Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

Oh DEVONNE I am so so sorry, wish I could give you a big hug, and cry with you - Molly is/was such a pretty girl, she has love written all over  her and she has given you lots of it,  you will miss her terribly BUT you did an amazing thing for her, and gave her peace - even though it was so hard for you to do ((((hugs))))

SANDRA sorry you didn't get your usual cleaner but I hope she got most of the heavy stuff done, it makes a difference. I know how tired I get doing the heavy tuff, and I'm glad of his help - when he's here LOL Lately he's been missing.

HOLLY thanks for the reading tips, I now have a big list LOL lI'll never get it all read. I want to borrow them just one at a time, I tend to get them all, then race to finish.

INDY that was a lovely thing to write to Devonne, one hour at a time, it's all we can do sometimes.

I have been pottering today -  I got shin splints -  from all that jogging yesterday, didn't feel it till early hours, and have been hobbling today, hopefully will be much better tomorrow.

My last night - I am looking forward to a peaceful sleep and waking up late, he will be home around 1 or 2pm I  think, depends what time they leave, it takes about 5  hours, plus he has to drop the other guys home.
He will be up early, but they may not be. He's too nice to say " we are leaving at 7 or 8 "

We've had a pretty ibis in the yard all day, usual, no idea where he flew in from, he's been pecking around the lawn for hours, I scared him away late this afternoon, he doesn't need to live here LOL They look so much like the nasty "bin chickens" as we call them, they are real scavengers, horrible things, they serve a purpose I guess.
Maybe he was a juvenile, he didn't look like the bin  chickens apart from the long legs/neck.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

Trish- sorry about the shin splints. They are awful. I used to get them when I jogged on the streets. Treadmill is so much kinder….and safer. No traffic, no bugs, no dogs. Did I ever tell you that when I jogged there was this tiny poodle that used to bite at my ankles for about 2-3 blocks? What a pain. The owner thought it was funny. 😡

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

SIGN GONE WRONG......
IN A NEW YORK MEDICAL BUILDING: MENTAL HEALTH PREVENTION CENTER.

SUNNY AND BRITE AND 75 RIGHT NOW BUT MAY GET A BIT WARMER.  THEN RAIN.

DEVONNE.....SUCH A SAD TIME FOR YOU.  MY HEART ACHES FOR YOUR LOSS.  I KNOW HOW TOUGH IT IS TO LOSE A FURBABY.
WHEN I LOST MINE I FOUND THAT KEEPING BUSY HELPED.  IT KEPT ME FROM DWELLING ON MY LOSS TOO MUCH.  WE STILL GRIEVE BUT SOMEHOW IT MAKES IT EASIER TO GET THRU THE TOUGH TIMES.  HUGS FOR YOU GIRL.

MY SON IS SHOPPING FOR ME.  I SEND MY LIST TO HIM THRU EMAIL BUT FOR SOME REASON EMAIL ISN'T WORKING TODAY.  WE GET A MESSAGE THAT ITS A 'BAD GATEWAY' EVEN WHEN I TRY TO GET ON THRU GOOGLE.  HE CAN'T GET HIS EMAILS EITHER.  ANYWAY, I JUST HAD TO SEND MY LIST BY TEXT.  NEXT TIME I WILL WRITE OUT MY LIST AND HAND IT TO HIM IN CASE THE EMAIL DOES NOT GET THRU.  WEIRD HAPPENING TODAY.

MADE MY VEGGIE BEEF SOUP AND SHARED WITH 2 LAST NITE.  GOT GOOD REVIEWS.  I USED THE FRESH GREEN AND YELLOW BEANS FROM OUR BACKYARD GARDENS.  VERY FRESH AND DELICIOUS.  I WISH I HAD TAKEN MORE THAT WERE OFFERED BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO SEEM GREEDY.

TODAY I WILL READ  AFTER MY SON LEAVES.  NOTHING TO DO FOR CLEANING TODAY SINCE ITS MY 'DAY OF REST.'

STAY SAFE.  HUGS FOR ALL, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

Today seems like Saturday to me. Greg and Carter came to console me and stayed until 9 pm. Emily met us at a new mexican restaurant two miles from my house. We all liked it! Gary was at a homerun competition with Caleb & the rest of his family. Emily had just gotten off work, so I'm glad I asked her to come.

Each player got 15 chances to hit a homerun. Caleb hit 12 homeruns out of his 15 tries. He won the competition and a gold bat trophy. Of course, I couldn't go because of Molly. I couldn't take the heat anyway.

Today is a gloomy day for me and I'm sure it's going to take a week or so for me to start feeling better. I know I did the right thing. We all know though how painful it is to let them cross the rainbow bridge. It cost me $216 and would have been less at my vet's office but they're not open on the weekends.

I baked a cake last night at 10 pm to stay busy, lol. A new recipe I wanted to try from YT. It tastes like a pound cake and was very good. I'll make it again but the next time I will add lemon extract instead of lemon juice.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

SANDRA I wonder why the email isn't working, maybe you can get Matt to check your settings when he's there, he'll be  good with your lists, it is just as easy to send to text to him, writing it out and then getting to him is no easier. Good news on sticking to your eating plan!!

DEVONNE I am glad the boys are liking out for you, it will be hard for a while, be kind to yourself ---  that cake looks yum, instead of using extract if you are using lemon juice anyway add the zest of the lemon, it adds  more flavour, the flavour is in  the oil in the skin, really good in cakes. Works with all citrus fruit, I have a zester that  I also use for nutmeg ( love fresh nutmeg)  but you can use the tiniest side of the box grater and brush it off  if it sticks - I find the zester works better, doesn't get caught up in those grates.

Nothing happening here, the Mr got home around 3, I had been tidying up, and I have been wearing my compression stockings, seems to make a difference. I have training in the morning, no running for me!!!
We had a nice roast dinner I had plenty of veg in the fridge so I made up a quick veg soup and added red lentils, they cook very quick and add a bit of bulk as well. It was good and enough for another couple meals.

Cool again today, and the weather is going to get bad by Wed, lots of rain AND lower temps too. Just what I wanted LOL Better make sure I have the washing up to date.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

TWO-HEADED HEADLINES......
1.  MAN IS FATALLY SLAIN.
2.  ENFIELD COUPLE SLAIN: POLICE SUSPECT HOMICIDE.

GOING TO BE A HOTTY TODAY.  69 RIGHT NOW BUT LOOKING FOR 89 TODAY AND IN THE LOW 90S TOMORROW.  UGH.

TRISH.......I GUESS IT WAS AN AREA LOSS OR A SUN SPOT SINCE MY SON LOST HIS INTERNET AS WELL.  AN HOUR LATER IS WAS BACK TO NORMAL.  ANYWAY, I TEXTED HIM MY LIST AND HE GOT IT ALL JUST FINE.

I WAS LOOKING FOR MY OLD GEORGE FOREMAN GRILLE IN MY CLOSET.  NOT THERE.  I GUESS I GAVE IT AWAY.  I REMEMBERED I GAVE AWAY THE BIGGER ONE, BUT THOUGHT I KEPT THE SMALL ONE.  NOPE.  BUT I FOUND SOMETHING ELSE.  AN UNOPENED BOX OF RUBBERMAID CONTAINERS.  YIPPEE.  WHAT A FIND.  I LOVE RUBBERMAIDS.  IT ALSO INCLUDES A COUPLE OF SECTIONAL DINNER PLATES WITH 3 FOOD SECTIONS.  I WILL WEED THRU MY CHEAPER CONTAINERS AND TOSS THEM TO MAKE ROOM FOR THESE NEW ONES.
I HAVE SOME HARD-BOILED EGGS IN THE FRIDGE SO WILL USE THEM UP TODAY IN EGG-YOLK POTATO SALAD.  I HATE TO WASTE FOOD.  ON THAT NOTE, I AM GOING TO TOSS OUT THE REST OF THE CHICKEN HASH.  I MADE TOO MUCH AND I CAN ONLY EAT SO MUCH IN THE 5 DAYS I ALLOW MYSELF TO KEEP COOKED FOOD IN THE FRIDGE.
TODAY I AM BACK TO MY REGULAR TO-DO LIST.  I WILL WIPE DOWN MY STOVE AND SOAK THE VENT AS WELL AS RELINE MY BURNERS WITH ALUMINUM FOIL.  THE OTHER TASKS ARE SIMPLE WIPE DOWNS SO NO BIG DEAL FOR ME TO HANDLE.
AS TO COOKING, I HAD MY SON BUY ME THE SMALL FLOUR TORILLAS THIS TIME SO I CAN MAKE BURRITOS.  I USUALLY BUY THE LARGE ONES BUT WITH ME EATING SMALLER PORTIONS, THE SMALL ONES WILL WORK WELL.
I SEEM TO HAVE HIT A PLATEAU IN MY WEIGHT LOSS.  ITS STILL AT 7 LBS.  I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO INCREASE MY LAPS AND EXERCISE REGIME.  THAT SHOULD GIVE MY WEIGHT LOSS A BOOST TO MOVE IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

THAT'S ABOUT IT LADIES.  STAY SAFE.  READ SOME GOOD BOOKS.  ALWAYS A GOOD THING.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

Good Morning, my leg is shaking like crazy. I can't even concentrate on writing my words, so will sign off.  Sorry about the short post, but I've got to work on getting this leg stopped, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

Sandra, I love Rubbermaid containers. We have some in a tote that we keep in the car, and use them when we eat out for leftovers.

We went to the big grocery store, I needed some things Aldi doesn’t carry. My knees were screaming by the time we got done! And it’s going to be 95 today, with humidity about 500%! Even with Claritin my ear keeps feeling plugged up.

I’m in for the day!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

Devonne, deepest condolences on the loss of Molly.  I know the awful pain of losing a beloved fur baby.  ((hugs))  May she rest in peace.  I know Gracie will most likely look for her.  When we had to put down our cat, my little blind dog, Buddy, kept going over to her bed and "looking for her" even though he could not see.  He knew she was not here.

Your cake looked good.  If the lemon is not strong enough in the cake, perhaps put a little lemon glaze over the top?

It is still hot and humid.  Went for my mammogram today (all is well) and did not want to get out of the car to go into the office.   The sun is bright though, so that is good for me.

Trish, I admire you for running!  If I ran, everybody had better RUN cause something is chasing me!     People would ask me at Dean's races, if I ran.  I always said no, I just stand here and clap.

I use a lot of Rubbermaid containers too, but lately, I have tried to use glass more often.  I have a difficult time getting stains out of the plastic/rubber ones.

BJ, sending prayers for Frank.  Hoping he feels better soon.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

BJ, I hope your leg has stopped shaking by now. Hugs from all of us!

Gracie has been very lethargic. I called my vet to tell them about Molly and asked what to give Gracie for diarrhea. They recommended Purina Pro Plan Fortiflora. Their price was $36 for 30 packs (powder). Amazon's price was $24.99 ($6 off coupon). It's arriving today. It's a probiotic and is good for dogs with diarrhea. I got the powder to mix with her food because Gracie has small teeth. I fixed her boiled chicken, white rice and added a little pumpkin puree. I'm feeding her smaller meals.

Sadie Grace called and asked if they could come over. I had to say not today. Felt bad about that. I do want to get them over this week before school starts back. Gracie needs her peace until she feels better.

Thanks for the suggestion on the lemon zest and the lemon glaze. Both were good suggestions. I'm going to add blueberries to the next one.

I'm going to get one more watermelon before the summer is over. I have gotten two and didn't finish either one of them.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

Afternoon y'all!

Figured out what is going on with my mother.  The facility said they got an order for routine Haldol!?!  The hospice company has no record of that order.  The nurse I talked to this morning said she is going to get to the bottom of this.  Haldol will create what I was seeing in my mom.  The order was given to stop the Haldol!  She said it's in the Emergency meds that they were given, but she is not ready for that stage.  Not sure where and why this happened.  So glad I spoke up and questioned what is going on.  The facility had not been getting her out of bed stating that they had an order from hospice to leave her in bed.  Hospice once again has no record of this order.  So they are now going to start getting her up in her wheelchair!  She will feel so much better.

I have gotten her antenna hooked up and found an over the air station that is all movies.  Perfect for mom.  Took some doing.  We don't have the original remote, my DSis threw them all away, because mom was messing with buttons and screwing up the TV.  That came back to bite us, so we had to order a remote for that brand of TV and it worked like a charm!

Kids are continuing to do well.  Luke still has the downstairs neighbors blasting music before 6 am.  Wakes him up.  I told him to put on his work boots and stomp around at 11 pm!  LOL!  Told him it just felt good to say that, even though it is not the right thing to do!

Simba is improving.  Poor baby has a heat rash on his paws and legs.  I had bought him a cooling blanket for the car, for after our walks.  I pulled it out and put it in his crate, and during the day on the couch!  He has figured it out and lays on it during the day.  Not biting the paws and legs as much.  We also got him a water bottle that attaches to the leash.  I put cool water in it for our walks.  Seems to be helping him.  We forget that just because Bandit would not drink on the walks doesn't mean that Simba does the same!

I am doing OK this whole thing with mom was draining! But I am relieved it was just a med that was doing this to her, not end of life.  My NSDB actually came to see her!

DS I am so sorry, I know that was not an easy decision.  Like everyone said just a bit at a time!

Nothing else exciting in my life, like the above is not "exciting" enough!  LOL!

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

Yikes, Theresa, seems like there should be a thorough investigation of the facility. How are they giving and doing things with no written orders? Sure seems fishy.

My sweet SIL Donna’s mom died. She’d been in poor health and was 82. So we’ll be going to a funeral on Saturday.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

OMG THERESA that is not for someone like your mum, from what I've read it shouldn't be given to elderly - it's more for schizophrenics or tourettes. What on earth are they doing giving he that ((((hugs)))) I would get copies of her paperwork if you can, I know that the Mr and his brother have copies of all the charted meds for their sis, and what time meds etc.

HOLLY so sorry for the loss of your SILs mum, I guess it's a blessing for them all, but still so very hard to have your mum die.

BJ I hope you feel better today, your girls look after you and Frank so well, you are so very lucky to have them

DEVONNE good idea to let Gracie be by herself for a bit, she will be missing her friend, Baxter Beagle (M & G's 2nd dog) absolutely howled when Bundy died, he met Gary at the front door and when Bundy wasn't with him he just howled and howled, it was awful, they couldn't console him. Gary just held him all night long. I am so glad that hasn't happened to you, it was so hard the boys couldn't even console him.

SANDRA I can eat leftovers for a long time too, makes it easier when you are on your own, the Mr can't do it, I can eat the same meal happily all week LOL Hope you got all your groceries!

CHERYL I didn't run all the time, but I did very fast walk, which kept up with the slower joggers, my shins are much better today. I don't have to do mammograms anymore - yippee, unless of course I notice anything.
I have to look up Rubbermaid - sounds like Sistema or like that here, I don't keep any in the car, I should though.

I often take my Lok'n'lock to our Italian restaurant, there are always tons of leftovers.
It's been lovely today, reasonable temps during the day, BUT and it's a big one, highs of around 40 the next 2 days, with tons of rain and southerly winds, so NOT fun LOL

I am hoping the rain eases to pick up Dean, but the Mr is supposed to do that tomorrow.
I finished a block for Alice today, what I mess, I put one of the fabrics in the wrong place, unpicked what I could and I really should have just redone that section, it's foundation pieced, so I had trimmed it already to sew the pieces together, of course the piece had been trimmed the wrong way, and I had to figure out the seam allowance. I leave all the outside edges of foundation pricing to be too big, then I can trim to the correct size, works well - usually LOL

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

Good Morning to everyone!!  I'm not feeling too great this morning, but will survive!!  Frank is still in bed, not sure what's going on with him.  It's a beautiful day here.  The sun is out and it;s very still outside!!   Not sure why the letters are so small, but guess you can read them.  Well, I honestly don't have a thing to say this morning, so will sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

MANGLED MODIFIERS.....
I WISH TO EXPRESS MY THANKS TO THE POST OFFICE FOR THE GREAT, KIND SERVICE THEY GIVE AND FOR THE PATIENCE THEY HAVE WITH LITTLE OLD LADIES IN MAILING PACKAGES.

WOW, ITS 91 HERE RIGHT NOW SO A HOTTY.  EXPECT MAYBE A HIGH OF 93 TODAY AND THE SAME TOMORROW.  BUT ONLY THE 2 DAYS.  WILL DROP IN TEMPS BY THURSDAY.

DEVONNE.....I'M THINKING GRACIE IS FEELING THE EFFECTS OF MISSING MOLLY.  STRESS CAN GIVE ONE THE LOOSE INNERS.   I HOPE SHE'S FEELING BETTER SOON.

I PLAN ON HAVING A CORN-ON-THE COB FOR MY LUNCH TODAY.  I HAVE CHERRIES FOR A FRESH FRUIT BUT WISH I HAD BOUGHT A HALF WATERMELON THIS WEEK.  NOT MUCH MORE TIME LEFT THAT THEY WILL BE FRESH AT THE MARKET.
I MADE THE BRRRITO MIX LAST NITE AND HAD A SMALL BURRITO FOR SUPPER.  THOSE SMALL TORTILLAS ARE JUST THE RIGHT SIZE.  I CHEATED LATER THO, WITH A PIECE OF FARMER'S CHEESE.  WELL, I BOUGHT IT AND CAN'T WASTE IT SO NEED TO EAT IT.  THAT'S MY EXCUSE.  BUT ITS THE ONLY SNACK I ALLOWED MYSELF.

ITS CRIBBAGE DAY TODAY BUT I MAY SKIP IT.  I AM INTO A GOOD BOOK AND HATE PUTTING IT DOWN.  I HAVE SOME CHORES TO DO TODAY.  ON MY LIST IS CLEANING THE MICROWAVE, TOASTER OVEN AND THE TOASTER ALONG WITH THE FRIDGE.  WITH MY HEAD TRYING TO SPIN CYCLE, IT WILL BE A SLOW PROCESS TODAY.  I HATE MY WONKY DAYS.  LIMITS MY ENERGY AND NO FUN.  AT LEAST IT MEANS MORE RELAXING TIME FOR ME.

THAT'S IT LADIES  STAY SAFE.  HUGS FOR YOU ALL.  QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

Another heat advisory day here.  Our a/c has been proving itself for days.  I've already sat out on the front porch  swing for a bit and had a call with ML.  It's mostly the only way to have a private conversation with her.

She stopped by with sweet corn for us, yesterday.  Yum!  When she comes here, she often eats what we have for her lunch.  So...for some unknown reason, while she was eating, Howard stood right behind her chair and stayed there.  I was  sitting at  our round table, too, visiting with her, as always, but he never does THAT!  I got to giggling because it was so bizarre.  Finally, I asked her if she liked us watching her while she ate and he took the hint and sat down in his recliner...but of course, didn't go upstairs and leave us alone.  He does some strange things, unlike the old Howard?????

Theresa, what would happen if you weren't a nurse and more able to question these glitches than most of us?  I suppose if you stir up too much of a stink, you risk them kicking her out.
But, this is sooo unacceptable.

QB, I try to not throw out good food, either, but sometimes it wasn't so good and neither of us wants it again.  Feel guilty about that, but...

Devonne, we have had two watermelons, and slicked up every bit of them, except for the big piece I took to Bill.  But, it would be hard to do that if there weren't two of us.   You are right to protect Gracie for a bit...and yourself, from "rowdy" kids.  But it is nice that you see as much of them as you do and they love to come.

I have an eye doctor appt. this afternoon.  Am ready for the "after cataract surgery laser" but didn't realize it has to be done within 30 days of an exam.  My last one was just a bit too long ago, so must be repeated.  Grrr   But I want to get it done while it's still summer and light outside early.  He does all of them starting at 6 AM and I don't want to drive there in the dark.
I think we'll get something for supper while we're out.  Any excuse not to cook!

Holly, I'm sure you're a comfort to Donna in the loss of her mom.  Nice, with no sisters, that you have your sisters-in law,  Donna and Charlotte  and that you are all special to each other.  My first husband's sister, deceased now, and I were very close and I know how that is.

Better go and load the dishwasher so I can come home to a clean-er kitchen!
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 27 ~ SATURDAY AUGUST 2

Wow, 94 here already! Supposed to hit 97. I had PT, then we went to the library and picked up books, then stopped at Wendy’s for the $5 bag. He got a chicken sandwich, I got a burger, which we’re keeping for dinner. We had the chicken nuggets and some of the fries for lunch. We’re in for the day now.

Donna has 2 sisters and a brother. Between them and her mom, there was always a “who’s not talking to whom” dynamic, which I don’t get. The funeral is Saturday.

So, in 2019 we were on an Alaskan cruise and Joseph died. We were on day 2, so the travel agent made arrangements for us to leave the cruise in Juneau and fly home. F and C were on a cruise in 2020, and her mom died in the middle, but she didn’t come home. Now, Mike and Donna were on the last day of an Alaskan cruise when her mom died. Heather said these things happen in 3’s, so we’re all ok now.

Steph is in south Florida for business. Ben has a business trip in Huntington Beach, CA. So Manda and the kids went, all it cost was airfare, and the hotel is right on the beach and has a pool. Amary and G are like fish, they’ll love it.

We’re in for the day now.
