Devonne, congrats on the weight loss. It is a very difficult thing to do for sure. Yes, I have made chaffles. There is also a recipe around for chocolate ones too. Do you use them as "bread"?
As for sushi, all four of my grandkids love it. Dean and I do not. lol. I think next to crab, it is Amelia's favorite.
Judy, have fun at Texas Roadhouse! It is probably my favorite restaurant too. Always good service and good food. Just a long wait to be seated most of the time.
The days have been just beautiful with 72 degrees and sun, but we sure could use rain. We are in a drought here. The deer have now started to eat my hydrangea. The one on the side of my house is down to the stalks. They have eaten most of my geraniums. I think I have a zoo in my yard since the ground hogs have eaten my hostas.
Happy birthday to Carter!!!

CHERYL you can have some of our rain, we've had so much - the most rain for many years - enough already LOL
DEVONNE well done on the weightloss, I agree probably a lot of water at he beginning, but it's a good start, that looks interesting, are the eggs well done or do they stay moist with the cheese? I hadn't heard the 'chaffles' term, we do have 'jaffles' totally different thing LOL HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Carter.
Hope he had a great day!
SANDRA hope the Bingo goes well, I am sorting my things for sewing tomorrow, I got the hand sewing out too, might be nice to sit and sew for a change, I have the quit tops I made as well, need to finish them, maybe I can send them home with Julie to quilt!
BJ so sorry about the pain, maybe a heat or cold pack might help, ask one of the girls when you talk to them. Maybe even a frozen peas packet wrapped in a towel, but not left on too long.
INDY the dinner sounds lovely, so nice to get a steak cooked well, I rarely order one here, I like it quite pink and not many places get it right, best to order something else. LOL Have a lovely night.
I love sushi, I could eat it every day, there are quite a few places near us, one only a couple mins away, but they aren't as good, I usually take the boys to lunch over their long holidays to Sushi Train, where the plates of food run on tracks around you, we usually end up with over 14 plates, only small things on each plate. I think the boys go easy on me and don't get as much to save me money.
I got notification that our new bed will be delivered on Sept 23. A bit of a way off, but gives me time to clean out things in there. I want to give it a thorough clean, walls and floors, as well as get rid of some things, and maybe buy some new linen, I thought about a mattress topper, Megan loves hers, but it does make the mattress soft and I hate that, I like really firm, the Mr would prob like softer, so I'll see how we go with it first.
Our baby Fletch is now 1 month old, he's still quite tiny, but so was Bridie, (she is quite solid now, but was very small for a long time) I'll see them all again next Friday, Dean has his exams next week, and I am on call to pick him up, so hopefully timing will be in my favour, poor kid, he's been sick this week, but studying at home - coughing etc, I think it could be spring time stuff, but they think a virus, I'm sure he got sick like this last spring. he has allergies like me.
We were lucky to be able to train today, the rain stopped long enough, it was really heavy overnight our front gardens flooded, and there was so much water laying around at the park!
I want to finish packing up my things for tomorrow, I did want to make some cookies, but maybe next time!

Here I am yet again apologizing for my absence, but it would likely be more of a surprise if I were here and commenting regularly at this point.
I pray you are all well!
Our deck is done, for the most part, with just a few finishing touches to be done. The contractor finished their part long ago, of course, and we couldn't be happier. Hubby has had to take the last couple of weekends off from working on the deck for other things, but we will get the final touches done very soon. (Hubby has had 4-day weekends all summer)🎊
Last weekend, we went and visited a friend on his birthday. We always meet around his birthday and mine, and then again around hubby's birthday, but he had another tumor, poor man, so we went to his house. He's in good spirits, the surgeon feels he removed all the cancer, and we continue to pray that is the case.
We also saw Mom on Sunday. She is 93 and slowing down now, and my sister still lives with her. Mom has never liked to be alone, and it now makes her feel anxious. One of us is with her to give my sister time to shower, run errands, etc. We always take food when we visit, and I always bring jigsaw puzzles to help keep Mom busy. She also enjoys reading her Bible, and she and I maintain our long phone conversations each day, even on the days we visit. 😄❤️
The bad vertigo I've experienced is mostly gone, although I had an episode on Sunday at Mom's just as I approached the hall bath. Luckily, Mom didn't see as I quickly (and fortunately) grabbed the doorframe. I held on and leaned there until it subsided. Hubby was annoyed with himself that he didn't see, but i was fine.
Anyway, speaking of the vertigo, they think it was the crystals in my ears, along with issues with my neck. I finally see an ENT this morning so I better get ready.
Sending up prayers for all! ❤️🤗🙏🏻

Good Morning to everyone!!! It is so cloudy this morning, very slight breeze up high, but quiet down low. I have no plans for the day, will likely just watch TV. So will sign off, wishing you all a wonderful day, BJ.

waiting for the new bed, the driver is 4 stops away but all the way down the shore! It’s an air loom brand, we went firmer. Instead of a box spring, it has a frame with a motor, you can raise the head or the foot. Will make it easier to change the sheets!
I put together the top for a table runner that Manda requested, and laid out the other one for her. I like to lay them out and let them sit for a day, then check to see if I want to move around any of the squares.
Judy, the only steak I like is filet, which I rarely get because of the price. How was your dinner?
Deciding what’s for dinner. We have some leftover quiche, or I might make bacon and tomato sandwiches. Or both.
I’m reading Everyone Here is Lying by Shari Lapena. A 9 year old girl disappears.

Cheryl, this was a local restaurant called Kelsey's. I again chose the 7 0z. Filet mignon and it was delectable. Howard got prime rib, but he asked for it cooked medium well and wishes he picked medium, like I did. I also had seafood bisque instead of salad since we've been eating lots of tossed salads. For dessert we both chose cheesecake. They are huge pieces and waiting in the frig. As is most of his prime rib. I ate ALL of my meat at the restaurant.
So...I won't be cooking supper for the 2nd night!
One of our friends who is leaving today with her hubby for a river boat cruise in Europe was delighted to tell us that she won't have to cook for 11 days. That's how I feel when we go to Howard's sister's for a even a few days.
I've been upstairs in my sewing room this morning to get some loose filling for a pillow Howard is reconstructing. It's the same mess it's been in for ages, but one thing I found while poking around were 10 signatures blocks from our 2006 exchange on the HGTV board. I made one siggie quilt with many of them but for some reason I saved these which are special because all of them are from some of you, HERE--including ones from Ashley, Marilynn, and Sandie. I'm thinking I'll make a fabric book with these since I've already made a quilt. We'll see...mostly, I change my mind about anything and everything.
Trish, sorry Dean's a bit under the weather. Especially at exam time. I wouldn't trust shushi here because of the distance it has to travel from the oceans. In Chicago, being a cosmopolitan city, it would be much fresher and therefore, safer.
Where you live, Cheryl is inland, too, so maybe I'm off base about the whole thing???
Going back upstairs to see what else I can dig out...

It has taken me two days, on and off, to clean my small laundry "room." It hasn't had a thorough cleaning since I moved here. It's finished now. It takes me 3 times as long to get anything done.
I'm watching Sullivan's Crossing on Netflix. It's 3 seasons, 10 episodes each season. It's like Virgin River if anyone watched that. This is right up my alley, lol.
Trish, the chaffles are done when finished, no raw egg. I sometimes cook them a little longer to get them a little browner. Check them out on You Tube.
Cheryl, I haven't used chaffles as sandwich bread yet, but I am anxious to try it when I get a waffle maker. You can add lemon juice to reduce the eggy taste. There are so many recipes for how to make them as bread; they are even used as hamburger buns. I have almond flour so I will try that. Arrowroot flour is another one that is used. You don't use much flour.
Diane, how wonderful your Mom is doing well at 93. That is amazing.
Congratulations on the new beds! I bought a 3" mattress topper for mine and I love it. I wanted a softer feel.

OMG! Sh**ting at Stockton University today. Julie was already home, Eddie was in lockdown. Atlanticare Hospital where Heather is at work, shares a parking lot with Stockton, and they were also on lockdown. This is just too scary.

2. WANTED: UNMARRIED GIRLS TO PICK FRESH FRUIT AND PRODUCE AT NIGHT.
ANOTHER LOVELY DAY HERE. NO COMPLAINTS.
I'VE CHOSEN FABRIC FOR A SNOOPY WH. I HAVE TO DECIDE WHICH SAYING I WANT TO PUT ON IT.
MADE PEPPERONI/HAMBURGER PIZZA LAST NITE AND SHARED WITH 2 OTHERS SINCE I AM WATCHING MY INTAKES. I STILL HAVE SOME FOR LUNCH TODAY AND THEN MAYBE SOME POTATO PANCAKES FOR MY SUPPER. I HAVEN'T MADE THOSE IN A WHILE AND I LOVE THEM. I WILL, OF COURSE, LIMIT THE NUMBER OF TATERS I USE SO I CAN'T MAKE TOO MANY OF THEM OR I WILL HAVE TO EAT THEM ALL. NOT THAT I MIND, BUT I REALLY SHOULD BE MORE CAREFUL WHEN I MAKE THE GOOD STUFF.
HOLLY......I HOPE THE JITTERS ARE BEHIND THEM AND THEY FEEL SAFE AGAIN. HOW SAD. SUCH TRAGEDY.
THERE IS TOO MUCH WORRY IN THE WORLD. SUCH WEIRD AND NUTTY PEOPLE TO BE SHO..TING AND MAI.MING SO MANY OTHERS. THEY HAVE TOO MUCH TIME ON THEIR HANDS. THEY NEED TO BE BUSY DOING GOOD THINGS INSTEAD OF THINKING UP HOW TO DO DAMAGE.
THAT'S IT FROM ME LADIES. BE SAFE. BE EXTRA CAREFUL. HUGS FOR YOU ALL. QB S

The incident took place on the main road in front of Stockton, road rage. Two guys, one shot a girl in the face and they took off into Stockton’s parking lot, drove around and ran into the woods between the college and the hospital. Girl who got shot called 911. She was taken to the trauma center. Cops and helicopters all over, college and hospital put on lockdown. They got the 2 guys. Eddie was at a buffet lunch on campus when the lockdown happened, not a bad place to shelter in place! Julie was already home, but was really upset. Heather was at work at the hospital.
we like the new bed, we raised the head just a bit. This morning I had PT, then we stopped at a local place and brought home chicken cheesesteaks for lunch. He had a half, I had a quarter, so we have dinner too!
I haven’t said anything because I didn’t want to jinx myself, but as of today I’ve lost 30 pounds since May. It’s going slowly, and the whole month of August I was up and down the same two pounds. Since September 1 I’ve lost 5 pounds. Down a tee shirt size and 2 pants size. I’ve got a way to go, but I’m making progress!

Holly, so glad your family is safe. It is indeed a scary world these days. Dean and I were just talking about that earlier today.
Congrats on the weight loss, that is A LOT of weight to lose in that time. I also like books by Shari Lapena, but I don't think I have read that one. I will have to check on it.
I just had two deer and a fawn (maybe a yearling?) drinking from my bird bath. After they left, Dean went out and put a 5 gallon bucket full of water near the bird bath. They have been draining every night due to such little or no rain. We do have a creek just a short distance away, maybe a half mile, but they seem to like my yard with the bird feeders, water and all my flowers. They are now eating my geraniums flowers.
I saw a few pictures of Theresa and Carol on Facebook and looks like a grand time by all at the COF in Utah.
Judy, not sure about the sushi thing. I just do not like it at all. My grand kids do but they did say the sushi they get in California is better. I think it is just because they are in California; everything seems better on vacation.

The pizza bake didn't taste much like pizza. I used too much pizza sauce. I forgot to buy italian sausage, so I added bacon along with ground beef. I doubt making it again. Greg told me Marco's has a crustless pizza.
Holly, keep up the good work! 30 lbs. is a really nice weight loss. I need to cut back on my portions if I want a loss when I weigh Monday.

MANGLED MODIFIERS.......
HE RODE HIS HORSE ACROSS HIGHWAY 12 AND UP AND DOWN THE SIDEWALK IN FRONT OF THE SALOON A GOOD HALF HOUR BEFORE DEPUTIES ARRIVED, SHOUTING OBSCENITIES AND BEING OBNOXIOUS.
WHERE OH WHERE ARE THE RAINDROPS. NOT HERE, THAT'S FOR SURE. WE NEED SOME. BUT THE DAYS ARE LOVELY WHILE WE WAIT.
HOLLY......HOORAY FOR THE WEIGHT LOSS. I KNOW ITS NOT EASY. BUT IF WE STICK TO IT, WE WILL GET THERE. YOU ARE DOING WONDERFULLY WELL. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
DO YOU SERVE YOURSELF SMALLER PORTIONS? THAT OFTEN WORKS. AND THERE ARE PLATEAUS WE HIT BUT WE CAN'T GET DISCOURAGED. THE WEIGHT WILL SLOWLY MOVE OFF IF WE CAN OUTLAST THAT PART OF THE PLAN.
SORRY THE FAMILY HAD TO GO THRU ALL THAT. THAT POOR GIRL WHO GOT SHOT IN THE FACE. ITS A MIRACLE SHE COULD CALL 911 AND GET HELP.
CHERYL.....I APPLAUD YOU FOR PUTTING OUT FRESH WATER FOR THE DEER AND WILDLIFE AND NOT GETTING TOO STRESSED OUT THAT THEY ARE EATING THE BIRDSEED AND THE PLANTS. THE FLOWERS WILL GROW AGAIN. I BELIEVE WE MUST HELP OUR WILDLIFE WHEN NEEDED. AFTER ALL, WE USURPED THEIR WILD LANDS WHEN WE BUILT OUR HOMES IN THEIR ZONES.
WELL, I HAD TO ORDER A NEW IRON. MY WATER CAP BROKE OFF (ITS PLASTIC OF COURSE) AND THO I STUCK A PAPER TOWEL IN THE HOLE THE WATER KEPT SLOSHING OUT ON MY FABRICS. I ORDERED A NEW BLACK N DECKER STEAM IRON WITH THE CORD REWINDER FROM TARGET. THEY DON'T LEAK WHEN YOU USE THE STEAM. MY FAVORITE IRON.
I NEVER MADE MY POTATO PANCAKES LAST NITE. I WAS BUSY SEWING DOWN A SNOOPY FOR A DOOR HANGING. TOOK A LOT OF TIME. BY THEN MY BACK WAS ACHING. I HAD TO REST SO JUST MADE MYSELF A PEANUT BUTTER SANDWICH FOR SUPPER INSTEAD. I WILL TRY THE PANCAKES TODAY. I ALSO HAVE SOME PORK CHOPS DEFROSTED SO I THINK MAYBE BAKED CHOPS AND POTATOES MAYBE TOMORROW WITH THOSE.
MY DEAR NEIGHBOR CONNIE IS MOVING OUT TODAY TO LIVE WITH HER DAUGHTER. ITS BEST. HER DAUGHTER WATCHES HER DIET FOR HER VERY CLOSELY. AND SHE WORRIES ABOUT CONNIE. SO NOW THEY HAVE BUILT A BEDROOM ON THEIR HOUSE IN THE NEXT TOWN OF LIMINGTON. CONNIE WILL BE WELL TAKEN CARE OF. SHE HAS SO MANY HEALTH ISSUES AND RARELY COMPLAINS. SHE'S ALSO SO THOUGHTFUL OF HER NEIGHBORS. I GAVE HER A BATTERY LANTERN FOR A GOING-AWAY GIFT. SHE'S MOVING TO THE COUNTRY AND IT MAY COME IN HANDY. ITS A GOOD ONE. I HAVE ONE FOR MYSELF THAT I USE WHEN OUR POWER GOES OUT.
THAT'S IT LADIES. THIS AND THAT ON MY SCHEDULE FOR TODAY. I DO NOT PLAN TO OVERDO IT TODAY.
HUGS FOR YOU ALL. QB S

Cheryl, the Lapena is worth reading. Halfway thru, you’ll say “Oh poop!”. And the ending, wow!
Sandra, yes to portion sizes. And only one glass of sweet tea, the rest water. And only one snacky thing. And I brush my teeth after dinner, and don’t eat anything after dinner.
I got the top of Manda’s second table runner assembled, that was enough for today.
Sandra, I love the Snoopy!

We woke up to cloudy and dark and then had a good rain. Needed it but not to the extent of some of you. I actually like a cloudy/rainy day here and there, but always think of those who work all week and then don't have sunshine for the weekend.
Yesterday, we had lunch at Ch-F-A, my usual sandwich and Howard tried their grilled nuggets, which he liked. Then, we went to Kohl's and I was able to find a sweater for my friend, Bobbie's birthday, a sale blouse for me and H. got himself a black jacket. Then, we went to pick of the truck, at the repair shop since Monday. Turns out, the part (?) that failed was under warranty from the last repair and we were charged nothing, not even labor. Howard tried to talk the owner into accepting something but he just blew him off and said, "We'll talk about it next time..." There ARE honest and generous people out there and we are grateful.
QB, congrats on the big Bingo win. Don't spend it all in one place! Sounds like you're on a roll with sewing, again. Me too! I'm re-constructing a Cabin Creek (remember that brand?) jacket I got at a yard sale years ago. Discovered it again while pawing through the stuff in my sewing room the other day. Anyway, have a good day of rest tomorrow.
Cheryl, hard to be mad at deer, isn't it? I don't grow anything, so they're welcome to "mow" our lawn, anytime. We love seeing them, which isn't as often as in the past. Howard says due to the more relaxed hunting rules, now. Since I've never had true sushi with raw fish, I don't know if I like it or not I sometimes get the grocery store kind made with artificial crab for myself. Howard wouldn't touch it and he loves seafood.
Holly, congrats on your weight loss. Be careful...youre clothes might fall off...like Kelli's half slip did that time in church! I'll bet your girls really noticed when they were home recently. So sorry about the scare for all of you. Poor Julie. She's had such good teenage years and now this. Reality is hard, especially the first time you're hit with something like this.
BJ, hope you're feeling less pain. Also hope Tracey, et al. are able to be with you and Frank this weekend.
I need to go. Howard is upstairs watching football. I LOVE football...for it's perks not the actual game. Still need to get busy. Friday will be here too soon and we're on to host the Bible Study group. Trying to come up with the entree, my responsibility. Have a good weekend.
