Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 18 ~ SAT MAY 24

SANDRA I am glad you are feeling better, just relax for a bit, the cleaning will wait for you. I really strongly advise you to stick with your printer if you can, more problems today, it disconnected itself, AND we had trouble getting the scanner to work - yikes - if it happens again I am going to get rid of it really not worth the hassle.

JANET I don't miss the days of freezing cold eating the kids play soccer, we often got early starts, audit was so cold  standing around for a couple hours. I was mostly the team manager and we had to be there earlier to get the paperwork done.

DEVONNE  how are you feeling, are you still tired, it is awful feeling that way.

CHERYL glad to hear that your patient is not more seriously injured, I am guessing she might be dramiatic about it a bit more ?? LOL

I have been doing not much today, the rain is still on and off, but absolutely dreadful north of us, major flooding, and we are heading that way in a few weeks, so hopefully it's all over by then.
Lots of home flooded and the worst flooding since 1929 in a few areas. My sis lives on the fringe of all the rain, she said it's been awful for days now, but particularly the last week.

Keeping good thoughts for all of you, stay safe

See you later

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 18 ~ SAT MAY 24

THIS NEWS NEEDS REWRITES.......
1.  ANDIE MCDOWELL, UNTIL NOW A LEADING MODEL, MAKES HER SCREEN DEBUT AS THE AMERICAN WARD OF LORD GREYSTOKE WHO FALLS IN LOVE WITH TARZAN.
2.  ANTI-NUCLEAR PROTESTORS RELEASED LIVE COCKROACHES INSIDE THE WHITE HOUSE FRIDAY, AND THESE WERE ARRESTED WHEN THEY LEFT AND BLOCKED A SECURITY GATE.

WE ARE GETTING SUN AND CLOUDS TODAY AS THE RAIN FRONT MOVES CLOSER.

TRISH.......SORRY I MISLEAD YOU.  I NO LONGER HAVE A PRINTER BUT WAS THINKING OF GETTING ONE.  I HAVEN'T HAD ONE FOR A FEW YEARS NOW.  I GUESS I CAN LIVE WITHOUT ONE.  IF I REALLY NEED SOMETHING COPIED, I HAVE MY SON TAKE IT TO A COPY PLACE.  HE DID THAT FOR ME MAYBE ONCE IN THE LAST 2 YEARS.  IF ITS SOMETHING FOR MY LEASE, THE OFFICE HERE MAKES ME A COPY OF THE THINGS THEY NEED SO I CAN KEEP ONE.

TODAY I HAVE MEATLOAF, TATERS AND CARROTS ON THE MENU.  I HAVE TO BAKE IT EARLY SINCE I WANT IT DONE BEFORE I GO TO BINGO.  AFTER BINGO I WILL BE TOO TIRED TO COOK ANYTHING SO CAN JUST ZAP A PLATEFUL OF SUPPER THAT'S ALREADY BEEN COOKED.

I SPILLED A WHOLE GLASS OF WATER ON MYSELF WHEN I WAS GETTING READY TO EAT BREAKFAST.  GOOD THING I PUT MY PHONE AND REMOTES OUT OF REACH OF ANY LIQUID IN ANY SCENARIO.  ONLY ME AND THE BREAKFAST TRAY AND SOME PILLOWS GOT DRENCHED.
MY DR'S OFFICE CALLED THIS MORNING TO CHECK ON ME.  I LIKE THAT THEY CARE.  I AM BACK TO MY NORMAL SELF AFTER A MED ADJUSTMENT BUT I ADMIT TO CHECKING MY PULSE MORE OFTEN DURING THE DAY.
I HAD A GOOD TIME AT CRIBBAGE YESTERDAY.  WE ARE TRYING TO TEACH A NEW PLAYER.  NOW WE HAVE 2 NEWBIES AND EVEN THE ONE WHO HAS BEEN WITH US FOR 3 WEEKS IS STILL HAVING A HARD TIME COUNTING HER CARDS.  HOW HARD IS IT TO ADD CARDS TO 15?  ANYWAY, I KNOW AS WE GET OLDER IT TAKES LONGER TO LEARN SO I AM BEING PATIENT AND GOING OVER THE RULES OVER AND OVER.  I HOPE THEY SOON GET THE IDEA AND ARE REGULARS.  THEY ARE BOTH NICE LADIES.  THERE ARE 3 OF US TRYING TO TEACH THEM BUT WE ALL TEACH THE SAME WAY. EVEN I LEARNED SOMETHING NEW YESTERDAY ABOUT HAVING A HAND OF FLUSH (ALL THE SAME SUIT).
I'M OFF TO CLEAN MY SHOWER.  I LEFT IT SPRAYED WITH BLUE DAWN AND VINEGAR A HALF HOUR AGO.  NOW I HAVE TO RINSE IT OFF.
I'M BACKKKK!  ITS AMAZING HOW MY SHOWER SPARKLES.
NEXT I HAVE TO CRUMBLE MY BREAD FOR THE MEATLOAF AND THEN TAKE MY LAPS AND MAYBE STOP TO WORK ON MY JIGSAW A BIT.
HAVE A GOOD DAY LADIES.  HUGS FOR YOU ALL.  QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 18 ~ SAT MAY 24

Good evening friends!

We just got back from Gabriel's band concert.  It was pretty good.  The instructor played a tape of the seniors from when they were in 7th grade.  She wanted us to see the difference a few years makes.  WOW, it really was funny!  The kids were laughing and hanging their heads.  They had nothing to be ashamed about; they were just learning.  Amelia has her 6th grade band concert tomorrow night and we will go to that.

Sandra, I cleaned my walk in shower today too.  I need to really scrub my kitchen, especially my coffee corner.  I have a small 3 tiered shelf and it needs decluttered and cleaned.  I have too many take out coffee mugs and thermoses.   I no longer need them for work, so out they will go.

Dean and I had roasted broccoli, zucchini and some fish for dinner.  I am missing my carbs.  Dean says he loves eating this way, but I feel no difference in my energy and I miss bread.

It has been raining and extremely humid today so I did not go out for a walk.

Nothing else to report. Take care all.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 18 ~ SAT MAY 24

Here for a quick check-in.   I have an ophthalmologist checkup at 1pm.  We've had a couple of busy days out and now today, too.     And tomorrow is Friday again.

BJ, sorry you're not feeling very well the last few days.  Hope today gets better.  Take care...

Cheryl, you've had a flurry the past few days, too.  The end of school concerts can be fun for the kids and the grownups.  Then, boom! it's all over for a few months.  One of ML's friends is so burned out teaching first graders that she's not sure she's going back in Sept.  The behavior is abominable even with these little kids.  And this is a very small town school.  It used to be that the younger ones were easier to teach.

I have an hour to put some chili in the crockpot and get ready so need to go. have a nice day.
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 18 ~ SAT MAY 24

TWO-HEADED HEADLINES.....
1.  N. J. JUDGE TO RULE ON NUDE BEACH.
2.  CHILD'S STOOL GREAT FOR USE IN GARDEN.

THE CLOUDS ARE REALLY ROLLING IN NOW.  RAIN IS FORECAST.

JUDY......IT AMAZES ME HOW CHILDREN HAVE BECOME SO CHANGED.  WHEN I WAS IN THE 6TH GRADE I WAS OFTEN CALLED TO MONITOR OVER A 1ST GRADE OR 2ND GRADE CLASS WHILE TEACHERS HAD MEETINGS TOGETHER.  I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM AND I WAS ONLY A YOUNGSTER.  TODAY THEY WOULD EAT ME UP.
IT MUST BE DARN TOUGH TEACHING THESE DAYS.

I WON 3.50 AT BINGO WHICH IS ALWAYS GOOD.
I ALSO MADE MY MEATLOAF WITH TATERS AND CARROTS.  I SHOULD HAVE SHARED BUT I DIDN'T.  I NOW HAVE ENOUGH LEFTOVERS FOR 2 MORE MEALS AFTER EATING THEM AGAIN FOR LUNCH.  I THINK MAYBE A MEATLOAF SANDWICH IS ON THE MENU FOR A CHANGE OF PACE.
MY SON SHOPS THIS WEEKEND SO TATER TOT SAUSAGE CASSY AND VEGGIE BEEF SOUP IS ON THE MENU.  I HAVE THE MEATS DEFROSTING AND WILL COOK THEM TOMORROW.
WENT TO CRAFTS THIS MORNING.  I WAS STILL ADDING LACES TO MY VICTORIAN LADIES AND FINISHED THE LAST ONE.  I HAD TO USE A HAND-THREADER TO THREAD THE GOLD NEEDLE.  THEY SLICE THRU FABRIC SO SMOOTHLY, BUT ARE TOUGH TO GET THE THREAD THRU THE EYE, WITH THE EYES SO NARROW.  MY NEIGHBOR WHO GAVE ME THE NEEDLES, ALSO GAVE ME THE THREADER THIS MORNING AFTER SEEING ME GIVE UP THREADING.  SHE'S SO GOOD TO ALL OF US.  SHE BUYS THINGS TO PUT ON THE FREE TABLE OUR OF HER OWN POCKET.  I TOLD HER SHE IS DOING TOO MUCH AND SHE SAID SHE IS FINE WITH IT.  SHE HAS ALL SHE NEEDS AND HER KIDS TAKE GOOD CARE OF HER NEEDS AS WELL.
ANYWAY,  I WILL HAVE TO START PUTTING THE VICTORIAN LADIES TOGETHER WITH BORDERS, ETC.
I NEED TO FIND SOME OTHER PATTERN TO WORK ON BY HAND.  I HAVE SEVERAL SO ITS JUST MAKING THE DECISION.
I GOT OUT AND TRIMMED SOME LILACS OFF 2 OF OUR BUSHES BY THE PATIO THIS MORNING.  LUCKILY THEY DID NOT CUT THESE BACK LAST FALL LIKE THEY DID  THOSE OUT FRONT.  THOSE ARE NOT BUDDING AT ALL BUT THERE'S HOPE FOR NEXT YEAR.  MY HOUSE SMELLS DIVINE.  I LOVE THE AROMA OF LILACS IN THE SPRING.  ONE OF MY FAVORITE SCENTS.
AT MY SON'S HOME I HAD PLANTED THEM IN WHITE, PINK  AND LILAC SO WE HAD PLENTY EACH SPRING.
I MAY WORK ON MY JIGSAW PUZZLE THIS AFTERNOON.  I THOUGHT I MIGHT EVEN DO SOME MACHINE SEWING.  I JUST PLAY THINGS BY EAR AND DO WHAT I FEEL I CAN HANDLE AT THE MOMENT.  THESE DAYS A  LOT OF THE TIME I CAN ONLY HANDLE WATCHING TV AND READING BUT I DO WHAT I CAN.

WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 18 ~ SAT MAY 24

Afternoon y'all!

Mom is all moved in.  Got Hospice set up, caregivers set up, and she is back to biting and scratching people!   Some from the service refuse to return to care for her!  I am ready to just throw her off the balcony and be done with it all!  Looking at personal care homes.  Maybe, I don't know.  I have to catch up with her taxes, since we were in a hurry to send stuff to the accountant, we forgot stuff that we never got because the Post office doesn't know how to forward things.  I have stopped paying them to forward!

I should have cauliflower ear from all the phone calls I have made to get tax forms for last year!  One said she is not supposed to change the address, but will this time, but I need to fill out a form and snail mail it to them.  It is only 5 pages, a government entity!
What she told me was right, for the form number, she just left out spaces, so I had to play with the site till I found it!

I also am having problems trying to get info from the person that I connected with where mom is.  She is supposed to give me a VA contact to get the paperwork done, and another caregiver service.  I will research caregiver services myself, I don't have time to run after people, to get things they promise!

Kids are all doing fine including Simba!

Computer has been giving me fits.  Hubby turned it on this morning for me and set up my sites, but when I tried to get there, it would not let me.  Hubby played with it while I visited mom, and got it working, he was trying various key combinations, Control Alt Delete, for some reason fixed it!  No clue why or what was going on.  Time to get a new one!

Supper is in the crockpot, pork tenderloin, with taters and carrots!  We buy them when they are on sale and stock up with the various "flavors" or marinades.  They are usually good, this one smells awesome.  Simba walks in the kitchen with his nose in the air!  He is so funny!

Need to go read this form so I can write down any questions, you know government forms have their own language and it's never near anything we would have used!

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 18 ~ SAT MAY 24

Another rainy and chilly day here! Theresa, you’ll need a vacation after dealing with your mom and forms!

I didn’t get much done today, just pinned 4 of the tablerunners to the batting and backings.

I’m reading the new Jeffery Deaver, South of Nowhere, a Colter Shaw novel (Tracker). Lots of twists and turns.

We’re going out early-ish tomorrow to get labs done, then we’ll go to breakfast.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 18 ~ SAT MAY 24

Finally got my dead sod replaced in the front yard. I have to get out there and put the sprinkler on after I post here.

I don't know what made it die, but it looks so much better.

Before pic....

After pic....

Cheryl, doing without the bread is hard, but you do get used to it. I bought the Siete almond flour tortilla wraps and will use those when I'm craving bread. They're in the freezer section.

I've been cleaning out my closet and I have had no energy this week. It has taken me 4 days to finish it. I didn't realize I had so many clothes. A lot will be donated.

Need to go water the grass and let the barking fur babies in!

Good Morning, not sure why I'm up so early this morning, but I am!!  It is so still outside, not a breath of air is moving.  I may try to get back to sleep for a few minutes, that would be nice.  Well, I really don't have a thing to say, so will sign off, hope you all have a nice day, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 18 ~ SAT MAY 24

Thought I would post while I'm waiting on the water sprinkler to finish doing it's job. My water bill will be high next month, but I have to water twice a day so the sod can take root.

I have 51 blouses to donate. I counted the blouses I'm keeping and I have 99 blouses, counting the ones in the dryer and the one I had on made it 100. I separated them by summer and fall seasons and folded a bunch of them. The kids don't need hangers so I'll donate them. It has taken me all week to do this. My energy hasn't been there.

I'm headed to the UPS Store and to get some lunch. Today I will have something I'm not supposed to have, lol.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 18 ~ SAT MAY 24

YOGI BERRAISMS.......
1.  IN TWO WORDS: IM-POSSIBLE.
2.  ITS MORE THAN MAGNIFICENT-----ITS MEDIOCRE.

I WAS HOPING OUR RAIN WOULD BE DONE BY NOW SINCE I HAVE TO COOK THIS AFTERNOON AND I DON'T WANT A POWER LOSS TO HINDER THOSE MEALS.  THEY SAY HIGH WINDS ALONG WITH AN INCH OF RAIN.

THERESA.......SORRY FOR YOUR WOES.  YOU MUST BE SUPER WOMAN.

DOWNSOUTH.....THE SOD IS LOOKIN' GOOD.  AS FOR CHEATING, ITS OKAY ONCE IN A WHILE.  LIFE WOULD NOT BE WORTH IT IF WE COULDN'T ENJOY OURSELVES A BIT.

CAROL.....WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU?

BJ......GOOD TO SEE YOU EVERY DAY.  GOOD MORNING.

HOLLY......YOU ARE DOING WELL WITH YOUR SEWING PROJECTS.  ALWAYS MAKING SOME HEADWAY, IF ONLY A LITTLE.

I DID MY MORNING LAPS AND THEN WORKED ON MY JIGSAW.
I HAVE TWO DIFFERENT MEALS TO MAKE TODAY AND ENOUGH FOR MY NEIGHBORS AND SON AS WELL.  I HAVE BEEN SHARING SO LONG I HATE CUTTING BACK ON THEM JUST TO LOWER MY BUDGET.  I WILL JUST MAKE THE DISHES LESS OFTEN.
I MADE MEATLOAF HASH FOR A LIGHT LUNCH.  NOT MUCH ON MY SMALL PLATE.  ITS A GOOD WAY TO CUT BACK ON CALORIES.
MY HOUSE SMELLS DIVINE FROM THE LILACS.

PLEASE THINK A FEW GOOD THOUGHTS SO I DO NOT LOSE POWER TODAY.  I WANT TO MAKE THOSE MEALS.
BE SAFE MY FRIENDS.  HUGS FOR ALL. QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 18 ~ SAT MAY 24

I'm nearly cross-eyed!  Pun intended since I saw my eye doc yesterday.  All is well on that front.  I do need the laser on my L. eye, but at my discretion.  I'm thinking July since you have to be there at 6 a.m. and July should be summer warm and almost light out, even that early.
Cross-eyed because whatever could go wrong did, today.  I've had "something" wrong with a tooth or my mouth.  I wondered about a cracked tooth but have an upcoming cleaning appt. so thought I'd wait it out.  After eating breakfast and a bit of trouble with it, I can actually feel the crack on the inside of my molar.  Called the dentist and with the holiday weekend, they can't get me in till next Wednesday.  I asked  what if it becomes an emergency situation.  Well, they have no such service so tootie frootie  if that happens.  (It's not feeling so good...)
Next, Howard couldn't find his debit card.  We re-traced where he used it last and called the restaurant we ate at on Tues.  Thankfully, they had it but that meant a 50 mile round trip to get it.  Still we're thankful.  Next, after a stop at W-M for the items I need for Memorial Day at ML's, we got home and the only item I really cared about didn't get home with us, ONCE AGAIN!
So, I just called and, of course, they'll make it right, but... So, I'm tired and disgruntled and crabby!  I went along with Howard because I was going to need to go grocery shopping sometime before Monday and that just seemed the most prudent time to do that.

And really should I grumble after reading poor Theresa's saga?  No, of course not!

The chili never got in the crockpot yesterday, but it's merrily simmering away on the stove.
So now I'm going to get it on the table, eat and watch Jeopardy.
Take care...
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 18 ~ SAT MAY 24

Judy, doesn’t it seem like the universe is trying to make us cranky? And it’s working!
We went out early to get our labs done. New pro tip, if the doc wants a urine, the lab lady is happy to give you a container to take home and use. Less stressful! Then we stopped at Burger King for breakfast, because the diner parking lot was full. Ate in the truck, then went to the big grocery store. We’re usually there early, and not on a Friday before a holiday, so it was crowded, and the checkouts were ridiculous. Came home and napped for 2 hours! Grazed for dinner. So I feel like I wasted the day.

Tomorrow is the Legion’s monthly fundraiser breakfast, so he’ll go to that, and get me takeout. Maybe we’ll actually get a day without rain!

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 18 ~ SAT MAY 24

My goodness, after reading of the problems some of you are having, I have decided my day has been great with nothing to cause me frustration. My house got cleaned (not by me!), I went to exercise class, finally planted the coral bells that I bought a week ago (it’s been too wet to do sooner), and sat in swing for a while enjoying the fabulous spring weather, and I didn’t have to figure out what to eat because I had leftover meat loaf.

While straightening up the sewing room this morning, I decided that I will NOT start another big quilt with new fabrics until I have used up some of my scraps. So this afternoon, I have been looking at simple patterns that will be quick to put together but will still make a pretty quilt. I think I will make throw size to donate because I can machine quilt that size myself and won’t have to pay for someone to longarm them.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 18 ~ SAT MAY 24

I also am so sorry for the woes for you all, seems like it's happening to a lot (((hugs)))

I am finally on here, we have had torrential rain for days, so much of our state has been affected, the main highway north is still closed, at least 10,000 homes flooded not to mention the stores, so many places that have not seen flooding like this since 1929, and it will not be easy to clean up, the highway is now being cleared in parts, so much debris on the roads, then the mud needs to go too.

Lucky for us -  we did get the rain, but no flooding, and we don't head north for a couple weeks yet, so it should all be clear - except for the mud smell, I remember that from when I was little, not something you forget.

DEVONNE perhaps the grass was not suitable for winter, some of ours is like that, we have kikuyu. That stuff will grow anywhere. Not as soft as others, but it works, the guys mowed already this morning, it was really not dry enough, and we now have wheel marks, but the Mr couldn't wait any longer - no patience that man!!

SANDRA you need to look after you first, others will understand, I know you are generous, and will miss it, just the occasional meal to share that is less costly. I miss doing my jigsaw, but I have taken over 1/2 the dining table getting Alice into order, so far I have more than 1/2 the fabric cut into size for the blocks, I'll finish that THEN I can get my puzzle out again.

INDY having the surgery in summer is OK for light and driving, but I was advised by my optometrist to have it in the autumn, when it's not so hot and sticky as the drops have to happen 4 times a day, and eyes are also adjusting to the intense light - the surgeon didn't have any opinion but I did find it easier when it wasn't too hot and sunny. And I still need my sunglasses more than I did before, shows how bad the cataracts were LOL

HOLLY my lab people always give me a spec bottle for tests, I do have to do a "first thing" for my urine test. sometimes it's easier to do that at home, instead of out LOL I usually have a couple, THEN I have to remember where I put them, I should use the bathroom drawer always, but I have been known to 'find' another more useful place, with no memory of where that place is LOL

INDY do you give to your card to staff when paying, I go where my card goes, it doesn't leave my sight, I really hate handing it to wait staff, so I go to the register too. Trusting soul aren't I??

I was on the phone to my sis, she couldn't get to work last night, finally decided to go the LONG way, instead of 20 mins drive it was an hour, and she took enough clothes to stay there if she had too, so many staff can't get to work through the floods. So she is prepared to stay a couple days, they are not supposed to do that, but she worked 3 days straight over Christmas one year because staff call in unavailable, they gave her extra time off as well as all the overtime she had. Her group home has 24 hour staff in 8 hour shifts, with some as extras for a few hours during the day - they have their own bedroom and do all the cooking & caring for the 4 charges, they all need a lot of help.

I have been sorting out my things to take away, found my one sock knitted, but the pattern is not with it, darn it, I've put it somewhere so need to find it. The sock yarn is so thin it takes ages to grow!!
I also found my scarves that aren't finished ( or have been undone ) and I have some English Paper piecing prepped.

I am now getting into the quilt for the new baby, I actually got 1/2 the patchwork blocks done now plus all the paper pieced heart blocks, when they are all done it shouldn't take long to put together and quilt. I still need to find some backing though, maybe tomorrow I will head to the store.

MARYLOU I have been thinking about only doing Quilt As You Go from now on, it's expensive to get quilts done, maybe Alice and the current Jane will be my last ones, Julie is selling her long-arm probably next year, I can get them done at the LSQ but I do like Julie quilting them.

I made another 2 loaves of banana bread and just dropped one to the boys, already 1/4 is gone - just to taste it LOL
I had so many frozen bananas  I need to use them up.

Re: ODT SUNDAY MAY 18 ~ SAT MAY 24

Like a lot of you, this has been the week, month, year of things going wrong or in the wrong direction. Seems just as we settle one thing another thing crops up.
However, the painters did a great job.  We shopped for furniture for those rooms yesterday. And we are all set with Best Buy’s Geek squad to set up the new “home theatre” down there.  DH isn’t doing any of it so I know it will be done quickly.  He does great work but his OCD can really kick in.
It was so cold here last night that we actually had the heat on.  I guess it’s good because it popped up a warning.  The tech was scheduled to come on Tuesday anyway for the tune up.
DH fell down the steps the other day. Hands full, no light and landed on both knees.  He seems ok but I can see he’s having difficulty with the stairs.
Hopefully all of us get our issues straightened out soon.

TWO-HEADED HEADLINES.....
1.  IDAHO GROUP ORGANIZES TO HELP SERVICE WIDOWS.

NOTHING ELSE PLANNED.  MY SON IS COMING.  HE SHOPS FOR ME TODAY.  I ENJOY OUR LUNCHES TOGETHER.  I JUST DO A FEW THINGS ON SATURDAY MORNING AND THEY SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE HE ARRIVES.
