Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

We have a busy day, too--my dental appt. to install perm. crown and Howard's derm. appt.
We will do our stop at W-M for 1 Rx and a few groceries.  Always want something that's not here.

The big plows regularly knock our mailbox off it's post but so far, haven't totally destroyed it.  Howard dutifully replaces it...
What really got me was last year, our section of the highway was being used to train plow drivers and one hit our full recycle can that we always have to put out the previous night and scattered everything.  Tom, next door, discovered it and helped H. pick it all up.  The can was totally destroyed and, of course, we had to pay the trash co.  $40 for a replacement.  I called the highway dept. and there was a form we could fill out with our description of what happened and send to the state to get back our $40 IF THEY AGREED IT WAS WARRANTED.  They had several months to do this, but we never heard from them nor saw the $40!

Well, I need to get H. up and get our breakfast and finish getting ready.  Have a good day.
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

MALAPROPISMS........
1.  POLITICALLY THEY WERE AT LOCKER-HEADS.
2.  MY HUSBAND IS A MARVELOUS LOVER.  HE KNOWS ALL MY ERRONEOUS ZONES.

WE'RE HITTING A WARM SPELL.  IT MAY EVEN REACH 32* TODAY.  A BITTER COLD JANUARY, THAT'S FOR SURE.  USUALLY OUR FEBRUARY IS THE WORST WITH SNOWSTORMS RIGHT TO THE END OF THE MONTH.

BJ.....GOOD TO SEE YOU POSTING AGAIN.  STAY WELL.

DEVONNE.....THANKS FOR POSTING THE PICTURE.

HOLLY.......I SOMETIMES FIND THE HUMOR IN BEST MEDICINE STUPID AND RIDICULOUS.  ITS NOT AS GOOD AS DOC MARTIN, THAT'S FOR SURE, BUT ITS A COMEDY AND I NEED MORE OF THOSE IN MY LIFE.  I OVERLOOK THE ABSURDITITES, LIKE HIS ULTRA WEIRD ASSISTANT.  AND YES, ANNIE IS A LOBSTERWOMAN AND THEY TEND TO LOOK A LITTLE DISHEVELED MOST OF THE TIME.  ITS THE JOB.  I'VE KNOWN ENUF OF THEM IN MY LIFE HERE IN MAINE.   GOOD PEOPLE BUT WILL NEVER BE ON THE 'BEST DRESSED' LIST.

JUDY......GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DENTAL WORK.

LINDA........I, TOO, GET INFORMED DELIVERY FROM USPS WHICH IS GOOD.  I KNOW AHEAD OF TIME WHAT TO EXPECT IN MY MAILBOX.  AND LUCKY ME,  OUR MAILBOXES ARE INDOORS ON THE FIRST FLOOR.  NO HIKING OUT IN BAD WEATHER.

I'VE BEEN WATCHING THE WESTMINSTER DOG SHOW FROM MADISON SQUARE GARDEN.  IT FINISHES TODAY.  I LOVE SEEING THE NEW DOG BREEDS.  THERE ARE SO MANY THESE DAYS AND MOST OF THEM HAVE BREED NAMES I CAN'T PRONOUNCE.

I WILL TAKE OUT PORK CHOPS FOR FUTURE MEALS.  I PLAN TO ROAST MY POTATOES AND CARROTS WITH MAYO LIKE I DID THE LAST TIME.  I REALLY ENJOYED THE FLAVOR OF THOSE TATERS.
THIS WEEKEND I'M MAKING VEGGIE BEEF SOUP.  MY SON SHOPS AND HE LOVES IT.

NOTHING ELSE NEW HERE.  HUGS FOR YOU ALL.  QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

My dentist prescribed Amoxcillin and wanted me to take two 500 mg. pills at one time. I've never done this (1,000 mg!) & didn't want to get nausated, so I waited an hour apart.

Today is a day of doing what I want. I plan to have many more days like this. It's so easy for me to take care of this flooring. Getting rid of the carpet was a true blessing. I still have artwork, family pictures and Christmas stuff I need to put up from the flooring project. It felt like I just moved in after it was over. Everything was out of the closets, my drapes were all tied up in knots, my dining room table & chairs were in the living room, and everything had to be off the floors. My bathtubs were full of lamps, etc. I was really overwhelmed, but it was so worth it. I hope I don't discourage you to do this, lol!

I have quit moving things around (which I have loved doing my entire life, lol). Where I put it now is where it's going to stay. Getting too old for this now! Greg told me I need to quit doing so many different things and take it easy. I put together a cabinet last week, lol! That will be my last DIY project, but I wanted it for books and it was a fantastic clearance price at Wayfair.

I had a sloppy joe for lunch. I forget about them, but I saw the mix in the pantry and had ground beef I needed to fix. I'm going to make some more premade dinner meals today. It's nice to have something already prepared in the evening. I'll do lunches on a whim.

I am typing what's on my mind, so I am rambling. I'm sure y'all are really interested in my future housekeeping plans, lol.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

Like Linda said it is 40* here but cloudy so very little melting. Tonight temps drop and it may snow or rain overnight.  Great.  😡. Today makes almost 2 weeks that we have been stuck in because of the Ivey driveway.  The car (with an almost flat tire and the trucks are uncovered.  Steps are clear, sorta.
I had rescheduled most appointments at least 2 times.  Maybe we’ll get out next week so I don’t have to reschedule again.  Ha.  We don’t even know if the bottom of our driveway has a mound from the plows…in fact we don’t even know if the roads are clear.  We can’t see it from the house.  If we ever had an emergency we’d be dead….
I have a retreat coming up in 2 weeks so I’ve been prepping the projects I plan to take. IF the weather is clear and dry.  If not I will not go.  I can’t take a chance walking on snow or ice and falling there.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

Devonne, try eating a little bit when taking your meds to reduce the chance of nausea. That usually helps me.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

Devonne, that’s what’s called a loading dose, it’s a frequent thing.

I had the MOHS surgery this morning, I was lucky and she got clean margins the first pass, so we were only there 2 hours. It was already swelling and bruising when she stitched it, she predicts I’ll have a black eye.

We went from there to Olive Garden for lunch.

I finished the Valentines wreath, I’m happy with it. There’s a pic of it on my blog, along with a picture of my dressing, and political content.

It’s 34 out, so some melting. Both the town and county did terrible jobs a of plowing! Even the major roads are only one lane plowed.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

Holly, that wreath is cute!  Is it just knotted around a wire heart?  Speedy healing on your face surgery.

Janet, I hope you are able to get out and about soon.  Our side roads are passable, but clear.  The main roads are totally clear. The road Aaron lives on is never cleared in Akron.  He lives across from a Veteran's outpatient hospital, so I am always surprised that it is not plowed.

It did reach 29 degrees today, so it seemed warm.  No melting of snow or ice, but at least it was not negative wind chills.
My cousin lives in Surf City, NC, and she got 6 inches of snow!  She said they had zero winter clothes and her granddaughter went out to play.  She posted a short video on Facebook and the little on had leggings on her arms and was picking up snow with them.  She had on a big fuzzy robe with a hood instead of a heavy coat, but she sure was having fun. It is such a novelty to her.

My appt with the orthopedist went well.  He said to keep doing what I am doing and he would see me in a month.  He said in a couple of weeks to try walking in a shoe instead of the boot and see how it feels.  Now, keep the boot and do as much as I feel comfortable with doing.  Good news!

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

Cheryl, it’s 2x7 pieces of fabric, fold so they are 1x7, fold again so they are 1x3.5. Put the loop end under the wire of the frame, and pull the ends thru the loop. It was really easy.

Linda, here’s a thought. Since Darrell falls often, maybe ask his doc about getting an Rx for the lifter, and getting it at a medical supply store- maybe Medicare would pay at least part? It’s worth asking the doc, anyway.

I can tell my face is swollen at the site, it feels wierd. The pressure dressing has to stay on for 24 hours.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

Hi all

BJ lovely to see you, and looking so pretty with your quilt (((hugs)))

SANDRA soup for your boy sounds good, I looked up some Krista Davis books on Amazon, they are expensive, so not ordering any more, if the library has them I might borrow! I love the funny movies and shows too.

HOLLY very pretty, you are doing well, already getting 2 projects finished - glad  the surgery went well, and you will heal quickly now, even looking like you have done 10 rounds with a boxer LOL

INDY will you be able to get out in the snow? Shame about the post box, we have letter boxes at our house, do you not have those, or is it a general one for a few people -  I know H can do plowing but it's still pretty dangerous out there. Stay safe (((hugs)))

JANET so sorry both you and STRINGS have such a lot of snow, it's been brutally hot here, and you have the exact opposite.

DEVONNE so glad you have some time to just BE, and it's important that you do just that, enjoy the beautiful space you have created!

CHERYL good news for you too, I only had the boot, I didn't have a shoe, not a great time of year for you to have this, your foot will get pretty cold (((hugs)))

The Mr had his injection, it's able to be repeated in a few weeks if it needs to , the prescription had 5 vials, so it's not too strong, I suspect it will need doing again soon, Leo numbed him a bit first, he said it was painful, but not awful. I drove him home, then he went to see his sister. He said he was fine =19.5pxto drive.

She is not well, having lots of bouts of diarrhoea, she had antibiotics recently, but stopped them almost a week ago, she's eating very little now. The Dr has been asked for her input, they really can't give her meds as the opposite often happens to her too. He said she isn't even coping with turning her hearing aids up, he got them sorted, but it will only last a day, she fiddles with them, and they get turned down, then she can't hear anything.

I picked up Dean, he was glad of it, he got results for his Maths Extension, he was first in his grade, so he was happy about that, and he knows he can apply for early acceptance at university in early April, he should get it, his marks now should gain him a spot.

It's training for me tomorrow, buy it's going to be really hot, so I will need to take it easy, then I'll get Dean at lunchtime, he and John will both be here for lunch, the cleaners will be at their place.

(((hugs))) and prayers

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

Trish- for us it’s the ice. DH insists he’s going out today to the dump. We have so much garbage after almost 2 weeks. If successful with that he will do the grocery shopping tomorrow. We are well stocked but he gets nervous. I don’t have to get out until Tuesday for a drs appt.
Devonne I answered your question.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

It's going to be in the mid 60's next week. Janet, maybe Jerry should wait until it warms up more to be on the safe side.

Cheryl, that is really good news. I've worn a boot twice, due to tendonitis in my ankle.

I got a call yesterday from Discover. Someone was trying to use my debit card number in Charlotte, NC. She asked if I was traveling and if I knew a guy named Jonas W.? No to both questions. He tried to do 3 different charges. I was on the phone with them for over an hour. I'm getting a new debit card, but told her I need to keep this one open for now. She blocked out of state charges only. Greg told me to change my password.

Marylou, thanks. I always eat something before taking any meds. It still made me a little nausated.

Janet, I replied to your pm.

Holly, love the Valentine heart and the facial expression will be perfect! Glad your surgery is over and you are on the way to healing.

I only did some veggies for my premade meals; steamed cabbage, steamed cauliflower and green beans. I'm a big veggie lover. Most of the meat entrees can be done in the air fryer. I need to research if you can do tuna and salmon patties in an air fryer. Need to find some low carb pasta if there is such a thing.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

YOGI BERRA SAYS......
1.  A VERBAL CONTRACT ISN'T WORTH THE PAPER IT'S WRITTEN ON.
2.  I'LL GIVE YOU A DEFINITE MAYBE.
3.  WE'RE OVERPAYING HIM, BUT HE'S WORTH IT.

IT WAS SNOWING THIS MORNING, VERY LIGHT FLAKES.  NOW THE SUN IS SHINING.  WEIRD.  STILL COLD.

HOLLY.....YOUR WREATH IS MADE THE SAME METHOD AS A HOOKED RUG.  EASY TO DO.  YOUR WREATH IS SO PRETTY.

DEVONNE.....LUCKY YOU THEY DID NOT CHARGE ON YOUR CARD.  THERE ARE SO MANY CROOKS OUT THERE.

MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR CAME FROM THE FOOD PANTRY AND KNOCKED ON MY DOOR.  BEFORE SHE PUT IT ALL OUT ON THE 'FREE' COUNTER, SHE WANTED ME TO TAKE FIRST CHOICE SINCE I MAKE SO MANY CASSEROLES AND SOUPS FOR THE BUILDING.  IT WAS SO NICE OF HER.  I ONLY TOOK A FEW THINGS I CAN USE.  I STILL HAVE LOTS IN MY CLOSET STORAGE RIGHT NOW.  I REALLY WILL ENJOY THE PISTACHIOS THO.  MMMM GOOD.

I MADE UP A NEW ROSTER FOR CLEANING MY SMALL APT.  ITS MORE INVOLVED THAN MY DAILY LISTS.  TODAY I HAVE TO CLEAN MY WINDOWS AND MY VENETIAN BLINDS.  I ONLY HAVE 4 WINDOWS SO NOT A BIG TASK.  THEY REALLY NEED IT.  ITS BEEN MONTHS.  I ALREADY HAVE THE WINDEX AND PAPER TOWELS SET TO GO.  I THINK BY DOING THINGS ON A WEEKLY BASIS MY APT. SHOULD STAY IN COULD SHAPE.
I ALSO HAVE A MONTHLY LIST SO THAT I CAN DO THINGS DURING WEEKS 1 THRU 4.  THERE ARE 4 BIG TASKS ON THAT LIST SO ONE TASK IS SPREAD OVER A WHOLE WEEK.  HOW MUCH I DO ON ANY GIVEN DAY DEPENDS ON WHETHER I FEEL TIRED OR ENERGETIC.  THOSE INCLUDE CLEARING OUT AND REARRANGING DIFFERENT CUPBOARDS IN MY KITCHEN AND IN MY BATHROOM.  ALSO WASHING, SCRUBBING MY FLOORS.  I HOPE I CAN LIVE UP TO IT.  I THINK I'VE LISTED THEM SO THAT ITS DOABLE AND WON'T BE A REAL CHORE.  SPREADING IT OUT MAKES IT EASIER TO ACCOMPLISH, I THINK AND HOPE.

I HAVE PORK CHOPS AND VEGGIES TO MAKE TONITE.  MAYBE AFTER BINGO.  EVERYONE IS DOING BETTER SO I WILL GO TONITE.  I ALSO TOOK OUT THE STEW BEEF FOR THE SOUP THIS WEEKEND.  I HOPE I CAN WIN A BIT.

I WATCHED THE WESTMINSTER DOG SHOW OVER 2 DAYS AND IT WAS MARVELOUS.  THE AGILITY SHOW WAS A FEW DAYS AGO.  I WATCHED THAT AS WELL.  SO MANY TERRIFIC DOGS.  MY FAVORITE WILL ALWAYS BE THE GERMAN SHEPHERD.  UNFORTUNATELY IT DID NOT TAKE THE GROUP WIN.  AN OLD ENGLISH SHEEPDOG DID.  WHEN IT CAME DOWN TO THE FINALISTS, I WAS CHEERING FOR THE DOBERMAN.  THE FINAL 7 GROUP WINNERS WERE DOBERMAN, OLD ENGLISH SHEEPDOG, CHESAPEAKE BAY RETRIEVER, SALUKI, SMOOTH FOX TERRIER, LHASA APSO, AND MALTESE.  MY FAVORITE WON AND SHE DESERVED IT.  SO LOVELY AND A SMOOTH GAIT AND A GREAT EXAMPLE OF THE BREED.  I EXPECT I HAVE NOT RUINED THE ENDING FOR ANYONE HERE SINCE I THINK I AM THE ONLY PERSON THAT WATCHES THE DOG SHOWS.  IF I AM WRONG, LET ME KNOW AND I WILL HOLD MY TONGUE (TYPING) IN FUTURE.

THAT'S IT LADIES.  HUGS FOR YOU ALL.  QB S
P.S. EDITED FOR A SPELLING ERROR ONLY.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

Afternoon y'all!

QB we watched too.  We loved when the Doberman posed.  He is beautiful!

We are working on Mom's taxes.  You would think she would not have to pay, but she does, at least have to file them.  Got the Canada tax form yesterday.  Went to the mailbox and it was in the road.  The maple leaf logo clued me in to the fact that that was my mail on the road!

We think we have everything.  I need to print out the medical expenses, and I think we have everything.  I always miss something.

We did get snow this weekend.  Roads stayed clear.  That was good.  We were not stuck at home.  I am making slow progress on my hexie quilt.  I am working a little each night.  I can see progress.  My hubby keeps asking how big it will be, I told him, when I finish I will know.

I have Valentines and one Mardi Gras flag out.  Finished emptying the Valentine's bins yesterday.  Still need to do the dining room table, need to baste my quilt first.  It is sitting on the table.

We have been watching Best Medicine, and love it.  Love the sarcastic humor.  Annie Potts is so versatile as an actress.  We also watched Thursday Murder Club.  Hoping they make a sequel.  They left it open for one!  We are running out of things to watch.

Simba did not care for the snow, and does not like to be cold.  What a wimp!  He's adorable though.  Quite spoiled too!

We enjoyed our trip last week.  Luke enjoyed our visit.  I-55 was closed.  Fortunately we did not have to go north far enough to meet the closed area.  We went to Biloxi first and drove up.  Even though it was cold, it was warmer than Metro Atlanta.

This week, I got my new glasses!  I can see again!

That's my excitement for the week!

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

Well, he got out and to the dump ok, but had to leave the truck at the bottom and walk all the way up. It was supposed to warm up but they have changed that. I guess I’ll be rescheduling that appt again. All he had to do is get the driveway plowed or treated after the snow/ice event, but no. It has nothing to do with $$, just with being stubborn.
I don’t need a crystal ball to predict another crummy year and it’s only Feb!

Maybe we’ll get out of here someday…😢

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

Ladies, I am dumb and dumber! What an idiot I am! It was NOT Discover calling me yesterday and telling me about all these fraudulent charges but scammers and yes, I gave them personal info. Greg is the one who alerted me the call was a scam. They almost wiped $5,000 out of my bank accounts. Discover hopefully has fixed it all. Another new debit card is on the way and they also put a freeze on my checking and savings accounts. My new card is being expedited. Boy, do I feel stupid and embarrassed! Hopefully, I have learned a lesson the hard way. They were really convincing! Discover said they have gotten really good at disguising who they really are.

They are going to close this account and open me another one after some pending charges clear the bank. Be careful, ladies. I was so naive.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

EVENING!

DEVONNE, LAST TIME I GOT A CALL ABOUT A BOGUS CHARGE, I DIDN'T ANSWER QUESTIONS. CALLED THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF THE CARD. IT WAS A LEGITIMATE CALL BUY FELT BETTER KNOWING THAT. DON'T FEEL BADLY, CROOKS ARE SMART. TRY TO TRIP US UP.

HOLLY, LOVE THE WREATH. MADE A PATRIOTIC ONE USING GROSGRAINE RIBBON. UNEVEN SINCE DIRECTIONS CALLED FOR IT TO BE MADE USING A GRAPEVINE WREATH. WHAT SIZE WAS THE WREATH FORM? I ESPECIALLY LOVE THE COLORS USED. I ASSUME FABRIC WAS LOOPED OVER A SINGLE WIRE. I AM SURE YOU WILL ENJOY USING IT FOR MANY YEARS. CAN'T REMBER IF COMMENTED ON TREE SKIRT OR NOT. IT IS VERY PRETTY. WILL CHECK OUT OUT THE SNAKE.

JANET, SORRY YOU ATE STILL ICED IN. THIS WAS A DIFFERENT TYPE STORM. IT WILL TAKE A LOT OF MELTING. HAVE YOU TRIED TO GO ONE OF BRENDA FEENEY'S RETREATS? can't GARENTEE FELLOW QUILTERS WILL BE FRIENDLY. KNOW THE FOOD WOULD BE VERY GOOD. BRENDA BAKES FOR WEEKS BEFORE RETREAT AND HER HUBBY IS A GREAT COOK.

EYE APPOINTMENT TOMORROW. HAIR ON FRIDAY.

TRISH, GLAD WARWICKS INJECTION WASN'T TOO BAD. HAD ONE ON RIGHT HAND THAT WAS VERY PAINFUL., SO WAS CONCERNED.

BJ, TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.

CHERYL, TAKE WITH YOUR FOOT TOO. GIVE TIME TO HEAL.

THERESA, SORRY FOR ALL THE HASSELS WITH YOUR LATE MOTHERS ESTATE.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

DEVONNE so sorry, it's always wise to phone the banks yourself, no matter what they say AND look up the number, not the number they will give you, nasty people. I wish bad karma for them all.
You were very lucky. I say about the number, be careful the Mr looked up a number and dialled it thinking it was our energy provider, it wasn't - it was a 'compare the market' number, he gave them so many details, lucky I was here, I kept interrupting, but he kept shushing me finally just yelled, he felt sheepish after that.

STRINGS thanks for the good thoughts, hope you don't mind, I changed my name to Theresa in your post, knew you meant the comment for her ((((hugs))))

THERESA it's almost finished, and yes you will know -  I have a Lucy Boston, I will know when I know for that too, all EPP and lozenge shapes fussy cut, then the joining squares (1") and lozenges -YIKES!!

SANDRA so nice of her to think of you first - glad for pistachios, I tried the pistachio spread, boy oh boy, it's sweet!!! Sounds like you have a great plan, I am  trying to do one too, not successfully yet LOL

CHERYL you are doing really well, just stay off the ice, no falls please LOL Did you figure out the online shopping, did mine today!

JANET just get someone yourself for the driveway, I wouldn't be waiting, tell him you need to get out, it's a safety issue.

I did class this morning, dropped my friend Joyce home and continued to the LQS to get the missing jigsaw piece from Julie, then picked up my online order, home put it  away, grabbed food and showered, then picked up Dean he wasn't feeling well, the heat I thought, gave him some electrolytes and let him nap on the sofa. She took him to the Dr this afternoon, just now rang me, he spent some time with Dr and will  have bloodwork and urine tests, just to make sure he's physically OK.

I have some Drunkard Path blocks to prep, got some spray starch to do them, we spray the starch in the lid and then 'paint' it  like glue around the edge and iron, it works beautifully for circle shapes, I had run out. We did this method doing Dear Jane with all those fiddly bits LOL  Now I have to find my paintbrush LOL

I have also realised that 2 blocks I did I hate, they look awful, so will need to redo them. Julie showed me hers and while mine will be nowhere as good they still need to be better. I was just trying to get finished

Linda- is Brenda Feeney part of the Star City quilters?  I don’t go to their meetings.  I joined so I could go to the Sew Ins at Fork Mtn with them and the retreat.  I know Kathy Russell, Cathy Hippeli and a few others.  Their guild retreat is in two weeks and Cathy Russell’s is in April.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 1 ~ SAT FEB 7

Guess who is calling a snow removal guy this morning?  Yup.  DH.  I guess that walk up our 750’ snowy/icy driveway convinced him that it’s not safe….lol.  We estimate it will cost about $700?
Holly- like you and I said, they are so stubborn.
I have been cutting fabric for projects for the last few days….and now I have a sore stiff shoulder.  🙄
