Creamy Peanut Butter Fudge

2 cups sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup canned milk (evaporated)
3 T light Karo syrup
1/4 t salt
1 and 1/2 t vanilla
1/3 cup peanut butter
Roasted peanuts if desired

In a large saucepan, mix the sugars, canned milk, corn syrup and salt.  Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve sugar.  Cook WITHOUT stirring to a softball stage (234 degrees).  Cool to 110 degrees.  Add peanut butter and vanilla.  Beat until it is thick and loses it's gloss.  Add chopped roasted peanuts if desired.  Pour into a greased 8x8x2 pan.
