Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

Have a great Sunday!

It is currently Saturday around 10:30pm, and we are just getting home from a lovely memorial service for my bil's parents, both of them, who passed away within two weeks of each other.  This bil was very good friends with DH in high school, so he was very close to the couple. Sad, but beautiful memorial![b]

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

Lovely to have good memories and a beautiful service DIANE - BIG thanks for locking, I've been missing LOL

HOLLY before I forget, Happy Birthday to your beautiful girl, how fast they are all growing LOL we can't be that old!!!

BJ hope you feel better, and you enjoyed the breakfast!

SANDRA what a lovely gift for you, hope the Bingo went well, and you came away a winner. Good news on the weight loss - well done!

DEVONNE I tend to agree with everyone else, I couldn't get another dog, we just don't have the time or energy, we do have Megan's dogs to play with and enjoy their company, having to medicate and look after another one is too much for us now. Hope you are enjoying the car, and have gotten used to it now.

THERESA good to hear you have mum in a facility you approve of, and cutting down to every other day is good for both of you. Hope she is doing well there.

JANET hope you are feeling better, have you fully recovered yet?

INDY I am planning on enjoying a full 4 days this week - the Mr will be away from Thursday to Monday, my gosh, whatever will I do with myself LOL I have so many things planned I'll never get them all done, one is to remove all my DVDs that can be streamed - I can clear a full book case and move things around, I'm sure I'll runout of puff before I finish though.

I have had quite a busy week, finished 3 full days of sewing, so tired, and also had a couple nights with lack of sleep, Megan & Gary went away in the new van, Dean was home alone (with dogs) and John was at a party, I had said for him to call me at any time to pick hm up, of course he didn't need me, he stayed over at his friends, but I woke ever hour or so thinking I heard the phone LOL

Megan said the new van has a fantastic bed, better than their own bed LOL and even better news they got news today that someone wants to buy the other van, it will be good to have that gone, my gosh, new caravans (big ones anyway ) are so expensive, I was gob smacked at the price of the new one, over $100,000 - it's very big, beautifully equipped and the sale of the older one makes it a bit better. Lucky they both have very well paid jobs, and Gary is really good with their finances.

I was happy to get a lot of blocks done for the Alice quilt this week, more than 1/2 done now.

One of the girls today gave us all a recipe for leek/corn/bacon chowder. So easy to make and was delicious for dinner with crusty bread. Lots left for another meal.

I need to get myself organised, I have been in the spare rom, but moving back tonight to our room, he's not coughing now LOL So I might be able to sleep there. Be nice to sleep in my own bed.

Lots of washing to do tomorrow, he has all the bowls uniforms he has worn this weekend to be done, ready to pack and take away. Plus all the linens I usually do. The machine will get a workout tomorrow LOL

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

SIGNS OF THE TIMES.....
1.  IN A NEW YORK DRUGSTORE:  WE DISPENSE WITH ACCURACY.
2.  ON A NEW YORK LOFT BUILDING:  MARTIN DIABETES PROFESSIOAL ASS.

NICE AND BRIGHT RIGHT NOW BUT RAIN IS EXPECTED.  IN THE HIGH 70S FOR NOW.

YESTERDAY I GOT ON A ROLL AND DID SOME REARRANGING IN MY SEWING ROOM.  GOT RID OF SOME CARDBOARD BOXES THAT WILL GO TO THE RECYLE BIN.  ALSO SOME STUFF FOR MY DAUGHTER IF SHE CAN USE THEM.  FABRIC I WAS GIVEN BY NEIGHBOR SHARON IS LINED UP IN A LARGE BIN.  I HAVE NO ROOM ON MY FABRIC SHELVES FOR IT.  THERE'S QUITE A BIT.
THE PIZZA BROUGHT TO ME BY MY NEIGHBOR NAN WAS PRETTY GOOD AND JUST THE RIGHT SIZE.  NOT TOO LARGE.  IT HIT THE SPOT.  THAT MEANS POTATO PANCAKES ON THE MENU FOR SUPPER TODAY ALONG WITH A STEAK AND ONION HALF SUB FOR LUNCH.

ITS MY DAY OF REST TODAY BUT I NEED TO GET TO VACUUMING.  DID NOT DO IT YESTERDAY AND IT NEEDS IT.  CRUMBS FROM MY CHIPS ON THE CARPET.  AND YES, I HAD SOME CHIPS LAST NITE BUT ONLY HAD 6 IN TOTAL WITH SOME CHEDDAR CHEESE FOR MY SNACK.  I AM DOING GOOD.  STILL, CRUMBS ACCUMULATE.

I HAVE STARTED A NEW BOOK WHICH I AM ENJOYING.  ITS A MYSTERY BY SPENCER QUINN,  THEREBY HANGS A TAIL.  ITS TOLD FROM A DOG, CHET'S, POINT OF VIEW AND ITS THE 2ND BOOK THAT I'M READING.  VERY INTERESTING VIEWPOINT.  I MAY GO INTO THE COMMON ROOM IN THE COMFY CHAIR BY THE WINDOWS TO DO SOME READING TODAY.  MAYBE EVEN WORK A BIT ON MY JIGSAW PUZZLE REAL CLOSE TO THAT CORNER.

WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.

Trish, the van sounds like a second home. Does it have a kitchen area? I assume it's meant for camping/RV type van? Enjoy your free days!

I've been vacuuming and shampooing; hit and miss as needed for the shampooing, lol. I can't do it all at one time anymore, so it's one room at a time and as I feel like it.

I sold my beautiful cream chair and ottoman. When I bought the recliner last Fall, I moved it to my bedroom. It was really too wide so decided to sell it. Sold it to the first person that messaged me. She is on the way to get it now.  It was a little sentimental, as it's one of the last pieces of furniture we bought together.

TV for me the rest of the day. I still need to vacuum the living room and will do that later.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

SANDRA well done on sticking to your plan, snacking is my downfall too, even if it is "good" food, it's still food I don't need LOL I'll have to try out that author, I am re-reading Pride & Prejudice, one of my favourites LOL

We had our leek/corn chowder again tonight, I cooked a steak for the guys, but I just had the soup, it's yummy, Megan is making it tonight too

DEVONNE yes, the caravan (it gets towed by his Nissan Patrol) is like a home, lovely kitchen, bathroom is very pretty as well as functional, and it has a tall fridge/freezer, as well as an under bench full size oven and built in microwave - it can connect to camping site power  as well as use its own solar and battery to camp 'off road' . The dining area will convert to a bed if needed as well, but they don't plan on doing that much. It has an outdoor cooktop as well, it pulls out from the side.

It's been quiet here today, keeping good thoughts for all, and hoping you have had a lovely Sunday.

It was a gorgeous day here till around 2pm, then it got cloudy and the temp dropped, at least I got most of the washing dry outside, finished off some in the dryer but not much.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

Didn’t get much done yesterday. Spent a fair amount of time in the pool.  Dinner was leftovers from dinner out the day before for me and pasta for him.
The Geek Squad guy is due back today to finish the TV set up.  I need to clean up this morning as I haven’t done much lately.
Trish- some days are better than others but I can’t shake this.  I guess it’s pay back for years of near perfect health.  😡
I made reservations for Florida for Feb/March.  I ordered some of Valdani new Sparkly thread for my appliqué and sashiko.  It should be here today.  Hope I’m not disappointed.
I heard thunder so better go close the windows.  I missed one the other day during a storm and had to wipe up the floor.  Good thing we don’t have carpeting.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

The lady didn't show up to pick up the chair/ottoman. I had already moved it out of my bedroom to the foyer. I'm going to text her and ask if she still plans to come. If not, I'll move it to the doggie room. She said she's still waiting on her niece (who has a truck) to call her.

I had a strange night of new symptoms from the Tamoxifen. It was skin itching and I looked it up. It is one of the symptoms of this med. I took it too late yesterday, maybe that was why it bothered me more. I also had my first night sweat with the meds. Hair wet and arms wet.

Janet, have you been to the doctor to get a good checkup? I think it's past time you go. You haven't felt good in a long time. Is your BP ok, blood sugar and your oxygen level?

Trish, I bet it's beautiful! They are going to stay away from their regular home now, lol!  Greg wants to buy a small conversion van when he retires and travel the U.S.

G&E went to Key Largo and Key West with their good friends for 13 days. From what G said, he didn't seem to have a good time. He said both places were horrible.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

CLASSIFIED AD GONE WRONG....
TUNE IN NEXT WEEK FOR ANOTHER SERIES OF CLASSICAL MUSIC PROGRAMS WITH THE CANADIAN BROADCORPING CASTRATION.

LOVELY DAY HERE.  SUNNY AND BRITE.  60S AND 70S TODAY.  LOVE IT.

WE LOST OUR POWER FOR A COUPLE HOURS YESTERDAY.  HEARD A TERRIFICLY LOUD THUNDER CLAP AND BOOM, NO CABLE, THEN NO POWER 3 MINUTES LATER.  IT ONLY RAINED FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES WITH ONLY A COUPLE MORE BLAST OF THUNDER.   I TOOK MY BOOK AND SETTLED IN A COMFY UPHOLSTERED CHAIR BY THE WINDOWS IN THE COMMON ROOM FOR BETTER LIGHT AND GOT CAUGHT UP ON SOME READING DURING THAT TIME.  WHEN IT CAME BACK ON, TOO LATE TO START MY POTATO PANCAKES.  I WILL MAKE SOME TODAY AS SOON AS I GET OFF MY COMPUTER.  FOR SUPPER I THINK A CHICKEN AND RICE SKILLET DINNER SO I CAN SHARE SOME.
I HAVE LOST 6 LBS SINCE THE 9TH SO I AM DOING WELL EVEN THO I CHEATED A COUPLE TIMES WITH STUFFING MY FACE WITH POTATO CHIPS.  THEY ARE MY DOWNFALL.  I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO STICK THEM IN A CUPBOARD.  IF HARDER TO GET TO, I MAY CURB MY DESIRE FOR THEM.
NO SPECIAL PLANS FOR TODAY.  KEEP SAFE.   HUGS FOR ALL, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

Nice day here.  Doors and windows open.  And Howard is upstairs.    I hear him on the phone.  He's getting new hearing aids and they're being set up.

Janet, I'm sorry your feeling poorly and for so long.  I have no suggestions, just wish it would go away.

I was awakened this morning by the oddest thing--some small plane doing  loop the loops, overhead.  Because of the trees, I could never see it entirely, just the wings as it leaned way over turning.   That went on for 30 minutes, then it was gone.  Howard said maybe it was looking for something. Probably never know as our pathetic newspaper is just that PATHETIC!

Despite pouring rain, we had a lovely time at Gabriel Home's picnic on Saturday. It's like "old home week". They are so welcoming and so glad to see you and  the food is plentiful and good.  They again had a roast suckling pig being hacked up by a Filipino woman with a meat cleaver.  She knew what she was doing!  As always, ML & B and we drove separately and Howard came on home when he'd had enough.  So they brought me home in the, once again, pouring rain!

Devonne, your furniture can become "part of the family" as most of us keep it forever, until we need to get something else.  That lady should have let  you know, at least.  Sorry to hear you're experiencing some side effects.  Be sure your doctor knows, if they persist.  But, then, you know that!

QB, maybe you need a new reading lamp??  Some of the new plain, uglier ones are really good for reading and we need really good light as we get older.  Something you know, too...

Cheryl, I wish we had a family dog to get our dog fix with.  Danny & Pam have two, a golden retriever and a long-haired chihuahua  but we never go there, are never invited.  Not complaining, it's just what it is.
Every dog they've ever had, next door, currently and in the past,  is pretty much unapproachable or downright dangerous.  So we never engage with them.  So  we're complete dogless!    And it seems like every other commercial on TV is for pet something or other, with the sweetest or cutest dog.

Trish enjoy your solitude.  And I know you'll be glad to see him when he comes home.  It's just the way we are.  I guess Warick is feeling better since he is going...hope so.

This should be a fairly quiet week, here.  The County Fair is on this week,  but we don't go, anymore.  It's always so beastly hot and while there's a long runway of blacktop to walk on (with the walker) and park benches for sitting, I would have a hard time in the animal barns and the other bldgs.  It's free until noon, $10/ea. after noon.   It's a long-standing tradition for me and I miss it but honestly half the fun was seeing  many friends and acquaintances, who are too old or no longer with us now, so...  Howard's not wild about it, but he'll go if urged.   We do meet with our small group on Friday.  I going to take a salad.

I'd better go and figure out supper.  ML and I admitted to each other, that we neither one like to put things from the freezer to the frig to thaw ahead of time, so therefore...we often never know what's for supper.  I told her about you, QB who has something in the wings, thawing, all the time.  We figure there's something wrong with us!!!   There is! "The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree!"

Have a good remainder of the day.
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

Heather and Ed have a 35 foot trailer they tow with Ed’s pickup. It has a full bedroom in the front, then the common area, full bath, and in the back another bedroom with 2 sets of bunks. Now that the kids are busy with college, they’re planning to sell it and get one that’s smaller, a one bedroom.

We went to the diner for breakfast, the library, and to the MUA to pay the water and sewer. It’s another hot one!
I’m reading a fiction book called Heartwood, by Amity Gage. It has a Read with Jenna sticker on it, not sure who Jenna is. It’s about a 42 year old woman who goes missing on the Appalachian trail in Maine, and is told from the perspective of the leader of the search, and letters the lost woman writes in a journal. I’m 100 pages in, so far it’s good.

Dinner tonight might be pasta.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 20 ~ SATURDAY JULY 26

There is "something" dark brown on my new sod in the front yard. I think it may be a fungus. I'll call the company tomorrow who installed it and ask if that's what it is. It looks like my front yard does not want sod to grow there! I watered it good earlier.

The lady and her son came and got the chair and ottoman. She told me she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, as well as 4 other women at her work. They work at a medical facility and were forced to get the Covid shots or lose their jobs. They all think the shots is what caused them to get breast cancer. Hmmm? I had all the Covid shots too? Makes you wonder if there's some truth in that.

Thanks, Mary Lou!

PT today in an hour or so, then the monthly housecleaner comes at 12:30. Ralph has to tidy his TV room once a month so she can vacuum!

Finished Heartwood, gave it 4 stars. Started Live to Tell by Lisa Gardner, a D.D. Warren book.

Good Morning to everyone!!  It is a very gray day here and very still.  The front yard looks really nice, grass is cut, so that's a good thing!!  Frank is coughing so much, it's scary.  Not sure what to do for him.  I do have a package of Sucrets by me, so will take him one to see if it helps his coughing.

Well, I better do that, have a wonderful day everyone, BJ.
