Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

Theresa, I saw one of those kitchen scarves on Pinterest the other day!  I thought, wow, that would be handy to have in the kitchen.

We got about 5 inches of snow overnight and all the schools around here closed.  It is now about 28 degrees so it is not terrible, but the roads were icy this morning.

I had some left over bananas that were getting too ripe for me to eat, so I made a loaf of banana bread this afternoon.  The house smells delightful for sure.

My SIL and nephew and his family  moved to Cape Coral Florida yesterday, just before the storm hit.  Well, my nephew is driving his car while the others flew down.  They have two cars stored here until he can fly back and drive them down.  He has a truck and a Kia here.  He will drive the truck and tow the Kia.  Hopefully the weather stays ok for the drive.  My SIL sent me a text with 80 degrees and sunny there.
I told her to knock it off!

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

I googled kitchen scarf, they are not cheap! I also just tuck a dish towel (tea towel, as my Irish grandmother called them) into my waistline.

Cheryl, you’ll have the last laugh the first time they have a hurricane.

Cut more fabric for pillowcases, I think I have enough for the moment.

It’s been rainy and dreary all day. Ralph went to Tim Horton’s this morning with his brother, I stayed in.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

FROM READER'S DIGEST.....LIFE IN THESE UNITED STATES.....
1.  I'M ALWAYS INSPIRED WHEN PEOPLE TURN 100 AND THEY'RE STILL SO VIGOROUS.  WHILE WALKING THROUGH OUR RETIREMENT COMMMUNITY, I CAME UPON A RECENT CENTENARIAN WHO LOOKED SO FULL OF LIFE THAT I HAD TO STOP AND ASK, "HOW DO YOU DO IT?
"YOU JUST PUT ONE FOOT IN FRONT OF THE OTHER." SHE SAID, SMILING.  THEN SHE ADDED, "OF COURSE, FIRST YOU HAVE TO WAKE UP."

WE GOT OUR SNOW.  ABOUT 3-4 INCHES OF THE LIGHTEST SNOW POSSIBLE THAT LASTED FOR HOURS.  NO POWER OUTAGES.  NOT HEAVY.  AND TODAY ITS COLD.  ONLY IN THE 30S ALL DAY BUT SUNNY.  LOOKS SO NICE OUT THERE WITH THE SNOW-COVERED GROUND.

HOLLY......YOU JUST AMAZE ME HOW MUCH YOU GET DONE IN THE SEWING DEPT.  YOU ARE ALWAYS BUSY, BUSY, BUSY.  I APPLAUD YOU.  I WISH I HAD YOUR ENERGY.  SEND A BIT OVER TO ME FOR A XMAS GIFT.  I WOULD APPRECIATE IT.

I SENT OUT SOME XMAS CARDS YESTERDAY.  IT WAS SO NICE TO SEE THEM ON THEIR WAY.
TODAY I HAVE TO ROAST MY TURKEY BREAST.  I WILL MAKE MY MASHED POTATOES, SOME STOVE TOP TURKEY STUFFING ON THE STOVE AND MAKE SOME BROWN GRAVY FROM A PACKAGE MIX.  THAT WILL BE MY CONTRIBUTION TO MY NEIGHBOR TONY, AND 2 OTHERS, ONE BEING THE LADY WHO BROUGHT ME THE TURKEY BREAST.  SHE LOVES TO BRING ME STUFF AND THEN HAVE ME COOK IT.  SHE GETS THOSE ROASTS FROM THE MGR OF OUR TOWN'S FOOD PANTRY.  THE MGR KNOWS THAT THE ROASTS WILL BRING MEALS TO A FEW MORE PEOPLE THAN JUST THE ONE.   I AM THRILLED, TOO, BECAUSE IT DOES NOT MEAN $$ OUT OF MY OWN POCKET.
ITS BINGO NITE SO I WILL ROAST THE TURKEY EARLY AND EVEN EARLIER I WILL MAKE A BATCH OF PEANUT BUTTER BALLS.  I CAN SHARE THOSE WITH TODAY'S MEALS AND ALSO WITH THE GALS AT BINGO TONITE.  IT MAKES A LOT SO THERE WILL BE PLENTY OF BALLS TO SHARE.

I KEEP GETTING THE CUTEST SAYINGS FROM MY NEIGHBORS WHICH WILL MAKE THE CUTEST SNOOPY DOOR HANGINGS.  I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THE ENERGY TO MAKE ONE FOR EACH OF THE LADIES WHO ADORE SNOOPY.  I WILL TRY TO DO THAT BUT WILL NOT TELL THEM TIL I HAVE ENOUGH TO GO AROUND.  CROSS YOUR FINGERS FOR ME LADIES.  I NEED MY SEWING MOJO BADLY.
TOMORROW I HAVE PLANS TO BRING OUT MY XMAS DECOR AND GET ME APT DECORATED FOR THE HOLIDAY.  I DIDN'T DO THAT AT ALL LAST YEAR.  JUST HUNG MY XMAS WALLHANGINGS.  I AM MORE INTO THE SEASON THIS YEAR.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.  HUGS FROM ME TO YOU, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

I just love reading everything that everyone posts!!  It is raining this morning, maybe it will warm up a bit later on!!  There is not a bit of movement in the bushes this morning.  Still a few birds outside moving around.

I don't have any plans for the day, so will turn on the TV and hope to find something interesting.  Well, will wish you all a good day, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

I had the EMG this morning. Took about 45 minutes. Showed some neuropathy. He ordered some labs, and I’ll see him in January. I was expecting pain, but it was more shock when you get a shock from static.

From there we went to First Watch and had brunch. Came home, did my computer stuff, and spent an hour in the sewing room. All the pillowcases need is the side and bottom seam on each.

Sandra, I try to spend an hour or so in the sewing room each day. Some days it turns into 2 hours, some days I never get in there.

Dinner tonight is the other half of the quiche, and a side of carrots and broccoli. Sandra, enjoy your turkey!

it’s sunny and 42, no snow for us yet. Ralph was puttering around outside.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

I have a crick in my neck; I'm sure from working on this puzzle, lol. I'll do some ice shortly. I'm getting caught up on Titanic videos on You Tube. It's rather spooky watching them. I wonder if they are still trying to recover artifacts. I saw pearl necklaces, bracelets, vases, etc.

I'm getting Emily silverware for the new house. I ordered a customized doormat for Hannah that says  _____ and ______ Families and Welcome Home. I'm finished with my shopping.

I have a big order coming from Amazon today. I shopped from a wishlist Greg gave me for him and Carter. That certainly was a huge help! My Midea air fryer is coming today. I hope it isn't too heavy for me to put on the countertop. It's supposed to be smaller.

Holly, I will have to suggest First Watch to Greg for lunch. There is one in his area. I love their breakfast, but they seldom eat breakfast.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

Holly, I agree with the hurricanes!  In 2022, Cape Coral was ravaged by Hurricane Ian.  Many homes flooded and/or wind damage.  There are many homes for sale.  They think it is a good time to buy since the homes are cheaper now then in 2020.  I wish them well.  He is my nephew who is 44, but has had a stroke and brain cancer.  He was a semi driver and he is not allowed to return to that job due to the stroke.  So, he is on disability right now.  I am not sure they will allow him to stay on it, but he seems to think so.  He said he came close to dying twice and now he will do what he wants and live.

I did a little cyber shopping yesterday.  Abby wanted a particular hoodie brand in a pink.  It will not be available until February.  We called her and asked if she would like something different, but she said no, she would wait for it.  It is a "Comfrt" hoodie and it is all the rage with young people I guess.  Amelia wanted one too in a maroon.  Hers will be here.  They are on sale right now, but they are usually pretty expensive.

I have not heard of First Watch.  I don't think they are in  my area.

Dean and I had salads with some chicken on top for supper.  He wanted to go work out and did not want a heavy meal.  We walked 2 miles this morning at the YMCA and my legs are stiff and sore.  I have not walked for a while now and I am feeling it.

Off to watch my recorded Young & Restless episode for today.  I have watched it since 1975.

Good Morning to everyone!!  It is raining here, such a challenge, walking between raindrops!!  I don't have any plans for the day, will watch TV and that's all I'll manage today!!Rhonda will likely be over at some point, not sure though, seems as if she's off somewhere!

Well, I don't have anything else to talk about, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

READER'S DIGEST....LIFE IN THESE UNITED STATES.......
1.  WHEN WRITING ANYTHING FOR PUBLIC CONSUMPTION, ITS A GOOD IDEA TO DOUBLE-CHECK YOUR WORK.  THE PEOPLE WHO COMPOSED THE FOLLOWING PROBABLY DIDN'T.
...SPOTTED ON A WRAPPER OF A PRE-MADE DELI SANDWICH:  "ROAST BEEF AND CRIMINALIZED ONION RELISH."
...FROM A TWEET..."DON'T Y'ALL HATE WHEN TEACHERS USE TO COFFIN SKATE YOUR PHONE."
...SIGN HELD BY DRIVER AT AIRPORT WAITING FOR DELEGATES ATTENDING A MUSCULOSKELETAL CONFERENCE: "WELCOME TO MOSQUITO SKELETON SOCIETY"
...TEXT:  "I JUST HIT MY HEAD REALLY HARD.  I THINK I MIGHT HAVE A CAUCSIAN."
...SIGN ON STORE DOOR: "CLOSED DUE TO PERSONAL CIRCUMCISIONS."

ITS SNOWING AGAIN.  I DON'T THINK WE WILL GET MUCH.  JUST A SHOWER OF SNOW. BUT IT SURE WAS COLD LAST NIGHT DROPPING TO 7 DEGREES.  BRRR.  TONITE IT WILL HIT 3 DEGREES.

HOLLY.....YOU DO WELL TO KEEP UP YOUR SEWING.  I TRIED DOING A BIT EACH DAY BUT IT DIDN'T WORK OUT.  I REALLY NEED TO MAKE A BETTER EFFORT.  I HAVE SO MANY IDEAS PERCOLATING.
I ROASTED THAT TURKEY BREAST AND SHARED WITH 3 OTHERS.  I ALSO MADE CREAMY MASHED POTATOES, STOVE TOP TURKEY STUFFING, AND PACKAGED BROWN GRAVY.  IT WAS GOOD ENOUGH ACCORDING TO MY RECIPIENTS.  TONY WAS PLEASED.  I EVEN BROUGHT HIM SOME PEANUT BUTTER BALLS.
AT BINGO I LOST $6.50.  THAT'S A BIG LOSS WITH $7 BEING THE MOST I COULD LOSE SINCE THAT'S ALL I BRING.  I HOPE TO WIN A BIT NEXT WEEK.  I BROUGHT P BUTTER BALLS FOR THE GIRLS AS WELL.  THEY ENJOYED THEM.
TODAY I DUG OUT MY XMAS DECOR FROM THE BACK OF THE CLOSET.  A COUPLE OF THINGS ARE UP, LIKE MY HANGING TOWELS ON THE STOVE HANDLE AND A TABLE-TOP SMALL TREE WITH FIBRE OPTIC LIGHTING.  ITS CUTE.  MORE TO DO BUT I HAD TO GO TO CRAFT MORNING.
TONY OF THE BROKEN HIP JOINED US.  HE TOLD HIS STORY.  HE ALSO SAID HE ENJOYED MY BRINGING HIM SOME MEALS.  ANOTHER OF OUR FAVORITE GALS TOOK HIM TO HIS DR APPT THIS WEEK.  HE CAN'T DRIVE RIGHT NOW.   HE IS A BIT HAMPERED IN THE COOKING DEPT TOO.  HE CAN'T STAY ON HIS FEET VERY LONG.  WE TOLD HIM ABOUT THE 2 PARTIES NEXT WEEK AND HE'S COMING SO I ADDED HIS NAME TO THE LIST.  WE TOLD HIM HE ONLY HAD TO BRING HIMSELF TO TAPAS NIGHT.  AND HIS DRINK OF CHOICE.

GOLLY GEE, WHAT A JERK I CAN BE.  I WAS SUPPOSEDLY DEFROSTING MY GROUND BEEF FOR BUNDIES TOMORROW AND INSTEAD I PUT THEM ON TO COOK.  YIKES.  I WILL BROWN THIS MEAT AND I HAVE PUT ANOTHER PACKAGE ON TO DEFROST.  AND I DOUBLE-CHECKED.  ITS ON DEFROST.

THAT'S IT LADIES.  ALL THE LATEST.  STAY SAFE AND WARM.  HUGS FOR YOU ALL, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

Busy day! Did my exercises, breakfast by the computer, then off to the sewing room! Finished 17 pillowcases! I only had to do the side and bottom seams. Tomorrow back to bowl cozies, so I can get them mailed out to my daughters and niece.

41 and cloudy out, sounds windy. Ralph had breakfast with the Veterans, now he’s napping.

Dinner will be chicken Marsala from the Italian store, some kind of potatoes, and maybe broccoli.

Sandra, better luck next week at bingo!

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

We got home from a trip to Ollie's this afternoon.  It's in Laporte about 15 miles from here. We bought way too much but all things we could use and  I got one of the grab bag gifts we need--a heated throw.  Probably wouldn't have picked one of those except a lady  I follow on U-Tube recommended that as a good gift.  I was about to put back the rather boring one I had in my cart when I noticed another one in a really pretty  and unusual plaid that I couldn't pass up.
For our small family, this year, we are getting gifts that work for either sex  instead of "drawing" names which ML has been  stuck with doing for all of us and she's tired of doing that task.  I plan to get an alarm clock that displays the time on the ceiling  for the other gift, plus some snack or goodie to add to each.   Everyone was okay with doing this except Danny but it was he who several years ago was the mouthpiece for Pam who didn't wan't to buy for everyone any more, so we went to the so-called name drawing...

I watched a guy on U-Tube who encouraged the buying of  gifts that someone would actually use as so much time and  money is wasted on useless or unwanted gifts that either just get tossed aside or thrown away.   So, while my choices aren't fantastic, they should be somewhat useful for anybody.  When we were still drawing names, one year, the gift I got was from my grandson's girlfriend:  two skeins of two totally different yarns and a crochet hook. We had a suggested amount of $35 since we only had one gift to buy.  The poor girl.  I almost couldn't stop myself from laughing out loud.  Don't get me wrong.  I didn't care about the gift or the money, it was just so pathetic.

We got Arby's for lunch, came home and snacked on cashews and Cheetos and when I asked Howard if he wants his usual supper, he said Yes.  Really?  Guess what he's getting?  A frozen entree, his choice to pick from the freezer!   Tomorrow and Saturday, I'll do my duty, but not tonight after tramping around Ollie's and then all that snacking.

Later,
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

I fixed salmon patties in my new air fryer and had french cut green beans. I love that it's compact but will hold more roasted veggies than my Ninja one.

My Medicare supplemental plan with Aetna is going up from $134 to $155. I don't like it, but I don't like that my family doctor, who is 2 miles from my house, isn't on Medicare Advantage Plan.

Have any of you bought PB2 powdered peanut butter? I saw it on You Tube and it seems to be a lot healthier than regular peanut butter. It may be used just for cooking, but I did read you can mix it with water & make a pb sandwich.

Devonne- PB2 is yucky…but then again I’m not a OB fan. DH eats a lot of PB and almond butter but only the all natural with no added anything…no salt, no oil, no sugar.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

SANDRA Love the circumcision one they are all funny! Sorry about the loss, it happens, better luck next time, I am glad your turkey was successful. I haven't sewn much either, been trying to get the hand sewing done, but I seem to run out of time with that even, and my hands get sore.

DEVONNE I had not heard of the peanut butter like that, I like the natural one, just ground peanuts. We have a couple brands, one is good the other seems like they roast the peanuts too much.

JANET I love my peanut butter  on celery or apple slices, or just rice cakes, we get the thin corn ones.

BJ I hope you have a good day, I'm sure you will find something to do, the family will be around before long (((hugs)))

INDY I agree, giving gifts just for the sake of it is pointless, that is why Megan and I usually do the shopping, the boys get gifts, but just one for each of us - and it's something we want or can use. I hope H enjoyed his freezer meal, Dean is having one tonight he's on his own, he has exams next week still and they are away for Ella's 21st birthday, she wanted camping with everyone, Dean missed out, he's not too unhappy about it, he has the dogs, A/C and I got him some pies and single serve meals, he didn't want to come to the club.

It's been scorching hot here today, and will be again tomorrow, I have no idea how I will survive training though they will make it lighter  for us. It's now after 8.30pm and still around 90, was over 100 today, same tomorrow, yesterday was slightly cooler at just under 100 LOL

We had our Christmas lunch for Friday Girls, just at the local tavern it was cool enough inside, but WOW when we left, the car was awful, took the whole drive to get Dean to get it cool.

I am totally stuffed, dinner as well as lunch

HOLLY you are doing so much sewing!! Well done, I need to get motivated, I have my blocks to do, but I need to make something tomorrow for my Sunday group sewing lunch, we just all bring something for that.

CHERYL  wow!! Is young and restless still on, I used to watch it years ago, AND Days of our lives LOL I bet I could pick up the story line! My favourite was Marlene in Days, chicken and salad sounds good, and it might be our meal tomorrow, too hot for anything much!

I have started sorting the panty, got quite a few containers switched already, just need to  sort out the "packing" of them into the pantry. Surprisingly I have used most of the new 16 containers, I have 3 left, and plans for them, I thought I had too many, surprised how many I needed. They even supplied some labels and a pen, the labels are black and the open seems to write like chalk, but it doesn't rub off, I have my own labels anyway, but thought I'd try these.

Time for me to shut this thing down, the a/c will be on most of the night, and then again tomorrow all day and into the night. I really dislike this heat

2.  I HAD NEWS I WAS ANXIOUS TO SHARE WITH MY HUSBAND AND COULDN'T WAIT FOR HIM TO COME HOME FROM WORK.
FINALLY I HEARD THE KEY IN THE DOOR, AND IN HE WALKED.  I POUNCED."
"DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT I DID TODAY?" I PRACTICALLY SHOUTED.
MY LOVING HUSBAND, KNOWING ME QUITE WELL, ANSWERED, "NOT IN DETAIL."

BRRRR IT WAS SO COLD LAST NITE.  WHEN I WOKE FOR MOTHER NATURE AT 6 A.M. IT WAS ONLY 1 DEGREE BELOW ZERO.  THATS 33 DEGREES BELOW FREEZING. BRRRR.

YIPPEE FOR ME, I GOT ALL MY DECORATONS UP AND RUNNING.  NOT THAT I HAVE AN AWFUL LOT.  BUT I LOVE LIGHTS AND I GOT MY 2 LIGHT WREATHS WITH THEIR HUNDREDS OF LIGHTS IN A CIRCLE, AND MY 2 TABLETOP FIBRE OPTIC XMAS TREES UP ALONG WITH THIS AND THAT.  XMAS TOWELS ARE OUT AND XMAS OVEN DOOR HANGERS, TOO.  OH, AND A RUG IN THE BATHROOM.  JUST ENOUGH TO KNOW ITS XMAS IN MY HOUSE.  LAST YEAR I NEVER GOT ANY OF THOSE THINGS UP BUT FEEL HEALTHIER THIS YEAR THAN LAST.  ALL DUE, I AM SURE, TO THE CHANGE IN HEART MEDS I AM TAKING.  I HAVE MORE ENERGY AND MANY MORE GOOD DAYS THAN I EVEN HAD IN THE LAST FEW YEARS.
TODAY IS COOKING DAY FOR ME.  I HAVE BUNDIES TO MAKE TODAY SO MY SON CAN TAKE HOME HIS SHARE AND MY GRANDSON'S SHARE.  I WILL MAKE THE TATER TOT SAUSAGE CASSEROLE TOMORROW MORNING SO MY SON CAN EAT SOME FOR LUNCH AND TAKE HOME SOME FOR HIM AND MY GRANDSON AS WELL.  NO SWEETS ON THE MENU TODAY.
AS FOR DAILY CHORES, THEY ARE THE USUAL.  MAYBE A SWIFFER WET JET FOR THE FLOORS TODAY AND A VACUUMING.
ITS SUNNY AND BRIGHT AND WARMING UP A BIT. ITS 16* AND SHOULD HIT THE 20S TODAY.  LOVE THE SUNSHINE.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

Janet, thanks for the info on PB2. I had already ordered it, but it's a small jar. So glad I didn't get the 32 oz. jar!

I was ready to hit the button to order the customized door mat for Hannah, but decided to check it out one last time. I'm so glad I did because it was made out of rubber! It would be destroyed by their dogs the first day, lol! Now I'm back to shopping!

Still have the crick in my neck. I moved the puzzle table to my sewing room until this goes away. I hate taking any medication, but the Tylenol helps me get things done around here!

I just took two Tylenol so hope to get some decluttering done and the kitchen cleaned.

BJ, it is raining here too....today and tomorrow!

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

Rain?  What's rain?    We're still under a blanket of snow and it's very cold but sunny.  Howard is coming home from town.  He had a return to Kohl's and an Rx to pick up and he's getting  a few more groceries.  He's called me once for clarification on the cottage cheese I wanted.  He would never touch it.

We ordered from Amazon the clock that displays the time on the ceiling this morning (for one of our Christmas grab bags) and one of the endless men-things for the car so we can survive the winter--something about the battery??  We don't have Az. Prime so that was to make it so we didn't[ have to pay for shipping.  It didn't even out...  because the man-thing cost $35 itself!  I was going to pick up a few kitchen towels ...

QB, that's H. and me, the funny about the husband who said "not in detail".  You take your time to type those out for us here each day and we reap the benefit.  Thank you for that.  If it ever becomes a bit too much, we'll all understand and remember the laughs we've had.

Trish, hard to imagine 100 degree temps.  Many of us here in the States truly live in two completely different climates.  You are such a trouper, doing all the things you do each and every week, and now, in that heat.

Theresa, thanks for the window into your world.  Nice to 'meet' Simba.  As with Bandit, he keeps you hopping.  BTW, some postal worker wrote in pencil on the envelope, "614 ?".  I guess out here in the sticks, they know some of our addresses and can spot an error.  So, if you could check your address book???  You had written "619"   So glad they delivered it.

Unlike Howard's shoes that were to come yesterday, finally.  We saw the mail car pull up and
they dithered around for a bit, backed up and then drove off.  So he went to the P.O. this morning and they were being held there.   That after being in Gary (20 miles away) on Nov. 30, and then being shipped to West Virginia, and who knows where after that.  So, he was very irked and fed up with it all.  He was told if the access (driveway) isn't completely bare, they won't come down it and had some examples of getting stuck and having to wait too long for a tow.  Their computers were blamed for wrong shipping locations.  I thought computers were supposed to  be fool-proof and why they control everything!   HAH!  Anyway, the shoes fit and he's keeping them!

Going to do some cleaning and decorating and figure out the pork chops for supper.
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY 30 NOV ~ SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER

I got nothing done today. I woke up nauseous and the room kept spinning. Had some tea and went back to bed, got up at one, room still spinning. I had some antivert from when this happened 3 years ago, so I took that and went back to sleep til 4! When I woke up the room was finally staying still, yay! I had taken Claritin the first time I got up, so between them, it’s resolved. My brother called, he said it can’t be allergies, I must have a cold or the flu, both of which I had the shots for. He heard it on the news, LOL.

Wow, Trish, that’s hot!

We all do Amazon wish lists, which is so helpful. I give money to all, and a bonus from their wishlist. My little great nephews Joey and Ben, get cash. Ben’s mom always texts me that his future college thanks me.
