Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

Trish, we have a generator- 2 actually- for if the power will be out for a while. Years ago it was out for days, we used our big generator to power the refrigerator and freezers for us and our neighbor. After that, Dave bought his own. A lot of people I know have whole house generators, but they cost at least 8k, and our power is rarely out that long.

I’ve been busy in the house. Finished cleaning my bureau and closet, changed to fall shower curtains, took down the summer mantle decorations and have put up some of the fall ones. Now the knees are screaming, so sitting for a while.

Carol, glad to see you back. What a good distraction the trip was for Theresa!

There’s a nice breeze blowing, going to be in the 70’s and sunny

Linda, Happy 90th to Darrell!

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

Sadie Grace spent the night with me because she's tired of going to ball practices. I told her to come back tonight if she wanted to. They have to leave at 6 am for a ball tournament tomorrow, an hour away. It's usually 3 or 4 ballgames in one day. They were there 13 hours last weekend.

Diane, I keep forgetting to wish you happy birthday, so a happy belated birthday wish coming your way!

Linda, glad y'all are doing ok. Happy #90 to Darrell!

No oak trees here, but I do have one maple tree in my front yard. My favorite tree is the sugar maple. We planted 3 at our other house and they had finally started growing good, when I sold the house. Also had a beautiful Yoshini Cherry tree there that was huge. No "trees" in my backyard except crepe myrtle and I don't call those real trees.

There are a lot of new recipes I want to try on You Tube, so today I got out my index cards and will be writing down the recipes. I had to buy arrowroot powder for one recipe, but forgot which recipe it was for, lol. I can easily find it in my YT Library.

Cheryl, I know what you mean. Things like that bother me too. I was never a hoarder, quite the opposite.

Judy, I hope you could relax and enjoy your group yesterday. ML is right on the ball when you need her and she knows the right time to come.

Trish, I have quite a bit of work to get done around here, but I am finished with the inside except my sewing room. So very happy how everything looks and I took 3 loads to a thrift store. I will be trimming some bushes maybe later today. Curbside pickup comes Tuesday and I want to get the cuttings to the curb then. I don't have a man, so I have to do the manly work around here, lol. I can only trim a little at a time, but it's getting done. This trim job will last 3 or 4 years and if I'm still around then, I'll hire it done the next time. The next job is I have a huge crack across my patio so I read about "backer rod" on YT. It's rubber that you put in the hole and you don't have to use as much concrete filler. It was super easy to do. I sat in a chair and moved the chair along the crack until I got the backer rod finished. I used a trowel to push it in. Never heard of such a product. I bought a caulk g*un and the filler will be here next week. It should take less than 2 hours to finish filling the crack. Once these two jobs are finished, I want to organize the garage which won't take long. I have energy galore right now!  After these 3 big jobs are over, it's all about me for the rest of the year!

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

I read how to microwave bacon. Two sheets of paper towel, bacon, two more sheets. Nuke for 5 minutes. Perfect.

Devonne, my crepe Myrtle is about 20 feet tall! The deer eat the flowers as high as they can reach.

I made cupcakes, and nuked some bacon for later. Did some kitchen tidying, put away clean dishes. By then the knees were screaming again, soI’m sitting eating a salad for a late lunch.

Re: ODT SUNDAY SEPT 14 ~ SAT SEPT 20

Holly, I use the microwave to make bacon if I just want a small batch.  Otherwise, I fry it because I like to save the bacon drippings (fat) for cooking.  I also like bacon make in the oven but again, I like to get the bacon grease, so the oven in not my first choice.  I use it to flavor green beans, fried potatoes, etc.

The feral cat group in my area is growing.  I only had two little kittens that came around, one orange and one little gray striped one.  Now I see two or three others.  I know my neighbor was feeding them, but she is 89 years old and don't know if she is still doing that.  Perhaps not, and that is why they are roaming.  All I know is that I don't want to see a bunch of kittens in my yard.  I have enough animals around.

Carol, that is a lot of miles on your car!!  I don't know if I could drive that many miles in one or two trips.

Nothing else to say today, except, sending well wishes to all.
