Re: ODT SUNDAY NOV 17 ~ SAT NOV 23

Afternoon y'all!

Luke is officially in Vicksburg.  He has started his job!  We looked at apartments mostly from the road, this weekend.  Apparently it's unusual there, for the leasing offices to be open on the weekends!   One was open turns out it was a high crime and known for drugs area.  It was gated, cameras, and security on site 24/7!  Not worth it!  He looked at another on Monday and did fill out an application.  He's meeting with a realtor this weekend, so will then make a decision.  We did facetime last night, to see the apartment.  Probably will do the same this weekend.  He loves it there.  The temporary park housing is awesome!

Sara is the same nothing new there!

Alex too is doing good in his new digs!

I think I am now officially an empty nester!

My mom is having issues with one eye, she kept telling me she was going blind, so I made her an eye appointment, who has referred me on to a retina specialist for her.  We see them next week.  Also a glaucoma specialist for the same eye!  Both are in the same office!

My MIL started chemo yesterday.  Seemed to have tolerated it well, went back this morning for a short follow up, I have not heard anything yet, from that appointment!  My BIL did these.

Me, I'm just exhausted.  I have driven all over this country in about 2 weeks time, maybe a bit over that!  And I have no idea when I will need to pack up and drive to Vicksburg.  Most complexes are saying December first!  That works!  Gives me a little time home!

I'm still working on cleaning out the sewing room.  Found a ton of stuff so far with no donation remorse!  Actually it feels good that this is all going to someone in need!

I am however behind on the Christmas cards.  That is my job for the day!  Then I can finish in the sewing room.  Right now most of what I need to do is put stuff away, where I can easily get to it!  Doable!

Nothing else new here.  I have been downloading patterns for future projects, as I plan on sewing to my hearts content, in the near future!

Miss y'all and I am so far behind on your news I am not sure I will ever catch up!

Re: ODT SUNDAY NOV 17 ~ SAT NOV 23

Feel like I am chasing my tail today, a 'to do' list as long as my arm LOL Have now checked off new prescriptions and I'm passed fit to drive LOL

THERESA so good to hear all your news, you HAVE to stop and take a breath. Good news for your MIL on the treatment, sorry about your mum's eyes, hope you can get it fixed.

SANDRA I'm glad the SAD only lasts a few day usually, awful when you get all those dreary days in winter. WE have been getting them through summer as well, But it's usually warm and dreary !

I'm glad for all of you who may get financial help now, good news, no idea about how your payments work, same as you guys for our system, wish I knew more, the more I try to figure it out the worse my knowledge becomes LOL

DEVONNE hope you are still getting some rest, sleep is good, and surgery is tough!

INDY my boy has really grown, he's grown so tall - yikes, we have a rather "off' saying here, they must be planted in manure they grow so tall LOL

Too funny about some of the questions I had to answer today - what country are you living in?  Seriously!!   had to count backwards from 100 by 6 this time, and draw some shapes, remember 3 words and  write a simple sentence, checked it wasn't being sent uplink LOL "This test is really a waste of my time." It's not really of course, the nurse told me she failed someone, they went to another Dr's practice  and got a clearance, had an accident, returned to this Drs practice and was told - we failed you you should not have been driving.

Just laid out my blocks, hopefully sew them together tomorrow, I need to clear out a cupboard, and I want to move things around in this room, trying to do it all on paper first to see if it works, think I'm stuck with how it is, the doorway is in the wrong place for any other placement.

ALMOST FORGOT, saw a message that Tracy is doing well, and no chemo for now, so that is good news!

Re: ODT SUNDAY NOV 17 ~ SAT NOV 23

Holly, I thought I saw something on that Congressional action.  I also am affected.  For my school pension, my husbands SS has been decreased quite a large percentage.  Sure hope the Senate does the right thing and approves this and we start getting it ASAP.  LOL would be lovely if it were retroactive to beginning of my retirement.  LOL that will never happen.  Just hope it passes.  Hope this is not too political.

Re: ODT SUNDAY NOV 17 ~ SAT NOV 23

We got a lot of heavy rain last night. It sounded so good. Wish I had a metal roof. My parents had one and I loved it growing up in the mountains.

I hope this bill passes for those who need and deserve it.

I'm going to drive today for the first time. I've been able to drive, just haven't been out. I'm meeting Gary at our favorite Mexican place for lunch.

Trish, that is wonderful news about Tracy!

I should know next week if I'll need chemotherapy or not, and if the cancer margins are now clear. My appointment is Monday.

Theresa, congratulations on becoming an empty nester!

Re: ODT SUNDAY NOV 17 ~ SAT NOV 23

A priest, a minister, and a rabbi want to see who’s best at his job. So they each go into the woods, find a bear, and attempt to convert it. Later they get together. The priest begins: “When I found the bear, I read to him from the Catechism and sprinkled him with holy water. Next week is his first communion.” “I found a bear by the stream,” says the minister, “and preached God’s holy word. The bear was so mesmerized that he let me baptize him.” They both look down at the rabbi, who is lying on a gurney in a body cast. “Looking back,” he says, “maybe I shouldn't have started with the circumcision.”

NICE AND SUNNY HERE WITH RAIN COMING IN BY TOMORROW.  LOVE IT.

DEVONNE......WISHING YOU GREAT GOOD NEWS ON MONDAY.  HAVE A NICE DAY WITH YOUR SON AND EAT WELL.

TRISH.....THANKS FOR THE NEWS ON TRACY.  THAT'S GOOD TO KNOW.

NOTHING SPECIAL TODAY.  I REC'D MY 4 JIGSAWS FROM TARGET YESTERDAY.  EAGER TO BEGIN THE UNICORN PAIR SO NEED TO GET THE CURRENT ONE ON THE TABLE DONE AND DONE.  THEN IN DECEMBER I CAN BEGIN THE WINTER SCENE.

BINGO TONITE SO HOPING TO WIN A LITTLE.  I HAVE ENOUGH  LEFTOVERS FOR TODAY.  I HAVE CHICKEN DEFROSTED SO NEED TO MAKE SOMETHNG WITH THAT.  FOR MY SON THIS WEEK I THINK IT'LL BE MAC N CHEESE.  I HAVEN'T MADE THAT IN A WHILE.

Re: ODT SUNDAY NOV 17 ~ SAT NOV 23

Afternoon y'all!

I know 2 days in a row!

Trish, I think the world will know when I have a chance to take a breath!

Still working on the Christmas cards!  Over halfway done.  People need to stop moving, that slows me down because I don't take the time when it happens to change the address!  That's on me!  I just stick the address change envelope, paper or card in the address book, then go on with my day!  Maybe with the kids gone I can fix that.  Probably not!

I have folded mom's clothes, I still do her laundry.  Started 2 loads, went for my walk, visited mom, to Publix to look for frozen chopped broccoli, they had none.  This is the 4th one we have been to!  Hubby and I both agree that if we find it we will buy a bunch of it!  This happens every year!

Need to start the cards! And get on with my day!

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY NOV 17 ~ SAT NOV 23

Me again....twice in one day, lol!

Tomorrow it's dropping 15 degrees...71 today, 56 tomorrow. Three cold days, then it warms up again. My heat comes on sometimes and I'm still using a/c too...mostly at night to help me get to sleep.

My Mexican meal was good. I had tacos and rice, but I normally get chicken fajitas or fajita nachos. It was good to get out of the house. I was so fatigued today, but it's because I've been sitting too much after the surgery.

I'm in the middle of a movie...guess I will try to get interested in it again. Tomorrow I'm going to Walmart to walk around to help get my strength back.

Re: ODT SUNDAY NOV 17 ~ SAT NOV 23

Two little boys were known troublemakers, stealing everything they could get their hands, even from the church. One day a priest stopped one of the boys and asked, "Where is God?" The boy shrugged and the priest repeated, "Where is God?" The boy ran out of the cathedral crying to his home where he hid in a closet. Eventually his brother found him and asked, "What's wrong?" The crying boy replied, "We're in trouble now! God is missing and they think we took him!"

ITS VERY GRAY OUTSIDE.  I HOPE IT MEANS SOME RAIN SOON.  NOT A GULLY-WASHER BUT SOME GENTLE RAIN TO FEED MOTHER NATURE.

LINDA......HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO YOU AND DARRELL  I HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY.

DEVONNE......ITS GREAT YOU ARE GETTING OUT AND ABOUT AND ARE FEELING WELL DOING IT.
YOUR SON AND GRSON DO A LOT OF TRAVELLING.  IT MUST BE NICE TO DO THAT.

CAROL.....WHERE ARE THOSE PICTURES?

NOTHING SPECIAL FOR ME TODAY LADIES.  A BIT OF THIS AND THAT.  HAVE A GREAT DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY NOV 17 ~ SAT NOV 23

We're getting our first snow of the season.  Already about 3 inches on the deck rail.  It was predicted but remember just two or 3 days ago, I was watching Sena out in her garden in short sleeves...  We often don't get a real snow until sometime in December so this is unreal.

Got my hair cut yesterday then we got a huge order of groceries.  We were out of everything.
Sweet potatoes were 38 cent a lbs. so I bought twelve.  Will roast all and freeze. them.  I hear a chain saw running outside. Seems like the snow coming down would prevent that today??

QB, thanks for the funnies and the laughs.  Hope you win some tonight.  Enjoy your new puzzles.

Theresa, so good to hear from you.  Have missed you.  I work vicariously through you...in other words, your industriousness offsets my laziness, or so I fool myself with!

Devonne,  funny how quickly we lose strength when we have to sit around, isn't it?  Your lunch sounded yummy.
Going to cut this off.  Have a large bunch of dishes to hand wash.  With the water softener defunct, I want to watch how much water is used.  I've read the dishwasher uses less than hand washing, but I don't believe it, so...

Re: ODT SUNDAY NOV 17 ~ SAT NOV 23

Afternoon y'all!

Yes, I know 3 days in a row!

Linda: Happy Anniversary!

Indy you are more than welcome to come help! LOL!

Cold and breezy here.  Got my walk done, see mom, post office, another Publix, then Kroger, still no chopped Broccoli!  I can use cut, but I waste so much of it making it chopped, plus my hands get super frozen!

Luke had car issues, headlight out!  He ran by a car parts store this morning and installed it on his lunch break.  Life is good now!

Almost done with cards.  They are addressed, some stuffed, out of country I took to the PO today.  I have 4 out of the country and learned send them now, before the rush!

Saturday, I go to Franklin NC to donate the machines etc.  My house will not know what to do, with all that gone!  I'm so thrilled it will be put to good use!  Better than collecting dust here!

Guess I need to go stuff envelopes.  I hope they cooperate today!  Yesterday I had a hard time with it, I was probably tired.  Made sure the out of country ones were done and stopped doing them!

Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY NOV 17 ~ SAT NOV 23

President Lincoln was approached by a woman after a political speech… "If you were my husband I would poison your tea." Lincoln replied..."if you were my wife I’ll gladly drink it."

WE GOT A DRENCHING OF RAIN EARLY THIS MORNING.  NOW THE SUN IS BACK.  AT LEAST THE GROUND IS LOVING THE WET.
THAT JOKE HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE WITH CHURCHILL I RECALL BUT I THOUGHT IT CUTE ANYWAY.

I HOPE BJ IS OK.  NO POST FROM HER FOR A FEW DAYS AND SHE'S USUALLY REGULAR AS CLOCKWORK.  I'VE EMAILED TRACY TO SEE WHAT'S GOING ON.

THERESA......GLAD TO HEAR OUR LUKE IS ON THE JOB AND HUNTING FOR AN APT.  ITS RARE TO SEE YOU POSTING SO OFTEN.  I NEARLY FAINTED WHEN I SAW THE 2ND POST WITH YOUR NAME.

I AM GOING TO START MY NEW XMAS PUZZLE TODAY.  I AM IN THE MOOD.
TODAY I'LL BE COOKING MAC N CHEESE FROM JUDY'S RECIPE.  I LIKE ADDING MY FAVORITE AMERICAN CHEESE, LAND O LAKES TO THE DISH ALONG WITH SHARP CHEDDAR.  THEN TOMORROW ITS THE CHICKEN AND RICE SOUP MY SON LIKES.  HE'S SHOPPING FOR ME TOMORROW.  THE SOUP ONLY TAKES LESS THAN AN HOUR AND HE TAKES LONGER THAN THAT TO SHOP SO I WILL HAVE TIME TO PREPARE IT FOR HIM.
I LOST SOME BUCKS AT BINGO ON WED.  ANOTHER GAL WAS CLEANING UP.  WE SEEM TO TAKE TURNS WITH THE WINNING NITES.

THAT'S IT LADIES.  WISHING YOU A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S

I went to the local quilt shop to look at Bernina sewing machines. I’ve been a Pfaff girl for 20+ years. I will most probably get the 599 QE….anyone here have one?

Re: ODT SUNDAY NOV 17 ~ SAT NOV 23

Just a moment to say "Hello".    Mary Leigh is coming soon for her remaining birthday presents.  Her birthday was Wed., the 20th, but she chose to wait a couple of day to come by.  I had an early present delivered to her door a few weeks ago--an Angel Wrap to cuddle up in.
Figured with cold weather setting in, she could use it earlier than her birthday.  Her other presents:  a Pioneer Woman tea cup, mint green outside with a floral spray inside and a book:  Be Ready When the Luck Happens:  A memoir by Ina Garten (the Barefoot Contessa).  It's her new book and ML likes some of Ina's recipes and cook tips.

Sorry, Linda this is late:  Happy Anniversary.  Glad you've had one nice meal already.

Theresa, sorry, don't hold your breath...I just wish I was able to come and help instead of struggling to do some things right here.  But my heart is with you.

See you all later.

Re: ODT SUNDAY NOV 17 ~ SAT NOV 23

Afternoon y'all!

Indy definitely not holding my breath much!  LOL!  Just not enough hours in the day to get things done!  I am so ready to slow down!

QB don't faint! I'm posting again!

Christmas cards done.  Need to start Holiday baking.

MIL doesn't want us there this year.  Can totally understand!  Mom can't do steps anymore, so it's a no go to my house.  Guess it will be just the 4 of us!  Not sure what we're eating.  Need to get a turkey, I know I am late, but when I don't know or have a plan it's hard! I will get something thrown together.  Need to make a list of what I need and am making....  The two do go hand in hand!

Today was my walk, visit mom to Wally World to find mini pie shells.  Only one box.  That's OK I actually have some.  This has been my first chance to go look.  I will have to go a couple times a week after Thanksgiving!  Until I get what I need plus some extra, just in case!

I am also going to start bringing my donation items out of the sewing room so we can load them up tonight!  Get up in the morning then head out.  It's about a 2 hour drive to this quilt shop!  The additional room I have acquired is amazing!  This has been a great purge!

With Alex totally moved out I was able to take over his closet with my holiday clothes.  I have been able to purge those too!  I have lost 29lbs so some of them hang on me like a gunny sack!  I put one shirt on coming back from Maine and Luke even said, mom, don't wear that anymore!  So you know it didn't look right when a boy says that, guess he really is a man!

Everyone continues to do well.  No updates there!

That's all for now, Later my Friends!

Re: ODT SUNDAY NOV 17 ~ SAT NOV 23

Hello, ladies! We've been dealing with storms here in Washington, a "bomb cyclone" 🌀 that brought powerful winds, downed trees, and widespread power outages. Some won't gave power from Tuesday's storm until tomorrow, or later. We had another windstorm last night, and the coast is getting it today.

Our power and cell phone coverage were knocked out, but luckily came back midday Wednesday. Just in time to celebrate DS's bday, so he and his pup came to play in the mountain snow! Luckily, I had planned ahead and had his bday cake made, as well as traditional birthday pancakes.

I'll have to check BJ's area to see if they are still without power.

Anyway, just checking in and I hope you are all well! I'm thinking of all of you!🙏🏻

Re: ODT SUNDAY NOV 17 ~ SAT NOV 23

SANDRA I am also concerned about BJ but they had news that Frank needs surgery, maybe she is just busy with family.  Please everyone, keep them all in your thoughts and prayers, a lot going on with them all.

I am sorry you lost at Bingo, hope it wasn't too heavy a loss, I know you don't play for big money, but every loss is a little hit to the purse (((hugs)))) YUM Mac & cheese sounds good to me!!

THERESA my goodness, daily posts, when ever do you sleep LOL  I am so glad things are OK with you, good to be rid of the  machines, I got rid of 3 large garbage bags of clothes, ridiculous to keep holding on to them, glad to see them get used by someone else. they were all very good condition, a couple never worn

JANET I would think about getting a Bernini after being a Pfaff girl, I had one before my Pfaff, and would never buy again, BUT Julie loves hers and has a few, she's getting the big new one that's just released, but not till next year.

INDY Happy Birthday to ML, hope she had a lovely day, and I'm sure you enjoyed her visit, and SHE enjoyed her gifts.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to Linda & Darryl, hope you both had a lovely dinner the night before, and enjoyed your day resting (((hugs)))

DEVONNE hope you are doing well, rest is good, don't do too much, it was so nice of you to give Tracy all that info for Frank,  those little tips are so helpful when he is having surgery under the arm.

I've had an eventful few day, decided to make a batch of jam for the girls for Christmas, got the jars, got all the fruit and sugar, started cooking, FORGOT  to turn down the heat, and it bubbled over, yikes, what a mess, THEN put it back on the glass cooktop, but had left the heat on, so it did it again, 2nd lot of tea towels. with jam on, took forever (at least 2 hours) to "jell" and then when I filled the jars were small and I had them on yet another tea towel - you guessed it, more mess, I think I spent about 5 hours making the jam and cleaning up and it was HOT yesterday  - hotter today though and more heat the next few days, so I guess that is a job well finished, the jam turned out OK perhaps I could have cooked it less, it's quite thick, but it didn't look done to me. It's Christmas Strawberry and Apple jam, the fruit with cinnamon and ginger added as well as all spice, you can taste a little cinnamon, but not the other spices.

Went out today and got some pinking shears, had tossed mine years ago, some cute labels and some little tags of brown cardboard with string, and some cute Christmas fabric. Megan tried the jam she voted it really good, made them promise to be brutal with reviews as I want to give something the girls will enjoy, if I do the recipe again I will halve it, it was a huge pot.

Also spent a couple hours on the phone with Julie, she is 70 next year and wants to go on another cruise for her birthday so we figured it all out and her travel agent booked quite a few cabins and added the drinks package and wifi for the trip, so now that's booked, and I just booked the drinks package for our cruise in 2 weeks, with coffees and hot chocolates, wine  with dinner and lunch and a couple mocktails or cocktails it will be worth it for us, and they had % off for Black Friday sales.

I'm glad it's Sunday for us tomorrow, sleep in maybe!!
I forgot to wish everyone HAPPY THANKSGIVING, hope you enjoyed you day however you spent it ((((hugs))))
