Re: ODT SUNDAY OCTOBER 19 ~ SAT OCTOBER 25

SIGNS OF THE TIMES......
1.  ON A ROLLER COASTER:  WATCH YOUR HEAD.
2.  ON A NEW HAMPSHIRE ROAD:
             Will build to suit
              Emory A. Tuttle

ITS RAINING AND I LOVE IT.
I HAD A NICE VISIT WITH DAU AND GDAU.  WE CHATTED AND NIBBLED AND PASSED THE TIME.  SHE WENT HOME WITH 5 GROCERY BAGS OF STUFF FROM SWEATERS, SCARFS, FOOD, BAKING DISHES, GADGETS AND THE FARMER'S CHEESE.  LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT.
TONITE IS BINGO NITE SO HOPING TO WIN A BIT BUT IF NOT, I KNOW I WILL ENJOY THE COMPANY.
DID MY LAPS AND CLEARED OFF THE PUZZLE TABLE TO MAKE ROOM FOR EATING AT OUR POTLUCK.  PLANS ARE IN TRAIN.  I WILL PRESS THE FQs TO COVER MY IRONING BOARD WHERE WE CAN PLACE SOME DESSERTS PROBABLY.  JUST TO MAKE MORE ROOM.  SO FAR WE HAVE 14 SIGNED UP FOR THE DINNER.  WE HOPE A COUPLE MORE WILL WANDER IN.
I MAY DO SOME SEWING TODAY.  I REALLY WANT TO GET CASPER FINISHED IN THE NEXT DAY OR TWO.  AND THEN THERE ARE THE OTHER PROJECTS I HAVE TO FINISH.  I HAVE THEM ALL LINED UP ON FLANNEL-COVERED BOARDS IN FRONT OF MY LONG DRESSER SO I CAN KEEP THEM IN MY MIND AND GET THEM DONE SOON. I HAVE PUT THE SLEDDING RABBIT AND MOUSE FRIENDS ASIDE FOR THE MOMENT.
I DEFROSTED CHICKEN BREAST, GOUND BEEF AND A PIZZA DOUGH.  NOT SURE WHAT I WILL MAKE OR WHEN BUT THERE'S ALWAYS SOMETHING AROUND TO EAT.

MARYLOU.....WHAT A GOOD IDEA SENDING THEM OFF WITH THINGS TO EAT AND DO.  YOU'RE A VERY THOUGHTFUL PERSON.

WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY OCTOBER 19 ~ SAT OCTOBER 25

Good Morning to everyone!!  The sky is lots of blue w/some white.  It is a quiet day, not a bit of movement.  I have no plans for the day, just will lay around.  I hope you all have a wonderful day planned.  Sending good wishes to you all, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY OCTOBER 19 ~ SAT OCTOBER 25

Mary Lou that’s how I feel, that I’d slow everyone down.

We went and got haircuts, the library, dropped off our ballots, and paid the water bill. Came home and had lunch. It’s chilly and windy, low 60’s.

I think my next project will be the microwave safe bowl covers. I have the templates. I have to watch the video. Decisions, decisions.

Re: ODT SUNDAY OCTOBER 19 ~ SAT OCTOBER 25

October is flying by like September did. My hydrangeas are showing off, I still have roses and my azaleas are blooming for the last time this year. My lawn maintenance has made a huge improvement to my front yard. They are coming today to spray post and pre emergent treatments. They saved my new sod, so well worth the money!

I'm fixing one of my favorite things for lunch. Put your flat bread in the oven and get it crispy. Grill zucchini and squash (tomatoes and onions if you like). Today I'm adding grilled cherry tomatoes. Add a layer of ricotta cheese, then the veggies, salt and pepper. No flat bread nor ricotta cheese, so today I'm using a tortilla and sour cream. You can use cottage cheese if you like. Any substitute goes. It won't be easy to hold because of the tortilla so I won't overload it. I cut it into 4 pcs.

Carter is going to be in high school next year. Greg and I just can't believe it. All the "cuddling" is over and he is becoming more independent. He's 14 and I still think of him as 7 years old, lol. He's a big guy for his age, wears a size 13 shoe. Doesn't want to get his hair cut...yes, it's the trend, lol. We don't like it, but Greg lets him be him!

I got all my bed linen washed yesterday. I only do it once a month because it's 3 loads. I'm not washing this heavy topper no more than I need to, lol.

I have two bins of Halloween and Fall decorations. I only have a fall wreath on the door now and some fall flowers in a planter.

I'm going to change my Medicare Part D today from Aetna to Humana. Humana is much less....at least starting out, lol.

MALAPROPS.......
1.  MARRIAGE WAS ORDAINED FOR THE PROCURATION OF CHILDREN.
2.  HE'S A CHILD PROGENY.
AND SNOOPY SAYS....
MY MIND STILL THINKS I'M STILL IN MY TWENTIES....
MY BODY THINKS I'VE LOST MY MIND.

A GORGEOUS FALL DAY HERE.  SUN IS SHINING.

WENT TO CRAFTS BUT DID NOTHING.  LISTENED TO THE TALK AND ENJOYED JUST SITTING AND LISTENING.  I SAW PEGGY THERE AND SHE'S LOOKING GOOD.  I ASKED HER IF SHE WANTED PIZZA TONITE, AND SHE WAS WILLING TO BE A GUINEA PIG.
MY A/C UNIT IS OUT AND PLACED IN STORAGE.  I HAVE MY LITTLE GARGOYLE, "GAMMA RAMA," AND MY RAPTOR "BLUE" AND MY LITHUANIAN CARVED AMBER HORSE, I NAMED AMBER, ON THE WINDOWSILL NOW.  AMBER IS THE GEMSTONE OF LITHUANIA AND OF COURSE, THE GARGOYLE IS LITHUANIAN AS WELL, AS A PROTECTOR OF MY HOME.
NOT MUCH FOR PLANS TODAY.  MAYBE SOME SEWING.  I DID MY LAPS THIS MORNING.  I ALSO SKETCHED A COUPLE THINGS WHILE WAITING FOR TIM TO REMOVE THE UNIT.  A SMURF AND ANOTHER SNOOPY, THIS ONE ICE SKATING.  I DON'T KNOW WHAT WILL COME OF THEM, BUT I LIKE SKETCHING.
I HAD TO CUT BACK A LITTLE SO ONLY HAD FRUIT FOR LUNCH.  I HAVE CHICKEN BREAST IN THE TOASTER OVEN BAKING FOR EATING SOMETIME IN THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS.  THE PIZZA WILL BE SUPPER TONITE.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.  STAY SAFE.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY OCTOBER 19 ~ SAT OCTOBER 25

Devonne, I have Aetna also and am thinking about changing.  I was thinking Anthem.  My friend had Humana and said he hated it because if the restrictions on hospitals, I think.  He has specific needs because he is a a quadriplegic and in a wheelchair all the time.  I like Aetna but their dental policy will change next year and I will have to pay 50-70% of my dental procedures.  Cleanings are still free and some x-rays.  But I am not happy about the other changes.  So, still looking and comparing.

I made a pot of chicken noodle soup and a loaf of homemade bread for supper.  Amelia has been asking for the soup, so today is a good day for it.  Dean and I already at a few slices of that bread.    I am thinking of making a loaf of banana bread since I have quite a few over- ripe bananas in the freezer.

Sandra, your pizza sounds good...I love pizza and it is a downfall for me.

I still have not taken my Janome to be repaired and I am missing sewing, so I hope to get it to the shop tomorrow.  It has been windy, rainy and cool and that is my sewing time when I can't get outdoors.

Halloween trick or treating is on Sunday here.  We always hand out candy, but it seems less people do it each year.  This year chocolate is expensive, so I expect less people to do it then ever.

Re: ODT SUNDAY OCTOBER 19 ~ SAT OCTOBER 25

Afternoon y'all!

We are all fine here!  MIL scared us on two Sunday's ago!  We got a call at 7 am and were ready to go in record time!  She is OK was just scared.  Her good leg was giving her fits.  I said it's because she was using it differently than she had prior to her knee replacement.  She went to the doc, who told her the same thing!  I missed my calling!  LOL! She is doing great!  We do think her time to live alone is coming to a close, but as long as things are going well, let her have it!  I think she misses people!  She was active in her church, taught Sunday school for adults.  She needs to go back to doing that, but she is not my mom!

We had a scare with Simba on Saturday evening.  Todd and Alex went to the UGA game, so it was just me and Sara.  Sara had come to get her mail and some stuff I got her.  We were doing the post supper walk and he was spooked by the nail guns in the carriage homes.  Mind you it is pitch dark, roofs were getting replaced, 8pm and they were still working!  Simba started dragging me, I got him to stop and talked soft and soothing to him, but somehow the leash became disconnected from the collar, it's one you have to manually unlock it to get it off, and he bolted.  Sara ran after him, I don't run, I pulled up the find my app, Simba has an air tag on his collar.  By the time I got it up and refreshed it several times, because it kept telling me he was home, Sara called me to say he was home.  The app was right!  He knows where home is and ran the road all the way home!

Luke is working this week, it will be week to week, with the Friends of Vicksburg NMP footing his pay!  They do have limited funds!  We will see what each week brings!

Sara is doing great!  She's going to a wedding this weekend and needed a dress so we went shopping for that on Saturday.  I too got one for a November Wedding.

Alex is coming over tonight.  He doesn't have an ironing board.  I have offered to get him one in the past, I guess mom is clueless!  He has an interview for a job with Macy's.  He needs to iron a couple things!  Hubby said he is going to make him iron, with supervision from hubby! That should be interesting!

I'm still doing my walks in the morning.  Working on my OBW, and snails trail quilts.  All decorated for Halloween!  ( I know y'all are surprised)  Already planning my holiday baking.  Having difficulty finding my mini pie shells.  Walmart didn't have them, nor did they have a slot marked for them.  I will try Ingles!  We found them at the Ingles in Franklin, NC, near a quilt shop, if I have to I will drive there, bummer! LOL!

I did go to the Probate office this week.  Got the notarized forms back from NSDB, and my niece, paperwork filled out, and I did it right on just round 2.  It went to the main probate court, yesterday and should take 90-120 days!

Nothing else exciting!

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY OCTOBER 19 ~ SAT OCTOBER 25

I have Aetna and it is wonderful!  That is probably because I am part of a very large group - retired teachers of Illinois and I think other retired state employees. I had copays on prescriptions but hit what they call catastrophic stage several months ago so now pay nothing for them. The dental isn’t very good but fortunately I seldom need any work done. The vision isn’t fantastic but is as good as any I ever had. I hit the max out of pocket for medical early in the year so now only pay a copay on doctor visits but nothing for tests or other hospital costs. It even pays for my gym membership through the Silver Sneakers program.

As I think about, I remember that my dental and vision are not Aetna.

Re: ODT SUNDAY OCTOBER 19 ~ SAT OCTOBER 25

Let it snow, let it snow!!!!  Yup, we had snow flurries this morning.  It was pretty close to rain but I could see the white flakes.

I've been busy with two quilt retreats in two months and another next month.  We took a trip east to visit son and family.  The twins are seven weeks old now.  They were so tiny.

Leaves have all turned, fallen and mulched .  I guess I'm ready for snow whenever it comes and stays.

Enjoy reading what you've been up to.

Re: ODT SUNDAY OCTOBER 19 ~ SAT OCTOBER 25

Sandra, you have a lovely view! And you have artistic talent!

I had an eye doctor appointment at 1. My eyes are just now starting to constrict down. We went from the eye doctor across to Olive Garden. I had chicken gnocchi soup and salad, so good.

I’m reading the new Donna Andrews, For Duck’s Sake, from the library. Really good so far, as are all of hers. Nice and light, I love the chaos of Meg’s home and family.

Whoa, Patty, snow! I’ve seen pix from Colorado where they’ve also had snow.

Re: ODT SUNDAY OCTOBER 19 ~ SAT OCTOBER 25

Holly- our eye dr offers drops that constrict the pupil back after dilation so you can drive home, etc.  I think they charge $10.
33* this morning.  Frost on grass and car windows.  😵‍💫. Too soon for that nonsense.  My gardenias are still flowering. lol.  One in particular only had a hiatus of about 2 weeks when it started up again.  I was told that they were planted in the wrong “zone” and would survive at all.  That was about 8 years ago and only lost one of the 6.
DH is doing the grocery shopping.  He has been doing it for months now.  Before this he barely knew where the store was.  My grocery bills have never been so high!  But I’m not complaining.  Let him shop.
     Back later.

Re: ODT SUNDAY OCTOBER 19 ~ SAT OCTOBER 25

MIXED METAPHORS......
1.  THAT'S A VERY HARD BLOW TO SWALLOW.
2.  THESE HEMORRHOIDS ARE A REAL PAIN IN THE NECK.

SUNNY AND BRITE TODAY.  ONLY HITTING THE 50S WITH 30S TONITE AND I HAVE MY WINDOWS OPEN FOR THE COOLING BREEZE OFF THE RIVER.

HOLLY.......I ENJOY THE DONNA ANDREWS BOOKS AS WELL.  I HAVE READ OVER A DOZEN OF THEM SO FAR.  LIGHT MYSTERIES WHICH IS MY FAVORITE GENRE.

I WAS SO FULL LAST NITE, I COULD BARELY MOVE FROM MY CHAIR.  I WON'T BE STEPPING ON MY SCALE FOR AT LEAST A FEW DAYS NOW.  WE HAVE TO SCALE DOWN OUR POTLUCKS.  OF THE 24 RESIDENTS, ONLY 12 CAME.  2 BEGGED OFF AT THE LAST MOMENT.  WE HAD 5 MAIN DISHES PLUS MAC N CHEESE AND RICE PLUS 2 SALADS, A FRUIT PLATTER, AND DESSERTS FROM MINI ECLAIRS TO A PUDDING TO GINGERBREAD, PUMPKIN PIE, AND COOKIES.
I STUCK TO THE MAIN DISHES, MAC N CHEESE PLUS SOME RICE.  I NEVER TRIED ANY DESSERTS.  NO ROOM FOR IT.  AND OF COURSE, WE HAD LOTS OF LEFTOVERS.  11 LADIES AND 1 MAN CANNOT EAT ALL THAT FOOD.
I AM SURE THE POTLUCK LADIES WILL WANT TO RETHINK OUR XMAS POTLUCK.  MAYBE WE SHOULD STICK TO 2 MAIN DISHES PLUS SIDES AND DESSERTS LIKE WHEN I ROASTED THAT PORK BUTT.  I ENJOYED ALL THE FOOD BUT IT WAS WAY TOO MUCH.  I TRIED ALL THE MAIN DISHES.  VERY GOOD.  THEY ALL GET AN A-PLUS FROM ME.
ANYWAY, THE COMMON ROOM IS BACK IN ORDER.  I WILL TAKE OUT THE BAG OF TRASH WHEN I TAKE OUT MINE IN A FEW MINUTES.  I EVEN GOT A NEW JIGSAW PUZZLE STARTED, THE 'WINTER GNOMES.'  THERE ARE NO MORE FALL PUZZLES WITH 300 PCS LEFT.  MANY 500, 750, AND 1000-PC PUZZLES BUT I STAY AWAY FROM THOSE.
I EXPECT WE WILL ALL BE EATING LEFTOVERS FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS.  I KNOW I WILL BUT THEN I DON'T MIND THE COUNTRY BEEF NOODLE SINCE IT SEEMS TO TASTE BETTER THE NEXT DAYS.
I TRIMMED 'CASPER' SO I CAN ADD THE BINDING.  I HOPE TO GET THAT DONE TODAY.
SORTED MY PILLS FOR THE WEEK AND DRY-SWIFFERED MY FLOORS ONLY.  I MAY VAC THE RUGS LATER BUT AM NOT SURE.  I WILL PLAY IT BY EAR.  DID MY LAPS THIS MORNING SO I AM BACK TO NORMAL.
I NAMED MY FITTONIA PLANT FELECIA.  SHE'S DOING FINE SO FAR.  CROSSING MY FINGERS.

WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY OCTOBER 19 ~ SAT OCTOBER 25

Janet, I will ask about those drops next time- thanks! That’s good that he’s food shopping, one less chore for you! Does he menu plan also?

Sandra, sounds like the pot luck was a winner! It’s hard to figure out how much food to make, but the leftovers are a bonus!

Our favorite drive up burger place closes for the winter after tomorrow, so we went there for lunch. Terrific smashburgers!

I made the first bowl cozy, with 10 inch squares, and it’s not real big, so I’ll try the next size up. I put a pic up of the one I made on our family chat, and Jul already claimed it!

The high today is 60! And there was a frost warning last night. It’s nice and sunny today.

I’m going to sit and read for a while.

Re: ODT SUNDAY OCTOBER 19 ~ SAT OCTOBER 25

Sandra, you are indeed very artistic as Holly said.  I don't think I can even trace anything that well.

Patty, keep that snow please!!  I do not want it to come, but, alas it will.  We had frost on the ground this morning.  Dean got a lot of the leaves up this afternoon.  We have lots because we are surrounded by trees.

Janet, I have never heard of that kind of reversal drops.  I will have to ask my eye doc because my eyes stay dilated for hours after I get the drops.

I got the rest of my "fall decorations" out today.  Just a table cover, a witch wreath for the front door and an old fashioned milk tin with some artificial fall flowers.  Looks ok to me.

I got all of the ingredients today to make a pot of tortilla soup tomorrow.  Aaron will be bringing Amelia and 2 of her friend to trick or treat in my neighborhood and tortilla soup is about the only soup he will eat.  We all like it, so that will be an easy supper after the 3-5 p.m. trick or treating.  I bought some Fritos to go with it, but may throw together a small batch of corn bread too.

Theresa, so happy your doggie made his way back home.  Those air tags are great.

My dad died in 2018.  He has not been a part of my life for 55 years.  His will specifically excluded my deceased brother's heirs, my other brother (who is now deceased) and myself from anything in his will.  I do have two half sisters who have nothing to do with us.  Their mom (my stepmom) made it impossible to visit or get close and my dad let it go, so after my grandmother died, I told him he would have to come to my house to visit.  Well, that never happened.  My boys did not know their grandfather.  So, now an attorney has been sending me letters wanting me to sign a form so some land with a mobile home on it can be sold.  Somehow, additional assets were found that were not listed in the will, so now they want me to sign off.  I was not even listed in the death notice for him, why should I sign anything?  Am I being an ##$%SS for not signing?  I was told in a phone message that Medicaid/Medicare has a lien on the property and it needs to be sold to satisfy that lien.  Opinions, please and thanks.
