We joined several from our small group and had lunch at Applebee's, yesterday. There were four of us "girls" and 7 men, all vets. We girls ate at a table clear across the restaurant from the men so we had a good visit. Afterwards, we went and got a free car wash and stopped at Chik-fil-A for Howard's free sandwich, which we brought home and I ate half for supper. Then, a quick stop at the grocery and home. It was lovely weather and there were lots of other freebies offered for vets.
BJ, thanks for keeping us up every day. We DO love to hear from you and about your family. Hope the girls enjoyed their camping.
Cheryl, I hate to ask again, but is it too much trouble to share the bread recipe with us? I, too, would like a better taste. Made all our bread when I was first married the first time. Lazy now, but if it's fairly easy, would try again.
Trish, nice bribe to get Dean to do what you wish. Glad your second eye is done. I believe you thought this one would go a bit easier. One never knows. A nice, competent doctor is comforting.
Mary Lou, nice about Thanksgiving. Will Lynn be coming for Christmas? Hope and guess she's doing well, now. Are you going to give your small gifts each day, again? It's such a nice
touch and one your family will always remember.
Devonne, I love your Sadie Grace stories. Maybe baseball lessons will wear off some of Caleb's extra "energy". The catfish place sounds delish. Howard and I used to stop at a similar place in Kokomo, IN on our way to David's. At that time we had Harry who, of course had to stay in the car. Once we parked within sight of him and he was furious. Barking and tearing around in the car while we ate. We made sure we didn't park like that again!
Yes, I have followed that terrible tragedy. In fact, my 2nd cousin that just passed away Nov. 1st. had Delphi as her address, although she lived outside of town along the Tippecanoe River. I never did discuss those murders with her, though.
Better go. Not feeling great today, so will need to take it easy. Maybe all our socializing the past few days has been too much for me? Have a good afternoon and evening.

Judy, yes, I am doing the small gifts again this year. I enjoy shopping for them more than for main gifts. I plan to take them when I go for Thanksgiving so I don’t have to mail any except Lynn’s, Bill’s and Nate’s. Lynn and Bill will probably come for us to celebrate Christmas on New Year’s like they did last year. It is easier for her to get enough time off then. She is doing well, says she pretty much feels back to normal.
David usually comes up one weekend in the fall to do yard cleanup but it probably isn’t going to work out this year. The guy who mows for me will take care of leaves and I will ask my brother or a nephew to do a few other things. But I am trying to do some myself. Today I swept cobwebs down on the front porch, around back door and on the shed. Tomorrow I plan to cut down the dead peony bush and the day lilies. Hostas are still green so too soon to cut them. I can’t do a lot at a time but it feels good to be able to do some.

=19.5pxGood Morning, I'm not feeling very well this morning, so will just say Hi!!
It is blowing and has been raining, stopped now though. Tracy is still sleeping and took Frank his coffee.
Just saying Hi! to everyone. Hope you are all well, BJ.

Maria, a devout Catholic, got married and had 15 children. After her first husband died, she remarried and had 15 more children. A few weeks after her second husband died, Maria also passed away. At Maria's funeral, the priest looked skyward and said, "At last, they're finally together." Her sister sitting in the front row said, "Excuse me, Father, but do you mean she and her first husband, or she and her second husband?" The priest replied, "I mean her legs."
ITS GREAT TO SEE SO MANY OF YOU OUT AND ABOUT AND ENJOYING YOUR FALL DAYS. OTHERS OF US ARE MAKING DO BY STAYING IN AND DOING THIS AND THAT TO KEEP BUSY.
IT SURE WAS COLD THIS MORNING, BUT SUNNY. NO RAIN IN SIGHT FOR US FOR THE NEXT WEEK. HITTING THE 20S AT NITE BUT DAYS ARE WARMING TO THE 40S SO NOT TOO BAD. THE WINDS HAVE PASSED US AND NO OUTAGES, THANK GOODNESS.
TODAY IS BINGO NITE SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT. ONE GAL ASKED IF I HAD ROLLS OF QUARTERS SINCE SHE'S SHORT BUT I ALWAYS HAVE MY SON PICK SOME UP FOR ME. SO YES, I CAN PROVIDE HER WITH SOME COIN.
I ALSO WANT TO ORDER SOMETHING FOR A XMAS GIFT IN CASE WE HAVE A WHITE ELEPHANT SWAP THIS YEAR. I'M THINKING NECK PILLOW. THEY ARE THE AMOUNT I NEED TO SPEND AND IT SEEMS EVERYONE CAN USE ONE OF THOSE. I AM NOT MAKING ANYTHING TO GIVE THIS YEAR.
I AM STILL PONDERING WHICH JIGSAW PUZZLES TO BUY NEXT. THERE SURE ARE LOTS OF THEM THAT I LIKE.
TODAY I WILL NOT COOK. I THINK AN ITALIAN SANDWICH FOR LUNCH AND THE REST OF MY LEFTOVERS FOR SUPPER. I HAD RYE TOAST WITH TEA WITH HONEY AND CRANAPPLE JUICE FOR BREAKFAST. I TRY TO EAT A BIT HEALTHY NOW AND THEN. MY CHOICES WILL DO TIL TOMORROW WHEN I NEED TO COOK SOME PORK CHOPS. I'M THINKING AN OVEN BAKE WITH POTATOES AND VEGGIES IN THE MIX.
NOTHING ELSE TO REPORT MY FRIENDS. I HOPE YOU ARE ALL DOING WELL AND HAVE A NICE DAY. HUGS, QB S

Sandra, I have a friend that loves to paint in coloring books. The nature ones are her favorite. Would you enjoy that? Something different!
Judy, those girls were only 13 and 14. They have never left my mind. I wonder if the families knew the man?
I bought two battery operated sconces for the hallway. I really like them and will have light when the power goes out. These are gold. I'm getting black ones for above the fireplace. Will get one of the boys to install them.
Offline
Devonne, I remember that awful happen with those girls! I think one of them actually had a phone and they had a blurry photo? Is this the same one? I saw the story on Dateline or one of those type shows.
I have been trying to think of Christmas gifts for the grandkids. Just what does one get for teens? (Actually 11, 13,15 and 16) Abby drives now and Gabriel is studying to get his learners permit. Andrew did ask for a lego set of a race car. Other than that, they all want money or gift cards. - Not my idea of Christmas.
I made a scrap quilt this week and it turned out pretty cute. It used 3.5 in squares and HSTs to make a large butterfly. I need to go pin it and get ready to quilt it.
Judy, I will happily share the recipe as it is one I got off youtube. The dough is made in a bread machine, which is why I like it.
Sandra, I just love doing jigsaw puzzles. I keep them and do the same ones over after a while. They sure have gotten expensive though, haven't they?
Offline
Cheryl, yes, one of the girls was smart enough to do a short video. The picture was blurry, but you could tell how tall he might be and his physique. I'm in the same boat as you. Carter is 13 and I can't think of anything to get him. Are you making the butterfly quilt for yourself?
This picture was from a trail cam on Gary's property so it's a little blurry. I love the tail! Gary isn't a deer hunter; Logan is, but he doesn't live there now. I could never kill a deer, either with a g*un or bow & arrow. They are all Bambi to me, lol.

Cheryl, I agree about gift cards for Christmas. But if I can’t think of anything else, I try to come up with a unique way to present them. For example, a make up bag with a gift card from Sephora, a pair of work gloves with a gift card from Lowe’s, some funky socks with a gift card from a clothing store. I also like to give experiences such as a gift card to an escape room or movie theater tickets.

A little kids sends a letter to Santa that says: "Dear Santa I want a brother for Christmas." Santa writes back, "Dear Timmy send me me your mommy."
DITTO ON MY CONTINUOUS WEATHER HERE. STILL, ITS NICE TO SEE SUNSHINE. I HAVE A TOUCH OF S.A.D. SO LOVE SEEING THE SUNSHINE ANYTIME. JUST CAN'T STAND THE HEAT.
I ORDERED FROM TARGET YESTERDAY. I REALLY NEEDED A CHEESE GRATER. I'M TIRED OF USING MY BOX GRATER. THIS SHOULD HELP A LOT IN PREPPING CASSEROLES. I ALSO FOUND OUT THEY HAVE HUNDREDS OF JIGSAW PUZZLES. I ORDERED 4 FOR MYSELF, A UNICORN FAMILY, XMAS BARN, VICTORIAN HOUSE AND GARDEN, AND A LAKESIDE CABIN. THEY SHOULD DO ME FOR A BIT. PUZZLES ARE SO DARN EXPENSIVE. CHEAPEST ONE I GOT WAS $10.29 ON SALE.
CHERYL.......LIKE YOU, I LEARNED TO SAVE MY PUZZLES TO DO ANOTHER TIME OR TWO. THEY ARE COSTLY. NORMALLY AROUND 15 BUCKS EACH. NOTHING TO SNEEZE AT. A NEIGHBOR SAID SHE SAW SOME AT GOODWILL AND THEY WERE AROUND 6 BUCKS EACH, USED ONES.
MARYLOU......THAT'S A REALLY GOOD IDEA, TO GIVE A GIFT CARD WITH A SMALL GIFT. I MAY USE THAT IDEA THIS YEAR FOR MY FAMILY. I CAN SHOP FOR SOME SMALL USEFUL THINGS ONLINE AND GIVE THEM CASH. I DON'T DO GIFTCARDS, JUST CASH. THANKS.
DEVONNE......NOW THAT'S AN IDEA, COLORING BOOKS. I USED TO HAVE SOME BUT GAVE THEM AWAY. THEY WERE THE ONES WITH TINY SPACES WHICH I CAN'T SEE ME DOING. BUT THERE IS SURE TO BE SOME OUT THERE THAT WILL WORK FOR ME.
I USED TO LOVE COLORING WHEN I WAS A KID. I ENJOYED IT A LOT MORE AFTER I REALIZED I COULD OUTLINE EACH THING IN BLACK AND IT WOULD STAND OUT SO MUCH MORE. THAT'S WHY I LIKE MY REPLIQUE WORK WITH THE BLACK SATIN-STITCHING OUTLINES I SUPPOSE.
I UNDERSTAND YOU ABOUT BAMBI AND DEER HUNTING. I COULD NEVER HUNT A DEER EITHER. ESPECIALLY WHEN MY BROTHER, A DEER HUNTER, TOLD ME THAY OFTEN CRY WHEN THEY ARE SHOT. I CRIED WHEN HE TOLD ME THAT.
WELL, I WON $2.50 LAST NITE AT BINGO. MY WINS OR LOSSES ARE ALWAYS LISTED AFTER EXPENSES WHICH IS THE MONEY I START WITH. I ENJOY A LITTLE WIN.
COOKING TODAY. I HAVE PORK CHOPS DEFROSTED SO I'LL MAKE A PORK CHOP BAKE WITH VEGGIES. I ALWAYS ENJOY IT.
LUNCH WILL BE RYE TOAST WITH BOILED EGGS. I HAD YOGURT FOR BREAKFAST WITH TOMATO JUICE. NOT A FAN OF YOGURT BUT IT SEEMS TO WORK FOR ME.
HAVE A GOOD DAY MY FRIENDS. HUGS, QB S

Just a quick Good Morning!! I'm not feeling very bright this morning. Tracy gave me a pullover sweater, it is black w/2 large flowers on it. One is blue and the other is tan. Very pretty!! She felt I wouldn't be warm enough w/ my black shirt on. She tells me she is cutting my hair this morning.
Well, I feel like I should be visiting with her. She is going home today. I will certainly miss her. On Saturday, Rhonda will be back from her trip to Mexico. I'm sure she had a wonderful time. I should go visit with Tracy, I'll miss her a lot when she leaves. Have a wonderful day, everyone, BJ.

Good morning ladies. I am not going home today. I had to call EMS for mom last night. She had uncontrollable shaking, almost convulsing while at the dinner table. At first I said "get a sweater!!!" then she told me she wasn't cold. It wasn't improving and although I suspected a UTI earlier in the day I wanted confirmation. We went to Urgent Care last night and got meds for a screaming UTI.
Dad has a cough that has kept him up for at least 3 nights now. We had a telemed yesterday and are waiting it out. Honey & hot water, humidifier ect.
I cancelled my Oncology appt today and in a week dad has a consult for surgery to remove more of a cancer and lymph node biopsy under his armpit.
So scary and alot!!
You are updated my dears. Love you all. Tracy

Crap...just lost my post so I'm going to submit this in pieces.
Tracy, so sorry you are going through so much right now with mom, dad and your health. How are YOU doing? I had the lymph node biopsy on 10/17. While I can't say it was very painful, it was (still is) aggravating. It's normal to be numb under your arm after this biopsy. Still quite numb and tender. The incision healed up really good. Tell Frank it feels better to raise your arm over your head. I lay my arm on the back of the sofa. I also used an ice pack which helped; his doctor will give him instructions. Sending prayers, hugs and love for all of you.
I am waiting on the results of a test called a Oncotype DX-Breast Recurrence Score. It helps determine if chemotherapy will be beneficial for your situation. They test 21 genes (from the tumors). If your score is 0-15, you don't need chemo. If mine comes back 25 or higher, they will recommend chemo.
I have to be at the hospital at 10:30; surgery at 1:25 pm. They only remove a small margin like they did the first time, so this will be a pathologist test to wait on. Keep the prayers coming for good results for this test and clear margins, guys!
I got the laundry done today and no dirty dishes. Roomba is doing her job now. It's looking so much better!

ANOTHER FINE DAY HERE BUT CHILLY.
DEVONNE......GOOD LUCK TODAY. PRAYERS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS. YOU ARE SHOWING A BRAVE FACE WHICH HELPS I'M SURE.
TRACY.......PRAYERS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS FOR YOU AND AT YOUR MOM'S HOUSE. ITS A TOUGH TIME YOU ARE ALL GOING THRU RIGHT NOW. WISHING FOR THE BEST. REMEMBER TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.
MY CHEESE GRATER CAME THIS MORNING. I WILL BE TRYING IT OUT SOON. GOING THRU MY RECIPES TO SEE WHICH CASSY TO MAKE NEXT WITH CHEDDAR IN THE DISH.
WORKED ON MY WINTER JIGSAW PUZZLE THIS MORNING. ITS COMING ALONG PRETTY WELL.
MY PLANS FOR TODAY ARE MINIMAL. A BIT OF CLEARING OUT AND CLEANING UP AND THEN THERE'S THE COOKING. DEFROSTING SOME GROUND BEEF RIGHT NOW. I THINK A PORK CHOP AND SOME FARMER'S CHEESE FOR SUPPER TONITE. WORKS FOR ME.
THAT'S IT MY FRIENDS BE SAFE AND STAY HEALTHY. HUGS, QB S

Praying for Devonne on this major day for her--for wisdom for the medical team and for her peace of mind and a fast recovery. Love you, girl.
Thanks, Cheryl. I also looked up Robyn's You Tube site and looks like she has a lot to share. I have a bread machine (in the basement) but I don't use it because it makes two very small loaves and just always seems hard to figure out how much of each ingredient to use in each. I've always rued the day I bought it but Howard thought it would be good for us instead of one larger loaf. However, I made lots of bread early on and didn't mind the kneading so I think I'll try that particular recipe by hand. I like the use of milk instead of water plus the bit of sugar you add to it.
ML has a flour mill to grind her own and has bought wheat at Shipshewana in the bulk foods store. I have many quart jars of ground flour in the freezer that she gave me since we shared the cost of the wheat. But, the first time, I'll use regular store-bought flour...
Thanks Tracy for keeping us up with your Mom. So sorry she's under the weather. Those old "symptom-free" UTI's are awful. Can cause so many odd-ball reactions that don't seem to pertain to the DX. Hugs and love to all of you...
Yippee! Howard finally chain-sawed the downed tree in our front yard, and threw the pieces in the woods. He kept threatening to leave it til spring. You know what happens when you do something like that! He's in the shower cleaning up, now.
QB, some really funny funnies! Thanks. I love a good laugh. Some are so clever. My first husband leaned toward some rather bawdy humor. Of course I can't remember yesterday, but I can remember all his off-color jokes after 50+ years. They stay in my mind because my present husband doesn't appreciate that sort of humor. Now, why did I tell you all that?
Off to do chores and other stuff.

Good Morning! I really don't have anything to say, but just wanted to check in. Tracy is here and we're going for a drive. Believe Rhonda will be back from her trip tomorrow.
I'm going to sign off for now, not much to say. Hope you all have a nice day, BJ.

Judy, you are welcome for the recipe. It really was a great sandwich bread as the crumb was soft and pliable.
Devonne, I will donate the butterfly quilt as it is child size. I think it is 45 x 55 inches. I am trying to use my scraps this year and I have but it seems like it grows!!!
Devonne, the picture of the deer was awesome. I have several that come in and out of our back lot. Some days we see a few and last night a big buck was in the side yard all by himself. It is rutting season and they are dangerous near the roads. I had one run right in front of me in the early afternoon when I did not expect to see one. It is usually early morning or evening.
It has rained lightly all day and is quite chilly. Dean and I went to Grinders and Above, a casual restaurant near us, for supper and that was the extent of me going outside today.
Sending prayers for all.
PS: Mary Lou, what a great idea for the gift cards. I think I shall "steal" it.

MARYLOU what a good idea, putting a small 'something' with the card, I am going to use it too thank you!!!
SANDRA hoping your SAD goes quickly, I know you suffer with it, I am so glad for your jokes every day, AND the time you take to type it up for us all THANK YOU, enjoy those pork chops, pork is on the menu at M & Gs tonight as well, in the air fryer, as well as skewers on the BBQ, I had made a quick dessert so took them half, they eat later than us LOL
DEVONNE so nice of you to give Tracy that info, she saw it I see, and not from me LOL I didn't get to log on till just now, hope you feeling OK after your surgery ((((hugs))))
CHERYL Thank You for the recipe, it sounds like one of the ones I saw, I usually make sourdough - I do it in the machine as well, but just the dough, only flour water and a little salt, I will bake in the morning.
INDY I'm glad you didn't have to wait till spring!! It's good you have somewhere to take the wood, do you ever use it in a fireplace, M & G have a wood burner, they love it in winter, I prefer the A/C, I find it's heats the room, where I have to sometimes get out of the living room at their place to cool off.
Dean had his formal, he looked so grown up, I'll post a pic tomorrow, then last night we went to the city to see Jesus Christ Superstar, the choreography was incredible, very different from the original one I saw years ago, such energy!! My gooodness. Megan wants to go again, she will probably get tickets for her Gary Scott & Cathy, they will enjoy it too. I told them dinner was on me, and sis and I bought the tickets for all of us. We had a bit of a problem in the days before, she thinks her email email had been hacked, and the tickets had been transferred. She emailed the Ticketmaster site, but also googled for a phone number - she found one, but it was a scammer, he wanted her to change her passwords, get onto Apple pay etc, she wouldn't, but was really panicking then. Ticketmaster finally emailed her to say if the performance was in 48 hours it would be fast tracked, THEN they emailed to say there were 9 =19.5pxfraudulent transactions going back from the email who hacked her. So we have no idea how it happened, we were a little concerned we would find people in our seats, but we didn't, so all good - after all that worry.
Our seats were fantastic, about 8 feet from the stage, and the performers coming right to our side - so close, loved it, apart from the noise AND the spotlights which occasionally shone onto my seat LOL had to close my eyes really quick, then follow the spot to see when to close again.
So a late night, and tonight will be an early one, tomorrow is lunch with our recent tour group, should be fun, most are coming. Then it's only abut 3 weeks till our short cruise. I need to do some shopping before that for Christmas, or at least get a list done,
HIS brother is asking why their sis is asking him about Christmas, she told him she didn't know what was happening, that day earlier W had told her that if she was well enough she would be coming to us, so the brothers are almost in fight mode again. YUK YUK! Honestly! David needs to butt out and SHE needs to stop asking, what happens will happen, I will be telling ALL the family that she will be unable to ever stay over with us again after this. They can like it or not.

Ladies, good morning! This surgery was better and worse than the last. They did a different tube for the intubation and my throat is so much better. The worse part was the IV insertion in my hand...the worse one I've ever had. I have more bruising and a little bleeding, but I feel great. No pain again.
Emily and Gary have breakfast ready so I'll be back later.

A lady goes to the doctor and complains that her husband is losing interest in sex. The doctor gives her a pill, but warns her that it's still experimental. He tells her to slip it into his mashed potatoes at dinner, so that night, she does just that. About a week later, she’s back at the doctor, where she says, "Doc, the pill worked great! I put it in the potatoes like you said! It wasn't five minutes later that he jumped up, raked all the food and dishes onto the floor, grabbed me, ripped all my clothes off, and ravaged me right there on the table!" The doctor says, "I’m sorry, we didn’t realize the pill was that strong! The foundation will be glad to pay for any damages." "Nah," she says, "that's okay. We're never going back to that restaurant anyway."
IT STARTED OUT CLOUDY BUT NO RAIN. SUNNY NOW.
TRISH.....I'M THINKING YOU HAD A GRAND OLD TIME AT JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. SO GLAD THERE WAS NO TROUBLE ABOUT THE TICKETS. IT WAS SCARY THERE FOR A BIT.
YES, SEND SOME PICTURES. WOULD LOVE TO SEE HOW BIG HE'S GROWN.
DEVONNE.......HOORAY, THE SURGERY IS DONE AND YOU ARE HOME AND RECUPERATING. HOW NICE THAT EMILY AND GARY MADE YOU BREAKFAST. THEY SURE ARE TREATING YOU RIGHT. THUMBS UP FOR THEM. I WISH YOU A SPEEDY RECOVERY AND GOOD NEWS WHEN THE REPORT COMES IN. ENJOY A RESTFUL DAY.
I GOT A FREE XMAS MUSIC CD AND 8 NICE XMAS CARDS WHEN MY ENVELOPE CAME FROM VFW. THEY ARE ONE OF THE PLACES TO WHOM I DONATE WHEN I CAN. THEY SEND GOOD STUFF. OTHERS HAVE SENT ME XMAS CARDS AS WELL. I WON'T HAVE TO BUY ANY THIS YEAR. THE CD IS MOSTLY HYMNS AND I HAVE MY OWN FAVORITE ALBUMS ALREADY SO I WILL LEAVE IT ON THE 'FREE' TABLE FOR MY NEIGHBORS. I SURE DON'T NEED ANOTHER ALBUM.
IT STARTED OUT CLOUDY HERE SO I WAS HOPING FOR SOME RAIN BUT NOW ITS SUNNY AGAIN. NO RAIN IN SIGHT THIS WEEK AGAIN. I SURE WISH WE WOULD GET SOME.
MY PLANS ARE MEAGER. A BIT OF CLEANING, A BIT OF HAND-WASHING, SOME JIGSAWING, AND THEN MAKING MY CASSEROLE LATER. IT'S A FIRST FOR THIS ONE SO WILL HAVE TO TRY IT OUT ON ME AND MY NEIGHBORS. SOUNDS GOOD THOUGH AND I CAN USE MY CHEESE GRATER FOR THE FIRST TIME. ALL A WIN-WIN FOR ME.
WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD DAY. HUGS, QB S
