Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Afternoon y'all!

Warm enough here to open puppy's door.  He is outside being a baked potato!  That is suntanning himself!

Just been my usual busy. Sunday was rainy and just miserable.  So we cleaned.  I dusted the walls in the front Foyer, the plantation shutters, the downstairs bathroom and the dining room.  Went through about 10 or so Swiffer dusters.   I have the pattern to make them.  I guess I need to get off my tail and make them.  If it's easy enough, I will make a bunch.

I did find border fabric for my OBW.  Did not go with a purple/wine/merlot, I got an orange batik!  I am so not an orange person, but when we put it up next to the quilt it was perfect.  Pulls out the orange in the quilt and brightens it up! I got enough to do the backing plus a bit extra.

My plan for the rest of the afternoon is to sew on the bicentennial quilt.  I have read and re-read the instructions, so now they are a bit clearer than mud.  Just time consuming since it is Y seams.  I need to go slow and meticulous.  Especially at first.  The hard part will be not getting ahead of myself, especially as I feel more comfortable with the process.

I am making headway on the hexie quilt.  A bit each night while watching TV.

Nothing else exciting.  That's everything from my little corner of the world.

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Holly, I so agree with you on watching the flights and not being comfortable until they are back on the ground.  Aaron flies pretty often for work and I don't like it.  A month or so ago, he was almost in to Cleveland and then had to go back to Indianapolis due to high wind sheer.  Got to Indianapolis and then refueled and came on back to Cleveland.  It was the weirdest thing...that was the only flight that was diverted that evening.  Took him a few hours longer, but he did make it home safely.   Sorry about the flu; it seems to be raging this season.

I have not sewn for so long.  Now I cannot because my broken foot is my sewing foot.    Still not putting much pressure on my toes, but walking more often in the house.

Judy, stuffed pepper soup sounds wonderful!  That would be much easier than making stuffed ones.  I have not made them in years.  Neither boys liked them.  I should do it again for Dean and me.
I know that white "dust" from the humidifier.  We use one in the bedroom and now I keep a towel on the floor in front of it.  When we were using our well water, it seemed worse.  Now we use the distilled jugs of water.
Dean dusted the living room and ran the vacuum on the carpet there.  I watched and kept my feet up   I did manage to do the breakfast dishes though, so there is that.

It is 52 degrees here.  Saw a lady wearing a T shirt and no coat as she was walking her dog, lol.  It is not that warm to me.

I am tired of the Olympics already.  I will be happy when they finish up.  Dean loves the short track skaters, but all the races look alike to me.   Same with skiing; see one race, they all seem the same.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Holly, I am also relieved when they land and get back home safely. I used to do the flight tracker and could see what state they were over. I wasn't going to track a 13 hour flight. I'm also following the Guthrie case. Why would anyone take an 84 year old woman?

Tomorrow is my oral surgeon appt. to get this molar pulled. I'll be sedated and I'm a little stressed about that. I asked why I had to be sedated and she said sometimes it's a difficult extraction. Gary is going with me. Will be glad to get it out, as I can't eat on the left side. Hope the Fosamax I was taking doesn't make this a slow healing.

Trish, they won't be able to move in until probably April. The foundation hasn't been done nor the septic tank installed. A lot still to be done! They ran the water lines last week.

BJ, I hope you have a wonderful birthday tomorrow and get your favorite cake.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

It’s 47 and the snow is finally starting to melt! I put in a grocery order from Walmart.

Happy Birthday BJ!

Janet, we all have those days!

I had the brilliant idea to organize my fabric. I pulled out all the Christmas fabric to start, and have it subdivided by main color. I have 2 closets of fabric, so it’s a major project. I found things I have no memory of.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Holly- have you come across any of the receipts with the forgotten fabric?  I have and boy o boy have prices gone up!  I found a quilt kit (queen sizes) that I bought in VT a long time ago…it was $45 and included all the fabric for the top, the binding and the backing (no batting).  And the amazing part is I still like it.  It’s next up on the cutting board.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Afternoon y'all!

Janet I have come across receipts.  They were pinned to the fabric.  That was when I was sorting by color, I still find one now and again that I missed.  Less and less over time!

BJ Happy Birthday!

Cloudy here today.  The sun poked through a bit ago and has gone back behind the clouds.  Not supposed to get above 68*.  No snow to melt here.  Tomorrow should be really nice with temps in the mid 70's.

I did sew some yesterday, but found myself talking with jack a bit too much, kept putting squares upside down.  Time to step away, so I did!

Need to go and sew some more.

I left a voicemail for the lady I have been talking to, about the rights.  I think she is avoiding me.  If she cannot help, send me to someone who can.  I am getting annoyed!  There is no reason this should take this long!

Nothing else exciting from my little corner of the world.

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

It's so warm,  for 45 mins. or so, I sat out on the small deck right outside the sunroom with my straw gardening hat on.  The deck has no cover or shade and the sun was wonderful but still blinding.  Howard had done some errands then gone to lunch with the ROMEOS.

ATM, we have nearly the same temperature as in  Florida, where the kids are--one of those serendipity-type things that are unexpected, for sure, because never do I remember the middle of February not being pure Arctic winter weather!    It changes some tomorrow and more on Friday but...for now, .

I couldn't imagine working as a flight attendant.  I'm an inexperienced, nervous flyer.  Probably won't be ever flying anywhere again and am more than fine with that.  But, having said that, I did get my star driver's license a few years ago in case I ever had to fly.  That was a royal pain, having had two last name changes and complicated because Howard and I got married in Chicago, so another state to deal with, too.

You girls reminded me of a quilt kit I bought years ago  while visiting H.'s sister.  I'm going to drag it out (I even know where it is) and see if it's something I want to mess with.  I can barely remember what it looks like.  Still, this one is all cut out for applique, so it might be worth it.

Happy Birthday, BJ.    Enjoy your day.  Glad you're back home to do that!

Theresa and all:  Here's a new meme:  Don't tell me what to do!  You're not my dog!

Need to go and take some salmon out of the freezer or it'll be leftover tonight.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Happy Birthday BJ!  Hope it was great day

Our warm weather has moved on.  We just had a blizzard.  We have about 8" of snow.  Schools were closed, activities cancelled and many car crashes and going in the ditches.  We stayed home.  Will snow blow tomorrow.

Holly I need to do the same thing.  I have small drawers of small pieces sorted by color but over the years I've gotten boxes of fabrics in the basement that need sorting now.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS BJ, I know the family will have time with you, hope you get to enjoy an icecream!!

SANDRA I quite like orange though I don't use it much, I find my taste has changed over the years, I went from bright, to civil war, to repro and now it's a bit of everything - I did like the batiks too, and I still have a UFO in them LOL But I have UFOs in lots of things

INDY you asked about the jumps for skating, I do know  most of them but I find these days they go so fast I need to see on the replay, I just can't tell any more if its a triple or quad, it's all so fast! I actually like flying, I DON'T like the cramped seats LOL and if we ever do a long haul again (over 16 hours or so) I want to go business class, don't really care how much, it's just too cramped! The Mr might have other ideas though LOL

DEVONNE hoping all is well for you with the surgery, I know that stopping the meds a few months before helps. Your dentist should have told you all the associated problems. And I'm sure they wouldn't go ahead if it wasn't necessary ((((hugs))))

THERESA JANET and HOLLY it's a yikes from me for the fabric costs now, I might have mentioned I needed some fabric for a border, it was the old style Japanese fabric, lots of gold, I had it for at least 15 yrs, and it is STILL  in the store - well it was, I bought the last of it -  they charge a lot more for it now though,  and I know it's the same fabric, bit of a cheek doing that, but I guess they can!

It's been another warm day, I had a long talk with my brother yesterday, bit of a shock, he rang me!!! I am glad though, he wanted some info from one of my school friends, she was happy to help, so I now feel like I can ring him, maybe once a week, maybe he would like the contact, we shall see, his wife was in the background talking over him all the time, BUT it was a long conversation for us anyway, the Mr said after, that it was the longest he had ever heard my brother talk to me in years.

(((hugs))) and prayers

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Tooth is gone. I can only eat soft foods for 3 or 4 days. This was a new place for me and I really liked them. They gave me a 15% discount because I don't have dental insurance. I have a dental "plan" but it's not for oral surgery. She asked me if I was opposed to laughing gas. I told her I haven't had that in 50 years, lol. The dr. put an IV in my hand and the next thing I knew, I was being wheeled outside to my vehicle! I thought it would be $2,500 or more, but it was only $1,070. I was happy!

It's going to be 73 today, already 70 at 11:45. I have to go to Walmart and get a money order to pay my HOA fees. Since my bank account is a new number, I had to shred the old checks.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Devonne, glad the dental surgery went well! We haven’t seen 70 degrees since probably October!

I got a lot done this morning. Changed out the shower curtains and tablecloth from V Day to St Patrick’s. Also changed my mantle to St Patrick’s.

Worked a short time on fabric organizing. Finished the scrapghan, and started another. Hopefully with this one I will run out of partial skeins.

Janet, I haven’t come across any price tags yet. With Joann’s closing, I’m so glad to have a stash!

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Afternoon y'all!

Indy I need that meme on a t-shirt!

Trish I am trying to only work from stash.  Doesn't always work.  It was jaw dropping at the cost of fabric!  That's why I watch the Quilted Cow, kinda, I really more listen.  If I hear something interesting I look.  Last night they were selling 2 yards BOGO, 4 yards total for $8.  It is random fabric, they do match them up for you.  I only got one, like I need more fabric.

DS so glad that is now behind you!

It's 78* here feels like 80*!  Doors and windows open.  I saw the redbuds blooming as I went to the park, and my Jonquils are up and either blooming or have buds on them.

I did go for my walk this morning.  Home, watched part of the ladies Olympic hockey, then had to head to a chiropractor appointment.  It was a stressful game to watch.  I will not say the outcome in case someone wants to watch it on replay.

A couple months back Simba charged at a deer (Buck), from our driveway, while on the leash!  He pulled my shoulder and it is not getting better.  So this is my first step to trying to fix it.  After the first treatment it feels better, but I know that muscle memory will pull it back to where it was.  He gave me some common sense marching orders, I will do my best.  It's head up, shoulders back type thing and heat.  Tens unit if I can find new pads, or get a new one.  I may just go with a new one!  Easier!  I like easy.

While I was sitting in the waiting room, I found a lemon raspberry cake recipe.  I can use my lemons and make it.  Hubby liked the sound of it, so I will try it.

I am using up all the boxes of baking stuff, like brownie mix.  I am sure I bought the one I found for a recipe, but for the life of me I cannot remember what it was.  So, I just made the brownies.  I found a big Sam's club box of brownie mixes, so they will be between lemon recipes!

I am making sure there's nothing expired or about to expire, in my pantry!  Nothing worse than seeing something and it is many years expired!

You are now caught up on my little corner of the world!

Later my Friends!

Did anyone see the video of the dog that was on the ski slope during the ladies match? It’s so funny, the dog was having a great time! It looked like a wolf, must have scared the skiers!

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

My friend, Bobbie just left after a visit to bring my Dec. birthday present by.    It's getting harder and harder for us to get together in a timely manner for our two birthdays, so a few days ago, I suggested that we dispense with gifts to each other after these last ones.   We've been doing this for almost 40 yrs. and truthfully, I cannot think of or find  anything to buy for her.  Always tricky when you're the one to bring an awkward subject up, but she seemed to agree. We did pledge to each other that we would go out for lunch instead which we always did, plus the gifts.  I feel a load lifted and I hope she does too.
We planned to go to the grocery today, but she came later than I expected and stayed longer.  And now it's suppertime and I'm way too tired.  I need salad fixings for tomorrow's small group gathering.  I'll either go in the morning OR stop at the store's deli and buy something on the way there.  Neither is ideal.  I do like to taste test deli stuff to see if it needs tweaking.

QB, it's very nice of you to provide that many meals for Nan.  Congrats on your big win at Bingo.  Those Italian sandwiches always sound so delicious.   Yum!

Theresa, that's where I saw it on-line, on a t-shirt.  Speaking of expired food, guess who always discovers any I might have?  Old eagle-eye ML, of course.    So embarassing.

Going.  Howard just brought in the left over stuffed green pepper soup we'll have for supper.
Glad that's available.  Bobbie brought her own tea bag and a few snacks for us this afternoon.
I'm such a wonderful hostess...
Indy

P.S.  Yes, Holly, I saw the dog.  So funny.  And, it looked too much like a wolf!

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Holly, we did see that dog, and yes, it was so funny and he was so happy running along!  The owner said he ran away from home and that he is a Wolf dog.  He was gorgeous.

Hurray for our women's hockey team and for our lady figure skater, Alysa Liu!!

I made spaghetti for supper today.  Dean has some mouth sores from his antibiotic he is taking and I thought that spaghetti would not be good for him, but he wanted it, so I fixe it.  He went back to the doctor and he told Dean to continue taking that medication.  Dean has mouth sores, patches on his head and his ears are really red and itchy and has weeping patches.  I advised him not to take it, but the doc said to continue.  I was so surprised at that.  He is certainly having a bad reaction to it.  He feels worse then when he first went to see his doctor.    Now I will not get him to go again since I had to practically drag him there.

It was so warm today.  However it is supposed to rain, hail, be windy and then turn colder once again.  I sat outside just to get some fresh air today.

Sandra, congrats on the bingo win!!

I really should sort my fabric too.  I know I have some that has been in my bins for years.   I guess I really should donate it, but just can't seem to part with fabric.
