Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

Cartoon of the day. A cat is staring at his phone and he’s all puffed up. Other cat says to him, “stop reading the news! You’re getting all puffy!”

It’s already 85 out, high to be 100! Yikes!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

HOLLY......THANKS FOR THE UPDATE ON OUR BJ AND FRANK.  NICE TO KNOW THEY ARE HOME AGAIN.

CAROL......YOU MUST HAVE NEEDED EVERYTHING FOR THE FRIDGE AND FREEZER.  BEST TO GET A LITTLE AT A TIME.  AND NOTHING IF ANOTHER STORM IS EXPECTED.   AT LEAST UNTIL YOU GET YOUR GENERATOR.  WOULD A GAS GENERATOR BE HELPFUL UNTIL THE WHOLE HOUSE ONE CAN BE PUT IN?  I THINK I WOULD GET ONE, JUST IN CASE.  BUT YOU KNOW ME, BE PREPARED.

TRISH......IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE MAKING GOOD PLANS AND AT LEAST YOU CAN BE THERE FOR YOUR FRIEND AFTERWARDS WHEN EVERYONE ELSE DISAPPEARS.  SHE WILL STILL NEED A SHOULDER TO CRY ON.

MY HIP IS FEELING BETTER.  AT LEAST I WAS ABLE TO DO MY FIRST MORNING LAPS THIS MORNING, SLOWLY BUT SURELY.  ITS STILL TOUGH TO RISE FROM SITTING.
I MADE THE MASHED POTATOES YESTERDAY SO HAVE SOME LEFTOVER AND THE CORN ON THE COB WAS DELISH.  I MADE IT IN THE MICROWAVE.  PERFECT.  AND NO SILKS.  IT WAS SWEET, TOO.

A FRIEND AND I ARE GOING TO GO ON OUR DIET PLANS STARTING TODAY.  I STEPPED ON THE SCALE AND WAS SURPRISED.  I HAD GAINED TOO MUCH.  AGAIN I PLAN TO USE A SMALL PLATE OR BOWL FOR MEALS, SERVE MYSELF SMALLER PORTIONS, AND DRINK A GLASS OF WATER AT EACH MEAL.  THAT HAS ALWAYS HELPED IN THE PAST.  IF I CAN STOP MYSELF FROM THOSE 2ND HELPINGS WHEN THE FOOD IS FRESH AND TASTES SO DARN GOOD, I WILL MAKE SOME HEADWAY.  OF COURSE, THE CASSEROLES FOR NOW NEED TO BE IN A 9 BY 9 DISH SO I DO NOT HAVE LOTS OF LEFTOVERS FOR MYSELF.
I THINK TRYING THIS WITH A FRIEND WILL MAKE ME PUSH MYSELF TO STAY ON COURSE.

ITS ANOTHER HOT DAY FOR US.  SHOULD REACH 92 BOTH TODAY AND TOMORROW AND THEN START GETTING MORE NORMAL.  NIGHTS, THO, COOL OFF DRAMATICALLY.  THAT MAKES SLEEPING SO COMFY.

PLANS TODAY ARE WHATEVER HAPPENS, HAPPENS.  I WANT TO READ A BIT.  I AM GETTING BEHIND A LITTLE.  I ALSO NEED TO PLAN MY MEALS FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK.  AS FOR SNACKS, YIKES, I NEED TO CUT BACK ON THOSE AS WELL.

HAVE A NICE DAY FRIENDS.  HUGS, QB S

July 16, 2024  8:15 am

Prayers and hugs everyone 🤗..

Have a good day..

Not much happening here..  Finally  over the diarrhea..  went shopping with dd and dson-in-law..  we dropped  dgs off at 'school' first..  we stopped at chucks grocery store and got sandwich  supplies,  this way we could have what we each wanted in our sandwiches..  I also had some plain mashed potatoes - no gravy - no butter or margarine, they didn't have any in deli section..  we also had some Gelato - Madagascar vanilla and some Belgium dark chocolate..  yummy..  we had left over supplies for home, etc..  I had some mashed potatoes for supper, only ate half for lunch..  dson-in-law had already bought fries and sandwich..

We stopped at hobby lobby and ..  sorry, had to stop for a few minutes..  got the embroidery thread that we had gone for..  they also had fabric 40% off, oops,  I got 4 pieces and some fusible interfacing for the bags I am making for shopping..  I keep changing how I make them..  I enjoy making and designing them.. I hope to sew some today..

also got some small carabiner clips for my hook n stich holders that I designed and make to use with each of my crochet projects - I need to make more..  I use small pieces of fabric, split ring, zipper  and small carabiner clip to make them..  any one crochet?  How do you secure your stitches when you  stop and how about your  hook?

Sorry for not being on and reading daily like I used to..  time just seems to get used up with other things...

Prayers and hugs everyone..

Have a good day..

Hugs, Waves, Smiles, & Prayers
God bless you all and may sunshine always be in your lives to brighten your days..

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

San, I just pull the stitch I’m on into a big loop, and the hook either goes in the bag or in the mug where I sit.

we had a few errands to do. I’m glad the country is working on the infrastructure, but do they have to do all the roads at the same time? Can’t turn left, construction. Can’t go this way, construction. Can’t turn left on this road, because of the detour.

We went to lunch while we were out, plenty for dinner too. Now I’m in for the day, and possibly the week!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

At bedtime last night, we were warned of a huge wind storm with tornados coming so took Fancy and spent the
danger time in the basement.  It was ML who called a alerted us...we had something else on TV.  Howard is usually on his phone checking radar but not this time.  Nothing happened here but it is always so scary.

Trish, so terribly sorry for the loss of your friend so suddenly.   Glad your life-long friend, his wife, understands your situation. She couldn't have a better friend than you and you'll make it up to her, no doubt...

San, good to hear from you and that you're being well-taken care of by your family.  I'm sure you're all glad the little one is back in school!    I mean that kindly, knowing how active and busy he is.

Good luck, QB, you and your friend.   Keeping weight stable seems difficult at our age.  I lost over 5 lbs. with my gastric upset and try as I may to not, have gained two lbs. back.  Have been eating Butter Popcorn flavored rice cakes, 35 calories, each as a snack.  Haven't bought those in 20 yrs., I'll bet.  Cream cheese and fresh tomato or thin slices of ham and bit of cheese, taste good.  I suppose I'll get tired of them, soon.

Have to go...Howard is waiting for me to send him something on his e-mail.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

Cheryl, do you plan on getting another camper or giving up camping? I didn't like camping. Guess I'm not the outdoorsy type.

Carol, don't blame you for getting the other trees taken down.

Holly, I am lucky too and never got Covid. Trish is right. You can get Covid anywhere, like grocery shopping, etc. I wouldn't have been on so many cruises if it wasn't for Greg doing all the travel arrangements, booking the rooms, flights, etc. As for heat, we don't do the ports nor the beaches anymore so heat isn't an issue. I would like to do one more cruise. I don't know how people do the 14 days and 30 day cruises. After 7 days, I'm ready to get off the ship, lol.

So glad to hear BJ and Frank are back home. That's great news!

Trish, don't think I mentioned the loss of your friend. I'm sure they will understand you not being there. I never made it to my BIL's funeral in Indiana. We had just gotten back from a cruise. Where are you cruising in December?

Greg and Carter are going on a 3 day cruise in September after they go to Universal for a few days. It's the newest RC ship, the Utopia. Then again in November, at Thanksgiving, they are going on the same ship for another 3 days! This ship hasn't had it's first sailing yet. He got these cruise deals for 2 for free (casino deals to get him back onboard to gamble more, lol).

Diana, good to hear from you and to hear you're doing ok.

Janet, what will you drive after you sell the RAV4? I have sat in a couple of them at Car Max, but I have trouble getting in them. Hope it sells fast!

I invited Gary over tomorrow for lunch. I'm grilling pork chops and hotdogs for the kids.

Diane, hope these new glasses will make a huge difference for you!

We got rain today and I didn't need to water the lawn...hooray.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

I do realize that I can get Covid anywhere. I’m just not ready to cruise.

Cheryl, that charity sounds wonderful!

I finished the xs! 126k stitches in 6 months and three weeks! I’ll take pix tomorrow for my blog and Facebook.

=26pxWe’re having a tstorm right now.

Judy, at what point do you decide the tornado threat is real and go to safety?

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

It was a year ago this month that Lynn was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had almost 4 months of chemo, surgery in December, 6 weeks of radiation, a year of once-every-three-weeks immunotherapy drug, and is now partway through six months of taking an oral chemo. Today she got the report on the PET scan she had last week. IT SHOWED NO SIGNS OF CANCER!!!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

MARYLOU that is wonderful news, I'm so happy for you! It's been a long wait to find out, but such good news at the end makes it worth while ((((hugs))))

CHERYL sounds so nice that you can help someone who helps poor animals! It does sound like you are gradually getting your stash down, mine seems to keep growing LOL

SANDRA I love the idea of dieting with a friend, we do that at training, we often work out in pairs, encouraging each other, and when we did the 4 week "change in me" program, we got a buddy to help keep us  from going off the plan  and eating healthy with right portions. It does mostly come down to drinking more water, and eating smaller plates and NO snacking, unless it's a few almonds, or some plain yoghurt, or an apple. And eating enough protein, and not too many carbs, I know you love your potatoes, such a blessing for me that I don't love them LOL

I am gradually checking off my list, got the coins to the bank today and had it put into our account, it was $68.30 we (mostly HE ) put loose coins into a box on his dresser, every so often we cash it in, surprising how quickly it mounts up.

Got some supplies from the pharmacy, he wants to try magnesium tablets instead of the tablet dissolved in water, the pharmacist said he might benefit, also got some nasal spray for me, we always take some "in case" we get a cold. And we each have some antibiotics.

Our weather has been nice today, the icy wind has stopped, and while its cold now, we didn't have to have the a/c on all day.

I got some paperwork ready and packed away, I just need to get our house insurance sorted out, that will be tomorrow, and the paperwork for my car has started to arrive, so that's a relief.

I heard today that the last of my dad's sisters died overnight, she was 97, still living by herself and driving to do her shopping, she was hoping that she would die soon according to her daughter, she was not well a couple days ago, they suspected heart failure, and took her to hospital, she wanted no treatment, just to be comfortable, after all that day she said she was feeling really hungry and could she have something to eat, they got food for her, a little while after that she sat up, stretched out her arms, and said I'm done, laid back and died, I am happy for her, if that  makes sense, I think I am closest to  her in personality, my cousin agreed with me, she said there have been full  plans made by Aunty Maisy and there would be a small service just for her daughters and son, and their children. She was a character, and we are all NOT sad, just happy for her, her girls will miss her, but they have all been waiting as well, no regrets and no unfinished business. She had a long and happy life, she thought too long, she was wanting to be gone.

I have been looking for some emails I printed about our Tattoo visit, just realised where I put them, one more tick off the list. LOL

Sorry DEVONNE I forgot to answer, we are just doing 5 days, down the coast to Tasmania and then back, it's a literary cruise on Queen Elizabeth, lots of good authors giving lectures, and having question/answer session with passengers. Should be fun, Julie (my quilt teacher )  and her husband are on it with us.

Devonne- I got a Ford Edge ST back in Oct.  I let it sit for a month before I used it.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

Mary Lou, such fantastic news! You must be so happy and relieved!

Trish, that’s a good long life, and a great death! I’m sorry for you loss, but she didn’t suffer.

Janet, my brother Mike has an Edge, he loves it. I looked at one, but the salesman was horrible and condescending, so we left.

Another hot one today.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

Thank you all for celebrating Lynn’s good news with me.

Holly, a big part of the reason I have an Edge is that the salesman was great. He was helpful without being pushy and didn’t play games when negotiating the price. We had dealt with him before so he knew that he had to give us a good price or Bill would walk out.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

YUP, THE SALESMAN MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE.  IF THEY ARE PUSHY I WALK AWAY.  I LIKE PLEASANT AND HELPFUL.

MARYLOU......HOW WONDERFUL FOR LYNN AND ALL OF YOU, SHE'S CANCER FREE.  ITS BEEN A LONG STRUGGLE BUT SHE'S YOUNG WITH LOTS OF LIFE LEFT TO LIVE.

TRISH.....SORRY ABOUT YOUR AUNT MAISY, BUT WHAT A WAY TO GO.  I KNOW SHE WILL BE MISSED BUT SHE WANTED THIS NOW AND NOT AFTER SHE BECAME A BURDEN.

I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER TODAY.  MY RIGHT HIP WAS BOTHERING ME SOMETHING AWFUL.  DIFFICULT AND PAINFUL TO GET UP FROM SITTING.  AND WALKING NOT ON MY PLATE.  I HAD A SINKFUL OF DISHES TO DO LAST NITE BUT ONLY DID HALF OF THEM THEN.  I NEEDED TO GET OFF MY FEET.  TODAY, SO DIFFERENT.  I HAVE NO IDEA WHY IT HURT OR IF I MOVED STRANGELY OR NOT.  IT JUST CAME OUT OF THE BLUE.  FEELS GOOD TO BE MOBILE AGAIN.

I LOST 1.2 LBS ON MY NEW EATING PLAN.  DRINKING MORE WATER, SMALLER PORTIONS.  I HOPE IT WORKS ITS MAGIC.
I GOT MY TARGET ORDER TODAY.  MOSTLY SUPPLEMENTS LIKE GINGKO, MORINGA, ETC, BUT ALSO A NEW GLASS 1-CUP MEASURE, PIZZA CUTTER, AND CUTTING BOARD.  I ALSO BOUGHT SOME WARM VANILLA MIST.  I CAN'T HANDLE STRONG SCENTS ANYMORE.  MY OLD FAITHFUL PERFUME, SHALIMAR, I USED FOR YEARS, IS TOO STRONG.  THIS MIST IS BETTER, BUT STILL SEEMS A BIT STRONG TO ME.  I GUESS MY NOSE IS JUST SENSITIVE TO AROMAS AS I GET OLDER. I WILL USE IT SPARINGLY.

ITS A LOVELY DAY BUT WILL HIT 90 AGAIN.  TOMORROW WILL BRING BACK THE LOW 80S AGAIN.  MUCH MORE PLEASANT.  WE HAD A BIG RAIN STORM LAST NITE WITH LIGHTNING IN FULL MEASURE, BUT NO POWER LOSS.  ALWAYS A GOOD THING.

NO COOKING PLANS.  I AM STILL INTO LEFTOVERS SINCE I EAT LESS.  I WILL HAVE TO MAKE SMALL CASSEROLES, LIKE 9 BY 9, SO I DON'T HAVE TOO MUCH LEFTOVER AFTER SHARING.  I THINK I WILL READ TODAY UNTIL ITS TIME FOR BINGO.  I'M HOPING FOR A WIN TONITE.
HUGS FOR YOU ALL. QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

Marylou, that is the greatest news one could ever ask for.

The kids are spending the night. Wanted to invite them over before they go back to school and give Gary a break. They have moved the line where Caleb goes to school. His current school is really nice and close for Gary. I hope they can stay here, where Sadie Grace would be in Kindergarten. The "new" school they were assigned to is very old and traffic much worse for Gary. Hannah is going to try & get them in the Carrollton Elementary School if they can't stay where they are. It's 14 miles one way! Keeping my fingers crossed for good news.

Devonne, that happened to Eddie when they lived in NC. 3 years, 3 schools due to redistricting. Drove Heather crazy.
Another hot one, upper 90’s with tstorms for tonight.
Norwegian cruise lines just announced that Philly will be a port for them, just short cruises to Bermuda at this point. Might tempt me!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

Holly, we watched the TV weather report and as the radar showed where and how fast it was moving, the crawl on the bottom of the screen said, "Take shelter, now! "  Being dark outside, we couldn't see a thing but even if you could, you shouldn't wait  for sight or sound.  Tornadoes move so fast and even if no tornado develops, high winds  are unpredictable and I move too slow and am too unsteady to try to hurry down stairs!

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

Sandra, so sorry about your hip pain.  Do you think it is sciatica nerve?  My cousin had terrible hip pain and had a hip replacement this past year.  She said it was so worth the pain to have it done.  congrats on the weight loss.  Any weight loss is a win.

Devonne, I think we are done with camping.  Grandkids and our sons just do not have the time and Dean really does not want to go without them.  Plus he is restoring/rebuilding an old "muscle car".  He has most of the body work done and just sent it out to be painted, so he will be very busy with that and does not want to camp.  If we decide to go, we will rent a cabin.

Holly, yes, that charity is indeed a wonderful one.  It is small and run an a shoestring budget but lots of local people and business help out by fostering the  puppies or giving donations.  I have a stack of older towels and sheets from the camper and will take it to them.

We in the tornado areas go to the safe spot when the TV weather people say so!!  As Judy said, they are so unpredictable and scary.  We have a basement, so we do go down there; others go to an interior room or closet.

MaryLou, wonderful news for Lynn!! I know the relief that comes from a clean PETscan.

Trish, do your banks require you to roll the coins in paper holders?  Ours do here , plus we have to write the account number and our names on all rolls; such a pain.  I have three large jars of coins and think I may take them to a coinstar machine.  The store takes a portion, but I can just dump the container in and it counts it for me.  I have never done it but I see them in the grocery store.  Your aunt sounds like an amazing woman.

Supposed to be much cooler and less humid tomorrow, so I am looking forward to it.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

I put a pic of the finished xs on my blog. Fair warning, there is also a political rant on the post, those of the opposing political persuasion may just want to look at the pic and not read the content.

Only in the upper 80’s the rest of the week, but with our usual humidity in the 60’s percent.

Ralph brought me home an omelette, it will do me for 3 breakfasts.

Re: ODT SUNDAY JULY 14 ~ SAT JULY 20

HOLLY.......YOUR X-STITCH IS BEAUTIFUL.  IS IT FROM THOMAS KINCAID?  LOOKS LIKE HIS STYLE.

CHERYL......GOOD NEWS YOU SOLD THE CAMPER QUICKLY.  THERE ARE ALWAYS CABINS YOU CAN RENT IF YOU DECIDE TO GO THAT ROUTE AGAIN.
I THINK SCIATICA NERVE IS IN THE BACK AREA SO THAT'S NOT IT.  ANYWAY, I DON'T THINK SO.

A LOVELY DAY HERE NOW WITH THE HEATWAVE PAST US.  ONLY IN THE LOW 80S THIS WEEK WITH NICE COOL 70S AND HIGH 60S NIGHTS.  DIVINE.

I LOST ANOTHER 8 TENTHS OF A POUND.  I'LL TAKE IT.  ESPECIALLY SINCE I CHEATED LAST NITE.  I FELT SO HUNGRY I HAD TO EAT CHIPS, AND MORE CHIPS TO SATISFY THE TUMMY.  I WILL TRY TO DO BETTER TODAY.
I HAD 2 SOFT-BOILED EGGS FOR BREAKFAST WITH A GLASS OF TOMATO JUICE.  LUNCH WILL BE A HAM SANDWICH WITH THE CRUSTS CUT OFF.  SUPPER MAY BE A NEW BEEFY NOODLE CASSY I WANT TO TRY.  ITS AN EASY PEASY ONE THIS TIME AND IF I SHARE, I WON'T INDULGE TOO MUCH.  I KNOW I HAVE TO MAKE TATER TOT CASSY FOR MY SON THIS WEEKEND.  I THINK HE WORKS SATURDAY SO WILL SHOP ON SUNDAY FOR ME.

I DID MY LAPS THIS MORNING.  I WILL DO MORE OF THEM THIS AFTERNOON.  I WANT TO INCREASE MY LAPS EACH DAY TIL I AM DOING BETTER.

HAVE A GOOD DAY. L HUGS, QB S
