Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

DIANE thank you!! Yep, Sept is almost here, meaning pollen for us LOL It's already starting, and pretty soon it will be March Fly (Horse Fly) time and I am allergic to them, have to get some more spray to apply. I take it for both me and Gemma at training, she is allergic too, we both got bitten and had to have antibiotics  --  eerk, nasty little (or rather BIG) things they are.

SANDRA how is the tooth, are you in pain? I am hoping you can get in earlier, but if you can cope OK that's good ((((hugs)))), losing that bit of weight is good though, and you have found a way to still have at least some things you like.

BJ how is Frank, is he getting around OK, it does take time to recover from hip surgery, but I have heard that knee surgery is worse, so I hope he'll be home soon. You sound a little tired, are you sleeping OK?

PATTY enjoy your trip where is MN, I thought it might me Maine, when will you be back?

JANET I still haven't joined the facebook group, time has gotten away form me this week, I did however finish the quilt for Jen, not in time to give it to her on Friday night at our celebration, I did put the last stitches in, but I wanted to wash it and make sure the red wouldn't run LOL

THERESA how are you coping, have you got any rest at all ((((hugs))))

DEVONNE that is too hot for you to be out in it, even if you are using water and probably getting wet, at least I do when I pressure wash, we call it gurney. I just read about things Aussies say, apparently we use a Brand name to describe something, even if it isn't the brand, like Esky for cooler, Panadol for paracetamol, Band-aid for sticking plaster - there were lots of others, I laughed when I read it, too true, we are indeed a weird mob!!

HOLLY your afghan is really pretty, I saw it on your blog, you must have as much wool as I have fabric! LOL I really need to cull some more, I have way too much, and if I don't get rid of it soon it will just rot.

INDY I didn't answer your question, YEP made a lot for the afternoon tea, scones only take minutes to make, the old saying was  "you should have the scones made by the time the oven heats up" I made the Madeleines, and whipped the cream, I bought the jam tarts they were on sale, I forget what else we had - oh yes, Lemon cake.
You had a sad service to attend, being catholic I doubt anyone cared whether you sang OR sat, kneeled etc. It's pretty usual these days to have lots of people attend who aren't catholic, same for other churches. Often here the words to the songs (and prayers) are printed in the service booklet, makes it easy for everyone.  Hope you get to stay home and rest this week.

I went to see my sis and great niece on Friday, she is absolutely a character, so sociable, and very clever, she's 18 months now, counts to 3, took me by the hand to lead me to the fridge/freezer, she wanted icecream LOL, she didn't get it. Tried to put her own shoes on, did pretty well trying, didn't quite succeed LOL and also uses some sign language, they teach them at daycare, I love that! She can sign that she's finished eating, hello, goodbye, more food, and she is also pretty vocal, EXCEPT everyone is 'mum' even dad LOL

We also had my group night out on Friday night, I got an award for skipping LOL, we had a lot of fun, 25 came to celebrate with us for finishing our 8 week challenge, the Mr had his own night out AND he won an incredible trophy, he and his partner won best reserve titles for their zone. Lovely trophy, very modern looking glass, nicely engraved. He's very happy!

Thank heavens this was still her, got called away, and it didn't disappear LOL

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

We did have a good, safe trip.  We got home last evening.  Stopped for milk on the way, the most important grocery item needed.  We didn't finish the audio book, it was 20 hours long, so finished it in the house last night.

Trish, looking at the U.S. map, Minnesota is about in the middle at the very top, against the Canadian border..  Lake Superior is the great lake on the left.  Our Arrowhead region is along the top of the lake.  Duluth being at the lower tip of the lake. We are about 80 miles west and a little north of Duluth.

It's good to be back to cooler temps.  It was very hot in the southern part of the state.  Didn't do much walking on trails because of the heat.

Now that we're home I don't know what to do with myself.  Guess I have to get back into the routine of being lazy everyday! 😁

I just saw an ad for Labor Day on Monday and thought oh no!!  Then realized there's still a week before that.  August flew by for me.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

ANOTHER NICE DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD BUT I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE, DARN IT.
WILL TAKE IT EASY TODAY.  I USUALLY CALL SUNDAY MY DAY OF REST BUT ACTUALLY, EVERY DAY IS MY DAY OF REST.  I WILL SQUEEZE ROASTING SOME TOMATOES IN LATER TODAY I THINK.  OTHER THAN THAT NOTHING PRESSING FOR ME.

TRISH.......THANK YOU FOR ASKING ABOUT MY TOOTH.. IT ONLY HURTS IF I AM EATING AND SOME FOOD TOUCHES IT.  I AM CAREFUL SO RARELY HAPPENS.  I JUST NOW CUT UP MY BREAKFAST PEACHES INTO TINY BITS SO I CAN JUST SWALLOW THEM FOR THE MOST PART.
CONGRATILATIONS TO YOU BOTH FOR TROPHIES AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF YOUR EFFORTS.  I'LL BET W IS OVER THE MOON AS WE SAY HERE IN THE USA.
I ALWAYS SMILE WHEN I HEAR SOMEONE, EITHER IN ENGLAND OR AUST, SAY HOOVER WHEN THEY VACUUM.

PATTY......GLAD TO HEAR YOU HAD A NICE TRIP.  YOU MUST BE EXHAUSTED THOUGH SO ENJOY THE PEACE AND QUIET OF HOME NOW.  GET BACK YOU YOUR USUAL SLOW PACE AND ENJOY.

DEVONNE.....THANKS FOR THE EXPLANATION.  I GUESS ITS WORTH IT TO YOU TO TAKE THOSE CRUISES.  IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ENJOY YOURSELF A LOT AND THAT'S WHAT A VACATION SHOULD BE.

LINDA.....HOW IS THAT NEW PHONE OF YOURS?  IS IT SET UP YET?  I KNOW THAT SETTING UP NEW THINGS FOR ME IS A HORROR SHOW.  I AM NOT TECHY AND THE OLDER I GET THE WORSE TECHNOLOGY SEEMS TO ME.  CROSSING MY FINGERS THAT YOU ARE DOING WELL WITH THAT.

LOOKS LIKE FLORIDA IS GETTING READY FOR A TROPICAL STORM OR MAYBE A HURRICANE.  THE SEASON HAS BEEN PRETTY QUIET ON THAT SCORE THIS YEAR.  USUALLY THOSE STORMS BEGIN LASHING THE STATE IN JUNE.  ITS NEARLY SEPT AND NO BADDIES SO FAR.  CROSSING MY FINGERS THEY ARE NOT HIT TOO BADLY FROM THIS STORM.

THAT'S ABOUT IT FROM ME LADIES.  WISHING YOU A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

Good Morning to everyone!!  I'm feeling pretty lazy this morning. Rhonda spent the night, likely will  spend the day.  It is very still outside this morning, not a breath of air is moving, but the sun is out.   It is 62* so will likely get very hot before the day is over.

Had a good night's sleep last night, but sure woke up early.  Got up around 6, got dressed, did my exercises, then Rhonda got up.   She's sitting in the kitchen, so I had better get off here and go visit with her.  Hope everyone has a lovely day, sending love and best wishes, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

Trish, when Heather was a teen, one of her best friends was Catholic. When the group of 5 stayed there on Saturday night, the mom would take them all the church service. One of the group described catholic service as “sit, stand, sing, kneel, pray” and that amused me so much that I still remember it.
Medically I’m told that the knee replacement is the hardest and longest recovery. I haven’t had any other replacements, knock on wood, so I can’t compare personally.

Devonne, I’ve been on 5 cruises and never went into a casino! Of course, I also live an hour from AC! I was there 7 years ago for Tori’s 21 st birthday dinner, we all went into the casino briefly, but I didn’t gamble. I’m way too cheap, LOL.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

I have cruised 6 times and never went to the Casino. In fact,we only went to a few shows all those times.  We have only cruised to Bermudaand do as many excursions as possible.  We haven’t cruised since Covid but have one booked for 2024.
We will be leaving for Lake George on Sat for two weeks.

Whenever we get new devices,,,phones or iPads we have them to th entire set up.  It’s free so why not let the expert do it?

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

I'm back...today is a day of doing nothing, just relaxing. I've been trying to find a movie called Unchained from 1955. So far, no luck. It supposedly was the movie that lead to the song, Unchained Melody, my favorite song.

Sandra, there are a lot of elderly people on these cruise ships. I am reaching the end of my cruise days. I think this is #24 for me. They have really gone up in price the last year.

Holly, Greg and I like the same slot machines. It's a lot of fun playing with him. We do have our limits. He always does much better than me. As long as I can pay my bills, this is my "fun" money for entertainment. What hurts is when you just left a machine and another lady sits down at the same machine and hits it big after two spins!

Today is our last day in the high 90's. It's going to be much nicer this coming week. Trish, you are right. It was too hot for me to be out there. I should have waited until this week, but I was anxious to try my new pressure washer. It's so small, it will fit on a shelf in the garage. The best thing is I can pick it up and carry it to the garage, no bulky rollers. I just love it.

These are the only tomatoes I got this year, plus 3 red ones about a month ago. I pulled these and mixed them with zucchini and onion. So yummy! I love green tomatoes fixed any way. I left one tomato plant that just grew tall and did nothing. It has a few blooms on it.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

HI ALL!

THE PHONE STORE DID SET IT UP AND TRANFER EVERYTHING FROM THE OLD PHONE. WISH ID HAD NOT LET IT ALL STRSS ME BUT IT DID AND I REALLY COULDN'T HELP IT. IT WILL TAKE ME A LITTLE WHILE TO LEARN IT. A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM LD PHONE. SOME THINGS I CAN SEE SO MUCH EASIER. THAT WILL HELP A LOT. THINK I HAVE DONE SOMETHING THAT I DID NOT INTEND TO DO. WILL GET SOME HELP TO UNDO. MOSTLY SOME APPS THAT I DON'T NEED OR WANT. INCLUDING THAT TEMU ONE THAT THERESA WARNED US ABOUT.

ONLY BEEN ON 2 CRUISES. DON'T THINK THE FIRST ONE HAD A CASINO ON IT. SECOND ONE DID. ALLOWED MYSELF $20, WON #60 AND WHEN LOST ALL THAT I STOPPED. I HAD FUN DOING IT. NOT SURE DARRELL GAMBLED THAT MUCH. WE DID A LOT ON IT. LINE DANCING WAS POPULAR THEN SO WE TOOK A LINE DANCING CLASS. WENT TO A WINE TASTING. DARRELL SHOT SKEET OFF THE BACK. WE WENT TO SOME EXERCISE CLASSES TO GET A TEE SHIRT. CAN'T REMEMBER THE ENTERTAINMENT. THE SECOND ONE WAS ALMOST 30 YEARS AGO SO A LOT HAS CHANGED. OH, SITTING IN THE HOLDING AREA WHEN LEAVING, A GENTLEMAN SAID HE HAD LOST $600.00 DOLLARS IN THE CASICINO. HE ACTED LIKE IT WASN'T ANY BIG DEAL. HE DID FEEL THE "HOUSE" GOT MOST OF THE MONEY. OF COURSE IT DID. THINK WE DID SOME OTHER THINGS BUT NOT THINKING OF THEM RIGHT NOW. WE TRIED TO GET OUR MONEY'S WORTH BY DOING AS MUCH AS WE COULD. FOOD WAS WONDERFUL.

KEEPING AN EYE ON A FEW RIPENING TOMATOES. DEVOONE, THAT SAAD LOOKS GOOD. HOPING THAT TEMPS IN THE 80s THIS WEEK WILL ALLWO A FEW TO GROW MORE AND RIPEN. THE TOMATO PLANTS THAT SEEM TO BE DOING THE BEST WERE IN DIRT FOR VEGGIES AND HERBS. WILL TRY TO GET THAT AGAIN IF DO SOME PLANTS NEXT YEAR. I DO WISH I HAD GOTTEN MINE PLANTED A LOT EARLIER IN THE SEASON.

HAVE FUN AT LAKE GEORGE. DON'T THINK I WENT THERE, BUT DARRELL WENT SEVERAL TIMES ON MOTOCYCLE TRIPS. DID JERRY ENJOY THE SUMMER HEAT? SECOND HOTTEST ON RECORD FOR THE AREA.

THINKING OF EVERYONE. PRAYERS...........................................

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

Linda- I enjoy the summer, heat and all. Jerry doesn’t like it as much as he used to.  When winter comes, he will long for summer. Lol
Americade is the big motorcycle event in Lake George.  It takes place in June.  Always a big hit.  We have been going to LG for over 20 years in Sept for the big car show.  We went there for years before that too, just for vacations.
Ask Darrell if he ever went to Laconia, NH for the motorcycle event, I think it was called AmJam?  It was a lot wilder than Americade.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

GOOD MORNING!

SLEPT LATER THAN I HAD BEEN.  NEEDED IT.  IT REAINED LAST NIGHT. STILLL PRETTY DAMP OUT. WE NEEDED IT VERY BADLY. HAD NOT RAINED IN ABOUT 10 DAYS OR MORE. IF WE HAD ANY, IT WOULD BE A SPRINKLE AND THE RAINDROPS DIDN'T EVEN RUN TOGETHER ON THE SIDEWALK. WILL STILL NEED TO WATER POTS.

JANET. THE HEAT THIS SUMMER HASN'T BEEN GOOD FOR ME. KNOW JERRY WAS LOOKING FOR A WARM CLIMATE AND DISAPPOINTED IN VA. DON'T THINK HE HAS BEEN TO NH FOR AN EVENT.  SEVERAL TIMES TO THE LAKE GEORGE ONE. HE DID QUITE A FEW OF THE GOLDWING EVENTS CALLED WIND DING. WENT WITH HIM ON SEVERAL OF THOSE.

HOPE USING THE PHONE WILL BE BETTER TODAY.  FEEL PRETTY DUMB AT TIMES. LEARNING NEW THINGS IS GETTING MORE AND MORE DIFFICULT. UGH...

I AM SURE THERE WAS MORE TO COMMENT ABOUT.  IF THINK OF IT, WILL COME BACK.

THINKING OF EVERYONE. PRAYERS...........................................................

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

YOU LADIES IN THE SOUTH NEED TO START YOUR TOMATOES EARLIER SO THEY ARE RIPENING BEFORE THE BIG HEAT YOU ALWAYS GET.  THEY DON'T LIKE EXTREME HEAT AND REBEL, LIKE TEENAGERS.

DEVONNE......YOUR TOMATO MEAL LOOKS GOOD AND TASTY.  I'M GLAD YOU COULD ENJOY YOUR BOUNTY.

LINDA......I HOPE YOU CAN LEARN A BIT MORE ON YOUR PHONE TODAY.  TECHNOLOGY DEFEATS ME ESPECIALLY WHEN SOMETHING NEW, THAT'S WHY I HAVEN'T UPGRADED MY PUTER TO WINDOW 11 YET.  TOO LEARY.

A LOVELY DAY HERE.  IT STARTED WITH THICK FOG AT 6 THIS MORNING.  NOW ITS SUNNY AND BRIGHT AND IN THE 70S AGAIN.  LOVE THIS WEATHER.
MY SON IS COUNTING THE DAYS.  HE WILL SHOP FOR ME ON SATURDAY THIS WEEK AND THEN ON SUNDAY MORNING HE FLIES TO ITALY FOR 10 DAYS OR SO.  A BIT OF DELAYED HONEYMOON FOR HIM AND HIS BRIDE.  HE LOVED IT THERE THE FIRST TIME WITH SOME GOOD FRIENDS, BUT THIS TIME ITS ROME AND SOME OTHER PLACES TO ENJOY. I WISH THEM A WONDERFUL TIME.

I HAVE NO PLANS TO SHARE LADIES.  ITS THE USUAL ROUTINE FOR ME......  A LITTLE OF THIS A LITTLE OF THAT THRU THE LONG DAY AND LOTS OF TV AND CROSSWORDS AND SOLITAIRE.
WISHING YOU ALL A GREAT DAY.  HUGS, QB S

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

Good Morning to everyone.  Just had breakfast, scrambled eggs and bacon.  Really good, Rhonda fixed it for me.  She's a peach!  Don't have anything going on today, Rhonda is cleaning up the kitchen, then she's going to see Frank.  It is so still outside, not a breath of air is moving.  The flowers outside are still beautiful, love having them.  It is only 60* outside this morning.

I really don't have anything else to say this morning, so will just sign off and wish you all well, have a wonderful day, BJ.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

BJ, I had a nice breakfast too! A boiled egg and some Ky Legend ham with coffee. No toast as I'm out of bread.

It's 86 now at 1:30...still hot, but not 97! The humidity is still bad. I went out at 8:00 last night to water my plants and emptied some of the potting soil. Sweat was pouring down my face when I came back in.

Sandra, how wonderful Matt & Daphne are taking such a great honeymoon. I'm sure he will send you great pics!

Janet, is your smoke detector still chirping? We are ready for cooler weather to get here, then we're ready for it to get warm again, lol! I just hope we don't get 7 degree weather like we did last October. My heat pump couldn't keep up with such low temps.

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

Humid again here. Devonne and Theresa, are you in the projected path of the hurricane?

I have 3 stripes (2 rows each) and the border left of Woodland Ripple! Looking forward to finishing.

Just put dinner in the oven, a dish of pasta, chicken, salsa, cream of chicken soup, and sour cream. Hope it’s good.

Sandra, Steph and Dan are planning an Italy trip next spring.

Nothing exciting in my corner of the world, which is the best thing about retirement!

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

Good afternoon, ladies!  Hubby is back to work after having another week off for a staycation. 🤪 We worked around the house doing various projects, and in the yard when the wildfire smoke cleared enough.  I should say, hubby did the bulk of the work and I supervised.  My back was bad for most of the week, and I still have no idea what I did. It's getting better, but it's slow!

Thankfully, we haven't had weeks on end of wildfire smoke this summer, but it's unpleasant when it occurs.  Still, I'm so thankful it hasn't been worse,  and we aren't in the areas of high fire danger.  And it certainly isn't like what occurred in Maui!

I saw online that Carol Duvall died. Remember her from HGTV and DIY Network?  Anyway, perhaps you already knew since she died July 31, but I just saw it online and thought I'd share the sad news here. She was 97.

I was interrupted by a delivery, so I'll just say so long  for now.  Speaking of deliveries, I need to finish up some product reviews and get those posted.

I'll try to get back later and do some reading. 🙃🤗

Re: ODT SUNDAY AUG 27 ~ SAT SEPT 2

DIANE......GLAD TO HEAR THE SMOKE IS NOT A PROBLEM RIGHT NOW.  SORRY, THOUGH, FOR THE SORE BACK.  THEY SURE CAN BE TOUCHY SOMETIMES.  THE LEAST TWIST AND YOU'RE LAID UP FOR A BIT.  HOPE IT CLEARS UP SOON.

HOLLY......HAVE STEPH AND DAN EVER BEEN TO ITALY?  MY SON JUST LOVES IT THERE.  I AM SURE IF HE HIT THE LOTTERY HE WOULD BUY A 2ND HOME THERE FOR VACATIONING.  BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY, DELICIOUS FOOD, FRIENDLY PEOPLE.

NOTHING HAPPENING TODAY EITHER.  I REPACKED MY HOSPITAL TOTE.  ITS A TOTE I KEEP FILLED WITH THINGS I MAY NEED IF I GO TO HOSPITAL.  COMING HOME WRINKLE-PROOF DRESS, SOCKS, EXTRA BATTERIES, UNDERWEAR, COUGH DROPS, FACE MASKS,  3 BOOKS, AND WRITING MATERIAL SHOULD I NEED TO 'TALK' THAT WAY.  ONE OF MY KIDS CAN BRING IT TO ME SHOULD I STAY IN THE HOSPITAL FOR MORE THAN A DAY.  THE ONLY THING I DID DIFFERENTLY IS UPDATE THE SPARE BATTERIES.  THE TOTE IS RIGHT HANDY BEHIND A DINING ROOM CHAIR.
CLEANING OUT MY KITCHEN DRAWERS IS STILL HIGH ON MY LIST OF THINGS TO DO SO THAT MAY GET DONE TODAY.  ALSO, I WAS UNABLE TO ROAST MY TOMS YESTERDAY.  I DOZED OFF FOR AN AFTERNOON NAP YESTERDAY AND WHEN I WOKE I JUST DID NOT FEEL LIKE ROASTING TOMS AND SUCH FOR THE NEXT 2 HOURS.  THEY CAN WAIT.  A COUPLE OF TOMS NEED AN EXTRA DAY OF RIPENING ANYWAY.

THE WEATHER DOES NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO.  SOMETIMES A BIT OF SHUNSHINE, SOMETIMES CLOUDS.  ITS OKAY THOUGH SINCE I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE TODAY

I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GOOD DAY.  HUGS, QB S
