'S IT.  I SNOOZED OFF AND ON ALL DAY.  FELT SO TIRED.  TODAY THE SUN IS SHINING AND I FEEL REALLY GOOD.  WILL GET BACK ON MY CHORE SCHEDULE TODAY.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Warm weather again this weekend. I am tired of all the rain.

Today is Emily's last day at Hobby Lobby. She was going to work as a bus dispatcher for our county. Now she's going to be a bus driver for special needs kids. She can keep the bus on their property.

Last weekend Caleb (my great GS) played baseball in Boaz, AL. He won the MVP award. This weekend they will be in Chattanooga, TN. I do plan to go to a few of his at home games.

I need to do laundry, then I'll start on my next painting project, which is a small snowman. I got the cutout quilt pieces out last night and read the pattern. I thought it was 10 years old, but the pattern is dated 2008, lol. I'll do some sewing on that today, but I have a lot of pressing to do first.

I have been cheating on intermittent fasting, but I'm now doing better. I lost .9 lb. last week and had cheesecake Sunday!  I was so surprised. I knew I had gained 2 lbs.! I'm 1/2 lb. away from my next goal. My friend is trying to get me to do the weight loss shots with her. I told her I'll keep that as a backup plan, but for now I'm sticking with low carb and intermittent fasting.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

I always have thought the Midwest started at Wisconsin across Minnesota to the Dakotas then south to Nebraska and Kansas.  This would include Illinois, Iowa and Missouri.  I looked it up and Michigan, Indiana and Ohio are included.  So I'll expand my boundries!🤗

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

I just put a crockpot potato soup in the recipe thread, really easy and was really good.

Trish, I would guess the northern border of the Midwest would be either the Great Lakes or the Canadian border. East of Ohio is PA and NY, so I guess Ohio is the eastern border. I don’t know about the southern border.

My new Apple Neo is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow! I got it in pink, the citrus was a screaming yellow.
Happy St Patrick’s Day! My grandmother’s people were from Ballycastle in County Antrim. She came over around 1918 with her sister Charlotte. They almost missed the boat because they were getting their hair done!

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Happy St Patrick's Day to all!, especially Holly.  I am not Irish at all. My ancestors were English and Dutch from what I could find out.  According to my grandpa, we are from KENTUCKY!!  and that is it.  lol!!  His parents moved to Ohio for work when he was 15 and he never considered Ohio home.  It was always Kentucky, but he lived here, married here, raised a family here and died here.

Trish, thanks for the info on the bone marrow biopsy.  I will tell Dean about the analgesecis.  He is scheduled a week from tomorrow.  His white blood count is still at 2.3 something, which is more than half of what they would like to see.

We have crazy weather.  It was 70 on Sunday and today it was 25 and blowing and snowing.  We had a 23 car pile up just a few miles from me.  Dean said when he came out of the lab (blood work) it was snowing so hard he could barely see.  He was a mile from the pile up.  Must have been a white out.

Amelia gifted me an adult coloring book for my birthday, but I do not color in a book.  I do color on my tablet.  I was going to give the book to Katie since she does, but I don't want to insult Amelia.

Devonne congrats to Caleb!  That is a lot of travel.  Hopefully he can get a college scholarship with all of his talent in that area.  My friend's daughter played tennis and got a full scholarship because of it.

I made turkey vegetable soup with the turkey carcass and we had that for supper.  Dean has major sores on his lips and mouth, so the soup was easy for him to eat.  Dr said it was not Thrush but just infection due to his low immune system.  He gave him a pill and ordered some special mouthwash to be prepared at a "compound pharmacy".  Hopefully he gets some relief.

BRR!  cold!!  I just went out and put some additional feed and dried worms in the bird feeders as the robins are back and snow is on the ground.  They don't usually eat seed, but will when no other food is available.  They do eat those worms though.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

21* here!   Hope it warms up before I go out later…back to the auto repair place.  I keep getting “battery” warnings but DH rested it and it’s ok?  Maybe it’s a wiring issue or?  He did see a squirrel up under the car a few days ago?  I hate this car.  I wish I had my Rav back. 😞
I went to my guild meeting yesterday.  The speaker did a presentation on quilted clothing. Yuck.  No interest at all.  A waste of time but at least I got out and went to lunch with a friend before the meeting.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

YOGI BERRA SAYS.......
1.  THE SCENE IS DULL.  TELL HIM TO PUT MORE LIFE INTO HIS DYING.
2.  THIS BOOK HAS TOO MUCH PLOT AND NOT ENOUGH STORY.

ITS SUNNY HERE BUT COLD ONLY IN THE 20S.

ITS BINGO DAY SO I DON'T COOK.  BUT I HAVE ENOUGH LEFTOVERS FOR THE WHOLE DAY.  I MADE MY STEAK AND MASHED AND SENT SOME POTATOES TO MY NEIGHBOR NAN WHO LOVES THEM.  SHE IN TURN GAVE ME A CONTAINER OF SALAD AND 3 BROWNIE BITES.  BROWNIES ARE ONE OF THE CAKES THAT I WILL EAT.  AND THEY WERE GREAT AROUND TEN P.M. LAST NITE.

DEVONNE.......CONGRATS TO CALEB ON HIS MVP AWARD.  HE MUST BE A GOOD PLAYER.  IF HE KEEPS IT UP HE MAY GET A SPORTS SCHOLORSHIP.
I HOPE EMILY LIKES BEING A BUS DRIVER.  IT WILL BE A COMPLETE DIFFERENT THING TO DO FOR HER.

ITS MTNGAL/MARILYN'S BIRTHDAY TODAY.  I COULD NOT GET INTO THE BIRTHDAY THREAD THIS MORNING SO DO NOT WANT TO CHANCE IT NOW.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARILYN.  WISHING YOU A WONDERFUL DAY.

I GOT MY COLORED PENCILS AND MY COLORED MARKERS YESTERDAY FROM TARGET.  I PRACTICED A BIT THIS MORNING AND I THINK I HAVE THE PENCIL COLORS I WANT TO USE.  THE MARKERS ARE GOOD BUT TOO DARK FOR THE PLACES I WANT SOME SHADING.   ITS A BIG STEP SO I AM BEING CAUTIOUS.

THAT'S IT I GUESS.  HAVE A NICE DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MARCH 15 ~ SAT MARCH 21

Good Morning.    Howard is off to lunch with the ROMEOS and I'm sitting here, with my small heater going, looking at the snow.
ML came to visit and show me some genealogy stuff on Sunday, she came Monday and we started working on my spare b.r./office.  We didn't think she could help me there due to her extreme sensitivity to dust and the inevitable dust mites, but Bill got her a special mask and by golly, it worked well!  A few days ago , when she brought up helping me again, I had to admit that due to my back pain, I could not do it alone. And the wonderful thing is, she really, really does want to help me. She works and I sit and together we decide what to do with things.  I'm determined to let go of stuff without dithering and she is understanding of the push/pull in this endeavor.  We got quite a bit done in one day and she plans to come once a week (like she did with my kitchen).  I am grateful and blest and I know it.   Oh, and she stopped by yesterday on her way home from town just because she wanted to, I guess. Of course, she's welcome anytime.

I've always known Indiana is in the Midwest, and thought Ohio was, too.  I'm pretty sure the Ohio River is the Southern border, until it empties into the Mississippi,  Then, I don't know what happens to that border, but I suspect it drops down because I believe Missouri is considered Midwest,  However, far as I know, Kentucky is considered more Southern,  It WAS called a border state during the Civil War, I think  Missouri was too, but who knows, now...

Cheryl, poor Dean.  I'm so sorry for him.  Mouth sores are so painful.

Trish, congrats to Warwick.  Try to enjoy your lone time.  You know how it can BE!  So terrible about your sis's car and then the pkg. not being delivered properly.  Next time, if there ever is one, you'll remember to take someone along, I'm sure.

QB, the w/h of  the side view of Oscar is still very cute.  You did a great job with him.  Your dragon has lots of parts.  Getting all the right shade of colord is can be a challenge.  Can't wait to see her completed.  Howard hasn't even messed with the generator again.  The weather almost immediately turned wintry and still is--too cold and miserable to work outside for now.  If we lose power again, we'll wait it out like everyone else has to---(she says NOW, while there IS power!)

I, like you Cheryl, am mostly Dutch (my grandmother I lived with was born in Holland) and English.  No Irish at all, far as I know.  Now Howard is part Irish.  Has the look to me, round face,  and most certainly the Irish temper!   I didn't wear green to the grocery yesterday.  I wore my warmest black fleece pullover.  Brrrr

Devonne, Caleb is fairly young to get that honor.  Congrats to him.
Your family keeps you hoppin'--always something new.  Hope the change works out well for Emily.  Driving is a lot more tricky than office work...I think?  Would be for me!   I think you'd been to Hawaii, right?  At least when a person travels with an adult child, it's not like trying to keep up with friends or an unrelated companion.

Better go and do something else I want to long as "the cat's away..."!
Indy
