Cold and dreary day here. Having the cracked windshield in our car replaced tomorrow. It’s gotten much worse. It’s $$$. I don’t even like the car, DH said he’d buy me something else, but I hardly drive anymore, so I guess I’ll keep it.
Off to my studio.

STOP THE PRESSES!
1. KNICKS NOTES: KNICKS OPEN REGULAR SERASON ON THE ROAD AGAINST CLEVELAND ON OCT 28, THEN ARE AT HOME THE FOLLOWING NIGHT AGAINST WASHINGTON, DURING WHICH TIME SENATOR BILL BRADLEY'S UNIFORM NUMBER 24 WILL BE RETIRED. BRADLEY WILL JOIN FORMER TEAMMATES WILLIS REED, DAVE DEBUSCHERE AND WALT FRAZIER IN HANGING FROM THE MADISON SQUARE GARDEN RAFTERS.
THE SNOW HAS FINISHED. LOOKS SO PRETTY. MAYBE 4 OR 5 INCHES. ONLY 20S TODAY BUT NICE AND SUNNY.
I MADE THE ROASTED TATERS MIXED WITH MAYO AND SEASONINGS AND THEY WERE VERY GOOD. I USED SMALL ONES IN THEIR SKINS FOR THIS MEAL, CUT IN HALF. CRISP ON THE OUTSIDE AND TENDER INSIDE. I WILL BE MAKING THEM AGAIN THAT WAY. THE CARROTS MIXED THE SAME WAY WERE ALSO GOOD. I ADDED SEASONINGS: SALT, BLACK PEPPER, ONION POWDER, GARLIC POWDER, AND PAPRIKA TO THE TATERS AS WELL.
THE RIVER AND TREES LOOKS SO PRETTY AFTER THE SNOW. I AM JUST GLAD I DO NOT HAVE TO JOCKEY A CAR AROUND THE PARKING LOT FOR THE PLOWING. ITS THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT NOT HAVING A CAR ANYMORE. I STILL WOULD LOVE TO JUST DASH OFF THE A STORE FOR SOMETHING I WANT AT A MOMENT'S NOTICE. I GUESS THAT'S NOT HAPPENING AGAIN IN MY LIFETIME.
ITS MY DAY OF REST AND TODAY I WILL BE DOING JUST THAT. I WAS UP TIL AFTER 3 AM LAST NITE READING. BUT I COULD NOT FINISH SO WILL DO THAT TODAY. SOMETIMES A MYSTERY BOOK HOLDS MY INTEREST LIKE GLUE. I JUST DON'T WANT TO STOP READING.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Trish, I cut the selvage off years ago! So no selvage to go from. I did a google picture search and it just told me it was fabric with butterflies. I hate AI! ![]()
Janet sorry about the retreat! Growing up a military brat I was always the odd man out! Still am to some degree! ![]()
We supposedly got snow overnight. Not sure where. Radar even showed it was snowing here! Walked outside and nothing! ![]()
QB I can text you pictures of the fabric. ![]()
Carol I will text you too! ![]()
Yesterday, Sara came up to get her tires replaced. I picked her up at the tire place, and we went to Starbucks. Back to get her car. Home to unload her Christmas stuff from her car, and let Simba out. Then off to Lowes for a couple things, Sam's club for a few things, to Visionworks, to get me new glasses, my prescription has changed again. Then got lunch at Jason's Deli, and Target run and home! We were both too tired to pop, as mom would say! ![]()
Today, Todd has gone to his mom's to burn the brush pile, his brother is meeting him there! It's just me and Simba. ![]()
I have taken Simba on his walk, letting it warm up then will go walk the park. It's cold! The kind that goes right through you! ![]()
That's everything from my little corner of the world! ![]()

GOOD AFTERNOON!
NO SNOW HERE, THANKFULLY. IT IS FAIRLY COLD THOUGH. FEELS MORE SO SINCE WE HAD A SOME OF MILD, ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPS.
THERESA, SORRY I DON'T HAVE ANY ORIENTAL FABRICS. HAVE PLENTLY OF FABRIC TO EVENTUALLY DO SOMETHING WITH.
MY SIS DIDN'T TAKE ME OUT FOR A BIRTHDAY LUNCH, SO WILL DO THAT TOMORROW IF NOTHING HAPPENS. MISS GOING OUT FOR BREAKFAST. DARRELL AND I USED TO DO THAT AT KEAST ONCE A WEEK.
SANDRA, KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT GOING TO GET SOMETHING NEEDED, WHEN NEEDED. MISS THAT TOO. TODD IS GETTING THINGS NEEDED, BUT UNTIL HE IS OFF WORK.
Thinking of EVERYONE. PRAYERS.................

I got an Alexa notification we may see snow in my area from 5-7 am. I'm sure nothing but flurries, but a few flurries excites southerners! ![]()
I have made a lot of progress; still a lot to do. My trunk is full and the back seat will be by the end of the day. I'll go to the thrift store tomorrow. Thank God I can get rid of my carpet shampooer and my steam mop.
Yesterday was my Mom's birthday. She would have been 106. I spent the day reminiscing. I used to call her every weekend. Remember when long distance calls were $.10 a minute? It was more depending on what time of the day you called. You also had to buy your phone or rent it. My MIL rented her phone for years and didn't even know it!
My MIL was on a party line. When Billy used to call me, he knew when his nosy neighbor was listening to our conversation. There was a click when someone picked up the phone. Billy asked her to hang up and not listen to our conversations, lol. I have been looking for one of those vintage table phones in the cream color. You would think you could find one for $5, they are so old! Not so and it's hard to find the color that's not all beat up.
Mom liked to sew, but only by hand. She made a lot of quilts, all by hand. A few of us girls offered to get her a sewing machine, but she didn't want one. She gave me a quilt made out of wool fabric. I found out I'm allergic to wool. ![]()
Janet, sorry about your windshield. Mine has a very tiny crack. I told Greg I was putting clear nail polish on it. It's supposed to keep it from spreading. He suggested getting it replaced, but it's so small, I'm going to wait. I have other expenses ahead of replacing a windshield that doesn't need it yet.

Devonne- mine started with a small star burst. And was that way for months. At that point my son in law told DH to inject some stuff into it but of course didn’t. Then a few months ago we heard a pop and it cracked about 6 inches in each direction but it passed inspection. Noe it’s diagonal across the passengers side. Because the glass , etc has sensors it will have to be recalibrated… $1100-1500! Safelight might have been cheaper but DH didn’t like the guy they sent to do it. So a local shop is doing it Tuesday. 🤷♀️. I don’t care as I’m not a fan of the car and I rarely drive anymore anyway

Hello ladies!
Well, I had a tumble on Wednesday going from my hall to the office. It is one step down and I went down. My ankle must have rolled. I did go to the urgent care on Friday and I have three broken toes and some fractured metatarsal bones. I have a temporary cast on and must go see an orthopedic doc tomorrow to see what the follow up care will be. Perhaps surgery or just therapy. This is the same foot that I broke the ankle on in 2006. ![]()
It is extremely cold an windy, I suppose the kids will not have school again tomorrow since the wind chill is supposed to be negative 20.
I have not done any reading here for the past several days, but hope to get caught up today. I don't have this forum on my ipad. I should do that.
Will check in later. Try to stay warm and dry all!

FRACTURED ENGLISH......
1. WE HAD A LONGER HOLIDAY THAN USUAL THIS YEAR BECAUSE THE SCHOOL WAS CLOSED FOR ALTERCATIONS.
2. AT THE START OF 'THE GRAPES OF WRATH,' OKLAHOMA HAS BEEN HIT WITH A DUST BOWL.
ITS SNOWING HERE AGAIN. I WILL JUST ENJOY THE PRETTY LAZY FLAKES THRU MY WINDOWS.
LINDA.......LUCKY YOU GETTING OUT FOR BREAKFAST. A SIL AND I USED TO DO THAT ONCE A MONTH, HAVING BRUNCH OUT, AND THEN GO TO THE MOVIES. THEN WHEN WE GOT OUT OF THE MOVIES, WE STOPPED FOR AN ICE CREAM. I MISS THOSE FUN DAYS.
I ENJOYED MY LAZY SUNDAY. READ MOST OF THE DAY AND WATCHED MOVIES ON TV AND PLAYED SOLITAIRE A LOT. I REALLY ENJOY THAT GAME.
TODAY I PLAN TO DO MY LAPS, A FEW CHORES, AND THEN COOK SOMETHING WITH MY DEFROSTED GROUND BEEF. MAYBE JUST BURGERS AND FRIES. ITS BEEN AWHILE SINCE I MADE THOSE AND I REALLY LOVE BURGERS.
WISHNG YOU ALL A GOOD DAY. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Cheryl, yikes! Hopefully it will be a boot and not surgery!
While it was sleeting, snowing, sleeting again and snowing again yesterday, the circulating pump on our heater went out, again. It got down to 59 in here before the heater guy got here today. It’s a new pump, it last went out mid December. Guy replaced it in 15 minutes. He said the boss is contacting the distributor because this is ridiculous. We have a service contract, but the boss still has to pay the worker, so he’s motivated to figure out what’s going on. Good thing we have an electric blanket!
Sally the temperature snake is growing! I did another twenty something rows yesterday. I put a pic up on my blog. I’m also working on Steph and Dan’s Christmas tree skirt, I did another strip set today. Two down, one to go. They are coming in February, so the goal is to have it done so they can take it back to Oregon with them.
I put in a Walmart grocery order, I’m out of milk and needed a few other things.
Stay warm everyone except Trish, and Trish stay cool.

So cold today but at least the sun is out! Burritos for dinner. Easy.

EXCUSES, EXCUSES!
1. "MY SON IS UNDER THE DOCTOR'S CARE AND SHOULD NOT TAKE P.E. TODAY," WROTE A PARENT. "PLEASE EXECUTE HIM."
2. "PLEASE EXCUSE MARY FOR BEING ABSENT," WROTE ANOTHER PARENT. "SHE WAS SICK AND I HAD HER SHOT."
WE GOT A BIT MORE SNOW YESTERDAY BUT TODAY IS SUNNY AND COLD AGAIN. THE COLD SNAP FOR US IS EXPECTED THIS WEEKEND. BRRRRR.
HOLLY......THE TIMING WAS RIGHT ON YOU LOSING YOUR HEAT PUMP. BEST ITS FIXED BEFORE THE COLD BLAST COMING AHEAD.
BJ.......GOOD TO SEE YOU POSTING. YES, WE HAVE TO SEE OUR DOCTOR'S WHEN THEY ASK. THEY ARE WHAT KEEPS US GOING.
CHERYL......HOWS THE FOOT? ARE YOU IMPROVING AT ALL?
I MADE BURGERS WITH FROZEN FRIES LAST NITE AND HAVE ENOUGH LEFTOVERS FOR TODAY. MY CHORES ARE NOT MANY. I DID MY LAPS THIS MORNING AND MY RIGHT KNEE KEPT TRYING TO BUCKLE UNDER ME SO I GUESS I WILL BABY THAT KNEE TODAY. MAYBE I SLEPT WRONG.
MY ORDERED BOOKS ARE ON THEIR WAY SO I WILL HAVE SOME GOOD READING COMING ALONG SOON. IN THE MEANTIME I AM READING ANOTHER COZY MYSTERY FROM MY DAUGHTER. THIS ONE BY LAURA CHILDS. I WILL ALSO BE WATCHING A COUPLE OF THE BRITISH MIDSOMER MURDER SHOWS I'VE SAVED ON MY TV TO REWATCH TIME AND AGAIN. I HAVE A FEW FAVORITES I NEVER TIRE OF LIKE BEYOND THE GRAVE, A RARE BIRD, ORCHIS FATALIS, BLUE HERRING, DEAD IN THE WATER, THE GREAT AND THE GOOD AND A FEW OTHERS.
ITS COFFEE MORNING AND I STOPPED BY TO SAY 'GOOD MORNING' TO THE GANG. I DID NOT WANT TO BE TEMPTED BY THE MUFFINS AND COFFE CAKE SO DID NOT STAY. THEY SHARE SOME GOOD THINGS, MOSTLY STORE-BOUGHT BUT OCCASIONALLY HOMEMADE THAT MORNING. I AM TRYING TO GET ON THE LOSING SIDE OF MY EATING PLAN WATCHING AGAIN. I HAVE LOST 1 LB SO FAR. BUT, OF COURSE, I HAD GAINED 5 SO ITS STILL A BATTLE.
I REALLY HAVE TO STOP LOOKING UP NEW RECIPES TO TRY. I HAVE SO MANY NOW, BOTH CASSEROLES AND CROCKPOT MEALS. OH YES, AND SKILLET MEALS. I HAVE A FEW FAVORITES IN THAT CATEGORY, TOO.
THIS WEEK I NEED TO MAKE MY SON HIS FAVORITE TATER TOT SAUSAGE CASSEROLE TO TAKE HOME. HE IS GROCERY SHOPPING FOR ME THIS WEEKEND.
I AM THINKING OF MAYBE BUYING ANOTHER BREAD MACHINE. I USED TO LOVE HAVING FRESH BREAD WHEN I WANTED IT. MY LAST ONE STOPPED WORKING AND ITS BEEN A FEW YEARS NOW SINCE I MADE HOMEMADE BREAD. I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO LOOK UP A FEW ONLINE AND DECIDE.
THAT'S IT LADIES. MY NOTEPAD IS EMPTY OF ANYTHING INTERESTING. STAY SAFE AND WARM. HUGS, QB S ![]()

It’s 23 out which is today’s high! Nice and sunny. I’m seeing that a lot of the country could get a lot of snow this weekend, depending on conditions.
Heather took Eddie and Julie’s picture this morning as they headed out to the first day of spring semester. Both in hoodies! Heather asked if Jules wanted gloves, and Jules looked at her like it was the most absurd thing she ever heard.
I got the 3rd and last strip set sewn together for the tree skirt. Three weeks til Steph and Dan come for a visit! And 3 weeks til Baby Boone’s first birthday, so I want both projects done by then.
Dinner will be leftovers and maybe salad. Janet, what do you put in your burritos?

Cheryl, what a terrible injury for missing one step. I hope you can have therapy and no surgery. ![]()
Holly, you are on a roll with the sewing! I haven't sewn anything since my C diagnosis/surgery. I have plenty of projects in my sewing room, but I have lost interest.
I haven't made it to the thrift store yet. I'm still finding things to donate and put in my vehicle. I took pictures out of some frames & can donate those instead of putting back in the closet. I want this to be the last trip for awhile.

CHERYL what a dreadful accident, hope you are OK and no surgery is needed ((((hugs)))) sometimes the smallest things create havoc.
DEVONNE Megan is purging at her house too, wonder what it is about January that makes us want to do that, a new year?, I know in her case it's the long holiday times she has.
SANDRA after you mentioning Joanne Fluke I am re reading her books, I have been fascinated by the "plug in to power" for cars in Winter, do they still do that?? How does it work I wonder, maybe a bit like an electric blanket for a car LOL
Enjoy your reading and maybe think about the bread machine, do you really want to eat all that bread ? I am not tempted, even though I make a loaf each week, sometimes I have a slice when I get back from training, but not often. I do fancy a slice of coffee cake now you have mentioned it, lucky I don't have any LOL
BJ I hope you are feeling OK and the DRs visit goes well ((((hugs)))
STRINGS I am glad you are posting so often now, we miss those who don't post much, It's nice to have you chatting with us!
JANET I am interested too, do you use beef or turkey mince, I make mine with turkey quite a bit, I use it for Spag sauce too, after it's cooked they wouldn't know if it was beef anyway LOL I'm sorry about the windscreen we can claim ours on insurance, but we can also have someone come out and do a repair if it's only a small crack, they kind of suck out the crack, interesting to watch, I had one years ago. Touch wood we don't get one on the Mazda, it's got the computerised stuff.
HOLLY that is a lot of sewing, I am still struggling to get my EPP blocks finished, I am just not happy with them, but I need to get them done, going to try to finish some ordinary blocks to get me into the sewing mood!
I was also going to ask, do your new cars that have all the images on the windscreen also that show you speed cameras, red light cameras, and if you veer out of your lane, the bit that drives me nuts is the "driver alert" frightened the life out of me first time it went off LOL when we use Waze for driving it shows our speed and the speed limit on the screen too and if someone is parked on the side of the road.
I have been watching an old series The Librarians with Noah Wilde, also we have been watching - THANK YOU THERESA - Only Murders in the Building, it's different. I am restricting him to one episode a night, and we watch together, I do like Martin Short in it, Steve Martin is also, and now an appearance by Sting ( from the group Police)
