Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

BUMPING THIS UP,

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

edit :  I posted on last week's thread, but I DID stay here a bit tonight, and cleaned out my PMs, boy there was a lot,  it does take a while, so if you have the time (and the inclination LOL ) I suggest trying to do it a bit at a time.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Trish…I have a lot of “housekeeping “ to do on our iPhones  and IPads.  The msgs, emails, etc just seem to like on.  I plan to clean them up and then keep up.  lol.  Where have J heard that before?
Rained all night, but there are still piles of snow out there.
I’m supposed to be going to a quilt retreat at the end of the week.  Think I mentioned it.  It’s with a group (about 16).  I don’t know any of them…maybe by sight at the lqs.  Hopefully it’s better than the last one which I left early.
    Back later.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Janet, I have to commend you, going to the retreat where you don’t know anyone. It’s so hard to make friends as we get older!

our last day with Steph and Dan! Steph is going to do our taxes, then they are having lunch with his family. The Uber is picking them up at 3:45 for the airport.

Yesterday was wonderful. We went to Boone’s party and saw so much family! There were about 30 people there. I gave Donna a tablerunner, and gave my nephew Jacob and his fiancée Molly at big scrap afghan for the house they just bought. Michael and Samantha gave me a 5x7 pic of Boone as an infant wearing the crown I crocheted her.

After the party we went to Heather’s for several hours, and Ralph and I treated for dinner from their pizza parlor. We got home around 10, and all went to bed early.

And I just realized tomorrow is President’s Day! Since I’m retired I don’t really think about it, but it feels like it should be later in the month.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

WELFARE BLOOPERS.....
1.  YOU HAVE CHANGED MY LITTLE BOY TO A GIRL.  WILL THIS MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
2.  I AM FORWARDING MY MARRIAGE CERTIFICETE AND THHREE CHILDREN, ONE OF WHICH IS A MISTAKE AS YOU CAN SEE.

ANOTHER NICE DAY IN THE 30S WITH SUNSHINE.  ITS MELTING SOME OF THE SNOW.

TRISH......GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE.  I ALREADY THOUGHT ABOUT SHADING THE DRAGONS WITH RAINBOW COLORS TO BRIGHTEN THEIR WINGS AND KNOBS.  I WILL TRY SHADING WITH COLORED PENCILS.  I WILL KEEP A SWATCH OF EACH BODY FABRIC ASIDE TO WORK WITH OTHER COLORS TO ADD.  WE'LL SEE HOW THAT GOES.

HOLLY......IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAD A WONDERFUL TIME WITH ALL YOUR FAMILY.  HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO BOONE.

IT WOKE AT 9 AND THO ITS MY DAY OF REST, I HAVE KEPT BUSY.  I FOUND A NEW IRONING BOARD PAD AND COVER THAT I PUT ON THE BOARD IN THE COMMON ROOM.  IT PAYS TO RE-ORGANIZE NOW AND THEN.  I ALSO I DUG OUT BACKGROUNDS AND MAIN FABRICS FOR 3 MORE WHS.  THEY NEEDED PRESSING.  I HAVE THE TWO DRAGONS AND THE ONE OF OSCAR TO START.  I ALSO NEEDED TO FIND BINDING FABRIC FOR MY CAROUSEL HORSE.  THAT ALL TOOK TIME.  I DITHER ABOUT COLORS SO ITS THIS AND THAT AND MAYBE NOT, AND YES, I GUESS SO.  TAKES TIME.
SO I'VE DONE MY LAPS FOR THE DAY.  NO BREAKFAST SO I WILL HAVE SOME BRUNCH WHEN I AM DONE HERE.
NEVER MADE THAT SKILLET PIE LAST NITE EITHER.  GOT BURIED IN A BOOK IN THE COMMON ROOM AND LOST TRACK OF TIME.  TOO LATE TO COOK.  CROSSING MY FINGERS I GET IT DONE TODAY.
GOT ON THE PHONE WITH SPECTRUM YESTERDAY TO ASK ABOUT THE STREAMING SITES THAT ARE FOR FREE BUT WHICH I CAN'T SEEM TO GET ON MY TV FROM TRYING ONLINE.  ALSO, MY BILLING STATEMENT WENT UP $19 A MONTH NOW WHICH IS MAKING ME TIGHTEN MY BELT A BIT MORE.  THE GUY I GOT ON THE PHONE WITH SPOKE AMERICAN, NO ACCENTS, AND HE WAS PATIENT WITH MY HEARING LOSS AND SPOKE MORE SLOWLY AND CLEARLY.  ANYWAY, IT TOOK OVER AND HOUR, BUT IN THE END I AM SUPPOSED TO HAVE ALL THE CURRENT STUFF; TV, PHONE, INTERNET, AND ALL MY CURRENT CHANNELS, TOO, FOR ABOUT $75 A MONTH LESS.  HE TOLD ME I MISSED A COUPLE OF PROMOTIONS AND HE WAS GLAD TO GET ME SET WITH THE ONE FOR 2026.  IT TOOK SO LONG BECAUSE HE WAS ADJUSTING AND DOING MY EQUIPMENT WHILE I WAS ON THE PHONE.  EVERYTHING SEEMS THE SAME TO ME.  ALL MY CHANNELS AND MY EMAIL IS FINE.  I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MY NEW BILL NEXT MONTH.  MORE SAVINGS FOR ME.

GOT TO GO.  TIRED.  NEED TO HAVE MY BRUNCH AND REST A BIT.  AFTER ALL, ITS MY DAY OF REST.
HUGS FOR YOU ALL, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Happy Sunday y'all!

Sandra, I am like you in that selecting colors takes me awhile.  It does not come easy to me and I have a hard time making a decision.

Holly, sounds like you  all had a great family gathering.  I miss those days when we had lots of family and little ones running around.

It has been drizzly and rainy all morning.  The piles of snow are dirty and look awful.  Will be glad to have some sun soon.

Dean and I went to get groceries.  The store was busy and the store only had ONE checkout that was not self serve.  Those stores sure want customers to check themselves out.  I rarely use them, especially if I have a lot and today we did.  So we waited in line.  I must say the lady was a fast worker, bless her heart.

Great news, Sandra on your bills.  You really got a good customer service person.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Holly, what a wonderful time you had! We had family unions every year when our Mom was living. After she died, I offered to host it here in GA. My siblings thought this was too far to come from IN and KY, so I offered to find a closer place in TN. It never materialized.

Gary and Emily are coming over for dinner. I haven't seen Emily since Christmas. They have become homebodies, like me, lol.

Greg and Carter took a bus to their hotel in Tokyo. He sent me a picture of the bus schedule and it was all in Japanese. I asked him how did he know which bus and he said it changes to English after a few minutes.

My ex SIL just texted me. They bought a new house, without checking out the amount of the HOA fee nor the annual property taxes. After they moved in, they learned there is no senior allowance for property taxes. Their HOA fee is $345 a month and their property taxes are $4,000 a year. They are considering moving to the next county, 12 miles away, which does have a senior property taxes allowance.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

STOP THE PRESSES!
1.  HE CALLED ON THE KENTUCKY LEGISLATURE TO CLARIFY THE STATE ABORTION SATUTE TO DEFINE WHETHER IT APPLIED TO PREGNANT WOMEN.
2.  BECAUSE THE GARDEN PARTY WAS PARTLY IN OBSERVANCE OF THE YEAR OF THE DISABLED, THE QUEEN AND HER FAMILY MOVED AMONG THE GUESTS IN WHEELCHAIRS AND ON CRUTCHES AND ALUMINUM WALKERS.

WE MAY GET SNOW ON WEDNESDAY.  NO TELLING HOW MUCH YET.  TODAY IS SUNNY AND BRITE AND IN THE 30S AGAIN SO THERE'S MORE MELTING.

CAROL......HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU TODAY.  I HOPE ITS A WONDERFUL DAY WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE TO DO.

DEVONNE......YIKES.  WILL THEYNEVER LEARN.  ITS THE 1ST THING I WOULD ASK ABOUT BEFORE VIEWING A HOME.  HOA FEES CAN BE EXORBITATANT.  AND TAXES, YIKES.

CHERYL.......I FOUND THE BODY FABRICS FOR ALL 3 WHS THAT WILL WORK I THINK.  IT TOOK SOME CHANGES ON MY PART BEFORE SETTLING.  TODAY I WILL START WITH BASTING THE BACKGROUNDS AND BODY FABRICS TO THE PATTERNS.

ITS MONDAY SO ITS BACK TO MY CHORE LIST.  SO FAR SO GOOD.  I AM HANDLING IT ALL WELL.  IF I MISS SOMETHING ONE DAY, I MOVE IT TO THE NEXT DAY'S LIST AND GET IT DONE.
LAST NITE I MADE THE SKILLET PIE.  NOT GOOD I'M AFRAID.  THE POTATOES WOULD HAVE WORKED BETTER IS THEY WERE SLICED THINNER I THINK.  EVEN BAKING THE DISH A BIT LONGER ONLY MADE THE CHEESE HARDEN SO I HAD TO REMOVE IT BEFORE IT DESTROYED THE TOP LAYER.  LESS ONIONS WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE, TOO.  I LIKE ONIONS BUT THIS ONE HAD TOO MUCH AND THE SLICES TOO LARGE.  WELL, ONE LEARNS BY TRYING.    LUCKILY I DID NOT OFFER A MEAL TO ANY OF MY NEIGHBORS YESTERDAY.  I THINK I CAN SAVE THE MESS BY RE-SAUTEING THE FOOD AND MAKING IT MORE OF A HASH.  THE POTATOES CAN USE MORE COOKING, THAT'S FOR SURE.  I DON'T WANT TO WASTE ALL OF IT.

WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

This morning I had a foot doctor appointment, then we went to Mission Barbecue for lunch, we have enough left over for dinner.

Carol, Happy Birthday!

It’s so strange to have Prez Day so close to V day. We had some rain and warmer temps, so a little melting took place.

Still nothing about Nancy Guthrie. One Instagram person is calling her Nancy Benet Ramsey. Another suggested we send a squad of women, since men can’t find their nose on their face. It’s so sad and strange.

Dinner will be Mission leftovers.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CAROL!!  I hope you have a wonderful day.

It is sunny and 43 and the snow is melting/dripping off our roof.  Supposed to be warm all week and then be back into the 20's on Saturday.  A little break from all the cold is nice to have at this time of year.

Still not leaving the house much.  I started a new jigsaw puzzle yesterday.  It will not take long as it is only 300 pieces.  I got it for Christmas, so will put it together.

I had given my two DILs Amaryllis plants for Christmas.  Emmily sent me a picture of hers yesterday and it is still in full bloom.  She said it is doing great and she did not have to do anything to it!  My kind of plant!

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

I'm jinxed!   This is my third try so it will be brief-er.  I have to watch myself at the end or I'll accidently click on something wrong and lose it all.
But, I didn't want to miss Carol's birthday--Happy, birthday, Carol.  Wow!  Three special days almost in a row.  Hope you had a delicious dinner out.

On Saturday, we took advantage of a special invitation to the new Culver's in town.  H. and Dave ALWAYS eat at the other one and they were given these invites the last time. You could order anything on the menu, plus a drink and dessert--one of their frozen custard creations.
We both had shrimp dinners and he got a turtle sundae and I got a hot fudge w/cashews and whipped cream.  We were  stuffed afterwards but it was nice and the staff, some from the other place who knew Howard quite well, were lovely and welcoming.

ML and Bill fly to Florida, Port Charlotte area, tomorrow morning for a week.  She came over yesterday for a visit which she always does before leaving.  When the tables were turned, and we were the ones going away, she always did the same.  Of course, I was harried, trying to pack and all and it was inconvenient but I wouldn't have had it any other way.   She's alerted Danny that we will be here alone.

Howard is off to Menard's to get the bulb he needs for his tail light change.  He asked me if I wanted to go.  You all know the answer to that!   So I need to get crackin'.
Indy

PS. Well, I thought it would be briefer.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

HAPPIEST of Birthdays CAROL, I hope you both got to enjoy sometime together, and Glen is feeling better. Best wishes for the coming year!

INDY that is so frustrating isn't it?? I have done it many, many times, usually after I've written a book AND remembered everything I wanted to comment on LOL Hope ML and B have a great time!

CHERYL I am still working on my 1000 piece one! and It's been a challenge, getting to the end  now, and it's a good session when I have been able to place some pieces that join up LOL

DEVONNE is the family enjoying their new place, they all moved in properly yet? I think it was a 2 storey house from memory.

SANDRA I have certain chores on certain days too, Monday is cleaning day, with other days for the mid-clean LOL How we can get so dirty in a few days is beyond me, but there it is LOL Looking forward to seeing your dragons. I still haven't finished my hand sewing !

HOLLY so sad about Nancy Guthrie, certainly sounds like someone who is known to them, I do hope they find her, but it sounds like she may not be alive, awful for the family.

Today was warm, but tomorrow will be another really hot one, I bless that A/C every day, it's on now, I didn't have it on last night early and it got hot and humid through the night, will be the same tonight, so it's set to go off in a few hours.

Had a long talk with my sis last night, they are giving up their Bali villa, had it for so long now, but they decided that when they go back it will be a resort on a different island. You can only long term lease in Bali, theirs was a 5 year plan, they had it for 5 years and due to be renewed now. Not very expensive really, but she said that it will be snapped up quickly, they have been asking were they going to renew.

I have been watching the skating, I didn't think the scores were right, there were quite a few errors on the couple that came in 3rd. BUT I don't know what the required elements were, they might have done all the required ones. She did a single to his double and a couple other errors. And they were quite far apart, not usual in pairs, They have all been very good though, the height the guys are throwing the girls is amazing. Currently the aerials ski jump are on, pretty good!

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

WONKY ADS......
1.  DINNER SPECIAL-----TURKEY $2.35; CHICKEN OR BEEF $2.25; CHILDREN $2.00.
2.  FOR SALE: ANTIQUE DESK SUITABLE FOR LADY WITH THICK LEGS AND LARGE DRAWERS.

MIGHTY GRAY OUTSIDE.  LOOKS LIKE RAIN OR SNOW IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN.  TEMPS IN THE 30S TODAY THO SO ITS NOT VERY COLD.

WHEN I WAS YOUNGER I COULD DO MY HOUSECLEANING IN A DAY OR TWO EASY.  THESE DAYS I HAVE TO SPREAD IT OVER THE WHOLE 6 DAYS.  NOWADAYS I'M SLOWER AND TIRE MORE EASILY.  THAT MEANS MORE REST STOPS FOR READING OR WATCHING TV OR PLAYING SOME SOLITAIRE.  AND THEN THERE'S THE DOZING OFF IN A BLINK, FOR 20 MINS TO AN HOUR IN THE AFTERNOON OR EARLY EVENING.  I CAN LIVE WITH IT JUST FINE.

I REFRIED THOSE POTATOES YESTERDAY AND IT MADE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE.  I HAD SOME AS A HAMBURGER HASH AND THEN FOR SUPPER THERE WAS THE POACHED EGGS ON POTATOES.  VERY TASTY.  I HAVE LEFTOVERS, TOO.

TODAY IS COFFEE MORNING.  I RARELY GO SINCE I DO NOT EAT MUFFINS, COFFEE CAKE AND DONUTS.  I GUESS I COULD BRING MY CUP OF YOGURT THAT I'M HAVING THIS MORNING.  I MAY JUST DROP IN TO SEE WHAT'S NEW.  I ALREADY DID MY LAPS.
CHORES ON MY TO-DO LIST TODAY, AND THEY ARE NOT TOO DIFFICULT SO I SHOULD BE ABLE TO SPEND MORE TIME SEWING TODAY.  BUT THEN THERE'S THE WEATHER.  WHEN IT GETS SO DARK IN THE DAYTIME LIKE THIS I RARELY FEEL LIKE DOING MUCH AT ALL.  I NEED MY SUNSHINE TO BOOST MY ENERGY.

STAY SAFE AND WARM LADIES.  HUGS, QB S

ps.  see blog for update on projects.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Holly- years ago I went to an HGTV retreat in Charlotte, NC.  There were about 95 quilters and I didn’t know anyone, except from the HGTV board.  That’s where I met Carole, Joann (AuntJo) and a few others.  It was great.

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

Hi, BJ.  Nice to see you posting.

ML & B are just over half way to FL.  They crossed the KY/TN state line a few minutes ago  It's fun to be able to watch the flights, as you can, now.  She's very good about texting and sending pics and I look up the sightseeing places they go  at the time.
I'm glad they're gone...the days leading up to leaving are harder for me than the time while they're gone.  Now, I can look forward to their return all the while glad they can do this traveling while they're able.  And, it's a blessing that we're not locked into an Arctic winter spell right now.  In fact, today and tomorrow should set record high temps for us.

Trish, I wonder also how we 2 can drag as much dirt in as we do.  However, we do not remove our shoes at the door.  Never have, so you get what you get.  We got a new humidifier and now things are getting covered with the white dust they produce.  Everthing's a trade off.
I'm impressed about Megan being a former figure skater.  Does that mean you can tell at a glance  which jump was just performed?  They all look alike to me!

Devonne, what a wonderful experience for Carter to see Japan.  He'll always remember it.
Nice that Greg (being a guy) keeps in close touch with you when he travels.  Your sons are both good to you, if in different ways.  Still, it'll be nice when they're back home.  Thirteen hours on a plane sounds awful to me but I know when you travel, you sort of get into a zone, at least I do even when we go to Linda's in Big Stone  Gap...8-10 hours driving.

Think I'm going to either try stuffed green peppers in the crockpot or make some stuffed gr. pepper soup for supper.  I don't want to wreck my ingredients, but I found a rather simple recipe on-line where you don't have to pre-cook the hamburger.  Sometimes that is a mistake.

Enjoy your day (s).
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15 ~ SAT FEB 21

We did our errands this morning. Then, I had bought a kit to do bowl cozies with 2.5 inch strips and the precut batting . It’s a nuisance, even with the 1/4 inch foot the 5 strips did not come out to 10.5 inches, so I had to add a strip. It’s much easier to do with 10 inches squares. I won’t do it with strips again, live and learn.

Judy, I always breathe a sigh of relief when the kids land, either coming or going.

Heather and Jules have the flu, sudden onset this morning. Both had the flu shots. We saw them both Saturday, hoping we don’t get it.
