Almost forgot to bring this up, I was just going to post, then remembered it's Sunday - well here it is anyway LOL
We've had a lovely cool day today, so welcome after the last few days, no AC and the doors open, I went to sewing, we had 'bring a plate' for our end of year, I brought Christmas Crack, NOT what it might sound like
, absolutely no nutritional value, it's crackers (Saltine) and then you melt butter and brown sugar, boil it a bit, put it over the layer of Saltines (usually 8 or 12 laid out) then in the oven for about 8 mins, then chocolate bits over the top - allow to melt and smooth oven, then decorate with sprinkles, everyone loved it ![]()
It's all the rage here, with lots of variations. It was so hot yesterday that it wouldn't set properly, but it did eventually.
SANDRA I hope you got your tater tot done, I bet he took sandwiches as well, he's a growing boy, needs food
So good to hear the guy is doing well with his hip, it takes a while to get back to using it properly, I have heard that knee surgery is worse though, the hips recover more quickly.
DEVONNE I would have to say YUK!!! I hate liver and onions, the Mr likes it, but he won't get it here. I just can't - no matter what. I think it's like steak and kidney, you like it or don't ![]()
CHERYL I think you're right about Days and the others, I must look them up, see if they screen here still, I rarely watch TV so no idea, I mostly watch a show on Britbox, or sometimes Netflix.
HOLLY well done on the pillow cases, they will love them,We are boring, just plain white or beige to match the plain white or beige sheets. I haven't had coloured pillow cases or sheets for years, Use to have printed flannel sheets when I was younger, but they feel too hot for me now.
Yesterday was brutal here, I had to go to the mall to order my sunglasses, got home as soon as I could, did training, and we were all melting by the end -- And we took it easy. Should have gone to the early class ![]()
I need to get some washing out, decided to do a load tonight, just my tops and pants. I will still have more to do tomorrow, but may as well get a start.
Have a lovely Sunday!!

READER'S DIGEST.....LIFE IN UNIFORM......
1. A KEY BATTLE BETWEEN THE BRITISH AND AMERICAN NAVIES IN THE WAR OF 1812 TOOK PLACE ON LAKE CHAMPLAIN, WHICH BORDERS NEW YORK, VERMONT AND QUEBEC. AFTER THE WAR, THE U.S. BUILT A NEARLY IMPENETRABLE LIMESTONE FORT ON THE SHORE, WITH 125 CANNONS POINTING OUT AT THE WATER. ANY BRITISH SHIPS SAILING FROM CANADA WOULD BE SITTING DUCKS. BUT TWO YEARS INTO ITS CONSTRUCTION SOMEONE DECIDED TO SURVEY THE AREA. AND, AS THE NEW ENGLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY POINTS OUT, "THE FORT DESIGNED TO PROTECT THE UNITED STAES FROM CANADA WAS IN.....CANADA." HENCE THE NAME: FORT BLUNDER.
ITS COLD BUT NO SNOW YET. I DOUBT WE WILL GET MUCH TODAY.
MY XMAS GIFTS TO ME CAME YESTERDAY, A ROYAL BLUE ANORAK, LIGHTWEIGHT BUT AMAZINGLY WARM, A PAIR OF LIGHT GRAY WALKING SHOES AND A PAIR OF PINK SLIPPERS. ALL ARE FITTING RIGHT AND I LIKE. SO I AM PLEASED WITH SANTA THIS YEAR.
HOLLY......I LIKE HOW YOUR TOWN HAS STEPPED UP TO RECYCLING. ITS WONDERFUL. ALL CITIES AND TOWNS SHOULD DO THAT. WE HAVE TO THINK OF OUR GRANDKIDS AND THEIR KIDS FUTURES.
MY SON DROPPED IN WITH A SWEATER THAN NEEDS FIXING SO HE STAYED FOR LUNCH AND FINISHED THE TATER TOT CASSY. HE ASKED FOR IT SPECIFICALLY. I WAS GLAD HE ATE IT. I WAS HAVING SOME SAUSAGE PATTIES WITH RYE TOAST, TEA AND O.J. FOR MY BRUNCH. HE EVEN WAS NICE ENUF TO TAKE OUT MY TRASH FOR ME SINCE I HAD BAGGIED AND FROZEN MY MEATS AND HAD THOSE WET MEATY TRAYS TO TOSS OUT TODAY. I ALWAYS PLAN TO TAKE OUT MY TRASH AFTER THAT PROJECT.
ITS MY DAY OF REST AND I WILL BE WATCHING TV AND READING MOSTLY. I WILL EAT WHATEVER I CAN FIND. NO COOKING FOR ME TODAY.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY WITH RELAZING MOMENTS TO ENJOY. HUGS FOR ALL, QB S ![]()

We were under a dense fog advisory last night and this morning. It didn't lift under around 10:30. It's a dreary looking day.
I was all set to get out of the house after I got my shower, but I didn't feel like going after I got dressed. I chose to stay home and find a movie(s) to watch. Don't beat me over the head, but I had never watched Miracle on 34th Street. I finally watched it, the old black & white version from the 1940's. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I may one day watch the newer in color version. Now I need to watch It's A Wonderful Life. I have started it so many times, but never finished it.
I used to watch Another World many years ago. I couldn't tell you anything about it now, it's been so long.
Made my liver & onions in the air fryer. It's only the second time I've fixed them and they turned out great. They will be for dinner.
Gary texted me and said Caleb's team won the southeastern championship. This morning was the final championship game. They left Thursday for Myrtle Beach. Somehow, in between rain, they managed to get the games in. Next weekend they are driving to Texas. A crazy schedule that's not for me. I feel like I let Caleb and Gary down because E's parents are always there...even for practices! They drove their RV to Myrtle Beach, are driving from there straight to Texas and flying to Puerto Rico next summer. Just call me a not involved great grandmother.

Devonne, some folks are just nuts about sports. Call me cynical, but I find those travel teams and “championships” a big scam. Someone is making a lot of money off them- all the travel, hotels, meals, etc. And what’s the real value of the championships? Good thing I had girls who were not into sports.
Sandra, our area started recycling the year Steph was born, so 1983. We’ve been limited to 1’s and I think 2’s. With the new cans, we can do 5’s also.
Ralph just heard on the news that the Port of Tampa is fogged in, and cruise lines can’t get out!
Our town Xmas parade is tonight, we never go. Too cold.
Mike and Samantha took baby Boone to see Santa. She’s 10 months old, and the look on her face was “Help me!”
Trish, I saw that Australia is implementing new guidelines for teens and the internet. Will that effect your grandsons?
Offline
Dreary and gray today here too. Yuck. I hate it.
I went to get some groceries and that was the extent of my day.
I do have a new jigsaw puzzle to start, but have not done that either. I watched a couple episodes of 48 hours on the TV and was lazy. I pulled a container of chili and a container of pasta fagioli from the freezer and we will have that for supper.
Devonne, great grandmothers do no need to go to travel games in my opinion. We did our "sports time" as mothers. I don't get down 2 hours to Columbus to see my grandson's sports much. We do try to get to one ball game or one running match each season. Neither Gabriel nor Amelia do any sort of sports, so no issue here with them.
Trish, we make that exact Christmas Crack every year as it is the favorite of the grandkids. Easy and delicious.
Still have all the fall items up and no Christmas. ![]()

Schools , businesses, etc have already closed for tomorrow.
When we were in NY we had separate cans for garbage, recycling cans and bottles and newspapers. It was a pain. Then one day I happened to be at the bottom of the driveway when the truck came and emptied all the stuff that I had separated into the same truck. That was the end of my separating.

JANET we have separate trucks for household garbage, recycling and green waste (food waste, garden/lawn clippings etc) the recycling is in a separate depot and it's then sorted to paper, plastics glass etc and then some is used in manufacturing. Amazing how much general waste it cuts down on.
HOLLY they will get used to it, we've had separate bins for many years (around 1990s I think ) we have collection for household every week, and green every week, and recycling every 2 weeks. The cans, bottles can also be taken to a collection point, you get 10c for each, mounts up, the boys often get around $80 when they take all theirs - we give them ours too.
SANDRA I hope you have a quiet relaxing day, I know you really appreciate getting the shopping done, it's a big jb, even putting everything away. That's the bit I dislike most LOL
CHERYL it's addictive isn't it, but so bad for you, once a year is enough
The girls all loved it, and not much of the container came home. Now I want to restrict the Mr to one piece a day, he tends to grab one one the way past the kitchen every time ![]()
DEVONNE they are in a different position to you, you are on your own, they might like the trip away. I only went to the boys local games, the only distance I travel to is when the Mr plays in the Australian Open, and that is a holiday break for me as well, plus I an see my cousins up there, I rarely see them, so it's nice to catch up.
I'm glad you enjoyed your liver,
everyone is different, I love raw oysters, you would probably hate them, AND raw fish "cooked" with lemon or lime juice.
I went to yoga, have done all the washing and changed the linen, and cleaned the bathrooms, currently trying to do my advent jigsaw puzzle, they are in the wrong boxes, annoying, as I have been through most of the boxes now to sort it out. I took a pic of my other jigsaw I finished, It's pretty, it was a bit tough to begin with, but what I thought the hardest would be, the dark on the bottom was quite quick. I'll post it later. The computer doesn't like the postage site, hard to get the pic on - although having said that, I will try again, sometimes they sort themselves out ![]()

Well figured it out, they have changed how you do it on the website, but it did work ![]()

Sorry, it did look OK, but has put the pic off to the side, I'll go back to doing on the iPad ![]()

HOLLY I forgot to answer you, yes, we do have a social media ban for under 16s from Dec 10, it will be interesting to see how some kids react, the ones who demand that mum and dad give them everything LOL, I think it's a good idea, I have never liked kids being on Facebook Instagram Snapchat etc, and they have to have documented age proof as far as I know, no idea how it works, the boys are too old, and neither do much FB or Instagram, they do have chats with school friends but we are lucky, their friends are all lovely, no issues with any of them.
Time will show how it goes, there will be a lot of kids looking for something to do without their phones, although most schools have banned phones during the school day now, it's an automatic detention at Dean's for being caught using it, even in break time.
Offline
I agree with the social media limitations for young ones. Amelia is 12 and has her own phone, but her dad does not allow Snapchat, TicToc or Instagram. I thinks she does do Facebook. My grandaughter, Abby, who is 17 does them all. She is always on Snapchat or Instagram or one of the other programs those teens use.
Phones are also banned at all the schools in Ohio during the school day. Gabriel is allowed to have his during after school band practice. During school, the phone may be in the backpack or in the lockers, but not on the child's person. It also must be turned off. I know some parents raised a stink about it because they want their kid to have a phone in case they want to message them. In todays world I can understand the phone being where they can reach it, but they do not need to be on it during the day. Kids find a way to communicate during school anyway. Amelia said all they have to do is email each other or they send Google slides to one another and they can comment on the slides.
Kids can be smart some times.
Another cold day, but at least the sun is shining. We have two feral cats hanging around cause I fed them. Now I worry about the cold. Dean says we are not going to put out homes for them. My neighbor lady keeps her garage door open a few inches and the cats all congregate there.
Trish, your puzzle was beautiful.

READER'S DIGEST....LIFE IN UNIFORM......
1. BACK IN THE '50S, WHEN MY DAD AND HIS PALS, NEWLY MINTED MARINES, GOT THEIR FIRST WEEKEND OFF, THE SERGEANT SAT THEM DOWN FOR "THE TALK." HE WARNED THEM ABOUT WHO, WHAT AND WHERE TO AVOID, AND HE EVEN DISCUSSED THOSE DREADED LETTERS: VD.
"DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I MEAN WHEN I SAY 'VD?' THE SERGEANT ASKED THE YOUNG MEN.
ONE OF THEM SAID, "VITAMIN DEFICIENCY?"
ITS COLD AND SUNNY. WE GOT A FEW FLAKES BUT IT WAS NEGLIGIBLE. DOESN'T MATTER TO ME SINCE I STAY INDOORS ANYWAY.
TRISH.......LOVE THAT PUZZLE BUT TO ME IT LOOKS TOO DIFFICULT. ALL THOSE SIMILAR PIECES MUST HAVE BEEN TOUGH TO FIT IN THE RIGHT PLACES.
WOULD YOU MIND POSTING THE RECIPE FOR THE XMAS CRACKERS? SOUNDS LIKE AN EASY AND SWEET THING FOR XMAS. I NEED THE PORTIONS.
TODAY I MADE OUT THE XMAS CARDS FOR THIS BLDG. I WILL DELIVER THEM THIS EVENING AT THEIR DOORS. I WILL ALSO BE MAKING MY FIRST BATCH OF ITALIAN COOKIES THIS AFTERNOON. I HAVE A GOODIE PLANNED FOR EVERY DAY THIS WEEK AND NEXT SO I DO NOT GET TOO TIRED DOING TOO MUCH IN ONE DAY.
I MADE SHELL PASTA WITH MEAT SAUCE YESTERDAY SO I HAVE SUFFICIENT LEFTOVERS FOR A FEW DAYS.
I HAD A FREE BOOK OFFER UNTIL THE 9TH SO I ORDERED 3 BOOKS FROM THRIFTBOOKS TO GET THE DEAL. THEY SHOULD BE HERE THIS WEEK. THEY ARE ALREADY ON THEIR WAY. MYSTERIES WITH DOGS IN THE SCENERIO. MY FAVORITE TYPE.
I HAD HOPED TO SEW THIS MORNING BUT TIME FLEW PAST. I WOKE UP AFTER TEN THIS MORNING SINCE I FELL ASLEEP AFTER 3:15 (LAST LOOK AT CLOCK). WOKE FOR MOTHER NATURE AROUND 6 AND PILLS, THEN BACK TO BED.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY. HUGS, QB S ![]()

Trish, what a beautiful puzzle! It would be hard to tear that one apart! The one I am working on now is a 500 pc. hummingbird with lots of colorful flowers. There are so many oranges, pinks and greens. I thought a puzzle with lots of different colors would be easier? I don't think so, lol.
Cheryl, you can take a plastic storage bin (with a lid), turn it upside down, cut a small hole in the side and throw a blanket in there for the cats. Just saying....lol. ![]()
I was going to fix peanut butter balls, but changed my mind. I'm going to make the Ritz crackers with peanut butter and dip them in almond bark. I'm also making chocolate Christmas cupcakes with vanilla cream icing and sprinkles. On the fence about peanut butter fudge, but I do love to make it. That's it and all of it will go out of this house, lol.

I remember making the Christmas crack in the early 90’s! I haven’t made it in years.
I just finished Priscilla Presley’s memoir, Softly as I leave You. I knew very little about her, other than she was on Dallas and was married to Elvis. She’s in her 80’s now, and has had s much loss. First Elvis, later her grandson k*lled himself, then Lisa Marie died. The book was well written, very chatty, and the losses part so sad. She talks about when she married Elvis, how the man was the head of the household and the boss, and the woman’s job was to look pretty and please him. It was another time and place. I recommend the book.
I felt lousy yesterday, and slept a lot of the day. I feel much better today. While the house cleaner made her monthly visit, I worked on bowl cozies.
Devonne, I tend to do that, bake and give it away. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth anymore, and I’m down 40 pounds, so I don’t want to mess that up.
I have meat loaf mix defrosting. Tomorrow will be meatloaf, and the other half of the packages of duchess potatoes and broccoli.
Offline
HOLLY well done on the 40 pounds, it takes a while but makes such a difference to our joints.
Hope you feel better after resting the day. I always felt sorry for Pricilla, she was just a child when she married Elvis, I loved him in the early days, he sang gospel beautifully.
DEVONNE how do you do the ritz and almond bark, sounds interesting! The colourful puzzles are sometimes easier if you do little sections and then put them together later - I store them on sheets of paper, I have had 4 or 5 sheets with bits made up, I tend to do jigsaws by shape, and I don't usually use the picture, I did for the birds and butterflies in the last one, just so I had an idea where they went eventually.
CHERYL I did love the puzzle, and some parts were not easy, it was 1000 piece one, all mine seem to be that. I do enjoy doing them though. Your bans sound like ours. I was never in favour of phones at school, I understand the need for after school - but they need to enjoy the breaks playing and socialising. Chalon is a teacher at the school and she said Dean and his friends are all a joy to watch -- they play handball mostly, and chatter away, all around the 16/17 mark. Not really into girls, they find them annoying LOL
The puzzle is already in it's box, my Advent calendar one has started, I had to catch up to 7th, and found so many pieces in the wrong box, plus 4 of them in no boxes at all, so I have been through every small box, and now I'm up to date.
SANDRA I posted the recipe for you, if you google the name there will be lots of info come up, they may help you understand the laying out process. It's easy, I just added my 2 cents worth to the recipe. Glad you had a long sleeping after being in bed so late, that was when I was waking up LOL I get to sleep at a reasonable hour, but wake in the early hours, and can't sleep.
I need to get the kitchen cleaned up, we had dinner, and mostly it's clean, but we had a bit of a mishap this morning, and I want to check the fridge again, apparently a jar of sun-dried tomatoes in oil was on it's side and leaked and the oil was all over the bottom of the fridge, the veg crisper had to come out and the whole thing took a while to clean up thank heavens for paper towel, it did most of the mess.
It's been another hot day today, but we have a breeze tonight, so the A/C can go off in a bit, nice to have that breeze.

1. ENGINEERS FROM THE U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY SURVEYED SOME PROPERTY AND FOUND THAT IN A CERTAIN AREA, THE NEW HAMPSHIRE--MAINE BORDER HAD TO BE CHANGED. THEY STOPPED TO INFORM A FARMER THAT HE WAS NO LONGER IN MAINE, BUT IN NEW HAMPSHIRE.
"GOOD," HE SAID. "I COULDN'T TAKE ANOTHER OF THOSE MAINE WINTERS."
OOH, IT WAS SO COLD, 6 BELOW ZERO AT 8 AM, THAT I TOOK PICTURES OF THE 'SMOKE ON THE WATERS.' IT WAS SO PRETTY AND STILL IS SMOKING. BUT ITS SUNNY OUT.
TRISH.....THANK YOU FOR THE 'CRACK' RECIPE. I ALWAYS HAVE SALTINES AROUND AND CHOCOLATE BITS. I THINK I WILL TRY IT THIS YEAR.
HOLLY......I SAW PRISCLLA PRESLEY ON A TALK SHOW JUST AFTER HER DIVORCE, AND SHE MENTIONED THAT ELVIS WOULD NOT MAKE LOVE TO A WOMAN IF SHE HAD HAD A BABY. A WEIRD PROBLEM BUT IT LEAD TO THEIR DIVORCE. THAT'S WHY HE MARRIED HER SO VERY YOUNG.
TODAY I WILL MAKE SOME PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE. I MADE THE ITALIAN WINE COOKIES YESTERDAY. MMM, SO GOOD BUT I ONLY ATE 2, ONE FROM EACH BATCH BUT ONLY TO BE SURE THEY WERE COOKED ALRIGHT. THAT'S MY STORY AND I'LL STICK WITH IT.
NOTHING ELSE PLANNED FOR THE DAY. I ORDERED A COUPLE MORE BOOKS SINCE I HAD ANOTHER FREE BOOK OFFER. ONE OF THEM IS 'GROWING UP URKEL' BY JALEEL WHITE. I HOPE ITS AS INTERESTING AS I THINK. I FIND HIM SO TALENTED AND AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE. I CONTINUE TO REWATCH HIS SHOW, 'FAMILY MATTERS' TO THIS DAY. HE WAS HIRED FOR ONLY THE ONE SHOW BUT HE WAS A HIT FROM HIS FIRST APPEARANCE. HE IS NOW THE HOST ON A GAME SHOW, "FLIP SIDE" WHICH I FIND ENTERTAINING, TOO. RERUNS CAN BE SEEN ON TBS AND BET CHANNELS.
THAT'S IT FROM ME. I HAVE TO GET OUT THERE AND DO MY LAPS AND LATER STOP IN AT THE COFFEE MORNING GROUP TO SEE WHAT'S NEW. BUT THAT ISN'T TIL 9:30
STAY WARM. HUGS, QB S ![]()

It was 29 when I got up at 8:30 and a beautiful white frost on the ground.
Sandra said she got kicked off and wasn't able to post the pictures. Maybe she can later.
Trish, the Ritz crackers are so easy and really popular here. You just put peanut butter between two crackers to make the sandwich, melt your almond bark, and dip the Ritz cracker sandwiches in the almond bark. I use tongs, some use a fork. I melt mine in a double boiler, but you can melt the bark in the microwave. Put them on parchment paper or wax paper and add sprinkles if you like.
Holly, so proud of you for losing 40 lbs.! That is quite an accomplishment.
I know a lot about Elvis and Priscilla because I've been reading and watching videos about him/her and the Memphis Mafia for the last 3 years. She dyed her hair black because he wanted her to look like him. He was very controlling even with what clothes she wore. A lot of his body guards and friends tried to help him when he got into the drugs, but Elvis was very stubborn. He was quick to tell them he needed these drugs to function and to back off. I wasn't an Elvis fan, but I found his life fascinating. He was a loner even with all the women he had. Priscilla did the right thing by leaving him.

AN UPDATE. I TRIED TO POST PICS THRU POSTIMAGES AS USUAL. WHEN I GOT THERE IT KEPT HITTING ME WITH BLOCKS THAT SAID I WAS INFECTED BY 5 VIRUSES AND GET PROTECTION NOW. ADS KEPT POPPING UP OVER AND OVER AGAIN FOR 3 DIFFERENT VIRUS PLANS TO BUY. I HAVE MCAFFEE PROTECTION AND IT WAS JUST RENEWED IN JULY SO I KNOW I WAS COVERED. SO I RAN A FULL MCAFEE SCAN THAT TOOK ABOUT 2 HRS AND THERE WERE NO VIRUSES FOUND. I AM SAFE.
BUT IN FUTURE I WILL NOT BE USING POSTIMAGES. INSTEAD I WILL POST TO MY BLOC AND LET YOU KNOW THAT THERE'S PICS TO SEE.
