Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

Bringing this up, AND trying to type with just a few fingers, my "tall" finger on my right hand is bandaged up
I got my delivery of my food chopper, they have a sticker on it says 'do not touch the cutters' did I listen OOPS, lots of blood, it's stopped now, but my finger is out of action
And I wanted to make more jam this afternoon, serves me right

We had a nice lunch, the food was very good, but it was HOT, and we were outside!

HOLLY I think, and DEVONNE may be able to correct me, that modular is built in sections and put onto a permananent base, but the manufactured is put onto a base that can be moved, like a houses on a base with wheels??

DEVONNE he's a good kid, nice meal he's cooked for you!

SANDRA hope you get all you want on your list, it's getting close to TDay, did you get your turkey??

I am having trouble with this, so will check in tomorrow, when In  can - hopefully - use this finger LOL

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

LOST IN TRANSLATION.......
1.  OUTSIDE A HONG KONG TAILOR SHOP:  LADIES MAY HAVE A FIT UPSTAIRS.
2.  IN A BANGKOK DRY CLEANERS:  DROP YOUR TROUSERS HERE FOR BEST RESULTS.

ANOTHER COLD DAY BUT MY LIVING ROOM WINDOW IS OPEN.  IT DROPPED TO THE TEENS HERE LAST NITE BUT NOW IN THE 40S.  STILL 20S AT NITE.  I STILL HAVEN'T TURNED ON MY HEAT.  BEING BOXED IN ALL ALL SIDES KEEPS MY APT TOO WARM.  BUT SOON, THE HEAT WILL HAVE TO BE USED.

TRISH.......I WANTED TO WISH YOU A WONDERFUL DAY FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY TODAY.
SO SORRY ABOUT THE FINGERS.  YOU MUST HAVE GOT A NASTY CUT FROM THOSE BLADES.  I HOPE YOU HEAL QUICKLY.

DEVONNE......HOW WONDERFUL FOR YOUR FAMILY, GETTING A NEW HOME.  AND WITH LOTS OF ROOM AFTER LIVING IN CLOSE QUARTERS FOR SO LONG.  GOOD FOR THEM.  I KNOW THAT APRIL CAN'T COME SOON ENOUGH FOR THEM.  NICE OF YOU TO GIVE THEM YOUR BED.

LINDA.......HOW NICE YOU GOT SOME GOOD FOOD YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO COOK ON YOUR ANNIVERSARY.  YOU AND DARRELL HAVE MADE IT A LONG TIME TOGETHER.  HATS OFF TO YOU BOTH.

ITS NICE EVERYONE SEEMS TO HAVE PLANS FOR T-DAY.  ME, I AM GOING TO MAKE MYSELF SOME SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS I THINK.  I ALREADY HAD MY TURKEY LAST WEEK SO DON'T NEED ANY MORE.  I EAT WELL ALL THE TIME SO NOT HAVING A TURKEY ON T-DAY IS NOT NECESSARY.

TODAY IS MY DAY OF REST.  I CAUGHT UP ON 'THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION' BY KEN BURNS WHICH WERE 5 OR 6 SHOWS AT 2 HOURS EACH ON BOTH OUR PBS STATIONS.  VERY INTERESTING.  THE WAR LASTED FOR 8 LONG MISERABLE YEARS.  I ALWAYS WONDERED WHAT HAPPENED TO BENEDICT ARNOLD.  HE WAS SO USEFUL AT THE BEGINNING OF THE WAR BUT THOUGHT HE SHOULD GET GOOD COMPENSATION FOR HIS EFFORTS.  HE ENDED UP LIVING IN ENGLAND.  AND YES, THERE WAS CORRESPONDENCE IN HIS HAND- WRITING SHOWING HE WAS A TRAITOR TO THE CAUSE AFTER HE MARRIED A YOUNG WOMAN WHO WAS A LOYALIST.

MY NEW AMPLIFIER IS ON ITS WAY SO I SHOULD BE ABLE TO HEAR SOON.  I AM STILL STAYING AWAY FROM THE COMMON AREAS.  I CAN DO JUST FINE IN MY OWN APT.
I NEVER MADE THE PIZZA LAST NITE.  GOT SO CAUGHT UP IN OTHER THINGS IT GOT A LITTLE LATE, SO I SKIPPED IT.  MAYBE TONITE.

NOTHING EXCITING HAPPENING HERE.  HUGS FOR YOU ALL, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

I was vacuuming yesterday and sucked up a sock which managed to get stuck midway up the hose. 😡 I didn’t really want to vacuum anyway. lol.
Our Thanksgiving plans have changed a few times. Now it looks like it’s just the two of us. 🤷‍♀️ DD and son in law may change their plans, but I’ll have plenty of food if they do. Off to sew…I’m working on a BOM from years ago. I only did one block and then set it aside. Now I’m determined to to finish. I’m starting block 3 today.[/size]

GOOD AFTERNOON!

HOLLY, GOOD LUCK. SORRY HAPPENED AGAIN. DARRELL HAS GONE THROUGH SEVERAL SKIN CANCERS. MOHS, DIDN'T LEAVE A SCAR. HOPE I SPELLED IT CORRECTLY. Anyway, best wishes. Know his passing affected all of your family. AS LONG AS SOMEONE IS REMEMBERED, THEY ARE NOT GONE.

TRISH YOU HAVE BEEN VERY BUSY. THANKS FOR COMMENTS.

DEVONNE, GLAD THE FAMILY WILL HAVE A NEW, SPACIOUS NEW HOME. THE DINNER WAS A NICE TREAT.

WE HAD LEFTOVERS FROM OUR DINNER LAST NIGHT. PRETTY GOOD FOR LEFTOVERS.

THINKING OF EVERYONE. PRAYERS..............

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

It's a lovely sunny day here.  Howard is upstairs with the  Chicago Bears and whoever they are playing.
I'm down here, happy as a clam!

Linda, what a nice turn of events--the lovely seafood dinner, w/leftovers...and Barbara.  She is some peach of a person.  The grandson's aunt, if I remember.

Trish, Happy Birthday to you!  Glad you were remembered and  Megan was there, too.  Sorry about your finger.  Janet's right, finger cuts are so debilitating.
And yes,  ML and I are very close.  This sounds corny, but I told her on her birthday that the day she was born changed my life forever and what would I ever have done without her?
It's a lot more than just a mother/daughter thing.  When her dad left us, I lost it for awhile and she literally picked up the pieces at  age, 13.  Then, as time passed,  made some of her life decisions based partly on my welfare, not what she might have wanted.  One reason I'm so thankful for Bill is that he's such a good husband to  her and I feel that makes up for some of that, in maybe a convoluted way.    He's good to me, too, and I never have to "tap dance" around Bill, he's always to same.

Andrew is home for the week.  Came from Chicago on the train to go to a birthday party Sat. afternoon.  He will work from home tomorrow  and Tuesday, then has the rest of the week off.  We, as usual, now, will go to them for Thanksgiving.  I furnished the turkey breast she will crockpot and will also make dessert--my apple/nut cake.  Because we're only 5, we don't make a  big variety of foods as we once did.    So much work and nobody eats that much.  Andrew will make the mashed potatoes and one of us ?? will make the dressing.  And beyond that, I need to check with her again for what else I'm supposed to make.   I have made dressing in the crockpot before and it turns out pretty well.  The part right on the ceramic can end up fairly dry but it tastes just like baked, otherwise.  I let ML take the lead in all this, now.

QB, I'm so happy for Matt and Daphne.  A new house is so nice and smells so good...like a new house!    Mary threw away a good guy and a good life.  Of course, his kind attention to you is what matters to me...

Wonder what to make for supper?  Last night, I made a chicken soup that ends with stirring a brick of very soft cream cheese into it.  Howard, who claims he doesn't care that much for soup, even complimented me on it.  2nd time I made it, so it's a keeper.  We may just have THAT again!

So, with that, I'm off to finish reading the paper and doing whatever.  Blessings to you all.

Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

Trish, so sorry about your finger cuts! I once cut mine grating an onion. You can buy special gloves to wear when your fingers are too close to the grater/chopper.

Janet, I'm sure you meant to say "manufactured" homes are built to HUD standards. The modular homes are restricted to state and local codes. I like the modular because they look more like a real house. The roof lines are nicer. Of course, if roofs were higher on the manufactured homes, they couldn't be transported on the hwy. They may have went this route for financing reasons and definitely for lower monthly payments. I'm just so happy they are getting out of the RV's.

I got the side of the house vacuumed this morning that I call the "not needed" side of the house. This bedroom is where I will stay once they take my bed until I find another mattress/frame. It's an old Big Lots mattress with box springs. I love it! I also have a tv in there. I'm going with a queen, not another king.

I will go to the store tomorrow and get a few things to have on hand. I'm not buying a big ham nor a turkey. I haven't bought potatoes in months. It will be good to fix a few roasted potatoes, even just for me and Greg. He doesn't have Carter this week.

eta: Since no one has posted since me, I'm going to add Gracie's picture here. She is such a good dog and wonderful company.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

Happy Birthday Trish! Ouch on the finger.

The modular vs manufactured is what I kind of thought, the manufactured can be in what used to be called trailer parks. Heather and Ed’s second house was a big modular, two levels with a basement. Their current home is also modular, a rancher with a basement. Ed’s parents had it constructed, and when they moved to Florida, Heather and Ed bought it. Brother John has an old manufactured, on 20 acres in Florida.

I was texting about Joseph with his brother, my nephew Michael, yesterday. He said Boone was being such a handful that he didn’t realize the day at first. They found out Samantha was pregnant on the anniversary of Joe’s death, and they’ve always said he sent her to them. We decided that Joe is laughing his a$$ off in Heaven- the kid does not sleep. She takes catnaps during the day, and thinks 2-4 a.m. is playtime.

I have 6 bowl cozies done for Heather’s family, and ran out of wrap n zap- more being delivered tomorrow. Tonight I did one Christmas pillowcase. Even with having the measurements written down, it took me a bit.

We had leftover pizza from the freezer for dinner. Tomorrow I’m making a ham in the crockpot, and trying a corn casserole.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

Happy birthday, Trish!!

Trish, so sorry about your finger cut.  My niece-in-law just did the same thing when she was cleaning her Ninja blender blades.  She had to get 5 stitches in her thumb.

Holly, I am going to throw a ham into the crockpot on Thursday since some of the people coming prefer ham to turkey....one named Amelia!    She was thrilled when I told her I was also making a small ham.

Dean and I cleaned and cleaned today.  We finally put the living room furniture and tables back.  We were waiting for the carpet to dry.  Since the room was cleared out, we dusted everything, Dean cleaned the windows and the outside screens.  I washed and hung the curtains back up.  I don't have drapes, I have light bright curtains on a rod...no blinds or sheers.    I open them during the day and pull them shut at night.

I am going to make my orange cranberry sauce tomorrow, so that will be done.  It will last till Thursday easily.  My turkey is thawing in the frig.

Devonne, that Gracie is so cute.  I still miss having a dog everyday.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

=26pxHappy Birthday Trish!!!  So sorry about the finger.  Strings, DH cut his using a Mandolin also, he was not using the piece for holding the vegetable.

Everyone seems to be getting ready for the big turkey (ham) day.  I'll make a turkey breast, have potatoes, another vegy and of course jellied cranberries!!  The morning will be spent watching the parade.  Sometimes I watch Miracle on 34th Street in the afternoon.

We are under a winter weather watch for Tuesday and Wednesday,  Predicted 3-7" of snow for our area.  We'll see!!!

We've been busy every morning cleaning out the garage.  Next year it will be torn down, if it doesn't fall down first, and a new one built.  There is a lot of stuff in there that should have been gotten rid of years ago.  We're so tired that we usually rest/nap in our chairs for the rest of the day.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

THANK YOU for the birthday wishes, so very kind of you!!

I am able to use my finger now, just being careful in case it splits open I went to yoga and it didn't but tried not to use that finger.

SANDRA hope your aids come quickly, I know you can cope with being alone though. I love the funnies, some I almost spit my coffee out at times, I've taken to NOT bringing my coffee here

DEVONNE she's so cute, I am glad for them that the housing is getting organised, that is a big house to be modular, we can them Pre-fab here. I wasn't aware they could be 2 levels.

JANET sometimes having just the two of you  is good, you can eat when you want AND what you want, and then go sew etc!!

STRINGS, ouch!!! my cut is no where near like that!! But it sliced quite close to the top, and only a thin slice I was able to hold it tight with a bandaid

CHERYL yum cranberry and orange sauce sounds good!! I might do some of that too, I will figure out if we really need it LOL You have everything almost done, I love that you have so many coming and bringing things - it will be fun, BUT you will be exhausted at the end!

HOLLY you are doing well with the sewing, the bowl cosies are such a good gift, and quick to make - I only use cotton batting, and we use in the microwave only. And of course cotton fabric and thread, with no sparkles, almost made that  mistake once !

INDY we are very lucky with our families aren't we, Your soup sounds good, if it's easy enough would you like to put it on the recipe thread. Hope you have a great time with Andrew, I miss John, don't see him as much, but that is to be expected, he'll be 20 in December, how did that happen!! You all remember when he was born, we were together then.

PATTY you must be having snow watch - we really need to get into the garage and clean it out. So much  could toss, but I'm not allowed to touch his stuff, and it's junk!

I went to yoga, then home and started the jam, just finished it, been taking calls as well, I left this post for well over an hour ago and it was still here I had to move cars, then the phone rang, then the jam was ready, and I've just finished bottling it.

I know they have gifts for me tonight I am pretty sure the glass storage I wanted are it!!! And they are expensive, so they all shared, Pete just got back with the cake, can I go peek??? Better not I guess, he will be able to tell if I break the tape closing the box.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

Happy Birthday Trish.
I used to like company but haven't really had any since we left NY.
Taking the turkey out of the freezer today.  Even for just the two of us I’m making a full turkey dinner….DH expects it.  And unlike a lot of folks, we like turkey.
There’s something going on with my machine….the stitches were wonky at times.  So far I have changed the needle, rethreaded too and bobbin.  If it still acts up today and will change the thread and bobbin thread.  I hate to bring it in.  I have two brand new machines, Pfaff and Bernina. Not to mention my smaller Pfaff and Janome.  It’s the principle of the thin, I have been using this Pfaff for at least 20 years with No issues!  Retreat is coming up in January and I don’t have the time, nor the ambition to become familiar with a new machine….especially these new ones are behemoths.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

MISPELLINGS.......
1.  GEOMETRY TEACHES US TO BISEX ANGELS.
2.  THEY GAVE WILLIAM IV A LOVELY FUNERAL.  IT TOOK SIX MEN TO CARRY THE BEER.
I AM GLAD THESE LITTLE OFFERINGS BRING A SMILE OR TWO TO MY DEAR FRIENDS.  I LOVE READING THEM MYSELF.  I AM A FIRM BELIEVER THAT LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE.

ITS DARK AND DREARY HERE TODAY BUT IN THE 40S AGAIN.
I AM DOGSITTING TODAY SO WILL TRY TO BE QUICK.
I MADE PIZZA LAST NITE.  MMMM IT WAS GOOD.  I HAVE ENOUGH LEFT FOR TODAY.
DEFROSTING A CHICKEN BREAST SO NEED TO THINK WHAT TO MAKE WITH THAT FOR TOMORROW.
I TOOK OUT THE TRASH AND RECYCLES AND FOUND THE RECYCLE BIN NOT THERE ANYMORE.  I HAVE NO IDEA OF THE STORY BEHIND THAT YET.  I JUST TOSSED MY RECYLES IN THE DUMPSTER WITH MY TRASH.  I CAN'T KEEP STORING IT IN MY APT.
I ACTUALLY PLACED ANOTHER ORDER WITH TARGET YESTERDAY FOR A FEW THINGS I THINK MY SON MAY BE HARD PRESSED TO FIND WHEN HE SHOPS.  THEY WILL ARRIVE THE 26TH SO PLENTY OF TIME BEFORE I HAVE TO START COOKING GOODIES.
I MAKE BELINKIS, THE LITHUANIAN VERSION OF LATKES WITH THE POTATOES GRATED ON THE SMALL SIDE SO THE MIXTURE IS MORE LIKE AUNT JEMIMA'S PANCAKE MIX.  I HAVE GRATED A FEW FINGERS IN MY DAY.  NOW WHEN THE TATER GETS SMALL, I JUST PUT IT ASIDE AND FRY IT ALONG WITH THE PANCAKES WHEN I MAKE THEM.  A NICE LITTLE POP OF FRIED TATER.  ITS NOT WASTED AND MY FINGERS STAY SAFE.
I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SEW TODAY AFTER ALL WITH OSCAR JOINING ME.  HE WANTS ATTENTION.  HIS DADDY HAS TO GO TAKE HIS CAR IN BECAUSE HIS GPS AND RADIO STOPPED WORKING.  PROBABLY JUST A FUSE NEEDS REPLACING.  I HOPE HE DOESN'T TAKE TOO LONG.  I HAVE PLANS TODAY.
TRISH......I HOPE YOU GOT SOME NICE THINGS FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY.  GLAD THE FINGER IS HEALING AND YOU ARE DOING WELL.
STAY SAFE EVERYONE.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

Janet, we also like turkey. The last time I made a breast, I froze the leftovers in freezer bags, one pound per bag. We had some when Manda was here, tasted so good!

Scam alert! Phone rang, caller ID said Virtua Hospital so I answered. Foreign sounding lady asked for me by name. Said she was calling from the Medicare provider to see if I got my new Medicare card. I asked why the caller ID said Virtua, if she was with Medicare. She said because they auto dial, first clue. She asked again if I got my new card, I asked why she wanted to know. She said everyone is required to have a new card. Asked again if I got one. I said I’m not going to answer and I’m not talking to you and hung up. I figure if I said I didn’t get one, she’d offer to check into it and ask for all kinds of info. If I’d said I got one, she’d tell me there was a mistake. So beware.

I saw something on Facebook about prosperity hens, little fabric bird shapes on like a garland. So I googled it and found a tutorial , and they look easy and a use for scraps.

Our garage is also a disaster of junk, all his. He keeps saying he’s going to clean it. Not holding my breath.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

I never answer the phone unless the name and number is from my contact list.  I check the voicemail.  Most times it’s a scam.  I have friends who answer event call because they’re afraid they’ll miss something important.  They have been scammed.
These crooks are very clever…

Re: ODT SUNDAY 23 NOVEMBER ~ SATURDAY 29 NOVEMBER

Trish, I don't think I wished you a happy birthday!

I gained today for the first time since 9/4. It's only a .3 gain, but I was disappointed. It was the pistachios, lol!

I'm going to be doing LVP flooring soon, maybe before the end of the year. I have picked out two colors I like, two different brands. I can order online from Flooret, but Home Depot now carries Flooret products. HD also has a Mohawk color I like, which is less than the Flooret brand. I need to visit HD, but not today. Today is my lazy day.

Sandra, I know you love Oscar and he's company for you, but it can be an inconvenience when you have plans. Hopefully, his car problem didn't take too long.

Trish, I have the sourdough starter ready to go, I'm just so unsure of myself about messing it up. Most of the videos say you need a scale. I have one; just need to learn how to read it.
