Theresa, you are so right about the urn costs at funeral homes. You can also get really small ones from Amazon to give to any family member that might want them and necklaces too.
I have a dr's appt. in the morning. I hope the lab work will show why I am so fatigued. I think my Vitamin D may be really low again.
Offline
Theresa, deepest sympathy on the death of your mom. She was a fighter and you were such an advocate for her. ((hugs)) It is NEVER easy to lose a mom.
I did not know about buying urns on the internet! We can learn something everyday.
Devonne, I hope you get some answers to your fatigue issue.
Grandkids start school tomorrow. That means picking them up every day, but at least this year both of them will be at the same building since it is a 7-12 building. Gabriel will have after school marching band practice three days a week, but after that it will be a much easier daily chore. Dad will drop them off each morning.
Nothing else to say, so will close for now. Take care all.

Devonne, does the doc have you on a daily dose of D3?
The party is over, the B&B is closed. Steph, Manda, Ben and the kids are in the air, same flight to SeaTac. Then Steph has an hour layover, then her 45 minute flight to Portland. And Heather and family left this morning to drive to Lake George NY, trailering the boat. And I didn’t cry when they all left! The house is so quiet!

THERESA I am so very sorry, even though you knew it was coming it doesn't make it any easier, I'm hoping that it will help you to know that you did absolutely everything possible for her, you should have no regrets. I will arrange for her to be added to the list at mass on that day ((((hugs))))
HOLLY you will miss them, but I am guessing you are also tired, it's exhausting having so much fun!!
DEVONNE sorry you have no energy still, perhaps the meds are still messing with you. It may be also iron and Vit D we don't get enough of that these days, and often we think it's enough iron, but not with the right foods to help it absorb better ((hugs)))
SANDRA I love the idea of more victorian ladies, they are so pretty, and you can do a little embellishment while sitting as well, how is Gina, any more side effects?
CAROL thank you so much for letting us know, I do hop you can tell us about your trip a little (or a lot )
I would love to hear about the small museum, we went to Robbie Burns house, pretty little village, and I enjoyed the countryside around Culloden.
I have been puttering today, went to the big mall, got some things for Pete for his birthday, then to the bank, we saw a lovely guy, he was very helpful last time, and asked us to come see him again, we had to wait, but he was worth it, in our conversations we somehow got onto cars and insurance and his being expensive ( a vintage car ) I commented about my nephew with his street racer, and he knows him, what a small world, as soon as I showed him the pic of Regan's car he said he knew it immediately, told me (I knew) Regan holds the record for that car at the track, and he remembered that it was originally white.
I didn't tell him that Regan posts to my birthday "Happy birthday you old bat" LOL I doubt he would appreciate the love behind the sentiment!!
It's leftovers tonight, I made a big chicken stew yesterday with my "free" chicken breast. It was the pack I got delivered by mistake.
Heard from my SisIL, my brother is not responding to treatment and the cancer is spreading in his liver, it's the secondary one. They will begin a new chemo next week. I know his time is limited, I just hope he can be comfortable. My sis still doesn't want to accept the diagnosis

Holly- they will love Lake George. We have gone yearly, sometimes more for about 30 years. It never gets old for us. Unfortunately we will not be going this year. 😭
Theresa- again, 🙏🏻😢.

Good Morning to everyone!! It is a beautiful day here, very still, but the sky is so blue with lots of white clouds. I really don't have a thing to say this morning, so will just sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

Janet, they go to Lake George almost every summer, stay in the same place right on the lake. They take the boat with them. Heather and Ed even went in January or February to an ice festival. Julie didn’t get a senior trip, their advisor doesn’t like to fly so they couldn’t go to Disney. His choice was Va Beach. None of them signed up to go, so no trip at all. So Heather let Julie decide on the summer trip, and she picked Lake George. Bonus, there are good outlets a mile away. When just Heather and Ed went in the winter, he went with her to the outlets. He’d never been to an outlet, and loved it. He practically bought a whole new winter wardrobe, our guy who hates to shop.
Girls all got home to the PacNW safely, now they may have jet lag, LOL.
We’re meeting a friend for lunch at one of the diners.

Afternoon y'all!
We did get rain last night. A good bit so everything is happy.
I have stuff to do but no energy, not sleeping well. I hope that improves once the funeral is over. We're working on Interment for next Friday. I so hope we can pull that off. I know this sounds awful but I want this over and done with. I have so much work ahead of me since I am executrix of the will! I have 2 countries to deal with! Fun!
We have sent the obituary in, just waiting for them to put it up online! I have to get stuff together for the mass I have one reader, my reader for the second reading is not coming so need to search for another reader! I don't know when my niece will come or how long she will stay, so it's a roll of the dice! I guess one of my kids could do the reading and I can put my niece with the other 2 to bring up the gifts. No wonder I have a headache!
To probate mom's will here I have to fill out the forms, and make an appointment and they will tell me what to do and answer any questions. This is so much easier than South Carolina. Since there is not land, just accounts, it should be easy peasy. Should being the operative word!
I still need to bag moms clothes for donation. That will go a long way to finding my house under all the stuff we have already brought home. Forget what is still at the facility!
Need to go actually accomplish something today! Need to look through photos. I have none of my NSDB and my mom neither does he. I wanted it for the program, that comes with the mass.
Later my Friends!

The oncologist took me off Tamoxifen for three weeks to see if my fatigue improves. I'm going to wait to take the Vitamin D3 and Calcium, both1,000mg per day, until we rule out if it's the Tamoxifen causing my fatigue. I know about calcium and the cardiovascular risks, so that's a little scary. I was on it for years and quit taking it. You're "da...ed if you do, and da....ed if you don't!
He said he couldn't put me on the next medicine to try because it weakens your bones. My bone density test earlier this year wasn't good. She took four vials of blood. I don't know yet if my Vitamin D is low. He said low Vitamin D doesn't normally make you feel fatigued. Hmm? I was surprised he said that because it goes against everything I've ever been told or read.

I just read about your Mom, Theresa. So sad for your loss, yet her suffering is over for her and for you. No one could ask for a better daughter than you've been. Hugs and love.
Supper is in the crockpot and almost ready but I wanted to come here and check in. We're having a cooler day--doors open again after the extreme heat and humidity. Howard finally got to mow today, too, after all the rain. I've made a stew of cubed beef, a can of petite diced tomatoes, some leftover broth and zucchini and yellow squash. Will saute some fresh mushrooms to add at the end.
Devonne, hope you get some answers, soon. I didn't know about the risk of taking calcium, which I've done for years. Will ask my cardio at the next appt. Would like to quit those huge tablets that seem like chokers. As I caught up reading, I wonder about your maybe asking Greg to drive you up to see your sister. I'm not sure that younger people realize the issues of traveling anywhere, let alone by themselves. He's so good to you. Perhaps he's never thought of that and would consider it if you asked.
Trish you made me laugh at the "old bat" monniker. That's what Howard lovingly calls me. That and old hen and several other 'endearments'. I must say they always make me laugh.
I can think of some I'd like to call him, too. And I do, often, directly, or under my breath!
Cheryl, seems that what lots of grandparents do, now. My friend, Bobbie, has to get up at 6 am to see her two motherless (lost to cancer 2 yrs. ago) grandson and granddaughter off to school, each morning. And then back in the afternoon, as they come home. Glad to hear it's the same school this year for you and Dean.
Better go and get supper on. Have a good evening and sweet dreams.

Oh, Judy, if my hubby called me an old bat I think I would pop him in the nose!
Holly, I would think after all that company that you are ready for some quiet time. Sounds like you all had a wonderful time. Memories made are wonderful.
Theresa, sending positive thoughts and prayers for you during this time. As you said, you have a lot to do.
As for picking up the kids from school, most of the people we see waiting for the other kids are grandparents too. Or at least older people, perhaps not grandparents. At least busing is offered once again for the high schoolers. Last year it was cut due to lack of drivers and funding. This year it is back, so not as many cars should be in the lines waiting for kids. So, as I said, last year we had to go to two different schools for the afternoon pickup and Dean had to take Amelia to school an hour after Gabriel had to start. Will not miss that.
Made spaghetti for supper with store bought garlic bread. Judy, that stew with chicken and veggies sounded delicious! That is my kind of food.
Devonne, I did not know of any risks with calcium. I take 1500 mg a day because I did not want to start a bone increasing medication. I do have oesteoporosis in my left hip area. I had osteopenia for years but this last scan was worse but I refused medication, so he upped my calcium intake. I see a cardiologist and she never mentioned anything either? I will have to google the risks.

MIXED METAPHORS......
1. I WOULDN'T BE CAUGHT DEAD IN THAT MOVIE WITH A TEN-FOOT POLE.
2. THE SCARED COWS HAVE SOME HOME TO ROOST WITH A VENGEANCE.
IT GOT COOL LAST NIGHT, INTO THE 40S. TODAY EXPECTING 70S AND SUNSHINE.
ON CARTING THE GRANDS TO SCHOOL......
WHEN I MOVED IN WITH MY SON IN 2004 HIS 2 KIDS WERE YOUNG. HIS WIFE WANTED TO GO BACK TO WORK SO I DROVE THE KIDS TO THEIR BUSES EACH MORNING AND HOME AT NIGHT. THE BUS STOP WAS 3 QUARTERS OF A MILE FROM THE HOUSE AND PART OF IT DOWN A VERY STEEP HILL. BOTH GRANDS WENT TO DIFFERENT SCHOOLS SO DIFFERENT TIMES FOR THE BUSES. THAT MEANT TWICE TO GET THEM TO THE BUS STOP AND THEN TWICE AFTER SCHOOL TO PICK THEM UP. I WAS UP AT 6 AM FOR YEARS. I ALSO SOMETIMES HAD TO PICK UP ONE OR THE OTHER AFTER PRACTICE AFTER THEIR SCHOOL OR TO THE DENTIST FOR THEIR BRACES. I WAS VERY HAPPY WHEN THEY WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL TOGETHER, ONLY ONE TRIP AM AND PM. NO REST FOR THE NEWLY RETIRED, THAT'S FOR SURE.
I WAS GIVEN AN 8-LB BOSTON BUTT ROAST BY MY NEIGHBOR WHO GOT IT FROM THE FOOD PANTRY. I THOUGHT IT A GOOD THING TO MAKE FOR THE CROWD. SO I WILL ROAST IT TOMORROW FOR SUPPER. I TOOK NAMES AT BINGO LAST NITE. I HAVE 5 ON MY LIST SO FAR WHO WANT A PORK ROAST DINNER WITH POTATOES AND VEGS.
I LOST 2.50 AT BINGO LAST NITE. THAT'S 3 WEEKS IN A ROW LOSING A BIT OF CHANGE. I REALLY NEED BETTER LUCK NEXT WEEK, I AM TIRED OF BUYING ROLLS OF QUARTERS, THO I ALSO NEED THEM FOR LAUNDRY.
TODAY IS CRAFT MORNING. I HAVE MY NEW HAND APPLIQUE PROJECT READY TO GO. THIS WAY I CAN SIT AND CHAT AND LISTEN WHILE I AM STITCHING. ONLY 9 PIECES IN THIS VICTORIAN LADY, FROM A DRAWING OF MY OWN. I PLAN TO ALSO HAND QUILT THE BLOCK WHEN ITS DONE. THAT WILL KEEP ME OFF THE STREETS. THE CAROLE ARMSTRONG PATTERNS OF BIRDS AND CATS, THO LOVELY, HAD TOO MANY PIECES TO THEM AND SOME OF THEM VERY SMALL. I WANTED A PROJECT I DON'T HAVE TO KEEP A SHARP EYE ON EVERY MINUTE.
THAT'S IT LADIES. STAY SAFE. HUGS FOR YOU ALL. QB S

Hi! to everyone!! I'm not doing very well this morning, really struggling. Just saying Hi! to everyone. Am going to sign off, hope you all have a nice day, BJ.

BJ, I'm so sorry you are struggling today. Sending prayers and love.
My doctor's office called. My Vitamin D is low...not too bad 27.5, 30 is the lowest it should be. My Vitamin B-12 is low as well. He did call in a high dosage prescription of Vitamin D. I take one a week for 8 weeks. I'm waiting on a call about the B-12.
About calcium, your body can only absorb 500-600mg at a time so if you're taking 1,500mg at one time, anything over 500-600 is passed thru urine/stool. It's best to split them and take 500mg twice a day with food. I'm trying to get enough calcium through my food. I do eat a lot of dairy (cheese, eggs, milk, yogurt) and I love leafy greens, broccoli, etc.
Sandra, you are on a losing roll! Sending vibes for that to change next week.
I went to the post office and bought one stamp, lol. Hard to believe a single stamp is now $.78. She said, is that all you want? I told her I was waiting on the Christmas stamps to come out, which will be late in October.
update: dr's office called. They will monitor my B-12.

SIGNS OF THE TIMES......
1. IN A CLOTHING STORE: WONDERFUL BARGAINS FOR MEN WITH 16 AND 17 NECKS.
2. IN A TACOMA WASHINGTON, MEN'S CLOTHING STORE: 15 MEN'S WOOL SUITS....$10.00....THEY WON'T LAST AN HOUR.
ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NORTH COUNTRY.
TODAY IS THE DAY I ROAST THAT PORK BUTT. ALL PLANS ARE IN TRAIN. I DON'T KNOW HOW I LET THIS GET AWAY FROM ME. I WANTED TO COOK IT AND PORTION IT OUT IN CONTAINERS AND DELIVER THEM. ANOTHER LADY, A FORMER RESTAURANT OWNER, SUGGESTED THE PARTY AND ANOTHER SECONDED THE MOTION. I WENT ALONG WITH IT. IT GETS MORE COMPLICATED THIS WAY AS ONE CAN IMAGINE. THERE ARE PAPER PLATES TO BUY AND NAPKINS AND A SNACK PLATTER AND GRAVY TO MAKE. AND I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE SO SIMPLE. UTENSILS AND SERVING SPOONS AND THINGS AND MORE DISHES TO WASH AFTERWARDS. IT WOKE ME UP EARLY THIS MORNING WORRYING ABOUT IT ALL. I ALSO HAVE TO HAVE IT DONE BY 5 PM WHEN USUALLY I HAVE SOME LEEWAY WHEN I DELIVER CONTAINERS. AH WELL, LEARN SOMETHING EVERY DAY, EVEN IN OUR OLD AGE.
SORRY FOR THE CONPLAINING THIS MORNING FRIENDS. I HAVE NO ONE ELSE TO HEAR MY WOES. THANKFULLY, WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE, MY WOES ARE MUCH LESS THAN THEY COULD BE IF I HAD HEALTH ISSUES. I SHALL BITE MY TONGUE, SMILE, AND ENJOY MY DAY.
I WILL BE VACUUMING TODAY AND MAYBE A BIT OF DUSTING. MY SON SHOPS FOR ME SO IT WILL BE NICE TO SIT DOWN WITH HIM FOR AWHILE AND CHAT BEFORE HE TAKES HIS TRIP SOUTH FOR THE WEEKEND.
STAY SAFE MY FRIENDS. HUGS, QB S

Oh, Sandra, you did get yourself a big job! I wish you good luck on that.
I take 3 Calcium 600+D. I take 1 in the AM and 2 in the PM. Did not want to take the bone building meds. My dentist would not sign off on it because I was in the process of doing two root canals and crowns at the time. So, I just stuck with the calcium. I have a dairy intolerance so I don't do milk very often. I do eat yogurt and cheese sparingly.
BJ, hope you feel better soon. Thinking of you.
Dean and I did some weeding in the yard/flower beds. We need rain here for sure. I ran the vacuum in the living room and now playing on the computer.

Oh, poor QB...I would be fussing, too. Things like that need to be the hostess' idea, not someone else's to cause you angst. (As you can tell, I'm not much of a party giver...or goer!)
Howard is lunching with Dave and doing some errands. ML is on her way here with lunch, some kind of wraps that she loves and wants me to try. AND, with a 55"x 55" lap quilt that she sent me a pic of and after seeing it, I asked her to buy it for me. $20, hand quilted by an Amish woman with a label on it. The seller said her husband had won it at something he went to.
Friend, Bobbie was supposed to come over for a visit and to bring me a "cross stitched purse that her late aunt had commissioned someone to make" I'm wondering if she meant "needlepoint"? Figured I'd know when I see it. But, it wasn't working out, so I suggested she come another time when it would... It's feast or famine, here, sometimes.
It's a gorgeous late summer day. No humidity and in the high 70's, doors and windows open.
BJ, so sorry your not feeling very good. Take it easy and baby yourself and I hope you feel better, soon.
Going to sign off, as ML should be here momentarily...

Sandra, it seems to me that the person who suggested a party should be helping prepare the food!
