Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

Marylou, glad you got a good report and are feeling so much better. It's a different life living without a spouse, especially when you were together for so long. It takes time to adjust for sure!

I call it stuffing. My Mom always stuffed the turkey, but I always did it separately in a pan. I love the celery and onion taste.

Christmas dinner will be at 5pm at my house, I texted everyone and told each person what they could bring & to RSVP. Hannah texted she has to work until 3:30 on Christmas Day and they are going over Ben's dad's when she gets home. I have a lot of gifts for the kids, so they'll get them after Christmas. Logan is the only one I haven't heard from.

My prescriptions are ready so I'll head to Walmart when it warms up more. It's 37 at 10 am, but going up to 55. Need to pick up some gift cards for Carter, treats for the dogs and the Pioneer Woman 4 quart frying pan for Emily.

Need to get some designs done and start on the Christmas wallhanging. I found a Bengal cat design and I'm excited to stitch that one out to see what it looks like (Greg and Carter have two Bengal cats). I also found a cactus decorated with Christmas lights. They love Tucson and this will be perfect for Carter's quilt.

Trish, that's wonderful Gary likes to cook! Billy used to fix dinner when I was working, but I cooked the majority of the time. He didn't do any grilling. I think I had him spoiled doing everything myself.

Sandra, I bought Greg the Lodge round cast iron skillet for Christmas. Also got him a red cover for the handle. They do get hot!

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

Good Morning, it is 29* outside!  Brrr!!!  The sun is out but everything is covered with frost.  The plants in the window in the office, by my computer are all blooming, so beautiful!!   I have absolutely nothing to say this morning, it is so cold!!  Think I will just sign off, wishing you all well, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

HERE WE CALL IT STUFFING IF ITS STUFFED INSIDE THE BIRD AND DRESSING IF ITS COOKED OUTSIDE THE BIRD.  I OFTEN FORGET AND JUST STILL CALL IT STUFFING SINCE I RARELY HAD IT OUTSIDE THE BIRD.

MY COMPUTER IS VERY SLOW TODAY.  I MAY HAVE TO REBOOT THE SYSTEM.  I HAVE RESTARTED IT TWICE AND THEN SHUT IT DOWN, BUT ITS STILL A BIT SLOW.  IF IT DOESN'T WORK ITSELF OUT SOON, I WILL REBOOT.
I PLAN TO TRY A HAMBURGER CASSEROLE TODAY WITH NOODLES.  ITS AN EASY ONE.  ALSO ON THE MENU IS TATER TOT CASSEROLE FOR FRIDAY AND CHICKEN RICE SOUP FOR SATURDAY.  MY SON SHOPS THIS WEEKEND AND HE LOVES THE TATER TOTS AND SOUP.
MY CD PLAYER CAME YESTERDAY BUT I DIDN'T FEEL LIKE OPENING THE BOX AND TRYING IT.  I HAVE TO FIND A PLACE TO SET IT UP SO I CAN PLAY XMAS ALBUMS THIS YEAR.

DEVONNE......I SURE HOPE GARY GETS HIS DISABILITY AFTER ALL HIS JUMPS THRU THE HOOPS.  I KNOW THEY TAKE GREAT ISSUE WITH GIVING OUT MONEY BEFORE RETIREMENT THESE DAYS AND IT SEEMS THAT THOSE THAT ARE HONEST GET THE HARDEST TIME GETTING THEIR MONEY THAT THEY CONTRIBUTED TO FOR SO MANY YEARS.  I WILL SEND HIM POSITIVE THOUGHTS.
NICE THAT YOU FOUND A BENGAL CAT DESIGN.  I MADE A HOOKED RUG YEARS AGO, A LEAPING BENGAL TIGER ON A RED BACKGROUND.  GAVE IT TO MY MOM WHO ADORED IT.  IT REALLY WAS STRIKING.

THERESA.....THANK YOU FOR THE XMAS CARD.  YOURS IS THE FIRST.  YOU AND A CLOSE FRIEND NEARBY ARE ALWAYS THE FIRST ONES SENDING ME CARDS.  THANK YOU. ITS SO NICE TO SEE THE FACES THAT WE 'TALK' ABOUT SO OFTEN.

THAT'S IT TODAY LADIES.  NICE DAY HERE WITH SUNSHINE BUT IN THE 30S.  I HAVE COOKING TO DO EARLY SINCE I HAVE BINGO TONITE AND THAT'S BEFORE 5 PM WHEN I HAVE TO CHECK IN.  SO EARLY COOKING TODAY.
BE SAFE.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

Howard just put in our new bathroom faucet.  It's been dripping for several, several months and we bought this new one 2 months ago.  One thing and another made the delay in installing it, plus, he was afraid he couldn't get the old one out--it had been there since 2012 when David remodeled the bathroom.

It's bright and sunny and very cold and windy.  Does that stop one of the neighbors (not the guy behind) from burning?  Of course not!  Neither that nor the "no burning" order in this county.   Sorry, I'm always crabby about burning.  Men seem to love it!  Howard burned some stuff in the small parking area right next to the 1-car garage we use for storage.  Buckled the vinyl siding.  I told him he was burning too close to it and he told me to mind my own business.  Then, he had to eat crow.   Thus my opinion on men and burning!    (seems like I'm using that emoji quite often, lately.)

Holly, seems like life is always gearing up and then tamping down--anticipation, then readjusting  back.  I'm always somewhat overwhelmed with preparations but rather blue the night of a holiday when we're back home...alone.

Devonne,  how nice that you're getting some alone time with Gary, lately.  Even if it's just accompanying him to appts.  I surely hope he gets that disability.  Surely he'll qualify with all his medical issues.  I wish I could think of something to get MY daughter-in-law, like you did Emily.  I have Pam's name but never know what she could use and would certainly not buy her any clothing.  I often resort to a cushy throw, but ML turned her nose up at that idea.  Well, then, she can help me decide!  She's better than I am at gift-choosing.  Loved the pic of Sadie Grace.  Hope you can handle Christmas dinner.  At least you'll have all day to work on it.

It's 1 pm here and I've done nothing.  Better go and get busy.  At the very least, that bathroom needs a good cleaning and the new runner rug I bought put down.    Later...
Indy

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

a woman was telling my friend Barbara about a quilting cruise to Alaska. The sewing room was closed every night, so you could ‘t sew after dinner. She only got to sew on sea days, and was very disappointed. I would be too!

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

Theresa, thank you for the Christmas card and newsletter.  It is always nice to hear what your family has been up to.

We call it stuffing in the bird and dressing outside.  lol.  We usually just say stuffing.  I use the bagged bread cubes and add celery, onion and poultry seasonings.  My family does not care for the corn bread stuffing.  Holly, we like the Stovetop brand too and I make it during the year when we have baked chicken.

I finished another coin quilt last night.  They are so easy and such a great way to use the scraps.  My scrap drawers are now getting on the low side.  Never thought I would see that.

I send well wishes to all, especially to Elmer.

Just put some frozen chicken tenders in the Instantpot.  I hope they turn out OK.  I plan to put some BBQ sauce on them and stick them under the broiler for a minute or two.

I have no ideas on what to get the grandkids for Christmas.  I told them to text me with some ideas or else they would get what I picked out.

Nothing else right now.  Take care.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

I find stuffing mixes have way too much sodium.  So I never use them.
Same goes for most commercially prepared items.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

Hi! Busy, busy, BUSY as usual, plus my vision limits my ability to be on the computer. Im hopeful that my specialists will have some easy answers and solutions for me soon! I see one in December, thr other in January. 👍🏻

We received more bad news regarding a close friend of DH's. He was violently ill recently with horrible headaches and severe nausea. Cutting to thr chase, he had a brain tumor removed nearly a month ago. He found out that it is cancer and starts additional treatment tomorrow.
Sadly, it doesn't look good, but as a Christian, he (we) know it's in God's hands. 🙏🏻

I had a colonoscopy on Monday and reacted horribly to the prep meds! Vomiting, violent and uncontrollable shivering and shaking, monsterous headache! It was horrible! With my next colonoscopy, I'll use a different prep solution! Anyway, I'm still feeling rather depleted so I'll wish you all a wonderful week as we approach December! Wow!
🤗🎄❄️⛄️

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

DIANE......SORRY YOU HAD SUCH A BAD TIME PREPPING FOR THAT COLONOSCOPY.  I NEVER HEARD ANYONE HAVING SUCH TROUBLES BEFORE BUT I DON'T OFTEN SPEAK TO MANY FOLKS ABOUT ILLNESSES AND PREPS.  I HOPE NEXT TIME YOU GO A DIFFERENT ROUTE.

I FINALLY UNPACKED MY CD PLAYER.  ITS PLAYING XMAS ALBUMS RIGHT NOW.  DEAR DARLING DEAN MARTIN.  LOVE HIS VOICE.
I ONLY WON ONE GAME LAST NITE AT BINGO SO IN THE END CAME HOME 2 BUCKS POORER.  NOT BAD FOR A FUN NIGHT.
I MADE ANOTHER EASY CASSEROLE AND IT WAS GOOD.  THIS ONE IS HAMBURGER, EGG NOODLES AND CHEESE.  MMMM, I ENJOYED IT AS DID TOM NEXT DOOR.  HE READILY CAME BACK FOR A 2ND HELPING WHEN ONE GAL, WHO IS STILL SICK, COULD NOT TAKE HER SHARE.  AT LEAST I KNOW ONE PERSON WHO LIKES MY COOKING.
OH, TRISH, I COOKED THOSE 2 THIN PORK CHOPS IN THE CASSEROLE AND THEY HIT THE SPOT NICELY.
MY TV WAS DOING STRANGE THINGS THIS MORNING SO I HAD TO RESET THE CABLE COMPLETELY.  IT NOT ONLY FIXED THE TV, IT FIXED THE SLOWNESS OF MY COMPUTER.  IT WORKS JUST FINE THIS MORNING AFTER REBOOTING.
I AM STILL A LITTLE LIGHT-HEADED TODAY.  I HOPE IT CLEARS UP SOON.  I DON'T HAVE TO COOK ANYTHING MORE TODAY HAVING LEFTOVERS.  BUT TOMORROW I NEED TO MAKE MY TATER TOT CASSEROLE FOR MY SON AND NEIGHBORS.  I WANT TO FEEL GOOD WHILE I COOK.  AND I ONLY DID HALF MY DISHES LAST NITE.  THE OTHER HALF IS SITTING IN MY SINK CALLING MY NAME.  UGH.

ANOTHER SUNNY DAY HERE WITH COOL TEMPS.  WE HAVE TO EXPECT THAT THIS TIME OF YEAR.  I AM ALWAYS HAPPY WHEN I CAN SEE OLD MR. SUNSHINE UP IN HIS HEAVENS.
STAY SAFE.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

I WANTED TO POST A FEW PICTURES TAKEN RECENTLY.
THE VIEW OUTSIDE OUR BACK DOOR.

THE PAMPAS GRASS BLOWING IN THE WIND WITH THE RIVER BEYOND.

THE XMAS TREE DECORATED AND LIT IN OUR COMMON ROOM JUST DOWN THE HALLWAY FROM ME.

THE LATEST CASSY COMING OUT OF THE OVEN.  I POPPED MY THIN PORK CHOPS INTO IT CUT IN HALVES.

I'M TRYING TO BE GOOD AND LOSE A COUPLE OF POUNDS SO THIS IS MY SERVING FOR SUPPER LAST NITE.  NOT TOO MUCH, BUT NOT VERY SMALL EITHER.  THAT PORK CHOP IS ONLY A HALF.

HAVE A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

Good Morning, it is very shady outside this morning.  Not a breath of air and no sun!  Garbage men are due today, not sure when.  I am having trouble with my eyesight this morning, keeps getting very cloudy, then straightens out, worrisome!!  Took a bag of food outside for pickup  by the folks who take care of them.  That's nice that they have someone.

It is 37* outside this morning and very still.  I really don't have anything to say this morning, so will just sign off and wish you all well.  Have a wonderful day, Love, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

There was a beautiful frost on the ground this morning, but it didn't stay there long. I was going out for breakfast, but it was too cold.

Diane, so sorry you were so sick from the colonoscopy prep. I have an appointment in March with my NP. I'm getting a prescription for the Cologuard kit. That's what I did the last time. It's about 90% accurate (or so they say). If anything shows up, then you have to get a colonoscopy.

I can tell I'm slower in getting my housework done. When you're in the sewing room so much, you don't get any cleaning done. Today I got two bedrooms straightened up, vacuumed, the laundry is done and the master bathroom cleaned. I need to polish the furniture in my bedroom. That's something I need to improve on, lol. I'll tackle the kitchen after I rest a few hours.

Greg is going to change my furnace filter when he comes down and my fridge water filter. I also had a curtain rod to fall down & he'll put it back up the right way for me.

Sandra, that looks so good and it's a lot of food. It's good you have folks to share it with. I seldom eat leftovers because I don't make enough food to be left over, lol.

Walmart didn't have any Christmas cards. I was surprised. I'll check with Target and Amazon.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

I am getting organised for tonight, packed a bag with teatowels, detergent, gloves, and have my sharp knife to cut the cakes.

It's pretty hot here, but supposed to get cooler later, I need to get to the bakery, the Mr loves a turkish sourdough loaf from Bakers Delight, darned expensive, but it is nice.

SANDRA I do hope you feel better later, the casserole was a big one, so good you get to feed others, and they enjoy it. I love that shape pasta, and it's John's favourite as well. The tree looks wonderful, I have all new decorations this year, so I better make a start, see what else I need.

DEVONNE we have cards everywhere here, too many, but still hard to find Australian ones, the ones I got this year I am disappointed in, if they are better next year I might buy lots while they have them.

DIANE that is horrid, the prep is bad enough, I do the one called Pica something, I can never remember, it's kind of citrusy, but it needs to chill, weirdly it gets hot after you mix it. I guess it's about time I had mine done as well, I see my Dr next week, I'll ask him to send me off to see Dr Nick LOL

Nothing much happening here, the Mr is off at bowls, he'll be home just in time to change and go to be with Gary, they will be on their own tonight, they have promised to behave LOL

I need to get the A/C on, it's hot already in the house, last night it was so humid it was nasty. and my class in the morning was humid and hot, we were all feeling it.
It is December in Australia after all I guess, we have been a little spoilt with mild weather so far.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

Diane- sorry about the colon prep issues.
I did the Cologuard thing and it came back positive, so had to do the real thing.  It was negative.  The GI  dr said Cologuard is not reliable.  There are a lot of false negatives, as well as false positives.   But he said “see you in 10 years”.  As my grandmother used to say “ I should only live that long” LOL.
One of my quilt Bees is having its holiday luncheon today.  I don’t know why they had to pick a place almost an hour away.  I really don’t care to go, but I am.  I’m riding with a friend.  If she cancels at the last minute I won’t be going.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

WE ARE EXPECTING RAIN THIS AFTERNOON SO I NEED TO GET MY TRASH OUT BEFORE THEN.  RIGHT NOW ITS SUNNY AND BRIGHT AND IN THE 40S.  SHOULD HIT 50 TODAY.  NICE.

I HAVE BEEN FEELING ICKY THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS AND TODAY WOKE WITH BALANCE ISSUES ONCE AGAIN BUT I NEEDED TO GET BACK TO SEWING SO MANAGED TO WORK ON 'THE ARTIST' WH THIS MORNING.  NOW I AM DONE FOR THE DAY EXCEPT FOR THE SHORT TRIP OUTDOORS LATER AND TO THE MAIL BOX.
I SEE THAT THE GOVT HAS PUT MY SOC SEC CHECK IN MY BANK ACCT ALREADY.  USUALLY ITS ON THE 3RD OF THE MONTH BUT WITH THE 3RD HITTING WEEKENDS, THEY GET IT IN EARLY.  I LIKE THAT.

HERE'S 'THE ARTIST' TO THIS POINT.  I THINK IT WILL DO WITH A BIT OF TWEAKING WITH BLACK INK HERE AND THERE.

NOTHING ELSE TO SAY.  I WILL BE RESTING QUITE A BIT TODAY.  AND EATING.
HAVE A NICE DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

Good Morning, it is pouring down rain here and 40*!!  Beautiful day???  Frank has a Dr. appt this morning, waiting for Rhonda to get here to drive him, not so sure where she is!  Assume she'll get here eventually!

My left leg is really bothering me this morning, but I'll survive!  Hard to believe it is December already.  The year does pass rapidly!!

Well, I just called Rhonda to see where she is because Frank is sitting out in the truck waiting for her.   She says his appt. is not until 9:30, so I called him in, what a mess!!!

I'm cutting this off, as I'm out of energy and don't really have anything to say.  Will wish you all a pleasant December and hope you all have a wonderful day, Love to everyone, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

It is also raining here. We had a break, but starting again in 30 minutes. Greg dropped Carter off at school & came to eat breakfast with me. We went to Bojangles and he is doing his phone "meetings" here in my sewing room.

I'm looking for the Bengal cat design but don't see it on my flash drive. That's one thing I don't like about this emb. machine. When the designs pull up (they are loaded page by page), you can't tell what many of the designs are. Snowmen, yes! I wonder if I would be able to see them better on a new machine.

Sandra, sorry you are feeling bad. I love this wallhanging. You did a great job. Just take it easy over the weekend.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

It is pouring rain here too.  Chilly, dark and damp.   I do not like rain.  Last  Monday we did get a dusting of snow but that was all.  North of me about an hour or so got 14 inches, but it is right off of Lake Erie.

I used my bread machine to make rolls for Thanksgiving and we really liked them so today I am going to try cinnamon rolls.  yummy

Devonne, I need to do a deep clean in the house , too, but I don't want to do it.    I did do the dusting and ran the sweeper yesterday.  Today I took a load of donations to the local charity.  I had several pairs of curtains that I will never put back up, so out the went.  I also had a brand new purse that I had ordered from Kohl's and when it came it was way too  big for me, so off it went too.  I got such a deal on the purse so it was not worth taking it back.

Aaron wants to take me out for dinner for my birthday, so we will be going to Texas Roadhouse tomorrow.  We do not really do much for adult birthdays, so dinner it is.

Take care all.

Re: ODT SUNDAY 26 NOV ~ SAT 2 DECEMBER

We just watched Julianna in her dance class/team’s winter show on the iPad. It’s live-streamed. Usually we go in person, but it’s a rainy night and I don’t like to drive in the dark and rain. She was in like 10 of the almost 30 numbers, with a solo.

I did a blog post, which includes porch progress.

Happy Birthday Cheryl!
