My uncle (a dr) pierced my ears against my parents protest when I was 12 as a birthday present. The old way…an ice cube, a needle and gold /diamond studs, which by the way I still wear!
Much later I had 2 more done, both on the left side. The “correct” way, a a high end jewelry store and have always had issues with them.
Today is going to be one of those days….first to get the tire on the Edge fixed, the accountant to drop off tax stuff, the pharmacy, the grocery store, the $Store and UPS! I better get moving.

Good afternoon friends!
I got my first ear piercing with the ice cube and a needle and silk thread when I was a teen. My ears healed nicely but seemed like every time I put in earrings they got sore and itchy. I let them heal over and several years later I got them done in a jewelry store when they used that piercing g**. One ear was shot at an angle and I had terrible time getting an earring in straight. Once again, my ears go so sore. Finally learned that I had a metal allergy. Never heard of such a thing when I was a teenager. Now I can only wear white gold.
Sandra, how nice that you get to spend time with Oscar. Aaron brought Bosco to see me last week since I had not seen him for a while. I put my walking boot on so he would not step on my toes. Of course, he jumped right on my lap, so glad I had that boot on.
I do miss having a dog in the house. We had the cat for 19 years but she made me sneeze. Would not want another one. We feed the feral ones in the yard.
It is 35 degrees and beautiful with blue skies and whispy clouds. I had to get a blood draw today and that went well. I am having some creatine issues with my kidneys so if this result is not better than the last, my Physicians Assistant wants me to see a kidney specialist. I am hoping this one is better cause I don't want another doctor.![]()
Mary Lou, Dean has not received his SS form either, but he got onto the SS site and downloaded it so he could start our taxes.

Well, I had the fancy newfangled g u n at the jewelry store and I, too, had some trouble at first. Found out yrs. later that the peroxide that I tended my ears with retards healing, which apparently, was correct. Neighbor, Shirley, my driver and my baby watcher, had had hers done by a friend with the old needle/ice cube method and wanted me to go to the jewelry store. Squeamish me, wanted that, too. But one hole in each ear was enough for me. ![]()
Theresa, I usually have to re-run whatever just happened even if I'm looking right at it! They're all so darn fast or I didn't exactly "get" it. I'm afraid we're worse couch potatoes that usual during the Olympics. Like Trish, I don't understand hockey so therefore...I don't care for it. Same with football, too. ![]()
Tracy, so glad you can be there with your folks. Say "Hi" from me to your Mom and give her a hug. ![]()
Devonne, it's rough being without a huggable pet. I had a parakeet named, Molly, for 9 yrs. She was IMHO a better fit than our cockatiel, smaller, cleaner, 'funner'. She particularly loved Howard and chose to sit on the arm of his glasses. But he would never let her. Didn't want his face decorated with you know what. Her cage door was always open and once when Mom was visiting, she flew from it and landed in Mom's bouffant hairdo. Mom, not an animal lover, reacted as you might expect and I nearly "laid an egg" laughing.
We, too, have always had a dog. So, it's hard to admit and stick to the fact that that season of our life is over. Plus Howard's favorite is a German shepherd not the little ones I prefer. Can't see us caring for a dog that size when we can barely take care of ourselves.
Happy birthday, Holly. Have fun...

Thanks for answering my question about the SS tax form. As soon aspirin get ink for my printer, I will print it there, don’t know why I didn’t think of that. (LOL, I typed “as soon as I” and autocorrect changed it to “as soon aspirin”!)
My brother had a bird (I can’t remember what kind, maybe a cockatiel) that liked to sit on his head. After Fred passed away, the bird grieved so much, would hardly eat. Finally my SIL started wearing Fred’s cap part of the time. The bird would perch on it and finally started eating.
About 40 years ago, I got my ears pierced at Claire’s. I had no trouble until about 10 years ago when they started bleeding a little. They grew shut because I quit wearing earrings too long trying to let them completely heal. I would like to get them pierced again but just haven’t done it yet.

Afternoon y'all! ![]()
We got mom's SS stuff, last month, it has gone to the accountant.![]()
I got my ears pierced for my 13th birthday. Went to Tapp's which was like Belk etc. We had Tapp's and JB White and they were bought by Belk's. Anyways, I was still in the healing phase when one of the Basset Hound puppies ate the gold ball earing or removed it from my ear, not sure which. We never found it. Mom ran out to buy me a pair of earrings so I could put them in to continue the healing stuff! ![]()
Still dealing with the "we cannot find your mom in the system". She ignored my last email so I called today and she wanted information that I have no clue about. She said it's probably on the last statement. I sent it to her! We will see what transpires from this. She could have asked for that previously. ![]()
What they are doing is trying to get me frustrated enough to throw up my hands and say keep the money. Yeah, they messed with the wrong woman. I will be polite, I will play their game, I will get what we are owed! Even though it's pennies! I will get it! ![]()
Off to finish basting this quilt. Almost done, may play on the machine, I need to read the next steps on this centennial quilt! I am actually excited about this one. Not sure why, but I believe I can get it done this year! At least the top. The directions do have me tying the quilt. Not happening, tempting, but no. ![]()
I did a search of quilt shops near me since, there is always one opening somewhere. Found one and it's open on Saturday. I will take my OBW with me to find fabric for it's border. I am struggling with the online shopping, not sure if the colors are true to the fabric. I also need retayne for the RW&B quilt since I know it has never been washed. The colors are such that I fear them running. Better to be safe than sorry. I also need more quilt soap. I am almost out. ![]()
Not much else from my little corner of the world. ![]()
Later my Friends! ![]()

Holly, happy birthday! ![]()
Spent 2 hours at the SS office, waiting to get my bank info changed for direct deposit. It only took 3 minutes once my number was called. I'm glad I went or I wouldn't get a check next week!
I got my ears pierced at a beauty shop probably 45 years ago. I have never had any problems regardless of what earrings I used.
Greg and Carter are in Tokyo. He got a drink out of a vending machine, said it tasted like a peach tea and was good. He's called me twice and will be sending pictures. It was a 13 hour flight from Los Angeles.
After my MIL passed and DH being the executor of her Will, we got a letter about mineral rights in another county in Kentucky. A company wanted to drill for coal and it was high on a mountain. There were like 10 heirs to these mineral rights. We didn't response, lol.
I finally finished The Beast In Me. Some things didn't happen like I thought they would in this series. Overall, some scenes were kinda gory for me but it's worth watching.

Happy Birthday, Holly! I hope you get something special.
No ear piercing for me.
Mineral rights in this state can be the cause of high family drama as you might expect. Land can be sold with or without the mineral rights. Thankfully, not in my world. We have enough drama.
I did get the treadmill, and Glen and I managed to get the box into the house. It's sitting there. Maybe tomorrow. We're going out tonight for anniversary/Valentine's/birthday dinner. Not sure where. With over 5,000 restaurants in the Houston area, surely we can agree on something.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! Steph and Dan got in Wednesday night, and the pizza they requested arrived right as they did. Yesterday Heather came up and they took us to brunch at First Watch. Today Heather, Ed and Jules came up and they took us to lunch at the Lamp Post. Heather brought me flowers, and Steph brought me tea. Tonight they are out with friends, and tomorrow we’re all going to Boone’s first birthday party, then to Heather’s to visit. It’s been a really nice birthday.
My brother John texted to wish me Happy Birthday, and asked if we still have snow. I said it might be gone by July 4. Maybe.
I finally embroidered Sally’s face, took all of 10 minutes.
My mom and I got our ears pierced together when I was 21 at a department store. I later added a second hole to one side. I haven’t had earrings in for months.

Happy Birthday Holly! Sounds like you had a good day.
My cousin did my ears when I was 16 with self piercers. A gold tension ring with a sharp point on one end. As I sat in class I would push on them to make them go through faster. Never have had any troubles. I cannot wear the plastic posts that are supposed to be hypoallergenic. They make my ears hurt.
It's been in the 40's here so our snow is melting. We still have months of winter left to get more snow.
Happy Valentine's Day!!! 💜

IRISH BULL.......
1. THE MOST UNPLEASANT THING ABOUT HIM IS THAT WHEN HE ISN'T DRUNK, HE'S SOBER.
2. TALK ABOUT THIN! WELL, YOU'RE THIN, AND I'M THIN, BUT HE'S AS THIN AS THE PAIR OF US PUT TOGETHER!
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY MY FRIENDS. WISHING YOU A WONDERFUL DAY.
EAR PIERCING.......I DID MINE WHEN MY SON WON A FREE EAR-PIERCING AND GOLD STUD FROM A COUPON HE GOT IN A BALLOON AT A NEW MALL OPENING IN FLORIDA WHEN WE LIVED THERE. IT WAS 1979 I THINK. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM AT THE TIME, BUT DID YEARS LATER WHEN THEY BEGAN ITCHING TOO MUCH. I STOPPED WEARING THEM AND THEY HAVE SINCE CLOSED UP. I DON'T DO MAKEUP AND JEWELRY SINCE I RETIRED. I LIKE TO FEEL FREE AND EASY AND COMFY ABOVE ALL ELSE.
DEVONNE.....GLAD TO HEAR YOU GOT YOUR S.S. ALL STRAIGHTENED OUT. SOMETIMES ITS THE WAITING THAT IS THE BIGGEST HASSLE.
TODAY IS A SLOW DAY FOR ME BUT I PLAN TO TRY A NEW DISH. ITS A POTATO AND GROUND BEEF SKILLET PIE. SOUNDS AND LOOKS GOOD ON UTUBE. I WILL LET YOU KNOW.
I DID SOME SKETCHING THIS MORNING. I GOT A CUTE DRAGON IDEA AND WENT WITH IT. SKETCHED TWO. I WILL TRY TO GET THEM POSTED ON MY BLOG TODAY.
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY LADIES. HUGS, QB S ![]()
PS.....I POSTED MY 2 DRAGON SKETCHES ON MY BLOG.

I hope you are all OK and the weather is being kind!
It's quite cool here again today, and we have had more rain, not too much, been flooding in our northern state, but nice for our gardens.
We didn't do anything for V Day, the Mr was at bowls and didn't get home till late, I had coked a roast dinner, so I ate and plated his up for when he came home.
I had my ears pierced when I was pregnant with Megan, I wanted some nice earrings, and like CHERYL I can't wear some metals, I can only wear gold, I have on occasion worn costume jewellery, but know it can only be for a few hours, I learnt that the hard way, took a few weeks for my ears to be Ok, LOL
SANDRA your dragon is cute, or should say your dragonS , I like the standing one best I think, any ideas on what colours, i like the idea of a very colourful rainbow type one.
DEVONNE have they left yet?? I am sure they will enjoy Japan.
THERESA we don't have anything like that to deal with in our family, thank heavens, sounds like just a other of trouble, and time to get it sorted, you are nearly there, hang in there.
CHERYL you are making good progress, just be mindful, good idea to wear the boot with your big boy LOL I also wore it when I knew there was going to be a big crowd, jus tot be sage, if someone had bumped me I would have sworn otherwise LOL
JANET busy days are good sometimes hope it all goes well
HOLLY are all the family still there, sounds like you have had a good time with them.
I am still working on my jigsaw, I also have some more hand sewing to do, just not in the mood and I need to get it done.
See you later!
