Thought I'd better post here as it's getting late LOL
SANDRA while I was reading I was thinking my gosh what a lot of work for you, so glad to hear it turned out so well, and what a great idea to do it every so often, BUT share the load, way to much for one person.
What a lovely time together, and great food as well, bonus!!!
CAROL it had been a dream of mine too, I saw the Tatto when they came to Australia, not quite the same as being at the castle. I agree, those tourist shops on the Mile!! And so many of the same, we did find some things to buy we also ate in the Burger place down one of the side streets, opposite Giles?? Church on the Mile - I'll have to look it up - it was so very crowded when we were there I was amazed by the huge line up to get into the Tattoo, everyone just queuing politely and patiently, chatting - then moving slowly and no pushing, also the way they got us out, each section singly - guess after 75 yrs they have learnt a thing or two.
I am finding I enjoy handwork more - not that I do much, my thumbs get so sore, arthritis kicking in!!
DEVONNE good luck with the meds, I take a calcium supplement with D added - they suggest it here, my osteoporosis isn't great, but better with the meds and exercise. the numbers have improved.
THERESA I saw the obit for your mum, the priest was happy to have
"Theresa's mum" on the list, but happier we had a name LOL Best wishes to you all as you give her her final farewell (((hugs)))
INDY did you get to see the quilt after all? We have had so much rain, I finally got my washing all done yesterday, no internet at all so I could stay busy (realised that reads as we had no internet, =19.5pxnope, just I didn't use it!!) - but we had sunshine, first time in a week.
CHERYL my nephew is only joking, it's his way of telling me he loves me, he doesn't ever wish anyone else happy birthday on Facebook. My sis is a bit jealous LOL He and I have a great relationship!
HOLLY sounds like you have a winner for your shoes.. I can't go barefoot, my feet don't like it, did all the time as a kid, but old age has decided I shouldn't do that anymore. Hope you have all settled down now.
I had a productive day yesterday, did all the washing, and washed the floors. Also cut out blocks for another quilt, PLUS I made another top on Friday, a quick Perfect 10 one. I started one for my sis, but I need to lay it out, and the Mr was home, so that didn't happen. Not quite sure if it's what I want, it looks a bit dark and gloomy. I have another fabric I can add in - which means unpicking a couple bits in the first section I've already done.
I have defrosted, de-iced my freezer, it was horrendous! Took quite a while to get all the ice off, and also made a steamed fruit cake/pudding for Sara's hubby, he loves it, haven't made one for a while, he says he has a small slice every afternoon and it keeps him going till dinner LOL They freeze it, it weighs about 4lb.
Little Fletch is doing well, and Chloe is also doing well, Miss Bride wakes him "little brother -time to wake up" LOL hopefully when it IS time to wake up, she is being a little helper and is coping with another person in the house pretty well.
I need to turn this pudding out, hoping it doesn't stick

Goodness! It took many attempts, but at least I was finally able to login! No such luck last weekend! I hope everyone is well, and I hope to read one day soon! Vertigo has plagued me, which has been no fun!

1. SHE'LL GET IT BY HOOK OR BY LADDER.
2. THE BANKERS' POCKETS ARE BULGING WITH THE SWEAT OF THE HONEST WORKING MAN.
ITS SUNNY OUT RIGHT NOW BUT HOPEFULLY WE WILL GET THAT RAIN THEY PROMISED FOR THIS AFTERNOON. CROSSING MY FINGERS.
CAROL......IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAD A MARVELOUS TRIP AND ENJOYED IT IMMENSELY. GOOD FOR YOU.
THERESA......I HOPE YOU ARE DOING WELL AND THE RUNNING AROUND CAN SLOW DOWN AT LAST. YOU CAN BE ASSURED YOU TOOK GOOD CARE OF YOUR MOM ALL THESE YEARS.
DIANE......SORRY YOU HAVE TROUBLE FINDING US. I KNOW OUR GROUP HAS GOTTEN SMALLER, BUT SURELY WE ARE STILL A BLIP OUT THERE SOMEWHERE. MAYBE NEXT TIME YOU CAN POP RIGHT IN WITHOUT ANY TROUBLE.
SORRY FOR THE VERTIGO. I KNOW HOW THAT FEELS AND ITS NOT GOOD. BETTER DAYS AHEAD. HUGS GIRL.
HOW IS EVERYONE DOING TODAY? ITS SUNDAY. FOR ME ITS MY DAY OF REST. OF COURSE, MOST ANY DAY CAN BE MY DAY OF REST IF I FEEL LIKE IT. NO DEADLINES TO MEET. NOBODY I NEED TO PLEASE. ITS LUCKY I AM NOT A PERSON WHO EVER FEELS LONELY. NEVER HAVE, NEVER WILL I GUESS. I THINK I COULD LIVE THE LIFE OF A HERMIT AND BE JUST FINE. MANY A TIME WHEN I AM WITH THE LADIES HERE I WISH I COULD SLIP AWAY AND BE ALONE BUT STAY LONGER TO BE CONSIDERATE. I ACTUALLY HAVE TO FORCE MYSELF TO JOIN IN KNOWING ITS GOOD FOR ME AND THEY ARE A NICE GROUP.
THIS FORUM IS ANOTHER MATTER. I DON'T HAVE TO GO ANYWHERE, JUST STAY IN MY QUIET APT AND JOIN IN. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN GRATEFUL FOR OUR TIME TOGETHER. ITS NICE TO HAVE FRIENDS LIKE YOU AND A PLACE TO SOUND OFF WHEN NEEDED. HUGS FOR YOU ALL FRIENDS.
AS FOR MY DAY TODAY, NOTHING PLANNED EXCEPT MY LAPS AND WORKING THE PUZZLE. I WORKED ON IT AWHILE YESTERDAY AND GOT A GOOD BIT FOUND. THAT'S ALWAYS NICE. I DON'T HAVE TO COOK AGAIN BUT I THINK I WILL HAVE A DIFFERENT LUNCH TODAY THAN LEFTOVERS. THE VEGGIES ARE DONE WITH JUST THE ROAST PORK LEFT SO WILL HAVE TO THINK UP A SIDE DISH TO GO WITH THAT TONITE.
THAT'S IT FROM ME TODAY. CAN'T STRETCH OUT THE NEWS ANY FURTHER. HUGS FRIENDS. QB S

No news here. It's a lovely cool day, sun in, sun out as it seems fit. And Howard is UPSTAIRS watching football with the bird...well maybe...about the bird.
Trish, I now own the quilt. It's lying across the end of the spare bed. May stay there. Has A sturdy stick in the hanging sleeve, but I've only got one wall to put it on and am not sure about that, yet. The label, not an attached fabric one but the paper one says: quilted by Cathern (that's the spelling) & Rebecca Steury expressly for Vic Ritter. I knew Vic Ritter years ago when I worked for an architectural firm and he was still in arch. school and did an internship with us and eventually was hired, then became one of the principles. I had married Howard and left there soon after he interned. It IS a small world but this is/was a small town. M
As you know, most garage sale finds are anonymous and untraceable, so this has been a small but interesting mystery. ML is going to check on Ancestry for these two women, but I doubt Amish, especially Amish women, have much of a footprint. The quilt is machine pieced but hand quilted and hand bound. I'll try for a pic for you. I can't do it without Howard and I don't know if he can navigate it all, now. (Surely better than me, though.)
QB, that's how I am. Never lonely. I blame that...and everything else...on being an only child on a farm who had to amuse herself. Enjoy your day of rest, maybe even more so after stepping up and doing all that for the party.
I would like to ready Theresa's mom's obit, too Does anyone have a link to it? Not sure where you found it, Trish... Like you all Howard's "endearments" are done in fun. Lord knows, we have enough disagreements and differences. So, I don't bristle at them. As I said, I have a few for him, some unprintable, here, but appropriate, INHO!
So with that unnecessary and useless information, I'll close this, wishing you all the best rest of the day.

Calling someone an old bat brought up a memory for me. One of my cousins, a boy a couple of years older than me, was at our house a lot as we were growing up. He often called Mom an old bat, not to be mean but that was his nickname for her. I think she was his favorite aunt. He was one to tease a lot - Mom said he started teasing me the first time he saw me. He was only 2 but would pull my sleeve down over my hand. The teasing continued throughout our childhood but he was also a friend to me in many ways. When I was confined to bed for a year and a half with rheumatic fever, he would spend hours playing board games with me.
Growing up with three brothers and five cousins who lived nearby, I was never without someone to spend time with. Maybe that is why I do not like to be alone for long periods of time. If I have more than two days in a row with no plans to go someplace or be with people, I get a bit depressed and grumpy.

I just talked to Theresa for a long time. She is doing well. We were planning our road trip to the COF Retreat in Salt Lake City.
My theatrical adventures in Edinburgh were so much fun. On Thursday, I thought that since I was at the world's largest theater arts festival, I should go see something. The Viking wrestlers didn't appeal, neither did angsty theater. So, I found the box office and a catalog of all of the listings. Whew! I finally found something called Much Ado about Pirates which was described as a mashup of Shakespeare and Gilbert and Sullivan (19th century English comic opera). Two of my favorites. So, I bought a ticket for the Saturday morning performance, and set off to figure out where the venue was.
On my way, I was stopped by a woman advertising her "theater of the absurd," which included a magic show, a mime artist, a poetry recitation, and audience participation. All in one hour. Hmmm, okay. She said it was in a pub called Whistle Binkie's. I took the flyer, kept going, and found the Saturday morning theater place. I turned around, and lo and behold, there was Whistle Binkie's, and the performance started in 20 minutes. Okay, why not? I bought some lemonade in the pub, waited for the show to open, and sat down with a young Korean woman from Rome? It is international, after all. She said she always gets picked for audience participation. I told her that maybe if we sat together she wouldn't get picked.
So, it started with the two sets of chairs being divided into teams, led by the magician brothers, Cain and Abel. This was heading downhill quickly, fueled by a lot of alcohol. Fringe Twat, some really weird looking guy, was assigned to be the scorekeeper. First audience game was Rock, Paper, Scissors. Whichever team had the most people standing after 3 rounds won. 6 points. Then came a game of Guess Who which meant the panel people had to shut their eyes while the hostess picked someone from the audience. Yep, it was the Korean woman and I. So, the panelists had to guess things about the person. Male or female? Female. All guys sit down. Wearing denim? No. Everyone in jeans sits down. Wearing glasses? Yes. Everyone without glasses sits down. By now, it's the two of us. Shops online a lot? Nope, not me. I sat down. We win 14 points. In between we have a magic trick and a poetry recitation. More audience participation. Throwing inflatable pig balloons around on each team, kind of like hot potato. When the music stopped, whoever had the pig had to grab a named item and the pig and run to the front. You can imagine with the alcohol involved how well this was going. I got tired of being hit by this pig, so I grabbed it by one of its legs and chunked it behind me. Well behind me. As in I missed everyone on my team. So, we lost points. No one really cared by then. We finished with the mime guy. By some miracle each team had 572 points. No telling how he came up with that. All in all, it was really silly, but I've done worse things with an hour in my life.
The Saturday morning performance was an experience. I got to the venue, and since there were separate events, I asked the three people ahead of me whether I was in the proper line. They looked at me kind of weird, asked where I'm from, and said, yes, I was in the right place. The man in front was joined by his wife shortly. It turned out that this performance was the brainchild of a high school drama teacher in England, and this was a group of high school kids. No one ever attends their performances other than parents or grandparents, so I was a real novelty. They were delightful people, and I ended up sitting with the parents of the star of the show. It was so funny that I laughed until I cried. It was well worth the time. When it was over, this young man came over to see his parents, and they told him that I had come all the way from Texas to see them perform. He was so excited, and then he took me to meet the teacher. It was just a totally fun time. So, my ventures into Edinburgh theater were quite eventful.

Carol, glad to see you posting!
Cheryl, a while ago you mentioned the Kiss her Goodbye, by Lisa Gardner, the new Frankie Elkins. I just finished it. I liked it, tho it seemed to drag in the middle. I loved the lizard!
Mary Lou, I had my brothers growing up, so I understand the chaos. When my late friend Sam was widowed at 30, she said the quiet house was so hard.
We had lunch at Mission Barbecue with F and C. They must be training new cashiers, because both our orders were wrong. They fixed them, and told us to keep the extra food. And we had separate cashiers!
Our humidity is still high, so the AC is still on. Looks like temps will be lower this week, so maybe I can get some windows open!

The above post is a link to Theresa's mum obituary.
I think INDY wanted tt read if she could, maybe others also, it was on Theresa's Facebook
SANDRA some of those funnies are really funny, I enjoy reading them, THANK YOU, I hope you have recovered and had a good QUIET and restful day, I am also happy with my own company, I have to be really, he is at bowls so much, and only interested in bowls, so I need to have my own interests.
INDY sounds like a great find! I think having it on the bed is better than the wall, you can use it also, can you get the wood out easily, sometimes people sew the ends down.
HOLLY I am really hoping we don't have that humidity - yuk, I really dislike that
MARYLOU you have exactly described my nephew, he has been a tease always, and it's only me he talks to like that, he dislikes his other aunts, and is polite, I'd rather have the teasing and love LOL
CAROL sounds like a lot of fun, there is so much to see and do in August, we only had a few days, not nearly enough. It's so safe, even with the crowds - even seems like there its very little pick pockets around although they probably are, did you see Greyfriars Bobby and his grave? I loved the small street leading to the Mile, with all the colourful tiny shops, could have spent all day there. I have seen snippets from this years Tattoo, I saw the march out, I love the massed pipes and drums, gives me goosebumps!
How those girls dancing aren't freezing is beyond me, it gets pretty cold!
I spent today doing the usual, cleaning, yoga and I also did a bit more organising for camp, I now have a few things ready to pack, I need to find some extension cords and power boards, we need them to set up the tables for everyone, Julie brings the tape to tape them to the floor and bring up between the tables. I have to label them too, a few of us bring them, so we need to claim them at the end. I found a few recipes for tray bakes and slices, plus I might bring some cut carrots, peppers and cucumbers too, I saw a recipe for avocado dip with canned chick peas, looks simple and will be good with the veggies for pre-dinner drinks - Happy Hour we call it!
Gave my cake/pudding to Sara, the coaches were having a meeting when I dropped it off, I told them to cut some and share, that David wouldn't mind - they all laughed and said David WOULD mind. He won't share it!
We had beautiful sunny day today, 2nd day I could have the door open to let in the fresh air - supposed to be very cold again by the weekend, means I have to pack warm clothes. It will be cold where I am at the base of the mountains, at least we can dress for comfort not fashion this weekend, slippers will be worn all weekend - except when we go get our pizzas. And our bedrooms have small heaters that warm the room very quickly. The sewing room also has airconditioning, so we will be toasty and well fed!

our last day in the 80’s for a while, it the humidity is 70%, so AC stays on.
More PT home exercises=
Using a counter to hold if needed, walk sideways as many steps as counter allows. Do 10.
Using a counter or chair, place one foot ahead of the other, so they touch. Try to balance using as few fingers as possible to hold on, do 20 seconds. Repeat five times.
using counter or chair to hold onto if needed, extend one leg out to the side, keeping leg straight and toes pointed. Do 10 with each leg.
Using chair or counter, extend leg directly back, then bring back. Do 10 with each leg.
using counter or chair (I stand with one hand touching counter, the other touching a chair) march, raising knee as high as you can. Do 10 with each leg.
I do each set twice. I do it once in the morning, once late afternoon. PT used to have me do these at the session, now it’s homework so we can do other things at the session.

The weather is so nice and will be this way for the next 10 days. Tomorrow only 77 for the high, 80 today. Not missing the high 90's.
Caleb (great GS) has been invited to four baseball tournaments. One is in Viera, Florida and one in Puerto Rico! They are going to all of them. He's only 8 years old. I'm proud of him, but I won't be going to PR, lol.
Carol, I'm surprised the COF retreat is still going. What was the first year? Have you missed any of them? That's a long drive, but you probably have a lot to pack!

Good Morning to everyone!! I'm not feeling very bright this morning. It's a lovely day, though. Not a breath of air is moving. Tracy just called, she left her diamonds here last night, so I put them away. Lord, my house is a mess. Needs some cleaning up!! Well, I won't get it done today!! Hopefully, it will get done one of these days!! Hope you all have a lovely day, BJ.

Do any of you make baked potatoes in your crock pot? I just put some in mine using U Tube's Stacey's Simple Meals method. Always looking for easy-peasy things...
Thanks Trish for the link. I feel like we sorta knew Theresa's Mom and it was nice to read about and "see" her. Sounds like we're all seeing the first of the seasonal changes no matter where we live.
Carol, your descriptions are very interesting. Thanks for sharing with us. Edinburgh is so old and rather mysterious (to me). I spent some time reading about it when ML, Bill and Andrew went there in 2023 as part of their Great Britain vacation and then we got to see their pics on the big TV after they got home. I remember my first time going to Canada as a young girl and the slightly different feeling it had than the United States. So glad you were able to do this.
Better go...finally going to make my eggplant soup. I've been talking about it for 3 days.
Have a good afternoon.

As kids we went to Canada a lot. Even as adults DH and I went, my cousin was married to a Canuck and lived and worked there.
I don’t have a crockpot. I just bake potatoes in the oven. Easy.
I’ve only been to Europe once. In 1972 for our honeymoon, we went to Spain. That’s when I realized that 4 years of his Spanish and 1 semester in college was a total waste. lol
I went to 3 COF retreats.
I wish it would get hot again.

Good evening all.
Sandra, sounds like your dinner was a smash! I agree with the others, make sure you have a sign up sheet. Otherwise you will have 20 bags of chips or cookies! lol!
I have never been out of the country, except for a very short trip when we visited Niagara Falls and crossed over just to say we were in Canada. Years ago before passports were required. We do not have passports.
Yesterday was the 6 year anniversary of Kelli's death. Her daughter, Jessi, surprised me with a short visit. Her step-grandpa died and she came up for the funeral. This was Kelli's mom's second husband, but Kelli said she liked him more than her she did her mom. She and her mom had issues for sure. Funny thing was, we were not expecting her and Dean answered the door. He was floored and said "It's her!" Jessi looks just like Kelli did 25-30 years ago. She even dies her hair that odd red color that Kelli had. His face as so funny! Like Kelli came back to visit.
Holly glad that you like those shoes. Dean tried a pair but never bought a second one.
A few months back Amelia was taken by ambulance to the hospital from school. (She was fine, just shaken up from falling off the monkey bars.) Today Aaron got a letter from an attorney saying he owed $16,000 for the hospital visit. Said she was not covered by his insurance. Sigh...that young man has to fight for everything it seems. I am sure he will get it figured out, but he is so stressed. He has been paying for her insurance thru his work, so hopefully it will get fixed. A new company took over his work place last year and he had to pay lots of money for taxes because non was taken out! Yes, he should have been checking but he did not check his direct deposit. Knew it was more money but he had gotten a promotion and a raise so he thought it was due to that. Lesson learned; check you pay stubs. Make sure you are covered by insurance.
Cold today! Only 65 degrees and such a change.

Maybe Aaron should check to see if the school has any insurance that would cover Amelia’s hospital bill.
