Afternoon y'all! ![]()
Thanksgiving will be here. Just 4 of us. Luke is crushed he won't make it! We told him to not worry, we will have years like this for all 3 of them! Price of kids growing up! ![]()
We will oven roast a turkey. Green stuff (pistachio salad), 3 cheese roni, and fried okra. Not a big spread. ![]()
Hubby got me the Chex mix snoopy tin! I love it! ![]()
I have finished my Christmas cards!!!! ![]()
I finished the OBW!!!!!!!!!![]()
![]()
I have inches left on the last binding for Alex's placemats, Luke's are done! ![]()
Need to go upstairs and wrap the gifts I already bought! ![]()
Yesterday we went to my MIL's. Told her if she could get some ham and turkey, we would have sandwiches, and we would bring desserts and a side. So she bought a bunch of ham and turkey, cooked bacon, made several sides, and several desserts along with snack food! I now have too much sweets in the house, I'm at a loss! She said we were not specific. I heard my hubby tell her several times what the plan was, and she repeated it back to him! ![]()
Saturday, we went to the UGA game. Timothy Miller, a local opera singer, sang God Bless America at the game. He is so good, it sends goose pimples when he sings. You can tell he loves it! ![]()
I believe you are now caught up on my little corner of the world! ![]()
Later my Friends! ![]()

Forgot to give you a Simba story. Last night I moved the purchased gifts around to find something. This morning Simba growled at the newly arranged pile! Jumped off the bed toward them, crept backwards, crept forward, barking and growling, until he got close enough to sniff them! I was protected! Those dangerous gifts will not get me! ![]()

Theresa, when you mentioned pistachio salad it brought back lovely memories for me. My mom always made that green pistachio salad for Thanksgiving. My boys did not care for it, so it was not a part of our dinner spread. That Simba sounds like a hoot!!! Lots of fun for sure.
Today I took another load to the thrift store for donation. I had 10 button down sweaters that I used to wear to work that I will not wear again, so off they went. i did keep a black and a white one. You know, just in case!! ![]()
Trish, I was in the Amish store on Saturday and I saw a jam called Christmas Jam. I read the ingredient label and It sounds like the jam you mentioned with the apples, strawberries and spices. I bought one to try.
Nothing much to say today, so will close.

Cheryl, we get Christmas jam at our Amish market, so good!
Janet, I only answered because it said Virtua Hospital, and some of our docs are Virtual.
Theresa, the original name is Watergate salad for some reason. My kids call it green gunk! Theresa, it’s hard being separated at Thanksgiving. When Manda decided to go to Embry Riddle University in Daytona, my first call was to my brother John to see if he’d take her for Thanksgiving. He and Morgan were so happy to have her!
Corn casserole is in the oven, ham is in the crockpot. I made another pillowcase, and have 4 more cut out.

You have to be so careful these days when answering the phone, I always let it go to messages, and my mobile is set to screen unknown numbers, if they want me they'll leave a message, I get probably 3-4 on home AND mobile each day, annoying!!
ABOUT MY JAM, if you want the recipe I can send you a link, it has a toggle at the recipe to change to US measurements, BUT I would absolutely do 1/2 quantities, it makes at least 6 full cup measurements of jam in the 1/2 recipe size. I filled 6 of 1 cup jars with a small jar of leftover.
THANK YOU again for my birthday wishes, I was so lucky to get a new Garmin watch, it's gorgeous, and so light compared to my old one, they surprised me this year, I had no idea and all my gifts were a surprise, got a new jigsaw as well, it's so pretty!
We had a nice dinner and then came back for cake, no one wanted coffee, so it was just cake, and a chat then early bed!
DEVONNE I look forward to pics of the house when they move in!! Going to be great, and a good idea to set some things up for them, I got odd bits and pieces for Megan & Gary when they first bought, then when they moved, kettles, laundry hampers, cleaning stuff, all that sort of "odd" stuff LOL
SANDRA enjoy those cuddles, I love when Oscar cuddles up to me, and it's also nice to go home! The little devil has decided that NOTHNG should move outside without his barking, he gets chastised, but he cares for about 2 seconds and off again!! Naughty boy!
THERESA poor little Simba, he must have been scared! Some of them are so scared of anything different. I know you will have a good day even without Luke (((hugs)))
I did my training then decided I may as well get my nails done as I had to go to the mall to get the sleep gummies, our store had no stock and the 1/2 price finishes today.
Really hot today, and going to be worse tomorrow, then hot till next week, thank heavens for A/C.
I might get some needlework done, I need to pack up some things for Friday's class, I am taking cake for Julie's 70th, Sara's B/Day on 11th and mine, we may as well make a celebration of it all ![]()
I need to find some space for my new bowls, I see some more clean out happening, maybe I will wait, I would like to rearrange the whole kitchen, Megan will help if I wait till the Dec/Jan holidays, she will be home for 8 weeks. I was going to make more chutney, but tomorrow it can happen, I saw some cheaper jars (and smaller) in Kmart.

I ordered wrap n zap from amazon, it was supposed to come yesterday. Got email last night that it was delayed and will come December 1. I checked online and both Hobby Lobby and Michael’s near me have it in store, so I planned to go get some today. Good thing I didn’t get an early start, at 9 a.m. the mail person delivered my order.
Both of us were sneezy and sore throats last night, took Claritin and feel fine this morning, so some kind of seasonal allergies.
Anyone ever heard of prosperity hens? I saw a reference to them and googled a tutorial. They are made with 4 inch squares and 1.5 inch squares for the bills, and stuffed, they have a bird shape. You run a string thru them from top to bottom, with beads in between, and hang them up. Maybe a future project.
The corn pudding got a thumbs up from Ralph. We’re having leftover ham and the corn pudding tonight.

Good Morning to everyone!! It is very gray outside, the tallest trees are blowing a bit, but everything down low is very still. Talked to Tracy for a bit this morning, can't remember what we talked about, my mind is very slow!! Not sure if she is coming today or tomorrow!!
Not sure if I mentioned it, but we have a new flag! It is quite beautiful. Well, I don't seem to have a thing to say today, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

It is cold and rainy today, at least it is not snow!!
I went to the grocery store to get the last of the items I need for Thursday. Since Anthony and family will be staying until Saturday, I needed some fresh fruits and some yogurts for breakfast. I did make a potato, bacon, sausage and egg casserole to have on Saturday morning. They are supposed to go over to Emmily's parents and put out the outside Christmas decorations for them.
The grocery store was packed, so I was glad that I had gotten most of the things I needed already. I wanted fresh green beans, and they did not look good again today (two different stores) so I got some frozen ones. I have not used frozen so this will be a first. My family usually used the canned ones.
I made my cranberry/orange sauce this morning. It is good and I love it with turkey.
Holly, I have not heard of prosperity hens, but they sound cute, especially for in the kitchen.
We have not had a land line for years. I was hesitant to be without, but I have not missed it at all. Like most people, we only answer to numbers we know.
I am going to peel and boil my sweet potatoes today and just refrigerate them till Thursday and then will put them in the oven after the turkey comes out. So, better go get to it!

I did 4 pillowcases today, so Heather’s family and Steph and Dan’s are done. Manda had pulled fabric for theirs, so that will be next.
I put the cool whip in the fridge to defrost. Tomorrow morning I’ll make the brownies that will be the base of the Black Forest Trifle, so they can cool thoroughly.
I found a bar cookie recipe that I want to make. You just combine a 15 Oz can of pumpkin puree with a 17.5 oz package of Betty Crocker (I got Aldi brand) chocolate chip cookie mix. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes. I think a 9 inch square pan, I’ll see when I get them mixed.
My sewing room is a controlled mess! Fabric pulled for pillowcases, fabric pulled for bowl cozies. And Janet, you were right, I love the revolving mat, I use it for cutting along the templates for the cozies.
It’s raining and dreary.
Offline
Cold and grey all day. A little rain this afternoon. Thanksgiving promises to be in high 30’s but dry. No matter as we aren’t going out and no one traveling here.
Holly- they just came out with a locking revolving mat. I have no interest but saw it today on line.
Trish- that’s exactly what I do. We haven’t had a land line since we left NY (about 10 years?). I don’t miss it.
I’m baking sweet potatoes. I bake 4-6 at a time and then freeze them and take them out as I need them. Personally, I don’t like them but DH eats them everyday, regardless if the go with the meal or not.
tomorrow I’ll make a pumpkin pie, prep the Brussels sprouts, peel the potatoes for mashed and make the dressing. That will leave the turkey, biscuits, peas and gravy for Thursday. We plan to eat between 2-3. Sounds like a lot for 2 but I will freeze half of the turkey breast and dressing for another time.
We’re having salmon and baked potatoes tonight.

Holly, how was your corn casserole? I made it once and it was just ok. Could have been the recipe! When I worked at the hospital, the cafeteria had "corn fritters." It was like corn bread hush puppies with corn inside. They were delicious.
It's rainy here too...has been on and off all day.
Cheryl, we always bought the large cans of Italian green beans for holidays. I like the french style canned green beans.
Today I got a food delivery from Walmart and I got my prescription delivered too.

WONKY ADS.....
1. WANTED: HAIR-CUTTER. EXCELLENT GROWTH POTENTIAL.
2. WANTED: MAN TO TAKE CARE OF COW THAT DOES NOT SMOKE OR DRINK.
RAIN EXPECTED BUT ITS WARMER TODAY. MAY HIT 51.
I NEVER WATCH DANCING WITH THE STARS ANYMORE BUT DID THIS SEASON SINCE SOME OF THE NAMES WERE FAMILIAR TO ME. THE WINNER WAS CHOSEN LAST NITE. IN CASE SOMEONE HAS RECORDED BUT NOT WATCHED IT YET, I WILL NOT GIVE THE NAME. IT WAS A GOOD YEAR. MOST DANCERS I NEVER KNEW BUT A FEW WERE FAMILIAR.
TONITE IS BINGO NITE.
TODAY I AM GOING TO TRY SOME TUNA PINWHEELS WITH TORTILLAS TO SEE IF THEY ARE SOMETHING THAT MAY WORK AS A FINGER FOOD FOR TAPAS NITE. I ALSO WANT TO BE ABLE TO USE MY TORTILLAS IN A DIFFERENT MANNER THAN BEEF BURRITOS. WHEN I BUY A PACKAGE THERE ARE 10 IN IT AND I CAN NEVER EAT 10 BURRITOS BEFORE I HAVE TO TOSS SOME OUT. THE RECIPE I FOUND ONLINE HAS CREAM CHEESE IN IT BUT I DO NOT LIKE CREAM CHEESE SO WILL TRY IT WITHOUT. MAYBE WITH LESS MAYO SO THEY FIRM UP WELL. I SHALL TEST THEM OUT TONITE.
NOTHING EXCITING PLANNED HERE. MY SON INVITED ME TO TURKEY DINNER TOMORROW BUT HE DOES NOT EVEN HAVE A TABLE YET AND HE HAS HIS SON AND SON'S GIRLFRIEND OR THE MEAL AND HIS MIL STAYING WITH HIM TEMPORARILY SINCE HIS MIL HAS SURGERY ON FRIDAY. I DO NOT WANT TO IMPOSE. MY DAUGHTER ALSO INVITED ME BUT AGAIN, I DO NOT DO WELL IN A PARTY ATMOSPHERE SINCE MY HEARING ABILITY IS VERY AFFECTED. AT LEAST WHEN I'M HERE IN OUR COMMON ROOM I CAN GO HOME TO MY APT AFTER AN HOUR OR SO. WITH MY KIDS I WOULD HAVE TO STAY TIL THEY BROUGHT ME HOME.
TOMORROW I AM MAKING MYSELF SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS WITH STEAK AS WELL. I HAVE NOT HAD THAT FOR AWHILE AND I HAVE A CRAVING.
I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A BIT OF A HERMIT. I CAN BE ALONE AND BE HAPPY. OR I CAN PARTY AS LONG AS ITS NOT FOR TOO LONG. I AM FLEXIBLE WHEN NECESSARY.
TOMORROW I WILL EAT WHEN I FEEL LIKE IT AND WATCH TV, READ A BIT AND DO WHATEVER I LIKE EVEN IF ITS SEWING. I WILL BE CONTENT.
I AM THANKFUL FOR A PRETTY HEALTHY LIFE FOR NOW.
I AM THANKFUL FOR MY FAMILY'S CONCERNS FOR ME AND THEIR ATTENTION.
I AM THANKFUL FOR GOOD FRIENDS HERE AND IN MY BUILDING.
WHAT MORE CAN A PERSON WANT.![]()
IF I FORGET TO POP IN TOMORROW, HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL.![]()

Good Morning to everyone!! There's a strange man in one of my beds, my mind is so shot, not sure who it is!! There's a truck in my yard, so I assume it belongs to him!!
Well, I really don't have a thing to say this morning, so will sign off, wishing you all a wonderful holiday time!! BJ.
Offline
Devonne, I posted the corn casserole recipe, Ralph loves it.
Offline
BJ, I thought you said you have a strange man in YOUR bed! Had to re-read THAT!
It could be true, for me...as in 'there is a STRANGE man in my bed'. Howard, like many men can be strange. Of course, I'm defining that word in my own way. (think I've read too many of QB's quips! ) Love the one that says, "the cow that does not smoke or drink." ![]()
QB, while it seems perfect for you to go to one of your kid's, I fully understand your feelings about that. I, too, am reluctant to venture out where I'm not in control. I can really only go places with Howard or ML at this point, due to being handicapped with walking and/or the need to have to sit when I need to, right now! So...what use to be mindless, now has to be thought out carefully and evaluated as to whether it's worth going to. Fortunately, like you, I'm content at home much more than I would have been in earlier times. "the march of time..." ![]()
We lost power during the night. Howard thinks for about 5 hrs. I slept thru it so "no one" had to listen to me fuss and stew. Even with the whole house generator, I'm always up tight with that.
Today, I'll be making apple-nut squares and the cranberry/orange/raspberry jello dish that Mom always made. Each year, ML and I have the discussion about whether or not to make it and if we do, will anyone eat it? In the end, yes and yes. And the main reason is that it reminds us of Mom and rather honors her memory on this special holiday. ![]()
Trish, the chicken soup/stew recipe is easy to do, but it does require a certain amount of prepartion. So easy or not, is a bit hard to define. It tastes good and we two picky eaters both like it so, I'll post it, later today or in the next few...
Better go and start pulling out ingredients. Some things need to warm up a bit. Have a lovely preparation day if that's what you're doing.

Carol, I hope you had no damage from the tornado!
BJ, I hope you found out who that strange man was!
Judy, I am getting like you. I can't climb stairs anymore, so I can't get in Gary's RV. I only go when it's warm outside and we can sit outside. Greg doesn't have steps. I don't go there as much as I should.
Speaking of manufactured homes, I watch a young couple on YT that bought what H bought and they had the roof raised after they got it on their land. I didn't know that could be done.
I finally got around to trying to remove the bacon grease stains from my sweatshirt. Also had 3 blouses I love that had stains. All of the grease is gone and all of the stains on the blouses. I put Dawn Power Wash directly on the stains and left it on for 30 minutes. I also added regular Dawn. I'm so glad I don't have to throw away anything...happy camper here! ![]()
Sandra, I have never thought of myself as a hermit, but I think I might be. I'm very content to be alone, but I do have Gracie. There's so much you can do...work puzzles, cook, watch movies and documentaries, clean the house, laundry, and You Tube is a never ending source of entertainment for me. I do pay for Netflix, which I need to start using! My greatest enjoyment used to be talking to my sisters. Joann and I talked every day.
Gary asked me this morning why I bought a new car just to keep it in the garage. I guess he has a point, lol. I am headed to Home Depot to look at flooring. I guess most stores will close earlier today. I will go by Gary's place since it's warm outside and he's only 4 miles from HD.

Evening y'all! ![]()
Sounds like everyone has been busy! I finished all 8 placemats. Luke's went in the mail today. All the Christmas cards, that get mailed, went in the mail today. I had 3 bags of boxes and envelopes, walking into the PO today! ![]()
I'm ready for tomorrow. Turkey has been seasoned, green stuff made. It was a bear to find the dish I use. We found it! ![]()
Hubby and I went to Home Depot and got our tree. It is up. We will put lights on in a bit. We need to rest. Been going full steam for the last few days! ![]()
I did post my OBW on Facebook in the COF thread. I need to get the picture on my laptop to post it here. ![]()
Now I am fixing the binding on Sara's quilt. Made it for her when she was a toddler. Hubby threw it in the wash, even though I told him to let it be. I knew I needed to do stuff with the binding. I machine sewed the back and front at the same time and missed a bunch of edges. Those all came loose in the wash. It has been on my fix list for about 20 years. I am sitting with Simba at night and sewing. He loves the cuddle time! ![]()
Nothing else exciting from my little corner of the world! ![]()

I AM THINKING THE STRANGE MAN IN THE BED AT BJ'S MAY BE HER SON-IN-LAW VISITING WITH HER DAUGHTER.
